Ever since I converted my Sense HTC ONE to a Google Play Edition One, battery has been abysmal. I noticed that in the battery section, it's telling me that the Android System is using around 70-80% of the battery, Screen stays around 10-15%, And the rest of services (Play Music, Google Services, Phone, Gallery, etc) is usually around 1-5%.
I have the GPS *completely* off, screen is set on auto, Wi-Fi and bluetooth off, NFC is on, but I am positive that's not the issue.
My apps such as FB and Twitter are with auto notifications, same as my email. I know having auto updates and sync can cause battery drains, but I had them as well in Sense and the battery could go the whole day.
What could be causing the issue?
I have also been having this problem. Please help

Well I tried using better battery stats, and it the kernel seems to be draining 60% of my battery. Stock gpe kernel.

It seemed like it drained a lot faster when I disconnected from wifi
Most days it drains a lot faster than this. From 6:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. its usually on 20% or less.

A little under two hours and it's down to 61% with not much use. Wi-Fi was connected the whole time

that's because you are using 3G network which is causing "msm_hsic_host" wakelock
use WiFi more than 3G if possible
wakelocks prevents phone from sleep for battery saving
HERE is the better explanation for this wakelock

Helllo,
I have a rapid battery drainage problem and I tried various things to stop that:
Restored factory settings maybe tree times.
Installed Nova launcher
Installed Juice Defender (aggresive mode)
Rooted my phone and calibrated it.
Installed CPU tuner
But nothing really helped. Today after full charge (12h. because the phone is new) and two hours of use, I have 79% of battery left, do to writing some messages, that's all. I know it is not normal, so I thought maybe fresh OS should fix this problem but I don't know if it is possible to re-install Android on LG P880?
hey and welcome to XDA
first of all, of course it's possible to flash another firmware on our phones.
what firmware du you use? have you full wiped after rooting your phone? if not, please try this.
another (easier) way to "calibrate" you battery is to charge it to 100%, then discharge it completely until it turns itsself off and then recharge it to 100%, but keep the charger about 2h still plugged in. then try again.
If all that doesn't help, then you can think of flashing another firmware. first try the easier way
btw, i don't like apps like juice defender etc not very much...
Odp: [Q] Android OS re-install?
Heavy battery draining is V10H firmware problem, i recommend to flash V10G (it's in General section) or to flash CM10 or CustoNexus, each of them has longer battery life

Thanks.
I use 4.0.3 (10h) version. And no, I haven't done full wipe after rooting my phone.
I have tried that easier way to calibrate the battery couple of times but nothing has changed.
That's why I think about installing an older firmware (or even the same 10h).
P.S. when idle the battery looks stable but when the phone is used then the battery start dropping like crazy.

I checked with better battery stats whats happening, and it shows that google services and google search is waking my phone a lot,
so i disabled then.
the issue still persists and i don't know what to do
someone shed some light?
I have heard that this problem is uniform across all android 4.2.2 devices?
EDIT: SOLUTION. just turn off wifi and mobile data if you want to sleep your phone.

Even though this is on stock, This thread will help (maybe)
Try disabling the backup services, as they tend to run for like half an hour each time you power up your phone, or maybe it does that everyday.

I came across the same issue, where I was getting a quick battery drain. I went ahead and unticked auto sync and have wifi shut off via toggle and only turn it on when I need it. After checking the Android OS percentage, it went down by half and battery life now is insane, once in sleep mode, it preserves a lot of battery. I was at 100% at 8:15 am yesterday morning and today I am on 72%, granted I haven't used the phone that much but prior to the previously mentioned steps, I would probably be recharging as we speak!

Nah "CM".... Always beta
Xperia™ Z (C6602) with Tapatalk
[SOLVED] Solution!
SOLVED!
After maaaaaaaany weeks of googling, searching, WakeLock monitoring, more searching...
I finally fixed what's causing this!
The wakelocks are named:
NlpCollectorWakeLock
NlpWakeLock
Those were the main battery drainers (those freaking suckers!).
They aren't that important to run in the background at all, it's just a location service by Google Now (you know, just so the NSA has more data from you).
It does not affect the device performance or function in any way (as far as I know but I guess it prevents Google Now from searching your location while your phone is locked).
The simple fix for all this:
Simply download "Wakelock Terminator" from the Play Store and run it. You also need Xposed for the installed module to run tho which means you also need a rooted device.
(Downside of the free version: You can only prevent one service from running unlimited wakelocks, for more you'll need the paid version. But because you'll most likely fix only the draining problem you won't need more anyways!)
Then simply go an search for "Google Play Services", tick "Prevent Wake Lock" and add the above mentioned services to the list.
After one day of doing this my phone battery lasts far longer now, draining only about 1-2% an hour instead of 8-10% as it was before.
If this worked for you please hit the "Thanks!"-Button! This is not for my own pleasure, it's for everyone else having the same issue and want to find a legit, fast, easy solution
Also, that's what the button is here for
Even without sim card, the battery still drains, drained 10% every 5 hours. ( even wifi is off it still drains)
According to BetterBatterystats, the highest wakelock count in partial wakelock before is *backup*, (removed after disabling google backup)
The most wakelock right now is SuperStamina Xssm, it can be stopped after disabling Stamina mode, but even i did , this battery still drains.
any way to solve this? airplane mode also drains battery, basically nothing works from stopping battery drain.

