Hi there.
I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy Note since I wanted to make it rootable.
When I bought it, I could use any simcard inside, so it is "unlocked".
Yesterday, I wanted to use my phone to root it but some files can't be downloaded via WWW.MULTIUPLOAD.COM (i guess it is because of what happened to MEGAUPLOAD).
So, one of my first questions is : is USB DEBUGGING activated when using the Galaxy note for the first time or not at all? (I didn't activate it when using my Galaxy Note before flashing it)
Second, I have used Odin to flash a file (PDA slot), the file was hard to find but google could help (i'm just meaning that some links here seem to be "broken" on multiupload). The flash was fine and the phone boot back... to a yellow triangle.
No way to change it.
No backup from the rom, but I remember it is a KKA.
I 've looked in that thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350960) to find everything that could help me, but the file is no more on multiupload
I tried via that thread, too :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370156 , but the problem remains
Third, I don't have any jug usb to use and no CMW installed nor loaded.
Could a kernel help to solve the problem about the yellow triangle, using ODIN, or not? Or is it better to use a fully functionnal rom, as a KKA?
Any help/comment would be much appreciated
N.B : sorry for my english that can be "poor" sometimes :s
Can you exactly give the file name, which you have used to flash PDA section? and size of it

1. It doesn't matter while flashing using PC Odin.
2. Are you sure about which ROM you flashed ( Suspecting you have flashed Custom ROM)
3. Their is way to remove Triangle (!) , you should use JIG
follow the link for more details.

Thanks for your quick replies
So, I wanted to flash that, using ODIN:
Recovery ClockworkMod Odin flashable.Tar
But on XDA, the link about it is in fact Superuser-3.0.6-efgh-signed.zip.
Did I miss something??
The file I could find using google was about 8Mo and the flash was quite fast.
(I used it for the PDA part)
I also referred to that thread :

When No Any other method works to Root your device, use this
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note that, this will downgrade your ROM to KJ1, after that you can update it.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/YB9EL8D8O3
- Make sure your SGN is NOT connected to your computer
- Reboot your SGN into "download mode" (Vol down + Home + Power))
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select the "SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.tar" file
- Connect the SGN to your computer
- Make sure "repartition" is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot TWICE
- Done.
Now you have your device Rooted, Install Mobile Odin Pro n update your device to any new ROM with Mobile Odin

using the file for KKA, but then, next flashing, the yellow triangle...
I'm working right now but I can repost here in a few hours the exact name of the file I have found using google that I could not find over here.
Anyway, do you think I can "repair" it without any JIG USB?
And yes, it was on a custom rom (the phone is just new, only a few hours in my hands ) but it's not my first one (i could flash a HD2 and the Samsung Tablet with no problems...

This thing you did wrong, I have made lot effort to update Rooting guide here, still somebody How can find this guide i dont know.
Basically you have flashed with Netchip method, which was very first appeared, but later netchip also said, to not to use, b'coz it causing raise Flash counter
as well yellow triangle.
Now onwards remember, NEVER use PC ODIN to Flash Any Custome ROM/Kernel.
I am updating link here soon, how to reset your counter. You requires JIG for that
Edit : here is guide how to reset binaru count, n remove yellow triangle
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354888
-------------------
BTW till you get JIG, just go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 and download and flash ROM using PC odin(here it is stock ROM u can use it safely). you will get your phone working. later you can reset counter with JIG
Download my guide from here, how to update ROM, you can use Updating ROM with PC Odin section from guide.
Many thanks again, dr.ketan for such reply so fast
Hmmmm then I will have to wait for a JIG. I will order a JIG, it seems the price is not so expensive.
Thanks again for your comments and help, much appreciated

My 2 cents about that question, but if I have a message saying that there is an error while turning on the phone now :
Firmware upgrade encoutered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
The problem is, when using Kies (for Windows), it is looking for the Galaxy Note, and, even if it is connected via USB, nothing happens, it's looking long, long, long, time, then, it says that it can not find it.
So, is a JIG still required?

