Now 4.3 is rolling out.. I have a rooted my phone and using many root required apps. If I update to 4.3 now.. Will my root function still work or should I wait for some developer to find a way to root the New firmware..??

Better wait. If you flash FTF, root will be gone and previous root method might not work on 4.3.
Oh **** ok.. Then better I wait till some easy rooting method is found..

i believe the OP in that thread already answered ur question
houlaed case
I just update my 5503 following this method and everything is fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590174
My phone was already rooted on 4.2 (to use FolderMount...)
I followed the instruction except I download another Ftf for 5503 and created a new stripped ftf.
Just be careful after the update... if you use Titaniumbackup (or another backup soft) don't restore Supersu or the root will be gone.
If you do, just go back to recovery and flash again the supersufix.zip

You can also first root up to 4.2.2 including .67 by proved and updated Bin4ry tool. I did it for ZR C5503 originally updated via OTA to .67. The v33 uses the same new exploit, just choose method 0.

@eljibZR, I've 2 basic questions:
1. How to update rooted .67 to 4.3 so the root will be preserved AND also remains further upgradable OTA - Will OTA really work on ZR and what preparations needed? Did you make stripped Nordic version C5503_10.4.B.0.569_1274-1395_R2C_Nordic or what are the steps to make it?
2. Someone mentioned FolderMount v2.5 doesn't work on emulated SD like ZR for 4.3, can you confirm? If that's true how to move apps/data to SD?

Sorry for late answer I ve been busy these days...
So:
1. In order to do this I ve followed this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590174
I was already rooted on .67 and now I m rooted thanks to Sijav "pre rooted" .569 as it was first made for 5502, now in PC companion my phone is seen as 5503 (instead of 5503...)
So it s still upgradable but for the next update I ll try to switch back to a 5503 firmware because now I cannot use LTE (I don't really care as there is no 4G in my country..)
That s why I m not 100% happy with this solution.
If I have enough free time I m gonna try this method as it s meant for 5503: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2592054
You should try this one too as there is root, recovery...
To make a stripped ftf you need
- a ftf like the Nordic version C5503_10.4.B.0.569_1274-1395_R2C_Nordic
- flashtool
Method:
- open flashtool and click on the lightning icon then choose "flashmode"
- on the top of the new window, select the folder where you put the Nordic ftf
- in 'exclude' select 'system'
- flash it!
2. No! Flashtool is working very well on ZR. It was working on 4.2 and it s still working on 4.3 but you need root.
It s app2sd.... which isn 't working.
It s pretty simple to use.
The concept is to create a kind of fake folder link so that for the system the file stays on the internal memory although the data are in fact on the removable SD...
How to use:
- download and open
- open and press "+" on the top
- select the folder you want to move to the sd
- follow instruction...
It s pretty easy but the free version allows you only 3 paired folder so you may want to go for the premium.
Also, you need to know where are the data.
For big games, there is usually 2 folder:
- one in Internal Memory/Android/Data: that s the first one you download first in the playstore: I usually don't paired it because it s usually a few Mb (20...30...)
- the second is in Internal Memory/Android/Obb: that s the big one, the one you need to download on the first start of the game. That"s the one you may want to paired on SD as it is often huge. 800Mb for Asphalt 8 for example
One last thing, if you reboot your phone, wait a little before opening your foldermounted app as the software need to get root authorization and then mount again the folders...

You probably meant FolderMount is working on 4.3.
But, if I'm okay with stock 4.3 ROM and still on rooted stock .67 with SuperSU Pro 1.89 (LB, no recovery), can I just upgrade to 4.3 by OTA and remain rooted as per SuperSU Pro feature, anyone succeeded?

Yes, .569 is available OTA for at least for HK C5503_1274-0031 version.
OTA avl here in INDIA.. Has anyone who has rooted tried it??

I tried the ota update from a rooter 4.2 to 4.3 but it didn't work! The system said that the installation process wasn't successful. Don't know why! (I just have the normal supersu app not the pro one)
So i had to take the long way via bootloader unlock, but now everything's fine again!

Did you checked Survival Mode checkbox when tried OTA (if you enabled Pro features - the last checkbox in settings)?

