Wanam Xposed! padlock - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I haven't seen a solution this yet... Thought I'd ask to be sure. Using Wanam Xposed, I get the 'custom' screen at boot. I didn't get this screen using Nottach. Is it possible to remove the custom boot screen?

For me on my s4 active I am running the Google ROM and anytime I see the padlock I flash back to stock ROM using safestrap then back to Google ROM and the normal " Galaxy s4 active" screen comes back. Might or might not work for you. Good luck.

Just ignore it if you like Wanams Mod. At least it's only on boot. I tried to find a way to get rid of it but it's still there. FWIW, Wanams mod works better than Nottach, at least for me, so I stopped caring about the lock.

Does this mean I cracked the bootloader?

after a series of unintentional steps, I decided to reboot my phone
when I did so I saw an unlocked sign with "Custom" written below it ...
I immediately rebooted and tried the recovery shortcut and got the attached screen
does this mean I unlocked the bootloader accidentally?
Im no expert but the steps might clarify if you actually did anything. It looks like stock recovery tho

Your picture looks like stock recovery. Typically when you root and install certain apps you will get the "Custom" screen that you mentioned. If you search around the AT&T and Verizon S4 forums you will see a lot of posts asking how to get rid of the "Custom" screen. Unfortunately, unless you were actively trying to crack the bootloader I am 99.9% sure you've just done something with a root app that tripped a counter and gave you the "Custom" screen. If you would like to get rid of it try looking at this thread which describes exactly what you have.

thanks guys!
yes, I just changed the bootup audio and rebooted... I thought the encryption might have forced this...
the reason why I thought it might be unlocked is the option to sideload...

[Q] Why does my rom install in seconds and boot to black screen?

I have a note 3 that I'm trying to get Cyanogenmod 11 on to. I should note that I got this working with my Droid Razr earlier today using the exact same process. I get to the point where I flash the rom and it only takes like 5 seconds then says "successful". When I boot the rom I just get a black screen that I have to hold the power button down to get out of. My note 3 is running 4.4.2 I have root and busybox is installed. I've tried safestrap 3.72 and 3.75. I've even tried the stock slot (and then reverted back when it didn't work). I'm out of things to try and I can't find anyone else who has had a similar issue. Anyone got any ideas?
If its an N900A or N900V, you can only run TW based roms because the bootloader is locked.

How are people getting cyanogenmod 11 on their att note 3s if not through safestrap?
I don't know of anyone with an at&t note 3 running CM. It's possible they're using an N900T, or an N9005 Note 3 on at&t.

Well that's sad. I'm assuming any of these will work in the meantime? http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/#romList
They should, just make sure if you're on KK to choose a KK rom.
noob over here needing help
i have the ATT Note 3 with the locked bootloader. i cant rememeber the model name but i think its like I900A. anyway i have had it rooted for about 5 months or so and i have had safestrap and busybox and use Xposed wanam. also using twrp and titanium backup. well i have never flashed anything on it cuz ive always been sketched out with the locked bootloader and not being able to flash kernals and all that. so yesterday i figured i would try one out and see if i could get it. i used the "S5 Experience" rom and i downloaded it from MEGA onto my ext. SD under a new folder i made called "s5 experience". i then went into recovery mode through safestrap and went to "backup" and then made a backup of data, cache, and system. after that i went to "wipe" and did a factory reset/wipe. when that was done i went to "install" and found my "s5 experience" on my ext. SD and installed it. when that was done i rebooted my device and it popped up with the samsung note 3 emblem and under it the little lock underneath it in the unlocked position just like it always has. then went to safestrap with the little red robot and "safestrap: disabled" like always. so i hit continue and from there is when my problem started. the blue LED light on the top left turned on and stayed on but the screen stayed black. this is the problem i am still having right now. if i press the power button it will vibrate or double vibrate and eventualy if i hold it down i can get it to restart. after that i went into recovery again and tried to restore from my backup i had made just earlier. when i try that it goes for a while and then will eventually say that restore has failed. ive mesed with some of the settings and stuff in the twrp recovery interface but not much because im new and not sure what i should and should not be doing. so i started looking here. i didnt find any help on the S5 Experience forum and i havent found and other forums that have this problem except maybe this one. so i am asking for help, if someone would be so kind as to walk me through how to fix my phone and what i did wrong it would be greatly greatly appreciated. if at all possible i would love to keep all of my pics and apps and stuff but if that is not possible then i wont complain if i have to lose it all. i would be happy just to have a working phone again. thanks in advance and sorry if i have posted this in the wrong place.

