Who am I?
Hello, my name is Lorenzo I am 16 y.o. and I am from Italy. I started falling in love w/ Android in 2010 with my first LG P500 (Optimus One). Now I own a phone store and I can have almost any phone for good price but I loved the LG G Flex since I saw it, at the presentation. I ordered it from China 5 days after. It arrived 3 weeks ago.
What do I want from you, the XDA Community?
I need to get in touch with some good Android developers to port the PURE GOOGLE custom rom is available for the LG G2 to the LG G Flex (since they are really similar devices). I tried downloading it, trying to port it w/o any success. Just boot loop and EFS partition lost.
How can you help me?
I have some basic Java and C knowledge but it's not as "high-level" as the one that Android Open Source development needs.
So, what now?
If you know a developer, if you are a developer you know you can help me (well, you can help ALL the LG G Flex community). No one took this device seriously from the beginning but I KNOW we can DO IT. I am always available for testing, helping and stuff but I, we really need YOUR help to do it!
On 2nd post you will find EVERY people available for testing.
If you have any idea, just write. The keyboard doesn't bite, me neither.
People available for testing
Since there are different LG G Flex variants, this post is divided in sections. Under every section there are the people available for testing on that model
LG G Flex D955 (European model):
LG G Flex D958 (Hong Kong & Asia model):
-Me! @cascio97
LG G Flex D959 (TMobile USA model):-@kintwofan-@Da Kine-@bbobarino-@mattwheatLG G Flex D950 (AT&T model):-@mja0318
LG G Flex LS995 (Sprint model):-@maxrusakoff
LG G Flex F340 (Korea model):
I can test the959 and possibly help with getting it working. I've been wanting to tackle aosp and this would be a perfect phone to run it.
On a side note this should probably get in general..... Do we even have a mod, I've seen a lot that would get shut down in other threads going in here?

I think you missed what I meant. I mean a moderator (mod) I see tons of bickering, repeat threads, questions in the wrong section, etc. In the note 2 forum that stuff would be deleted instantly.
By the way development is slow because it's a new phone with a locked bootloader. I think there's like 3 or 4 people ready to drop a ROM when we get a recovery. I know I am

We r days away from our bootloader being unlocked..... personally i came from the lg optimus g which had a few very good devs which gave me some of the most stable roms i have ever run. I also had the galaxy s2 which had unlimited roms to flash but most were unstable caused random reboots countless softbricks. So i like what is comeing to the flex! Just be patient i think u will also

It's probably a kernel issue. Despite the similarities between the g2 and flex we will need a new kernel for AOSP based ROMs. Fortunately we do have a kernel dev (oh and PlayfulGod had made AOSP before) around so maybe when we get recovery it will see a lot if love

Has LG made any comments about upgrading the flex past 4.2.2?
I know they have a bad reputation about upgrading the OS..
And things don't seem to positive for development like custom ROMs..hoping that'll change with the g flex U.S versions.

Well I ask because I'm using the new Moto G and Motorola promised a quick rollout of Android 4.4 before the phone was even released..

From all of the recent rumors I say in a couple more months and heard LG is skipping 4.3 to go straight to 4.4 which makes since. Im excited for it too but am patient. I think it will tripple its already awesome battery due to kitkat being less ram consumptious.
I have only had my phone for about a week. Love it. I know the phone is fairly new but this is the quietest forum I've ever seen. Are there devs behind the scene hacking away at this locked bootloader? I've picked up a lot of knowledge over the years by paying attention and help from the devs. I wish I could help but that kind of stuff is over my head.
yes
Aznrice2k4 is working on it, djrbliss and shellnut r definitely capable of this but I don't think they have the flex I no they r genius and did amazing things for lg but idk I think we r screwed Im banking on aznrice2k4 . I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I have never owned an LG before. Always Samsung, and it seems the Sammy's get a little more attention. They have a huge chunk of the market now. I just wanted to try something new this time. I really like the phone and I really hope they crack this thing. Cause like all of you I'm a flashoholic! Why else would we be here discussing this on XDA I am glad to hear there are some smart guys out there doing their thing though.

