I've currently got a working gold card for my ATT HD7S. I'm able to flash any ROM (including the 5.x Europe ROM).
First question: other than the ATT ROM, which STOCK ROM would be most appropriate for a T9295?
Second: This will sound paranoid, but I'm concerned about the different modem/radio. In terms of interference, I don't want to do anything dangerous or illegal. Could flashing a European T9292 ROM to my T9295 create any issues in this regard? Maybe enable bad WiFi frequencies, broadcasts, etc.?

Why are you wanting to flash a different stock rom? What would be the advantages?
I've flashed the DFT rom to my HD7S and not had any issues.

I'm actually considering flashing the T-Mobile ROM. Reports over at Microsoft Answers suggest that the T-Mobile update has fixed the Zune Music freeze problem. It's driving me nuts, and I'm never expecting a fix for the HD7S...
Based on the speaker/call quality issue, it's pretty obvious that they don't care about major functions being broken on this phone.

Also, DFT is based on the generic Europe ROM, right?
Still wondering about this. Are region specific settings like Wifi channels dependent on the ROM or the device? Will an American device with a European ROM use Wifi on channels 12-14 (against FCC rules)? Surely not? I'm only asking because I read somewhere that using channel 12 might have been causing WiFi ICS issues.
Hi
Just wondering whether anyone has an XT bought from O2 UK, as I am looking to get one of these phones, and whether you were able to unlock the bootloader (do O2 allow it?)
Also, what state are CM10/10.1 in right now, as in what does/doesn't work.
Thanks

I don't have O2, but this has been dealt with several times in the forum before regarding unlockable phone or not.
Type *#*#7378423#*#* and check with "Configuration" for youself
@datagubben
I think he is asking before he buys the device.
@razzmataz1478
I suggest ask the salesman when he sells it to you, and if he cannot answer the question goto to vodafone, every single phone I have from them is sim unlocked and bootloader unlockable.

I'll be buying this online, as it's refurbished and quite cheap, albeit on a bad tariff (100MB internet :crying.
I did talk to an online adviser who was pretty useless and had no idea what a bootloader was, so that is why I came here to see if anyone with an O2 branded version could tell me. I shall wait for an answer

It'll probably be the same as my xperia T (sounds like the same deal i got), the bootloader is not unlockable on mine.
I'm on o2, got the Xperia t. I'm locked completely :/ we're hoping for a kexec or some other way around it by tampering in the ta, but nothing yet.

I'm fairly sure O2 phones are locked for good. I got mine off phones4u having cancelled my O2 order after finding out this was the case.

Hm that doesn't sound too good. I'm still thinking of getting the T but I was looking forward to putting some CM ROM on it. Guess I'll have to live without. Thanks guys.
What about flashing a generic ROM? Would that work? I've never owned a phone with a locked bootloader so I'm not sure how they work.

Of course they can....whats your point? Stock FTF's are complete stock roms.
Got my Xperia T on o2 through Tesco Phone Shop,
sim unlocked and unlockable bootloader.
My Xperia T is from O2 which was sim locked and bootloader locked.
Thanks to the folks at Cellunlocker.net, after emailing them, 2 days later my sim was unlocked, and my O2 sim was set on fire and extinguished through urination.
Cost £25 through Cellunlocker, O2 cost £20 AFTER 12 months usage.

True, He did say that, but since its blindinly obvious that that is allowed I interpreted his "generic" rom to mean a "stock based" rom, looks like we got our wires crossed.
Edit
To clarify the point
All phones can flash stock FTF files
Rooted phones with recovery can flash stock based roms and FTFs
Unlocked bootloaders can flash custom kernels, all custom roms, stock based roms and FTFs
Good that you clarified it Greg, I agree that it was not completely clear what he meant.

Right that's made it clearer for me, thanks.
I'm in India but got an o2 uk unlocked XT!! the bootloader is locked forever. better not to buy from o2
So far I haven't seen a whole lot on this just that CM doesn't work right now. Does that mean roms like Paranoid Android and PAC Man won't work either??
Which type of roms will work?
Can anyone list a few of the best ones? Mine's coming through UPS on Wednesday and I wanna be prepared to do everything right away. Thanks!
I assume you mean the C6606 (the T-Mobile US Z).
If so, you can only flash stock based roms.
The bootloader cannot be unlocked on the C6606. Locked bootloader means no custom kernels, which in turn means no roms like PA, CM, PAC etc will work.
So, to answer your question, any rom that says it's for locked bootloader should work.