How little do you expect the battery to drain? What are the current wakelocks right now? Are they still the same?
Can you use Wakelock Detector instead? The Xperia SP's battery might not be as great as you think....

Take your phone to a sony service center(or where ever you bought the phone) and let them have a look at it, might be that your battery is just not working properly. They will replace if it for you.

i personally think is software problem, i tried drain the battery down to 0%, then charge it full without break,

after 5 hours it became 94%, then it keep draining down as usual.

There are lots of settings but wakeloc detector will tell you real quick what's going on. After that we can go from there. Also you might update to Franco's test build r26, its a couple pages back in his thread. I think it fixed a few wake issues.

franco himself said that build would not effect wakelocks in anyway. It just modified the idle loop in the cpu scheduler to allow the cpu to idle easier.

I thought I had seen the opposite posted in his thread. Could be wrong though.
just copy and pasted his post. At least thats what I got from this post.
"If you wanna test a new feature of r26 which is a patch from upstream that instantly idles (idle is not offline, it's a shallow power state when there no jobs running on the core to preserve energy) if a core is running with <= 1 job instead of going through a idle_balance() loop which goes on to decide if the core should or shouldn't enter idle, and it's not cheap. With this patch it also reduces the overall load_average since it reduces idle_balance() calls by 75%. In theory it should improve battery life. boot.img attached
I don't have numbers, but I sent the patch to imoseyon and he's already testing it. With your help we'll get some pretty numbers soon. This is completely agnostic of wakelocks, so if you have them, you're on your own, like you always are."
This is what you want see in wakeloc detector. As close to 0% as you can get. Just find out what's running/waking up and start working on stopping those.
Wakelock Detector is great but I honestly like Better Battery Stats better myself. Look for the XDA version on here, it's free

GSam Battery Monitor is also very good and detailed regarding Wakelocks

I know a ton of people love gsam, but whenever I've tried using it, it just gave me that bloated app feeling. If it works for you that's all that matters.
I use gsam also just to check how things are running. Greenify once wakeloc detector tells me what's going on.
I downloaded an app called battery doctor and that has helped a lot. Going on 31 hours with moderate use
But google play services is one of the things draining the most of my battery.
I too feel like I'm struggling to get passed 1 day with really hardly any use. My phone sits on my desk most of the day and I peek at it if it goes off. Most of the time when I do get a notification, I check my gmail on the PC, as well my messages via Verizon Messages (though I still use Hangouts on the phone). It never fails by the time I get home, I'm usually around 40% battery and I feel like I've hardly touched the device all day.
I've download WLD which I've used on previous devices so hopefully I can post back after today and see what's draining my battery.
I have a stock Nexus 6 on t-mobile with a side loaded t-mobile ota and connected to a 2015 Moto 360. However lately it seems like doze isn't working. It shows that my phone isn't awake during the time I'm sleeping, but my battery still drops pretty significantly overnight. When I wake up it shows that android OS is at the top of the list and I don't remember it ever being at the top of the list before, it used to be just Cell standby and screen.
Anyone have this issue or know if there is a fix?
I have some pictures of my stats when I woke up.
Edit: Just added some current GSam stats as well. It shows google app as the top using app. I wonder if that could be going rouge?
i wouldnt really say that doze isnt working, id guess that you have an app that is keeping the cpu busy all the time, instead of going to sleep
what app or how would I check for that on stock? I have looked myself, but I haven't added any new apps since the original update and it also doesn't show any apps in the battery stats that are keeping it awake. I also find it weird that the battery stats don't even show my device as "awake" even when it is draining battery.

will you take a screenshot of your battery stats main page, with all the apps and their battery use then post it?

nevermind, i missed it in your first post. your android os is kinda high, but your device was sleeping.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. No apps show up on my battery stats page as using excessive battery life or keeping the device awake overnight, but I still have drain... I don't understand why or what it could be. It's been happening the last few days or more I believe and wasn't happening before.

can be just google updating something on your phone. if so, just give a a day or two. if it is a stuck process, a reboot usually would fix that. i cant really think what else would cause that

It sucks I've rebooted it a few times and even before going to sleep last night after charging and still nothing... I included some Gsam stats in my original post. It seems google app shows highest in app usage but idk if it could be the culprit for some reason? I recently turned off voice detection yesterday because I thought that might be it, but idk..
I would recommend trying to uninstall/disconnect Android Wear app and the Moto 360 for 24 hours and see if you notice a difference. Whenever I had my Moto 360 connected, the battery life with my phone was never as good. Not sure if this is do-able for you at all, but something maybe worth trying to see what happens.

I would but they don't even ding the radar of battery life or keeping my phone awake and having them installed was never was a problem before.
I know they will hit my battery life a little bit and always has, but this overnight drain was never a problem after first side-loading the OTA, it just came up recently. Also I've used android wear and had a moto 360 connected to my phone since gen 1 came out without an excessive drain issue.
