Hi.... In my Moto X, when I click on the phone icon I think it used to take me straight to the dial-pad where I could dial a number. Now, it takes me to the recently called lists... no dial-pad whatsoever.
It's the Verizon Moto X.
Does anyone know if there's a way to set it so it defaults to the actual dial-pad again instead of the recently contacted lists?
Thank you

Anyone know how to change the message center number on a Moto X?
I have an AT&T Moto X that I ported to straight talk. Everything ported fine for phone calls, data and MMS. However I can't send or receive SMS.
ST said I need to double-check the message center number and gave me the number that it should be...I just can't find a way to check it on a Moto X. Past Android phones had this option under messaging settings, and the *#*#4636#*#* trick that worked on other phones doesn't work either.

Thanks for the sarcasm, I already posted that the option is not under Messaging settings. I have an AT&T Moto X, so it's possible that T-Mobile versions enable it but my guess is that documentation is wrong.
For anyone else in the same boat as me, GoSMS has an option under Advanced settings to change the SMSC if you need to.
In any case my Moto X started sending and receiving texts 6 hours or so after the number port to Straight Talk went through. Just had to wait.

I have a Developer Edition (same model as the "T-Mobile" version) and there's no such option in the messaging app settings.

Are you in the middle / at the end of a carrier port? In my case AT&T was holding onto my texts and didn't release them until the next day.

Hi! I confirmed from my service provider and they mentioned that this is normal (48hr at max to set sms and service). Only had they confirmed on my 1st call.
Yes i ported and at the time i post this comment,it will be 24 hours.
Note: Have ported before but sms was working right frm the start. This is the first time i went from a normal sim to nano sim.
And thanks for affirmation.
Hi everyone, I'm new here. Don't know how to navigate around this forum but hope I'm in the right place?
I've had my MOTO X for 3 weeks now and having trouble with emoticons/emoji. How on earth do you send them on text? I've downloaded from the playstore, gone into settings, activated emoji keyboard but still I can't send them via text. I've just left iPhone and still learning. Am I doing something wrong?

You know the return key on the Google keyboard? Hold that down for a couple of seconds, then a small popup window will allow you to drag your finger to the "emoji" symbol

When using moto voice commands Google search opens but says "opening Google" which is annoying. I had moto x 2014 and 2013, neither did this.
Anyone figure out how to disable this?

Based on comments/threads I've seen for the '14 X, it started doing this as well with the most recent update to moto Voice
Everyone says theirs is doing this but yet my Turbo doesn't. It just passes the query to Google Search. Weird.
Same here, annoying as can be. I set my M8 up w/ Nova and Google Now always listening and never had this. My wife's Ultra from last year simply does what you ask. None of this passing to Google. Between this and the inability for data/talk I'm having second thoughts. If only, if only, if only the N6 wasn't so damm big. Turbo is perfect size but seems to use half finished software.
Is it possible to install and use Moto Voice app on the Nexus 6? ..considering it has the hardware to support it and is motorola. It just has a few more helpful voice commands like the 'find my phone' which would be nice to have.
No, as that is a Motorola app and the Nexus does not use Motorola software.

Have you even tried? Your answer isn't really useful...
There was a port of moto suite to the max or maybe razor don't remember which just Google moto port and look on xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687141
This may work
I hope there's a Dev that can hack/port it over to the N6. I love Moto suite
+1 for hoping that the Moto Suite will work with N6.
It is simple, its already there.. All u need to do is
1. Settings> language and input >language, also select English(India) .
2. Then scroll down go to voice input and select enhanced google services (click on the gear wheel)> languages, select english india and then on "ok" google detection , u will now see "retrain voice model" try anything that stats with ok . i have ok moto as mine..
Iam not sure if step 1 is required or not but i stumbled upon it by accident and those are the settings i have now, all though my keyboard language say English(US)
Firstly, Merry Christmas Moto X peeps!
Ok so I am grateful for Motorola to include touches control. Love it. But I recently realized that enabling touchless control through Google Now on my Nexus 7 has a way faster hotword detection than the Motorola touchless control way. Unfortunately when I try to disable Touchless control on the Moto X and then enable Google's "Ok, Google" hotword detection the option is greyed out. I'm sure this has been discussed before but I was unable to find the answer. I have an unlocked bootloader, rooted, xposed, running stock 4.4.2. Is anybody aware of a method for enabling the Google Now hotword detection instead of Motorola's Touchless control?

Try UnleashTheGoogle to allow moto x for the hotword detection. This worked for me.

Found the app, but the hotword detection is still greyed out.

Even if you did switch to it, You'd lose touchless control. It won't work when screen is off.
Also, it will take its share of battery life from you, where moto's touchless control battery drain is minor.
Just food for thought. ?

Great points. Didn't think of it not working when the screen was off. Or the battery drain for that matter. Much appreciated.

I don't know if it will work on screen off as I am still waiting for my moto x to arrive (got one as a secondary device and I am excited about it) but I am pretty sure the google now option to listen is greyed out because you don't have English US set as your system language (it's got to be US if you set it to UK for example it won't work) and then again you may have to set it again through google now options too for it to actually work. Give it a try and tell me how it goes.

I do have mine set to English US, but I have opted to stick with Moto's voice recognition due to the above advice. Thanks for the input though!