See, JIG is required for totally different reason.
Your issue regarding, not connecting kies / Booting phone, won't be solved by JIG.
Jig can b use in two condition. One when you are unable to enter in download mode. I think, you dont have this issue
another To reset counter, for which you require JIG in your case.
Error you are facing right now during booting of device, can be solved by Reflashing ROM. You can flash any stock ROM with PC Odin, shud be enough to solve it.
Now regarding use of JIG, just enter in download mode, check Lt upper corner of devoce, it will have number of flash you have performed, i think in your case it must be 1 or more. which in normal case should be zero. Only To reset that counter, you needs Jig.
Thanks again.
Well, I download another stock rom but I got a "fail" (red color) above "id:com", when flashing on ODIN.
I am using Windows7 and tested the compatibility mode, the problem remains.
I have .md5 file that I put on PDA part. Then I click on Start but nothing, except the "fail" message.
When turning off the phone and on, I got the other message, said in my previous post :
"Firmware upgrade encoutered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
So, Am I missing something.
About the download mode, the number is 7 in fact.
Oh I remember the file I wanted to flash via ODIN : netchip-cwm-update2.tar
It seemed to work just because the phone turned off and I got a "green" message that said that it was ok. (PASS).
I read one of your thread, when nothing works, so that man should go here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18981227&postcount=4
but the file (link) is not working now, so I can not get the file to test :s
But since then, I can not boot on Android anymore...
Yes unfortunately link is down since 2 days
Ya thats i guessed when i read you have used superuser zip, i have said earlier in 1 msg, you have used netchip.
Anyway, once go to recovery (vol up +home+power)n wipe data, clear cache, clear dwlvic caxhe.
Then put phone in download mode. Close firewall/antivirus on pc, open odin, connect device with download mode(vol down+home+power), if id com glow yellow, thn proceed with start
Gudluck

The main problem is that, too.
I can not enter Recovery, I got the yellow triangle.
I can only go in download mode, and when turning off and on the phone, the message said above :s
is JIG the only way to solve all that?
is my phone "blocked"? I am trying to test another stock rom, I'll give it a try and let you guess what happens.
EDIT 22:37:
The flash with that rom (N7000XXLA4_N7000DREKL1_DRE) has failed, even if it is a stock one.
Can I try to use any other rom from another country? Before I tried to flash the rom, I saw it was a KKA. Can I try so with a LA3 or something else, still stock one?
Oh man, that's so bad....
I think I found the problem...
I am using Windows7 64 bits.
My wife is on WindowsXP and I am using Odin on her netbook, and it's quite better !
the flashing is going on.
Hey !!!! that's all good !!!!! ^^'
My Galaxy Notes is working again ^'^'
Maybe should it be mentionned to be careful when using Windows7 64 bits, if some other members would have the same problem when flashing their roms?
Congrates !
ya it is common problem(win7), many time it has been discussed , but it is not that everytime it not works, but it happens in few cases.
When reading your answer yesterday, I thought I might had a chance to make my Galaxy Note working again without JIG.
Now I've downloaded Samsung drivers, for Windows7 64 bits, and I can flash with no problem. I'm backing up and can use CWM
Thanks again for your help and answers
I had the same problem, but then I decided to use the ORIGINAL usb cable and see: it did the trick !!!. Even on Windows 10 64bit !.
Hey guys, they gave me a Sprint Galaxy Tab 7". When it boots up it goes directly to Android system Recovery. and it shows there a ton of red letters.
I have tried flashing with odin a whole bunch of firmwares. All say Success and pass. But when it restarts it goes back where i started. Sometimes when it boost it goes to the samsung logo. then the sprint 4g then back to samsung logo and stays there.
I saw a old thread that a guy had the same problem with his boss's tab. but i dont know if and how he resolved it.
Any help would be appreciated.

