[Q] Does anyone's Vivid display External SD in Play Music? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

The newest version of Google Play Music is supposed to have implemented external SD storage for saving music offline to your library.. I've seen screen shots of both the option being selected and the option being greyed out due to there being no external SD card, but the newest version of Play Music doesn't show the option at all.
I've attached a screenshot of my settings where the option should be, right underneath the download queue. Does anyone else's Play Music look like this or is it maybe my SD card? Is there a special way to format a micro SD before you use it? I didn't do anything to it and it mounts and displays files on it just fine, but it also doesn't show up in TWRP. 64GB SanDisk Ultra

adding new music

When I add new music to my sdcard via PC or downloading through the browser it doesn't show up in the stock music app.
I can open the file directly through a file explorer or browser download screen and it will play but it will have no options eg: no repeat or add to playlist
Has anyone come across this? Once I restart the phone it will show up correctly.
I noticed there is a media scanner in spare parts or dev tools but it doesn't help.
mine shows up pretty quick, where do you put the music onthe sd card and how do you dismount the sd card?
Had that problem too, a long time ago. Probably even before I got my Nexus and used a Galaxy Spica. What I did was download songs to my SD card over the network using ES File Explorer. I think Android doesn't really monitor the SD card, all it does is scan when the SD card is mounted. This way, if you use USB to transfer media from your PC, and then disconnect it, it gets mounted again, and the media scanner will run and find the new files. Any other way is probably broken... maybe you can trigger a scan by unmounting and remounting the SD card (from the settings menu)...
I remember there being an application on the market, sdcard rescan or something that did that.
yup, thats normal, if you copy music to the sd through an application. android does not monitor the filesystem for new music files and only scans on mount (which happens on bootup).
but yeah ther was an app for that. does anybody have the name?

perfect.
thanks for the mount tips too. makes sense.
or if your rom comes with "Dev Tools" just open media scanner.
Good one, forgot about that.

[Q] Spotify storage.

I can't get Spotify to use the external microSD 16GB card to store my offline music. I've been in contact with Spotify's support and they told me that the app automatically selects the largest storage unit by default. Still after factory resets and re-formating of the microSD card Spotify still stores everything on the internal SD card for some reason.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks in advance!
Hi.
I had the same problem and spent ages searching for an answer until I found this link on the spotify forum.
All you need to do is uninstall Spotify download the version from the link below, install it, then sync. It works!!

[Q] Albums, photos on SD card issue

I'm using 4.3 , My internal sony phone memory got full and an icon came up that says transfer to SD card to save space. So i clicked OK and they transferred. Problem is the Album app doesn't show the photos anymore, even when I'm in the app and i go to a icon that says "SD card" it shows nothing
If i use a file manager, i can see the photos just fine on the SD card. Why isn't the album app showing the photos? Anyone else have this issue?

Will there be a 6.0 update?

What does everyone think the chances of getting official 6.0/Marshmallow on the Amazon Fire tablet (2015)?
I know its one of the cheapest budget tablets available and so dont have big expectations. But the main reason I would be interested in 6.0 is the new sd card feature, where you would be able to properly make use of a large micro sd card, as the built-in 8GB (or whats actually available) will get filled up pretty easily.
Well it may get Amazon's version of it eventually, but Amazon's rom does let you move a lot to the SD card anyway. Under 5.1.1 there are options for
Install Supported Apps on your sd card
Download Movies and TV shows to your sd card
Download music to your sd card
Store photos and personal videos on your sd card
Mind you not sure which count as "supported apps"

Is there a way to move large games to your SD card? They always install to the Android/obb file location on the internal and not the Android/obb on the SD card.
I've been wondering the same thing too. I've moved the game to sd card but it's data in obb has to be on internal or it can't see it.

Exactly, games like GTA: San Andreas is 2 or more gigs so that knocks a huge portion out of the internal not to mention the system seems like it runs slower the more data is saved to the internal.

If you're rooted et al, install xposed and use the module "obb to sd". I do, it works perfectly. Nothing like moving Hearthstone to the sd to free up space.

On SlimLP I have this app running https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd. It works perfectly. I have a 64GB SD and a 32GB ext4 partition for apps. The other 32GB is in exfat for general files and such forth.

Is there any way to force all downloaded movies to be stored only in my 128GB SDcard?

I have one New BLU-R1/16GB and also a BLU-R1/8GB, and I have installed on each of them 128GB MicroSD Memory Cards.
Neither of my 2 BLU cell phones is rooted, and after selecting to use my MicroSD card as an SD-Card, I successfully moved all my APPs, except the systems ones, to this SD-Card...
But although I have 128GB of memory in each cellphone, I noticed that if I download a movie using the "Amazon Video" APP, this file is always stored in the internal memory and not in the SD-Card memory.
Does anyone know if there is any way to force all downloaded movie files to be stored only in this 128GB memory, using the Amazon Video APP?
Thanks in advance!
I have noticed that the latest update v4.13.1 (build 14562) of the Netflix APP, allows to save the downloaded movies on the external SD card, anyone can tell if this is possible on the BLU R1 using the Amazon Video APP?:
"- SD Card support.
New "Download Location" app setting that lets you control where to save downloaded content: Internal Storage or SD Card (new permission requested)"
As I mentioned before, I would like to force all downloaded movies, using the Amazon Video APP, to be stored only in my 128GB External SD Card... So I would greatly appreciate if someone can help me with this matter...
Thanks in advance!