Okay I've since rooted my phone and installed dual recovery. do I only have to flash that 15mb ftf file now? That's where I'm stuck at. The instructions in that forum didn't exactly work for me. Can you tell me everything you did please? Hopefully you can get back to me in the next ten hours thanks for your help
I'm opening flashtools. I click flash at the top, click flashmode, then I click that newest ftp and click flash. The window that says wait for flashtool pops up.I power off my phone..hold down the volume up button and enter the usb cable. The light turns blue and I believe that's fastboot mode but nothing happens. That window just stays open on my computer. It's ftf C6603_10.3.1A.0.244_GenericCE-stripped.ftf

Volume up is fastboot. You don't want to be in fastboot mode.
You need to hold volume down and plug the USB cable in to enter flashmode to use flashtool.

I have the T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z. First I rooted with doomlords method. Then I installed dual recovery. I made a backup of my phone and installed the newest ftf file using flashtools. Then right after I flashed the rom that was posted above. It's working great so far and you keep lte and wifi. Hope that helps. It really is the best rom available to us at the moment because of the locked bootloader.

i have been researching this. it doesnt seem like there is going to be anyone who can unlock the bootloader. but there might be another way around it kind of like "mini loader" basically we will be able to flash aosp roms and custom kernals just no unlocked bootloader. pretty much jump thru hoops to do anything with c6606 t-mobile has Royally F'ed us... i really want someone to unlock that bootloader n RUB IT IN THEIR FACE! i dont know why they bothered with this... but theres got to be a way around this.... keep on hoping and lets see what happens i guess...
My xperia z should be arriving in the mail soon so I have a few questions. Just to confirm can the dual recovery foound here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606 be installed on the c6606? Also are there any custom roms based on the t-mobile firmware because I would like to keep wifi calling. Thanks.

He meant Wifi Calling, which is only available on T-Mobile firmware. He just put a period in the wrong place.
Bump...any new Roms where we don't lose wi-fi calling?
None that Ive seen. Only ROMs for locked BL that are coming out are based on firmware made for the international market (4.2.2), none on T-Mobile (4.1.1).
The locked BL is really disappointing. Really limits the possibilities. I bought the Z on impulse and didnt research the Development situation on the Tmobile version before i bought, now im regretting it. I love the hardware and design, but will likely be trading it in by Christmas because of the lack of options for custom ROMs. Samsungs may be ugly as hell but you can hack the hell out of them. If HTC makes a phablet with the design of the One, Ill probably make the switch.
Back on topic, which LB ROM is most recommended and bug free? Any way to fix the poor wifi signal? Its chewing my battery like nobody's business.

Really disappointed with no custom Roms too might trade for another phone but not going to samsuck. Still have faith in what the devs here can do though.

Hi, I have a xperia z T-Moble (c6606) , but i´m living in mexico, its sim unlocked, and i want to upgrade it to 4.4 kitkat, i have tried to upgrade it via OTA and PC Companion, but the upgrade dont appear, i thought upgrading via flashtool but, i dont know what rom can i use, could someone give me a hand with it? thank you

Ask in the thread, or in Q&A, don't clog up the general with these simple question threads. But yes, follow the tutorials (Pro-tip: Use the search function! It's super useful!) for flashtool and flash any ftf from any region, some have different apps pre-installed etc. you can use them from any region. I bought a UK sim-free Xperia Z and I've flashed Taiwanese, German and Belgian ftf's.
No harm in trying, just make backup before. I'm on c6606 but in US and have always flashed UK or EU branded and they worked fine I just had to input my APNs for cell coverage.

I called t mobile US today. They have me the run around of we are testing it. Then the lay just stopped talking after I said most other TMo around the world have released it as had the generic US. The lay wouldn't give me an ETA. Then she didn't want to talk to me when I mentioned they missed several 4.3 versions.
All in all, I wouldn't wait on them. Wait for a pre rooted on here and go for it.

C6006 user here. From experience, there's not much difference between C6606 and C6603 firmware beside the band and customization.
Download the lastest FTF, make sure its for C6603, and flash.
As a precaution, tick "Baseband" when flashing.
I think you should try Canadian Bell?

Hey guys, I was on sammobile and downloaded about 2 or 3 different T817* firmwares that failed to flash in odin(obviously). I was wondering if there wouldnt be anyone who would be able to take these and modify them to be flashed on the T817T. I was just looking for stock rooted pretty much.
Is this possible? I know we wouldn't have a Kernel specifically for the T817T but I can't imagine that the different variants are that different. Yes I know they are different but I haven't been able to find much about what exactly the differences are between the different variations, besides the T817T is T-Mobile.
Please let me know if this is a pipe dream or what exactly is involved in making this happen. I understand that this may be impossible but I will admit that I don't know much about it.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Why did they fail in Odin what was the reason?
ive been able to successfully flash a few things that werent for this device.. SM-T817T.. but when i say successfully... i mean Odin took it and pushed it and made a PASS successful. but booting was obviously a failure until i found the right one which was for USA t-mobile.