where can i get the kernel and do i flash with odin?
Ok i tried flashing everything available still no go. I think it ha to do something with the EXT file system.
Maybe the file system is formatted to EXT and all the firmwares are RFS or something.
not sure how to get by this.
if that is the case, then flash any stock firmware that has .pit file with ODIN and choose to "repartiton" will get you back to RFS.
I guess that wasn't the the case. just tried 3 different firmwares with the pit files. still boots to the Android recovery then after i restarts it boots normal. then sprint 4g then restarts to samsung glowing logo. and just loops there.
missed the part about the 4G.
Have you been flashing correct rom?
In this forum people are all posting onfor for SPH-P100 and SCH-I800
What exactly is your device model?
I have the Sprint Galaxy Tab 7" - It says SPH-P100
Ok, since I don't have CDMA device, can't help you much.
But I wonder, has it always have the Sprint 4G logo from the beginning?
Or others who has the device can chime in?
If it has always been there, that means I am just clueless about sprint device.
If it only appear after your failed flash, could be that it now has a bootloader of another device.
Can you boot into download mode?
---------- Post added at 11:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:47 AM ----------
if so, download the right firmware and flash via odin. it worked for me, though mine was a gsm tab. you can get them from www.samfirmware.com and download a correct pit file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275031&highlight=stock+ef17
Try this one.
Ive Tried that one about 1 dozen times.
Yes it has always had the 4G logo.
Yes i can go into download mode.
To me it seems like the internal storage is corrupt or something.
This seems like i can't fix it. If anyone thinks they can fix it ill ship it to them.
You need to flash stock rom via odin aswell as a pit file and tick re-partition.
before writing, I'm so sorry for my pooooor English.
I live in Toronto, Canada. I bought my Galaxy Note(SHV-E160L) from Korea, so change sim card from LG U+ to Rogers.
but when I sleep, Note encounter Unlimited Reboot.
so I try to repair in 3-way.
first, Factory reset. but I could make Download mode only, couldn't make Recovery mode.
so I try Samsung Kies Recovery mode, but Kies show me binery Error.
last, I want to use ODIN, but ODIN show me Error Message, too.
"Complete(write) operation failed"
What this means?
If it can't be repaired, I must send my cell phone to Korea.
I'm very embrassed...
please help me!!
and Merry Christmas for you
Is it sticking on factoryfs.img in ODIN ? this usually means its bricked which kernel where you on when you did the factory reset ?
I had a similar issue last week, stuck in odin, everything failing, I was convinced it was bricked, I manage to repair it by (no joking here) flashing a million wrong things in ODIN.... But DO NOT TRY THIS lol
try to flash a safe kernel through ODIN, and then see if it bring back recovery, then you can wipe and flash a new rom (hopefully)
otherwise there is the pit file method to revive from a brick, which works well, but loses around 3gb of internal sd space

try this method:
download a stock gingerbread rom then go into download recovery, flash it with odin, root your phone.
from here you can install any custom rom, this is how i do when i got bootloop.

Perhaps should follow closely the guide for using odin from Dr ketan should help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
1. Installation
- Download stock ROM (should start with a GB rom), and extract it to .tar file
- Download Odin, open it
- select PDA tab and point to ROM file. Leave Re-partition, pit, CSC, Phone tab unticked.
- Switch off device, Put in download mode (Vol down + Home + Power)
- completely close kies, Anti virus if running
- Connect device to PC
- ID com port shud turn yellow (not shown in image)
Now hit Start

see how it goes.
Same problem as OP
Hello guys,
unfortunately, I have the same problem with my 32GB SHV-E160L as OP. Little backstory:
I bought the GNote in Korea and brought it back to my country. I successfully rooted it with one of the guides here on XDA (Tegrak kernel, no OC whatsoever). No problems so far, the phone worked for weeks and I was able to do what you can do with rooted phones. One day while surfing the net it just crashed and was stuck in a boot loop. This is where I am now.
I tried:
Go into tegrak recovery. result: It gets stuck on samsung logo, funnily the phone would establish a usb connection if plugged in (as if in download mode)
Reset from Kies. result: After beeing told by Kies to go into download mode, instead of flashing the new software it gives an error message in Korean about missing binaries (see attachment)
Flash from odin. result: the dreaded red box with "fail" appears after the NAND write command
Now, after doing my research here on XDA I found out that my emmc might have damaged partitions and I need a PIT file. Here's where I'm stuck.... I can't find a PIT file for my 32GB note, only for the N7000 or the I717. And I don't want to mess things further up... so if anyone here could provide me with a PIT file, or tell me how to fix the phone through other means I would be really grateful
Thanks in advance....
You should ask hg42 if he can make one - in his thread I read that he did this before even for other devices.
So try a pm or post in his thread. Good luck
Hi
Firstly, I'm sorry about my incorrect english.
I have a big problem with my rooted Galaxy Note Stock ICS 4.0.4.
After a phone restore (done in the Options menu) I encountered a boot problem.
When I turn the phone on, I see the white Galaxy Note GT-7000 writing and then
the Samsung Galaxy boot logo which continues flashing all the time but the
OS isn't booting. There isn't a boot loop which restarts the phone, only the blinking
Samsung animation.
I do really not know much about Android, rooting, flashing etc so I don't know what
is the problem and what I can do to fix it.
Recently I did a data/factory reset and cache partition wipe in the recovery mode,
hoping that this could help, but that didn't change anything.
After that I flashed another stock rom (ICS 4.0.4 Switzerland (Swisscom)) with
Odin in download mode, but there's still the endless boot problem.
I read about brick and that its not recommended to wipe anyting.
What could be my problem and how could I resolve it?
I'm sorry if theres just another thread which speaks about the same problem, but I
didn't find anyone with the identical situation as mine.
I'm very grateful for any answers.
hmm.. it could be because of data partition corruption..
download this http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ukk00n20dahxxkp
place it on external SD.. boot into recovery and choose apply update from ext storage
once done. boot into recovery again.. now ... in the new CWM. do
factory reset., wipe cache partition
advanced menu> wipe dalvik cache
reboot
Hi,
thank you for your answer. But perhaps as I turned the phone on the first time
since yesterday (i didn't do anything since), I'm not anymore able to go into recovery mode
and the boot process ends just at the white Galaxy Note writing (without bootloop, there's
only the static text)
Only the download mode works fine, but obviously I cant install your file from there...
If you can get into download mode, better flash a stock ics rom first. After the flash is successful you can try to do the procedure as in my previous post.
I tried to flash different roms (also stock ones) but the download of the "factoryfs.img" doesn't finish.
The only thing I could do is to interrupt the downloading and restart from the beginning.
I read that this problem happens sometimes and that it could be resolved rebooting the phone and
the pc, but I didn't got it working
Do you know why it doesn't work? The first time I flashed successfully, but that was the first and the last time.
I don't even get an error or a fail notification...