I'm not going to comment on all that dev drama crap. It sucked. I'm over it. Anyways KR is still kick ass for me and so I'm staying. I'm kitkat spolied. We can't get any AOKP or cynagenmod so this is the tip of it. The sad thing is that a talented dev screwed us and himself on the donation front. Damn I said I wouldn't go there......my bad.
Sent from my Note 3 "Ghostwerks style".....using your mom's hacked AT&T wifi.....dig it?
I plan on staying with KitKat even though my favorite rom is gone. Not sure what to think about the situation but I guess my phone will continue to run KR5.6 until I find something better. I think it is unlikely that Note 3 users will get anything better than what we saw with that particular dev even though it was a pretty shady situation.
Just my opinion...
Can somebody please send me a valid link to kr5.6? Maybe Dropbox or something just so I can experience it? I wasn't around to grab it b4 the drama or whatever was going on

With @graydiggy...X-note 12 runs fine. Speaking of which, wonder if there was really a "kernel" issue with X-note 13 or if the guy needed a donation to get it fixing.
Oh wells, like someone else said on this thread. Someone will figure out the porting process and take care of us AT&T users.
I'm still using KR for now until a better KitKat ROM is out. I wasn't experiencing any issues except a messaging fc when using the pen to show a preview. I was able to fix this by flashing another ROM and using titanium backup to backup messages and flash back to KR then do a restore in titanium. So I guess I'm staying for now.

There's nothing to be sorry about, the KitKat threads were getting out of hand and really annoying. I just made mine for sh*ts and giggles, everyone can use a good laugh now and then. I know mods are busy and have lives of there own, but I was just surprised at how long it took for them to do something about the threads. I know that we can report threads, but I'm not going to sit here and do their job or make it any easier for them.
No hard feeling towards any members or mods, I was just trying to make others laugh and smile. Now let's focus back on getting this dang phone a custom recovery and Roms.

Here's an example of a grammatically butchered quote:
I rooted my flex. Then as i was rooting it, it was downloading. Kk. When my root rebooted, the update started. When i came atop, i had both. I used titanium this morning to remove the bloat ware. I got the flex around 5pm yesterday so i haven't had time to use a lot of root apps yet.

This makes no sense phonetically at all. If you're attempting to help people, please put it into a coherent sentence structure that we can follow.
Anyways, my question is this. For those of you who have successfully updated, what was the exact process? Leave out any details that don't matter (i.e, when you got your flex.)
Post step by step details.
So what it looks like is multiple people had the update downloading. Then before they went to reboot for the update, they rooted with ioroot. When ioroot rebooted the phone, it processed the upgrade and kept root. Is that correct?
Here are the exact steps i used to update and retain root. I restored to factory, rooted with ioroot, took the ota.

Anyone have the 600+Mb file download, install, and still was 4.2.2 ls995vz3.
It's like the update didn't do anything, and now when I click to check it says I'm updated? :banghead:

I was rooted and had the same thing happen. I had to flash back to stock unrooted and then I was able to do the update properly. Had to clear the google services framework though to get the update to show up.
N still rooted?

About time the a moderator/moderators do something about all of the pointless KitKat threads, jeesh, I was beginning to think we didn't have any mods for our Flex.
Anyways, since my thread was closed (even though I posted in the correct section) i'll repost the pictures. Apparently, mattwheat says that you can get this version of kitkat at Walmart, so I guess if you want KitKat on your G Flex, go to walmart. I'm sure it's compatible with every varient of the G Flex. Post pictures of KitKat on your Flex if your lucky enough to get it lol. :highfive: :good:

Yeah but you should see the bloat in the Walmart version. But it does have the "Rollback" apk . And self checkout. But I believe its a requirement to wear sweat pants and a dirty Garfield sweatshirt while using it. (Or mullet).