Hi
So i have the Xperia Z and went about rooting it as i've always done with all my devices.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186368
Followed the usual as always kindly provided by DoomLord.
It "kinda" worked, it never asked for permissions for SuperUser so anything requiring root access took a while then timed out and failed. So, i installed SuperUser from the android market and it worked well, for a few installs like themes etc. Root Checker was happy it had root access, ES Explorer happily let me overwrite default themes with root access. Then ES Explorer crashed, the root checker said i no longer had root access and problems arose.
Im no longer rooted for some reason but i can no longer re-root.
I get the error "Too many symbolic links encountered" when trying to write the system/bin SU file. I can't do it manually and i cant do it with the flash tools.
Here is the rooting tool log:
Main point
"/system/bin/su: cannot open for write: Too many symbolic links encountered
Unable to chown /system/bin/su: Too many symbolic links encountered
Unable to chmod /system/bin/su: Too many symbolic links encountered"
Anyone able to help ?
Thanks
Adam

Damn, the thought of having to redo all my apps and stuff is daunting. I dont trust the standard backup software (non-root) to be able to set my phone up back how it was, well i know it wont
I do understand the steps, i had root access for a while, but like others on the rooting thread, i didn't get superuser asking to set any permissions and it never would, until i uninstalled it from Apps, redownloaded it from the market and updated the binaries. Then i had root access for a few installs using CWM. I'm not sure how it lost it to be honest.
I'll do the restore and see how it goes the second time.

Follow this (thats what i did and i never had problems)
1) back up your files (like app backups ex. 3g watch dog, sms backup, whatsapp etc..., not full backups with CWM or the original sony back up, start fresh.
2) repair it with Sony update service
3) after repairing and logging into phone, wipe user data under settings > backups and restore (this procedure will remove all your internal files)
4) after doing all that, head to settings > developer tools and check the USB plug thingy, then head over to security and check the allow other apps to install thingy, then root it with doomlord thread's root
5) after rooting is done, you should now have superuser (SU1). go to play store and download superSU (SU2) <----(the chainfire one)
6) launch the superuser (SU1) (that it came with, the first one) and set up the app, then exit and head over to the (SU2) chainfire, SU(1) will ask you do you want to let SU(2) grant access to your files, click yes or grant.
7) go to settings > apps > and remove the superuser (SU1).
8) install CWM if you need.
stick with the chainfire (SU2) and it should be okay. Dont uninstall it.
for me i havent had any problems with this, so hopefully it will work for you as well.

Uh oh i have a huge problem now. I did the Sony Update Service, I got "The Update was Unsuccessful " ... try again blah blah but my phone now wont boot. Grrrr... When turning on it vibrates, comes up with "Sony" and then goes off again.
I'm trying the SUS again but im not hopeful. Argh. Looks like i'll be taking a trip to a Sony shop. I hope they can't tell i messed around with the software and refuse to honour the warranty
Oh phew, the 4th time i did the SUS it managed to complete. Scary
OK root seems to have stuck well this time.
Thanks for your help

I did pretty much the same, but didn't use SuperSU, but Koush's Superuser.
"/system/bin/su: cannot open for write: Too many symbolic links encountered
Unable to chown /system/bin/su: Too many symbolic links encountered
Unable to chmod /system/bin/su: Too many symbolic links encountered"
I think you already have the symbolic link on /system/xbin/su
For me the su root file is in xbin folder!
check if you have a su file in the xbin folder.
I have an Xperia T its says that the boot loader can't be unlocked but is there still a way to root the phone to put superuser on it.
Its my first android and any help will be appreciated and please direct me to where i need to be.
the build number for the phone its 9.1.A.1.145
Yes, rooting is possible without unlocking the bootloader. Please read the All-in-One thread, all the information is in there. Then, use Doomlord's Easy Rooting Toolkit to root.

i haven't got a linux machine only a windows 8 laptop and an iMac so is there any .sh that will work on mac
Can confirm that option 2 no longer works from the .145 firmware. I need to go back to stock and restore my backup TA to send the phone back for warranty repair. I start the display service test as instructed and nothing happens. I'm on windows 7.

Use mtp (media transfer mode) instead of msc. I had this problem and I fixed it with this method

The solution I found was just to flash a .303 ftf and root it from that. Rooting becomes very easy.
Hey guys,
Have the C6903 and am looking at upgrading to RomAur v4.1, where at the moment I have C6903 14.1.G.2.257 Generic AU 1277-0078_R3A loaded. I ran some command and it mentioned that Bootloader can be unlock..
So the question is how to do i do the upgrade to RomAur v4.1, while keeping my phone contacts, messages and notes? Dont really care about apps as I can re-download them again..
If there is a post that already mention how this is done please link it for me as I didnt find what I was looking for...
Thanks in advance...
Cheers,

Why don't you just sync everything with EverNote and Google? I came from an iPhone before getting my Z1 and 2 minutes after switching it ON, it just had my contacts already. Was really amazed. If this works from iOS to stock ROM, no wonder it will work from stock ROM to RomAur.
If you can't get such feature (I doubt a lot that you can't, developers here do such an awesome job) in your custom ROM, just forget it?