If you can boot to stock recovery (power+home+volume up) NOT safestrap recovery do a factory reset from there. That'll reflash stock rom and you can reroot + busybox + SS. Make sure to check what build you are on as well - if you are on NC2 kitkat you can only flash kitkat-based roms.

brisinger08, thanks for the input. i was running kit kat. i figured the s5 experience would be based off of kitkat too but i guess i should have checked first. i just tried that. when i got into the recovery boot the little android guy falls over. then i went to factory wipe and let it wipe. after that i went to reboot. when it rebooted it still had the little lock under the Samsung logo and after that screen it went straight to safestrap again. it hasn't seemed to change anything as far as i can tell. any other ideas?

If you're on the A3 bootloader then reflashing NC2 with odin will clear this up, (double-check in download mode) then follow the instructions in this thread. If you're on A2 you can still do this but it will overwrite your bootloader and lock you into NC2 so if that's the case you might want to read through that thread to make sure you're ok with that!

[Q] Cricket S5

Hello all,
I managed to grab a Cricket-branded Galaxy S5. I decided this was the best area to post and ask questions because I believe this phone is locked down the exact same as the AT&T one (and might even be 1:1 other than software and the logo on the back), plus the fact that AT&T owns Cricket.
Currently, I only have the device rooted using TowelRoot.
I want to install SafeStrap, but wasn't sure if it would go smoothly, and I don't have an image to use with ODIN if I mess things up.
Can anyone suggest how to best create a stock image, or provide links/info to a stock ROM for this phone on Cricket?
Model: Samsung SM-G900AZ
Android version: 4.4.2
Baseband: G900AZTUU1ANE7
Kernel: 3.4.0-1732610 [May 29]
Build: KOT49H.G900AZTUU1ANE7
I would like to back it up, install SafeStrap, and try out some custom ROMs (I know Bootloader is locked, so I'd be limited in that regards), or possibly install Xposed to tweak some device behavior.
Can someone please advise?
Thanks.
Install safestrap, the worst that can happen is it may say installed but when you try to reboot to recovery, it will just reboot like normal and its as if the installation didn't actually 'stick'.
That's what happened to me...
After uninstalling the safeatrap installer and re-installing the app, then re-running the app, it said that safestrap was successfully installed, and this time upon tapping 'reboot to SS recovery' it actually worked.
You definitely do not need all the trouble of making a backup right now.. Just install ss and then make a full backup as usual.
Ps we have the same phone
Recently bought a s5 cricket, and what I have rooted for odin using the method cf-root, now I want to change the recovery to philz and change the kernel by one a bit more efficient and thrifty, and read about the Ss but not sure which version should I use because I can not find any for my team, I would assert that this circulating ND3 or that could use?
This is my phone

I hate to tell you that will be impossible..
Unless soneone can correct me, i am 99% sure our boooader is locked and will remain as such.
So, safeatrap is your only option for recovery/flashing, and in addition you will be limited to flashing tw-based Roms. Custom kernels are not an option unless /until the bootloader is unlocked.
Sorry to be the Bearer of bad news

I understand, however I wonder what version of SS I use to at least make a backup of my current rom and to test some custom rooms? the truth is that I feel bound hand and buy the tlf a good price and would like to customize much as my S3, but hey I'll have to resign myself to use it well and lighten the version that brings factory.
Edit : in case anyone wasn't sure here is the link to safestrap http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794087
Hi, I'm kind of new to this, but I have a Cricket S5, and have some quick questions regarding rooting.
1. Is there anyway to fully unroot the cricket phone after rooting it with towelroot? (unvoid the warranty)
2. Will the bootloader ever be unlocked, so that I can flash custom roms?
Thanks for any help!

1. Yes, theres an unroot option in SuperSU that ive suggested to be used or you can reflash with odin, there are guides in the general forum if you check there
2. Will it ever be unlocked? Most likely not. Can it be unlocked? Yes, but unless something pops up it would have to be by getting the decryption key.

The bootloader is unlocked. From the beginning, unlocked. No need to decrypt anything or get a key or any of that hassle.
Yes, you can fully unroot if you choose

There hasn't been much talk around here about the download booster since G900AUCU2AND3 was the latest firmware about 6 months ago. You'd have to downgrade back to NCE and do some other tweeks before you can get that running without losing your GPS or Camera. There is a guide somewhere around here for that. So on lolipop right now, no.
And that nova launcher tweek doesn't really work either like some people claim. It only unhides the feature but doesn't get it to actually work.
I had it working on 4.4, was just wondering since like you said theres not been much talk.g900v has it so maybe port it from there?

