I have a US 32GB M7 Unlocked. Sending it in for repair.
I applied the BrightstarUS RUU to get everything to stock. Should be proper, as I downloaded and installed the OTA.
I noticed in the About>Tell HTC it shows as my phone is a Test Device. Is this normal for the unlocked version? (Unlocked, not the Developer) Will it go away when I re-lock/S-on it the phone?

It's because of S-Off, but be careful when going from S-Off to S-On; if you're on hboot 1.55 then there is a high probability, that after a few reboots, "tamper detected - rebooting" is triggered, and then you have TAMPERED back in bootloader.
Recommend you stay s-off.

Thanks,
Though I thought I can't get it repaired if it says s-off?
Anyone have experience with this?

Really depends on your country & carrier/repair center, most don't care about S-Off, as long as you're on stock rom and no TAMPERED and LOCKED (not relocked)
If you are worried and do intend on going S-On, then follow my guide (in my signature), on how to downgrade everything, removing TAMPERED and setting LOCKED, and S-On.

It's HTC's US repair center in Texas. I sent it in for warranty repair of the camera, when I got it back my battery drains like hell. I thought it was software, but after doing different RUUs and testing I've concluded that they messed up and they should repair it.
Thanks I'll follow it.
EDIT: PS, they thought 10-12 hours was okay for overnight idle battery life. OMFG

So my One is having issues charging, something is up with the USB port. Called TMO and they sent me a replacement phone and a return label. I'm rooted and my bootloader was unlocked (voiding my warranty apparently). So I went to re-lock the bootloader and it was successful HOWEVER now it states in the bootloader that it's been re-locked and tampered. Any way to make it seem as if it was never unlocked? Am I going to have to worry about them not accepting my device? Am I totally screwed here?

Thanks for the response, I'm on TMO in the US. I haven't gone the S-Off route yet either so I'm not sure this applies to me...and my CID doesn't match the thread. Appreciate the input though...
You need the official file form a HTC Care point over there i the states.
Follow the guid to get Never locked and the state tamperd away.
Do the soff .follow the guide remove tampered and to relock bootloader without it saying relocked it would say locked. Then return to s on. But please follow the guide to the letter.

Ok I'll give it a shot but I don't have S-Off right now, S is still ON so not sure if that is a problem.
i think you need to do soff first to be able to do the rest . but please read and read and read before prociding to soff , see all the requirement and so on
its easy .... little comon sense
Get S-off with revone relock bootloader remove tampered act like nothing has ever happened (shhhhhh dont tell HTC) :good:
Just need a bit of advice here. Was just wondering if I sent my phone to repair (HTC UK Service Center) under warranty, for the camera issue.
Would it affect my warranty claim if I just locked the bootloader and left it s-off?
The reason I ask is because I really don't want to lose the ability to s-off again when the device is returned repaired with the 1.54 hboot.
Please advise
Has anyone tried getting a repair done in this way yet?
Thanks in advance.

should be fine, as long there's no TAMPERED or RELOCKED on the screen, they wont say anything. however they could S-ON the device before returning it, i saw a post somewhere where that happened to a user.
Just send it in with your carrier stock ruu stock recovery non rooted so stock ruu just leave it s-off and you will be fine

Ok, thanks for the info Will give it a go, and see what happens...
Just to clarify, it should be fine to send the device in with:
1) A LOCKED bootloader
2) No TAMPERED flag
3) and S-Off still intact?
Is this for definate? Or will the fact that it's still S-Off void the warranty?
Is there a way to edit hboot to be s-off while showing on screen s-on?

Decided to revert back to s-on after what I've read over on twitter (https://twitter.com/HTC_UK/status/303902576687079424), just to be on the safe side.
It's not all bad though, at least the phone is good enough on the stock ROM for me and can't afford the extra expense at the moment of paying for repairs. Ah well, S-OFF was good while it lasted
Can I go s-on with the latest 3.62 firmware or do I need to go back to 2.24.401.1 first?
Better one more stupid question then a bricked phone.Do I need s-on to send it to repairing the camera?

Nope. Just lock your bootloader using revone (it just shows the locked tag) and remove Tampered flag, you won't lose any data (I used Hasoon2000 toolkit for revone). This makes the phone look like it was bought that way.
Besides HTC doesn't pay so much attention to S-OFF, it's just the unlocked bootloader and tampered flag that may void your warranty
Once you S-OFF, I don't see a reason why you will S-ON again.