I suppose is even impossible to update from stock to custom and keep all data. To do that you have make a full wipe to do a fresh install and do not have problems.
Of course its possible...
Backup contacts to google and then restore, backup messages using sms backup and restore afterwards and backup notes using any backup app and restore afterwards...
Or am I missing something here...

As strange as it sounds, I really dont want to have my contacts sync to my google account. It was ok when it was in iCloud (I came from iPhone as well) as it was separate from my normal google email and calendar.

Yes from what I read a full wipe is required, hence I thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone have/can do it. All good guess I will do what Vanarian suggest but I will create dummy account to sync my contacts first.
Thanks for the reply guys and have a merry merry xmas!

Why dummy account anyway? The same account to backup your contact you will use to access to Play Store for apps so no reason to do not do that.

If you are really concerned just use PC Companion Xperia Transfer or backup and restore option, this way you can restore a lot of your settings as well

Have I missed something?
I should mentioned that I am trying to upgrade to RomAur v4.1 AROMA LB C6903 jb4.3, I was on .257 with no root so had to downgrade to 534 to get root, so I can backup my TA. so did deviate from the install instruction on RomAur's post.
Possibly, you didn't mention turning on usb debugging. Double check that because I also do not see that in your log capture
Well, I've been trying to root my Xperia TL (LT30at) to delete some bloatware and to install a recovery, for later change the ROM.
The problem here is that while I try to root with the bin4ry file, it always says to me there is no Backup & Restore app (which is true) and just waits for me to open the fake backup, which never shows up.
The most similar thing here the AT&T My Locker, which I cannot use because I'm from outside the US and in my country there is no such thing as AT&T.
By the other way I try to use the NUT's Dual Recovery (XT-lockeddualrecovery2.7.123-BETA.installer). It always tells me it was successful, but when I try to go to the recovery, It only turns on normally (obviously I always stay pressing the Volume Up button even after he shows me the AT&T logo).
So then, what should I do?
If anyone can help me I will be eternally grateful.

Mad Marty is right, you have to be rooted before installing CWM.
You can find Doomlord's Easy Rooting Toolkit here: http://d-h.st/1Gp
Keep in mind that it works only with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 firmwares (so I guess you're OK) and remember to turn on USB debugging in developer option before rooting.

That thread you linked to implies that the phone is already rooted; OP is trying to root.
@Darkanimus: You might want to check out this method, which seems to work for the LT30at.
I have a little more advance:
Now I have the backup & restore app and the Bin4ry's shell detects it (using the v18 and the v33). But when I'm going to "restore" the rootme file, when the confirmation screen appears, the app crashes and I still can navigate through the phone. When I go to the home screen, it shows an advice saying that Backu & Restore just crashed. What should I do?

OTA update will most probably unroot the phone.
you can use SU pro to retain the root after OTA update.
did an OTA upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2, root access is retained but i plan to make another OTA update to 4.3 but will get the SU Pro prior to the upgrade just to be more sure.

I have had bad experiences with updating over the air, I find it much better to flash a Rom with flashtool and re-root if you flash stock...
Good luck!!

The upgrade seems to have a lot of issues
1. My calculator has been changed from the initial scientific calculator to a regular calculator with no special functions
2. The developer option in setting is missing
3. The screenshot option in power is also missing
4. The display is hazzy (seems to be vibrating at to areas of the screen)
5. NFC seems not to be working and no NFC or BEAM in sending option list
6. Camera delays when coming on more than before
I have also done an OTA upgrade to 4.3 but still the same maybe camera is slightly faster but not as on 4.1

The calculator is normal, a more featured one can be downloaded from elsewhere
Go to setting/about phone and tap on build number about 10 times. This will enable developer options..
Why not install a custom rom and see if that fixes any of your problems,,,I am using this one with no bother at all..its awesome...

Take screenshot is present in power menu..
There are no `hazy` areas on the screen..
NFC works, with my bluetooth headset anyways, but be aware that there is no icon in notifications..its a KitKat thing..
I dont use the stock camera, prefer to use lenovo camera, so unable to comment..
Best advise I can offer is to give the rom a try, try some others roms, there a loads of great ones, and see which one suits your needs..
Back up your data etc.. before you flash, I`m sure you know this anyways...
Good Luck!!
please can you give a procedure for the backup i am not excellent at these, i can't seem to find the link to the custom ROM