It worked in XDK but that was based on a g900f rom which is why I assume it worked. Perhaps I'll need to do this to get it working again. I'll try to look into it but I have so much on my plate I can't promise anything yet.
Ahh download booster is in AllianceROM which I'm running right now. So this seems to be the case. Just wait patiently. It'll find its way back eventually

This Link was the original guide to install Download booster. I'm sure there are updated methods to installing it, so you should search for those. (I followed this guide, but had some issues so I just stopped using it.)
Anyways, follow the guide all of the way to the end. Then open up Rom Toolbox Pro, or similar app. Locate RTBP's app manager, then go to the Settings.apk, tap on it, then go to "Advanced Freeze"
Scroll down until you see Download Booster, tap on it to Enable. (It is disabled by default.)
Reboot phone and it should work... for a little while. For whatever reason mine keeps turning off. I guess I should have used the files that were updated for 4.4.4.
Common sense would indicate this (but I'm lazy) but if I had to guess, Just download the 5.x version of the files indicated in the guide above and then enable download booster in the advanced freeze menu. It will probably work then...
Hope this helps.
P.S. I'm pretty sure you won't have to downgrade. But if you do, I suggest that you refrain from doing so. In the end, it will only be an @$$ pain.
P.P.S If someone wants to smali these files on the 5.x firmware for AT&T I'll see if I can edit/recompile them for download booster. After that I will need the 5.x Download booster.apk and I will try to write a more comprehensive guide.

Make a backup before you do anything
1) Just follow the link I posted earlier, with exception that the files come from a more recent ROM (i.e 5.0).
2)Be sure to copy/install them to the correct location.
3)Then use whatever app that allows an "Advanced Freeze/Unfreeze" and Unfreeze the Download Booster.
*****Example*******
I have Rom Toolbox Pro, so I would open it. Then tap "App Manager." Then scroll down to "Download Booster," tap on it, then tap "OK" to enable.
Then I nav to the corresponding folder, rename old files to "services.jar.bak" and so on, Then paste/move/whatever the new files into the directory.
*****End Example*****
Once again, I should point out that I have had issues trying to use this. The booster would randomly crash, and other times it would just disable the Activity completely, I'm not sure why it did that though... So I just gave up on this until I can find the updated files.

I have the notion to agree with this statement. My Idea was to take a peak at these files and then add the necessary lines to the AT&T packages, to help ensure compatibility. Then bundle in the DB.apk and viola! (Or, at least in theory it should work... right?)
I just need to find the files in the first place. If you can somehow provide a link the the VZW files, I can try work on it... no guarantees of any kind though.

I had some issues with rom toolbox, so i replaced the services.jar with this one https://www.dropbox.com/s/vziudszmba2l9zm/services.jar (I did backup the original) and rebooted, planning on finishing the process with rom toolbox on boot, but i got stuck at the AT&T logo screen until the battery died, i'm not sure which file you were referring to, but i either used the wrong one or you need to activate download booster immediately after replacement of the file, either way i'm going to have to reflash so anyone else be advised. Didn't have a backup sadly, worse things have happened though.

One of the reasons why AT&T has the download booster disabled is because it's not fully compatible with their software. I got mine working a while ago, but had issues with private mode, hotspot, gps, and camera. It just made the phone too unstable, the reason why the original poster as well as the others from that thread got away from it. It worked best on NCE, but after upgrading, there were too many issues that were never resolved.

Interesting Service mode

So I just got a factory replacement for the s6 edge and it came with an interesting mode turned on. I'm attaching pictures. Don't know if anyone knows how to get in here, so I will just leave it as is for a few days, in case you have certain requests.
But if you DO know how to get into this mode, please share.
....
Is it always like that? Or can you reboot and come back into normal Android?

Well, I THOUGHT it would go into normal mode if I reboot. Turns out the phone is stuck in that service mode. Powercycling just displays "Factory Binary" before going back to it. Pic attached.
It's as if OS wasn't loaded.... I guess a call to Samsung support is in order.

No leave it here just need someone who devs to give it a thumbs up or thumbs down real quick, probably won't amount to much but with a shot

not much is in this factory binaries. It just means that whoever worked in your order forgot to flash the retail firmware. lol The system is a bit unsecured as you can root it without flashing custom kernels..whoever if you try mismatch factory and retail firmwares most of the time the phone simply wont boot.
A couple of questions.
1. How do I make sure I get a matching retail version?
2. I actually prefer to use custom ROMs, how do I match one to this factory firmware?
3. Would root and the ROM process differ in any way from how it's usually done?
IMHO production Samsung kernel shall never get Permissive status for SELinux as the switch is killed (CONFIG_SECURITY_SELINUX_DEVELOP not defined)
So whom ever installed this ROM for you must had forgotten to flash back to production ROM before sending it back to you...
I can't tell how useful it is for now, obviously it may not come with an actual SU binary, but maybe some privileged daemon/service in background. However, it is still 5.0.2 ...
So in plain English.... There is no way to flash regular operating system on it?