Ok thank's I have read about people sending it in with s.off and get it s-on in return. But do you know the drill about the s-on, Is it nessesery to have the original 2.24.401 installed to get it right. I did update it OTA so It is 100% now, just forgot about the s-off.

I don't really know if they S-ON the device or not. OTA is fine since it is official. Just in-case, I would check rumrunner S-Off compatibility with your firmware. And check your HBOOT version as well.
Hi guys
i want to send back my phone due to faulty camera. I have to questions:
do i have to back it to stock? I am s-off with custom rom (ARHD), custom recovery etc. If not i wont bother myself.
If they will replace to a new one or reset my current one, what kind of software will I have? Will I be able to s-off and root it? As they probably will install the newest official rom.
cheers,

Yes you need to return to full stock,, ie locked not relocked, tampered removed stock recovery installed. Can't give an answer if you should be S-On or stay S- Off. Some have reported that warranty was void others have said HTC repaired it with S-Off.
Follow this thread to return to full stock

1) You will have the exact same software as the one you gave your phone in. The max HTC will do is install the OTA's. NO alterations to the software will be made if you give the phone to them with the correct MID, CID and bootloader condition as it was out of the box
2) Yes, I gave in my phone after RUU'ing it because of the purple tint issue. After I got it back, bootloader unlock, root, S-OFF were perfectly achieved the same way I did initially
3) In some countries, free repair is done even if S-OFF. Others aren't so lucky. I would recommend that u go back S-ON to prevent headaches later. Otherwise, ask any person who has given their phone for warranty repair in your country
4) The person above has given the link to the guide. I trust you know which RUU to flash

I think it depends on your country. I left my phone S-Off and unlocked and they noticed but did not care. Someone in UAE had the opposite experience. What's the law and what are the customs around purchases with minor manufacturer defects in your country?

Yes its locked, s-on etc. Everything should be fine, I already sent the package with phone hope I will get it soon, and hopefully new one!
ok i got my phone back.
Unfortunately its not new
I wrote them that camera has pink effect and USB socket is not working properly, What they replaced is: camera (actually now works good), back cover and now its kinda strange, mat (unpolished) weird in touch and Audio Speaker, i dont know why. Probably they damaged back cover and audio during camera replacement, but they forgot about USB socket.

Did you have used htcdev or temproot for the bootloader unlock? I do return here in Italy and I don't now if sent it relocked or use htcdev and set it like locked
I did back to stock tutorial, so there was just LOCKED in bootloader.

Are you running a custom ROM or stock ROM? And if it is stock ROM, does version are you running and does it match your current firmware? Please post a fastboot getvar all and remove your Serial No and IMEI
Because you are S-ON, you cannot LOCK the bootloader again, instead it will read RELOCKED. You need to be S-OFF to change the lock status
You may also get a TAMPERED message when you lock the bootloader using the command fastboot oem relock
If all is running stock I would chance it and send it in for repair, as at the end of the day this is a hardware fault not brought around by unlocking your bootloader

not 100% true, dont send your phone back relocked, you will need to do whatsteve says and get s-off, then flash an early RUU and HBOOT before locking the bootloader and going s-on, otherwise you risk the tampered flags coming back, the phone must be 100% stock.
HTC will refuse a warranty repair in any other condition, they will blame you on the grounds that since you unlocked the bootloader you could of done anything with the phone like flashed an unsupported kernal and overclocked etc, the camera issue is caused by overheating.

From my own experiencea friend sent it in with an unlocked boot loader and they repaired it. But they may have just been lucky.
I wouldn't return to s on on any bootloader later than 1.54, as when you do the writesecureflag command the phone will display a TAMPER DETECTED message and then you're back to square one
Best thing to do would be achieve s off using sunshine
Downgrade hboot to earlier version e.g. 1.44
flash an earlier RUU
Use revone to reset the status of the bootloader to LOCKED, ensure tamper message is not there
Then, if you really must, run the writesecureflag command. That's how I've done it before, and after hboot 1.54 you will def get the tamper detected message
I always leave my phone s off tho

you need s-off so you can downgrade using a ruu, lock the bootloader and turn back s-on.
Try sunshine s-off and then follow nkk71's guide linke in my signature.