If Odin stops at "factoryfs.img" you bricked your device.
(I wrote this and the following lines a few times now in the last days, but the different OP are consequently ignoring the message and try other intelligent approaches, in the end they will not succeed, because their Note is still bricked).
Solution: Samsung replaces your motherboard (that is the only real repair).
Workaround: eMMC scanner and repartition trick in hg42's threads.
Nothing else will help if your device is bricked.

You said something about loosing 3 GB repartitioning the memory. Its possible to revive the phone by this way?
Does anyone know approximately how much it will cost me to replace the motherboard of the Note?
download this PIT file http://d-h.st/FVh
now put the phone in download mode again, open odin and select the PIT file in the PIT tab. also make sure repartition is checked.
select the rom in PDA (if more that one file for rom, choose appropriate options)
connect the phone .. when the port is shows in odin flash again,,, check if this also stops at the same factoryfs

if you have warranty thats the first one to do. if not then there is a way by repartitioning the memory to skip the bad blocks, not a guaranteed method but works most of the time. cost of motherboard is high about 350-400$
One final try. If you are able to go recovery mode, pressing volume up, home, power buttons, flash abyss kernel 4.2, do all wipes and formats and flash a custom rom such as kingdroid.

Damn, 350-400$ only for the motherboard is a lot, considering that I bought this almost new phone for around 340$...
Isn't there any other way to get rid of the "brick"? I would accept any loss of memory just to get the phone working...
By the way is it a soft- or a hardbrick?

Hi to everyone who's reading this.
I have got stuck with an Note GT-N7000 from a friend. It was running the original Samsung firmware and never flashed before. Now the device is stuck at the bootscreen.
If I press the Home+VolUp+Power, it just flashes the bootscreen (see IMG_20131006_212031.jpg) then the screen is black again and shortly after that the boot screen shows again. For comparison if I just press power then this short flash doesn't happen. But the same bootscreen is shown.
I have tried to flash PhilZ-cwm6 recovery, but Odin3 stops at "NAND Write Start" no error line or anything (see Odin3.jpg). After an reboot there was that yellow triangle indicating a modification of the firmware. But no change to the problem.
To provide as much info as possible I also attached a photo of the label below the battery (see IMG_20131006_211932.jpg).
The device is older than 2 years now, so there is now warranty.
The behavior is somehow similar to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466339
I'm a little bit afraind i could brick it even while trying to repartition the phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886
Another thread discribing pit, but i'm not stuck at factoryfs. May this apply to me too?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok, I tried the same procedure on my notebook using the cable from my Wonder with the same result. As I'm using the drivers that came with Windows Update, I have no kies installed anyways. I Tried to install the drivers from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997. But I think my system isn't using them.
Could that Microsoft provided drivers be the problem?
As the battery only has 3.1 volts with no change over several hours of charging and the phone doesn't enter the download mode anymore with a battery low error. I'll first try to replace it with a new one. Maybe that's that cause after all. I just hope the charging circuits aren't broken.

Don't think the ms drivers work at all for proper connection.

