Game Lag - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone help me?
For the most part, the HTC One is fast. But I have a problem with one game in particular.
Drag Racing
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.creativemobile.DragRacing
When the cars take off from the line, it's incredibly slow and cumbersome. I have a couple more observations.
1. It's better on Sense, but still laggy
2. It's terrible on Google Edition
3. It's better when I disable hardware acceleration, but still laggy
4. My Nexus 4, Moto G and Galaxy Blaze 4g work wonderful with this game. No lag at all
Why does the One have so much trouble with this app?

Figured out the GPU is pegged on the One during startup. See pictures below.

Anyone?

Tegra 3 games really really slow?

I've been playing around with the nexus 7 for around two days now and noticed huge amounts of lag everywhere. From the menus to browsing and even gaming.
I tried Modern Combat 3 and it just stutters so bad and the frame rate drops are huge, even my galaxy s2 performed better than this.
I bought the new Batman game yesterday and that was exactly the same. In game play it lags and stutters too much to be even playable.
I have installed the latest update and even did a factory reset and it has made no difference. The thing is I watched someone playing Modern Combat 3 on the nexus 7 on YouTube and it was flawless, is there something wrong with
my unit or has the update done something?
P.S I tried Dead Trigger, Puddle THD, Dark Meadow and all are the same

I get lag on Sonic Episode 2 THD but nothing else, I thought this game was optimised for tegra 3?

No lag at all on anygames. Especially tegra3 optiMized ones.
One thing I noticed though. I noticed yesterday it seemed all My games had a brief pause every few seconds. I was like wtf is going on, wasn't like that before. I started thinking something happened from me unlocking and rooting. So I look through my apps to see what could be causing it. Low and behold the force rotation app I had. I had it set to force auto rotation. So I changed it to normal auto rotation. It solved the issue. The forced auto rotation was causing issues with my games. Putting it back on normal auto rotation put everything back to normal.

Remove Android Lag [entropy]

Someone just messaged me this "fix" for android lag
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35971545&postcount=20669
I personally haven't noticed any lag but thought it might be worth sharing here.
sorry if its already been shared
I don't really notice a difference.
The typical Android hiccups are still there.

What's lag?

I don't experience any lag at all from this device (and didn't on my S2 running Cyanogenmod for that matter either).
No lag to report on the Nexus 4... But interesting read nonetheless. Might use it on the Galaxy S2 (Which DOES lag, even though some say it doesn't. Compare both N4 and S2 side by side... It's painful to watch)
Is this like jet lag?
Who Lag?
More like turbo lag

No lag here on this badboy!
The lag is from the way Android was designed originally. Not all apps are even optimized for the platform and others are quick ports from other platforms. Also they are still lacking with hardware to software optimizations.

The're some apps which are lagging. But the Nexus4 itself? Bullsh**!!!
Smoothest Android phone ever (just compare to the Note 2, this phone lags!)

Agreed. It may be the applications that lag but not the system itself. I have yet to see a hiccup when browsing through my Nexus.

There are some pretty awful frame drops when using the device in landscape, especially in the app drawer. I wonder if this fixes that.

Don't lie.
The Nexus 4 might be the smoothest Android device, but it is still lagging compared to other systems like iOS or WP 7/8

Compared to my iPhone 4 the N4's browser is like internet explorer vs chrome.
Sounds like snake oil. Androids remaining lag is too deeply rooted to be squashed with some shell code parlor trick. Android gives content fetching more priority than rendering the UI, it's something that Google has to take care of by rewriting the framework. Ios does this beautifully btw, it doesn't need 4 cores for fluid scrolling and even with 4 cores nexus can't touch it ... yet.

Laggy OS

so i have had nexus 7 for awhile and even with 4.2.1 and custom rom the device i thought it would be as smooth as an iPhone however its really laggy at times does anyone else have this issue with games and loading apps it just seems so wrong to have a penta core processor and the buttery effects of 4.1 to feel laggy
This is the 10th time I'm reading this here! -.-

Rumor has it that the lower your IQ, the more laggy the N7 is. It's called "User IQ AI," and is a new feature of 4.2 and up.

Sell it and go buy an ipad.
Oh my... I think there are hundreds of threads like this one! Why can't you use that search function? You think it's there for nothing?

How frequently does the sense launcher redraw?

I am looking at getting a new phone near Christmas and the HTC One is my top wish list.
If I visit large image intensive webpages like the verge, guardian.co.UK or do any memory demanding applications, how frequent does the launcher ha e to redraw?
Is 2gb enough to prevent it from redrawing unless playing graphically intensive games?
Sent from my GT-I9000
Never, not once had a redraw.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Same here, have my one for about 2 months now, and never experienced a sense redraw.
Even after playing games like vice city, shadowgun or modern combat 4, launcher is still in memory.

[Q] Moto X Lag

I find that the Moto X lags more than both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. I've used it with Dalvik as well as ART but am not impressed with its performance.
Lag is noticeable when moving multiple Facebook Messenger chat heads when Chrome is loading pages.
Also Chrome seems to flicker with black screens, which does not happen on other devices.
*I also use the GEL, not sure if that takes more resources to run.
Does anyone else experience such performance issues?
I'm just wondering since droid-life seems to love this phone but I always am frustrated by its performance.
Honestly I think you got a dud because there are like a million threads on here saying the exact opposite, I've never had a single lag or stutter

Well, I have to agree with you. I get the occasional lag while scrolling on chrome. The N4 was smooth as I remember.
the only time i've had issues with chrome acting like a pig is when i load a website that isn't optimized for mobile. typically there are resource intense scripts, too many adverts and/or multiple pop up style ads that also run scripts. xda even sometimes acts like a pig in chrome and its not device independent.
if you want to see performance lag, use a device with 512MB of RAM. the X is a beast and handles more than my '12 N7 (and I thought that thing flew).
I believe the lag was caused by the Google Experience Launcher (GEL).
I did a factory restore and installed an updated version of GEL and that tremendously improved performance and reduced lag.

Also chrome is notorious for having issues with kitkat

I haven't used chrome for a very long time....cause in my humble opinion, it sucks donkey things.....
But never had lag of any kind...even out of the box, before I rooted and tweaked the poop outta it.
