Hi - I'm currently on 7.5 and I've unlocked using Chevronwp7 and have 'internet sharing' working. I want to upgrade to 7.8 but I do not want to loose my unlock and 'internet sharing'. I believe if I use the Samsung 7.8 I will screw myself - so if I do the following I'll get the Microsoft 7.8 and all should work? Is my understanding correct? Here is where I planned on getting 7.8:

there is only the MS 7.8, Samsung have a firmware that will firstly clear all your ICS settings, and secondly disable the ability to install the dev unlock. however, ICS can be enabled, and so long as your unlocked BEFORE applying the Samsung firmware you can remain unlocked. you can also search the WP7 forum for a newer solution that should help you no matter what you do
easy way to 7.8
Thanks - today I used the process outlined here to get to 7.8:
http://www.windowsphonehacker.com/articles/want_windows_phone_7.8_now_try_this_easy_tool-01-31-13
This tool saved me a lot of time as I was way back on 8107. My unlock and working ICS were still fine and I was on 7.8
Also, on my wife's focus s.. I unlocked it today using the process listed here (and then turned on ICS):

Were you able to get internet sharing to work afterwards? I can't seen to get it to work.

root tools or winTT will work, you just need to get them installed and functional

I have WP7 Root Tools installed - Tried that tweak to enable internet sharing
I just installed winTT and tried that enable internet sharing tweak and got the same message
Connection not Shared
There's no cellular data connection to
share right now. Check your cellular
settings and signal, and try again.

Just got a brand new Focus S in the mail today.
Plugged it into the computer. Let it do the updates. Went through the process of the 2nd generation Interop Unlock successfully. Used the tweak in WP7 Root Tools to enable internet sharing and got the same message.

Hi.
I am using my GT-I9305 for testing of mobile base stations (need to be able to lock mobile to the 1800 MHz LTE). When i was using stock android ver 4.1.2 - it was possible to open service mode from dialer (*#197328640#)
After adnroid update to ver 4.3 it is not longer possible.
I am trying to find solution to have back Service Mode on my mobile.
Maybe somebody can help me to find solution.
1. I rooted my phone and in /system/apps there is app called serviceModeApp.apk
i cannot find here ServiceModeApp_RIL.apk
there is also no HiddenMenu.apk here
2. In /efs/carrier there is file called HiddenMenu and when i edit this file it contains word OFF
I have changed OFF to ON in /efs/carrier in file HiddenMenu
I copied into /system/apps ServiceModeApp_RIL.apk, HiddenMenu.apk and i overwrited serviceModeApp.apk (i get version from android 4.1.2)
And nothing works for me.
I will apreciate any help.
I was wondering - if it is possible to add Service Mode into custom rom, maybe it will be possible to ADD it to the stock rom (copying some files, changing some files...) XDA is place with most experienced android experts - maybe somebody will find a minute to help me ? Please!
I am having the same issue here... not able to use service mode on the new 4.3 firmware either Anyone able to offer some help preety please?
Thank you kindly
Maybe somebody is interested to fix this problem and get paid for it?
I think - Maybe I can come with some paypal donation if somebody will manage to fix this problem.
somebody interested?

You can try Apex launcher. After installing, go to it and long press somewhere in home screen, then select shortcuts > Activities
Then you can play a bit here, scroll down to service mode and test if any activity in this menu actually opens the service mode. If you succeed let us know

Yes, but this ROM, the option doesn't exist
I have a galaxy s3 mini. I have faced an issue which is not common. My Play Store gives me "No connection - Retry" error. I searched every forum, every possible solution on the internet, I tried them all but no luck.
I have even rooted it, installed CWM, changed the ROM, but still no luck.
I edited the hosts file as mentioned on different forums, but the thing is my hosts file "only shows this by default '127.0.0.1 localhost'", there is no second line of ip address or anything. I tried adding it manually and added the "#" sign but no luck.
If any one out there could help me, I'd be really grateful.

No I don't have freedom installed. I have installed the stock ROM again. But the phone is still rooted. So if there is a solution, I would be glad to hear it. My phone is useless without Play Store. I cannot update any application or anything.
Install Lucky Patcher. Go to --> Toolbox --> Install the Modded Google Play Store. Choose your version of original play store.

Hello All,
I have Gt-N7000 note mobile. I am running JB germany official rom. Suddenly my phone has restore it default imei "0049999010640000" so i can register on any network. Also, the power button problem appeared to me. When i press it for a long press the menu of restart does not pop up instead the phone just power off and if i pressed for a short one, the phone will just turn off the screen so if press it again or the home button, the phone would just open and bypass the lock screen.
Thanks for ur help guys

Try to explain this again.
Can you register on a network?
Or can't?
This IMEI is not a "restored" one. You simply lost your original one. If you did not make and do not have a backup of your /efs then it's lost.
So: was your device rooted? What did you do before "suddenly"?
i really mean suddenly. The phone was OK then it lost its imei. I can not register to my network anymore. the mobile internet is working fine but i can not make any voice calls. The phone was not rooted then but i root it now.
For the EFS folder, i do not have a backup

Workaround 1: disable SIM pin number. After that the network should work
Workaround 2: use an older version of android.policy.jar (from an unofficial developer release from Samsung). In this versions the check for a corrct IMEI seems to be disabled.
I have this problem myself and was lucky to get an upgrade with the so called developer imei. Since then I use the android.policy.jar from this upgrade.
But please try W1 first. If you'll get the network then it is solvable with W2.
If W1 doesn't work then even W2 will fail.

Of course you should try it.
First root your device. Go to Philz kernel thread and download the kernel for your JB version (XXLT4?).
Tomorrow I will connect to my PC in Germany and download the old version from there (right now I'm in Thailand).
Will attach it here.
With a rooted device and a file explorer with root options you can copy it to your device.

Yes, same reason. When I use the other jar this problem disappears too.
I just copied the file from my N7000 and attached it here.
Copy it to /system/framework. Change permissions to rw-r-r.
For this you need a rooted device and something like Total Commander with /system mounted as writeable. And before you do this make a backup of you android.policy.jar.
If you do not understand these things right now: start searching and reading here about root explorer, mounting /system, permissions. There are enough examples and descriptions.
But first: root
