Welcome! Ask away. Were here to help.
via my slapped KIT KAT moto X rockin on Verizon

My advice.... There isn't a whole lot in this forum section. Read, read read. Especially things to do with customizing/altering the phone. Read everything to do with that stuff. If you don't understand it... Read it again.... Google things....
The more you know, the easier life will be if you plan on tinkering with your phone. And less likely you'll brick it.
That's my advice. Not a fan of leading anyone step by step through things when all the information is here. And nothing is learnt being led.
Good luck!

Take a look at this then. Currently, it's been pulled, and there doesn't seem to be any new activity here, but it was there for a little while...

The link in the last post is the rom I was referring to. Most of the ICS rooms can be found on the droidhive forums.
You asked a yes or no question so I gave you a yes or no answer.
I recommend waiting for an official ics if you really want blur so badly.
Or just get an ics theme for your blur rom as you wait it out.

Why not just link to it in the first place or tell him where to find it and save the forum some posts. Just because it was a yes or no question, don't mean your actually helping by only saying yes.

In the top right there is a search button.
If people actually use it this thread would never have started.

Some people use the xda app, which doesn't have a search button on top. I have barely used a computer to access xda in almost 6 months. On another note, finding things for the bionic is much harder than it is on many other devices. This is my first android which I had to use 4-5 different websites to find all the files I needed. With my previous phones, xda was the first place to look for something, but with the bionic, it seems like xda is the last place you want to check. With some files, it was easier to google bionic root than it was to find it on here.
I've always felt that the rooting community are the embasssadors for Android and unless we are actively developing, we should be more than willing to help others who are having problems. The more we can help them, the less they will have to bother the developers for help. While some questions are based on people being lazy, many of them are based on the user not knowing better. The bionic seems to have a lot of newer android owners which helps explain the repetition of questions. I suggest when offering help, also let the user know of the rules we go by when searching before asking.
The sooner someone can get their phone running nice, the sooner they can go show it off to their friends and help promote the growth of android. I know I used to impress my iPhone friends back when I was new with wifi tether. They couldn't get a signal and needed to use mine. A couple of those people are now on Android.

I agree with everything you said, OTHER then the search functionality. I as well only use the XDA app. But from the home screen if the app, if you click the upper right hand tabs that says "more" it has the search function there. Which would save reposts over and over in all phone forums. It is irritating to read through forums, looking for new things, and reading the same questions over and over.

Bootloader to be unlocked

Yes, Motorola is planning to have the bootloader unlocked. The thing is, no one knows when.
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
You've already posted that here.
Tech support knows less than we do most of the time. Means absolutely nothing.
That's why its in general. To have a conversation about it. I posted it in the other forum to just show, not start a new conversation there about it. Since that one is strictly for bootloader unlocking. I will speak with another tech support to see if I get the same result

Does this mean Motorola will get the bounty we started? Maybe we should tell them, after all it might help seeing they aren't doing well enough to stop laying people off!

Yea I will donate my bounty if Motorola Unlocks my phone. So hopefully Moto reads this and wants to help starving children in Africa.
If Motorola unlocks the bootloader, then I'll be more than happy to donate my pledge to a reputable charity. But this is good news, hopefully that tech support rep knew what they were talking about!
Besides that I'm sure moto could give 2 f*[email protected] about a few hundred dollars lol.

Moto X Development: Any big devs confirmed?

We've already got great work out there with excellent apps and mods bringing some CM functionality to rooted Moto X owners. As someone who has paid a ridiculously high price for a dev edition phone (I figured I saved up enough cash resisting an upgrade from my GNex for almost 2 years), I was wondering if any of the most popular devs have stated that they are working on Moto X ports of their ROMs i.e. cyanogen, aokp, PA, liquidsmooth, etc. Quick Google search does not return any results, wondering if anyone here had any insight. Thanks!!
I know hashcode, dhacker, and bmc08gt all have one.

Is there anybody actively trying to hack/unlock bootloader?

I have only had my phone for about a week. Love it. I know the phone is fairly new but this is the quietest forum I've ever seen. Are there devs behind the scene hacking away at this locked bootloader? I've picked up a lot of knowledge over the years by paying attention and help from the devs. I wish I could help but that kind of stuff is over my head.

Are there any news on D958 or bootloader somewhere?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I have never owned an LG before. Always Samsung, and it seems the Sammy's get a little more attention. They have a huge chunk of the market now. I just wanted to try something new this time. I really like the phone and I really hope they crack this thing. Cause like all of you I'm a flashoholic! Why else would we be here discussing this on XDA I am glad to hear there are some smart guys out there doing their thing though.

Thnks for your help.
Can someone post a link to the actual KitKat from WALMART site where Da Kine got that KitKat at ? Looks good. I think I want that on my FLEX. Is it compatible with the d959? Can we keep root, or will it melt in your hand not in your mouth ?
I motion that we reopen Da Kine's KitKat for the D959 thread back up! People where getting a good laugh out of it. It wasnt hurting anybody and everybody needs a good laugh. Looks like you my sir could use one yourself.

About time the a moderator/moderators do something about all of the pointless KitKat threads, jeesh, I was beginning to think we didn't have any mods for our Flex.
Anyways, since my thread was closed (even though I posted in the correct section) i'll repost the pictures. Apparently, mattwheat says that you can get this version of kitkat at Walmart, so I guess if you want KitKat on your G Flex, go to walmart. I'm sure it's compatible with every varient of the G Flex. Post pictures of KitKat on your Flex if your lucky enough to get it lol. :highfive: :good:

I don't see the exact version that I have, but they should be the same and compatible with every variant of the G Flex. Root works for me, you literally just put it on your phone, it will melt in your hand if you hold it too long though, its one of those annoying bugs that haven't been removed yet. :highfive:

There's nothing to be sorry about, the KitKat threads were getting out of hand and really annoying. I just made mine for sh*ts and giggles, everyone can use a good laugh now and then. I know mods are busy and have lives of there own, but I was just surprised at how long it took for them to do something about the threads. I know that we can report threads, but I'm not going to sit here and do their job or make it any easier for them.
No hard feeling towards any members or mods, I was just trying to make others laugh and smile. Now let's focus back on getting this dang phone a custom recovery and Roms.

Alright,
I'm posting here in hopes that someone will be able to help me out with this.
I've done the back to stock thing with the LG software, and the serial number and blah blah. Now I'm interested in getting to Kitkat and and retaining root.
Now, in the thread that was locked (an already developed topic about a specific subject and never should have been locked.), people were posting the most incoherent series of events that lead to them retaining root.
Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730366
Here's an example of a grammatically butchered quote:
I rooted my flex. Then as i was rooting it, it was downloading. Kk. When my root rebooted, the update started. When i came atop, i had both. I used titanium this morning to remove the bloat ware. I got the flex around 5pm yesterday so i haven't had time to use a lot of root apps yet.

This makes no sense phonetically at all. If you're attempting to help people, please put it into a coherent sentence structure that we can follow.
Anyways, my question is this. For those of you who have successfully updated, what was the exact process? Leave out any details that don't matter (i.e, when you got your flex.)
Post step by step details.
So what it looks like is multiple people had the update downloading. Then before they went to reboot for the update, they rooted with ioroot. When ioroot rebooted the phone, it processed the upgrade and kept root. Is that correct?
Here are the exact steps i used to update and retain root. I restored to factory, rooted with ioroot, took the ota.

Yeah but you should see the bloat in the Walmart version. But it does have the "Rollback" apk . And self checkout. But I believe its a requirement to wear sweat pants and a dirty Garfield sweatshirt while using it. (Or mullet).