Ok, i got the new battery and I've got the windows drivers working. But still with the same result. Any other ideas?
Should i try a different Flash file?
I allready downloaded the an original firmware but i'm afraid to do even more damage, if I don't wipe data and cache. So I wanted to flash the recovery first.
Are there any other steps that i have to do first? Maybe i'm missing something.
Have you installed kies? If not, install that first. It will install all three required drivers. Then go to task manager and kill all process that relates to kies. Then reboot the phone into download mode and flash again. You can also try the firmware you downloaded using original Pit file with repartition.

I had no keys installed, but I did now. Unfortunately I think the drivers in mentioned before seam to be the same.
Meanwhile I also tried to flash the original firmware and a Gingerbread Firmware form that brick safe install thread. In comparison to the CWM there is no progress on the green bar, just 2 pixel. I thought that I might have not waited long enough, but for that CWM flash the bar was completed for at least 10 minutes.
As I Installed Kies now I saw that option that allows a firmware update through kies. But it doesn't seam to initialize the update, quite similar to the behavior Odin shows.
I don't' like messing around without a way to identify that I have the right set of drivers installed. I tried to find some information about the drivers through the forum search and Google, but so far with no result.
I attached the drivers I use. If you (or someone else) did this before and got a working configuration, would you be so kind and make some screenshots of the drivers you use?
The same game with the the USB-Cable, has someone a correct wiremap, that I could check? (obviously not easy for the mini-USB connector)
By PIT-File you mean the "Pit file for 16GB model" from this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 or just the checkbox Re-Partition? That's really the last thing I want to try now, because I know to less about internal structure of the device. If Re-Partition fails and the downloader (Power+VolDown+Home) is on that partition I might kill the last point I can modify this Note ATM.
Just something more i want to add: Odin doesn't show that blue progress bar. I never used Odin before, but i searched for the process on YouTube and i just guess that Odon mode on the Galaxy Note it should show that bar too.
Meanwhile I also tried to flash a Krenel zImage with heimdall (The Kernel zImage is linked from the recovery CM tells to use in the installation process with heimdall). As Heimdall brings it's own drivers and behaves similar, I would guess, that the drivers at not the problem anyways.
How did you flash the gb rom? You need to try a rom flash using odin. Yes I mean the 16 gb pit if you have the 16 gb note.
Do you have access to Cwm recovery?
---------- Post added at 02:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:52 AM ----------
Odin 3+ has a blue progress bar and old odin has green. When flashing firmware the download mode on phone also shows a green progress bar which is the indication of write.
When you connect the phone in download mode does your phone screen say "downloading"?

To flash GB I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763151 to step 10.
The Phone was stock before it broke. I just hope i didn't confuse you. I tried several aproaches now.
All the roms i tried so far have been single file roms.
The 1st thing i did was trying to flash PhilZ-cwm6 recovery.
Then I replaced the battery, because odin download mode stated the battery is beeing low.
I repated the process with different versions of the drivers provided in this forum and by kies.
After that i tried different Firmware versions.
And finally i tried heimdall because it seams to be a good alternative to Odin.
Yes I am a bit confused. May be not because of your steps but too much to read..
Is recovery mode accessible? As your last post say Cwm recovery flash.
When the phone is in download mode, what's displayed on the screen?

OK i'll try it short
Recovery never was accessible. Download mode ist shown by the screenshot in the 1st post. Only the counter went up to 9.
There is no download mode screenshot in the first post. Could you post again.

I'm verry sorry, that was my fault. I added it to the 1st post. It's getting late for me.
Yeah. Just saw it. All looks fine. I cannot find a reason why odin is not flashing even the kernel. If bricked, it's usually in the system partition, then also kernel should be flashed successfully.
Tried changing the use cable?

Yeah, tried 2 cabels and 2 PCs so far...
I will report the result's here when I tried the repartitioning. So have a good day/night and thanks for your time.
I'm sorry if this was already covered. If you flash JUST philz with Odin, can you get into recovery?

Just throwing ideas out and sorry if you're already doing it...
I always run Odin as administrator.
I would personally start from scratch regarding drivers, delete kies and Samsung drivers, then go into device manager and check there aren't any remaining ms drivers. Reboot and reinstall kies, then shut down kies processes.
I always put the Odin folder on root of c.
The symptoms point to driver issues I think, that's where you usually see this kind of behaviour.

OK, I SuperBricked (no ODIN) it now. For others with the same symptomes, don't use Re-Partition. As I won't try it with JTAG maybe the device goes to eBay. Thanks to everyone and don't worry, it would have been broken anyways.
Maybe if someone is in the same situatuon: Try harder on different cable/drivers/os before using a Pit file.
