Is there anybody actively trying to hack/unlock bootloader? - LG G Flex

I have only had my phone for about a week. Love it. I know the phone is fairly new but this is the quietest forum I've ever seen. Are there devs behind the scene hacking away at this locked bootloader? I've picked up a lot of knowledge over the years by paying attention and help from the devs. I wish I could help but that kind of stuff is over my head.

yes

Aznrice2k4 is working on it, djrbliss and shellnut r definitely capable of this but I don't think they have the flex I no they r genius and did amazing things for lg but idk I think we r screwed Im banking on aznrice2k4 . I was thinking about doing a bounty thread for custom recovery for our beast but I no bounty threads are not loved by every1

Lg G Flex D958
Rooted (IOROOT was my root method)
BusyBox Installed
Bootloader still locked
No Recovery Available for this model...
Are there any news on D958 or bootloader somewhere?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I have never owned an LG before. Always Samsung, and it seems the Sammy's get a little more attention. They have a huge chunk of the market now. I just wanted to try something new this time. I really like the phone and I really hope they crack this thing. Cause like all of you I'm a flashoholic! Why else would we be here discussing this on XDA I am glad to hear there are some smart guys out there doing their thing though.

Im on the same boat i always had sammys never had any bootloader probs and alwayys had recovery. Boy i sure miss odin?

Moto X Development: Any big devs confirmed?

We've already got great work out there with excellent apps and mods bringing some CM functionality to rooted Moto X owners. As someone who has paid a ridiculously high price for a dev edition phone (I figured I saved up enough cash resisting an upgrade from my GNex for almost 2 years), I was wondering if any of the most popular devs have stated that they are working on Moto X ports of their ROMs i.e. cyanogen, aokp, PA, liquidsmooth, etc. Quick Google search does not return any results, wondering if anyone here had any insight. Thanks!!
I know hashcode, dhacker, and bmc08gt all have one.

[DEV][ROM] Porting CM11 to LG G Flex

Who am I?
Hello, my name is Lorenzo I am 16 y.o. and I am from Italy. I started falling in love w/ Android in 2010 with my first LG P500 (Optimus One). Now I own a phone store and I can have almost any phone for good price but I loved the LG G Flex since I saw it, at the presentation. I ordered it from China 5 days after. It arrived 3 weeks ago.
What do I want from you, the XDA Community?
I need to get in touch with some good Android developers to port the PURE GOOGLE custom rom is available for the LG G2 to the LG G Flex (since they are really similar devices). I tried downloading it, trying to port it w/o any success. Just boot loop and EFS partition lost.
How can you help me?
I have some basic Java and C knowledge but it's not as "high-level" as the one that Android Open Source development needs.
So, what now?
If you know a developer, if you are a developer you know you can help me (well, you can help ALL the LG G Flex community). No one took this device seriously from the beginning but I KNOW we can DO IT. I am always available for testing, helping and stuff but I, we really need YOUR help to do it!
On 2nd post you will find EVERY people available for testing.
If you have any idea, just write. The keyboard doesn't bite, me neither.
People available for testing
Since there are different LG G Flex variants, this post is divided in sections. Under every section there are the people available for testing on that model

I can test the959 and possibly help with getting it working. I've been wanting to tackle aosp and this would be a perfect phone to run it.

I think you missed what I meant. I mean a moderator (mod) I see tons of bickering, repeat threads, questions in the wrong section, etc. In the note 2 forum that stuff would be deleted instantly.
By the way development is slow because it's a new phone with a locked bootloader. I think there's like 3 or 4 people ready to drop a ROM when we get a recovery. I know I am

It's probably a kernel issue. Despite the similarities between the g2 and flex we will need a new kernel for AOSP based ROMs. Fortunately we do have a kernel dev (oh and PlayfulGod had made AOSP before) around so maybe when we get recovery it will see a lot if love

It just sucks....

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE this phone! And love and respect everyone who is working on getting the boot loader unlocked and etc. But it just flat out sucks LG is being so stubborn about it. I mean come on they release this kick ass, powerful ass, unique 1st of its kind phone, but keep the 1 thing on lock down that could sky rocket it to fame. Just imagine how much more popular and how much more money LG would get if this beast was free to play with!
I haven't lost hope can't wait for the miracle to happen, just sucks LG isn't helping.

And can we quit with the useless threads making? Like seriously there's been so many repeats or useless threads about the same topic and such I'm tired of coming on here hoping to find either good news or some kind of useful information about the device but instead its getting cluttered with threads like this one. You could have gone in a thread where the topic is about loki and express your feelings there about how sucks it is even though some of us probably wouldn't have cared but it could have saved you from creating this useless thread.
Sent from my LG-LS995 using Tapatalk
Having an unlocked bootloader would do nothing for the sales of this phone. The majority of people have no clue what a bootloader is, or have a need to flash anything. LG will make it's decisions based on those people not people on XDA. I do wish LG would jump on the Dev Edition bandwagon, at least give me the option to pay more to do whatever I want to my phone.
Being a flash whore I kind of like taking a break and getting things done. lol
I love flashing as well but i have root and i guess i can make it the way i want lol but still don't feel the same..
Sent from my LG-LS995 using Tapatalk
I still have yet to root this phone, lol! Sometimes just need to enjoy something for what it is and it does that quite well.
Sent from my LG-D959 using Tapatalk
My line about making more popular is on the basis is look at the people already wanting to switch because it's still locked. And I know it wouldn't be a tremendous difference. But you can't tell me with our community as big as it is that not being able to flash and etc isn't impacting domes wants to keep or get this phone. And if you find my thread useless don't read or comment.
For the exploit that's being tested, that's all models US etc? Last I heard or read was only the Korean had successful cwm and twrp running?
Sent from my LG-LS995 using xda app-developers app
Plus think of new people who have it already and wanna learn or etc. I wasn't a part of this stuff till I saw how much the EVO 4g LTE had and that made me wanna learn. If I had this phone seeing I couldn't really do nothing I would have never learned lol. And I've had androids since the 1st Verizon one lol
Sent from my LG-LS995 using xda app-developers app
There are parts of me that wishes I never started flashing in the first place, Very addicting! But it's too late for that now, I'm hooked forever. It's very good news to hear that somebody is possibly close to a solution. It's sad but I'm already seeking for somebody to trade me their note 3.

Waiting for access always sucks. The wait can be long.
Ultimately if you are not actively working to solve the problem. Waiting is your only recourse.

Can someone post a link to the actual KitKat from WALMART site where Da Kine got that KitKat at ? Looks good. I think I want that on my FLEX. Is it compatible with the d959? Can we keep root, or will it melt in your hand not in your mouth ?

About time the a moderator/moderators do something about all of the pointless KitKat threads, jeesh, I was beginning to think we didn't have any mods for our Flex.
Anyways, since my thread was closed (even though I posted in the correct section) i'll repost the pictures. Apparently, mattwheat says that you can get this version of kitkat at Walmart, so I guess if you want KitKat on your G Flex, go to walmart. I'm sure it's compatible with every varient of the G Flex. Post pictures of KitKat on your Flex if your lucky enough to get it lol. :highfive: :good:

I don't see the exact version that I have, but they should be the same and compatible with every variant of the G Flex. Root works for me, you literally just put it on your phone, it will melt in your hand if you hold it too long though, its one of those annoying bugs that haven't been removed yet. :highfive:

There's nothing to be sorry about, the KitKat threads were getting out of hand and really annoying. I just made mine for sh*ts and giggles, everyone can use a good laugh now and then. I know mods are busy and have lives of there own, but I was just surprised at how long it took for them to do something about the threads. I know that we can report threads, but I'm not going to sit here and do their job or make it any easier for them.
No hard feeling towards any members or mods, I was just trying to make others laugh and smile. Now let's focus back on getting this dang phone a custom recovery and Roms.

Alright,
I'm posting here in hopes that someone will be able to help me out with this.
I've done the back to stock thing with the LG software, and the serial number and blah blah. Now I'm interested in getting to Kitkat and and retaining root.
Now, in the thread that was locked (an already developed topic about a specific subject and never should have been locked.), people were posting the most incoherent series of events that lead to them retaining root.
Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730366
Here's an example of a grammatically butchered quote:
I rooted my flex. Then as i was rooting it, it was downloading. Kk. When my root rebooted, the update started. When i came atop, i had both. I used titanium this morning to remove the bloat ware. I got the flex around 5pm yesterday so i haven't had time to use a lot of root apps yet.

This makes no sense phonetically at all. If you're attempting to help people, please put it into a coherent sentence structure that we can follow.
Anyways, my question is this. For those of you who have successfully updated, what was the exact process? Leave out any details that don't matter (i.e, when you got your flex.)
Post step by step details.
So what it looks like is multiple people had the update downloading. Then before they went to reboot for the update, they rooted with ioroot. When ioroot rebooted the phone, it processed the upgrade and kept root. Is that correct?
Here are the exact steps i used to update and retain root. I restored to factory, rooted with ioroot, took the ota.

I was rooted and had the same thing happen. I had to flash back to stock unrooted and then I was able to do the update properly. Had to clear the google services framework though to get the update to show up.

Yeah but you should see the bloat in the Walmart version. But it does have the "Rollback" apk . And self checkout. But I believe its a requirement to wear sweat pants and a dirty Garfield sweatshirt while using it. (Or mullet).

Bump could help us get recovery?

Well i had got be the first to ask since i used stump project to root my att 950 flex on 442 was wondering if this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55966821 would be applicable to us with some minor tweaks? just keeping the hope alive

right thats why i just quietly thanked him
:fingers-crossed:
There is a working version of it on a g flex. Its being tested and from what I understand it works fine. I believe we are waiting for the devs of the bump exploit to check over it once more and put together a forum with all the necessary details.
And get all the necessary .img's we need "" Bumped". It will be soon.
Sweet! Thanks for the update Matt.
