[Q] Is there a better way to prevent roaming? (Verizon) - Moto X Q&A

I am interested in keeping my Moto X (Verizon) from roaming and it seems like the network setting menu is missing some options, like a way to select home network only. The only manner I have found to accomplish this is in the “Phone info” menu that is accessible via the LTE ON/OFF app (or anycutt), I have found a few “preferred network” modes that disable roaming (CDMA only, EvDO only and LTE only) however these modes cannot be combined so its 3g/4g data or voice. Is there a better way to turn off roaming that allows the use of data and voice at the same time?

Toggle between 3G and GSM.

Hello,
I use Schap's 10 button CommManager on my Kaiser.
It has a button to toggle 3G.
My question is : Can I somehow modify it so that it toggles between 3G and GSM and not between 3G and Auto mode ?
I wanto to force either 3G or GSM mode and not allow switching between the modes automatically.
Thanks for your help.

In settings -> phone you can select band. Auto is for 3G. GSM is GSM only. So if you put it on GSM, and you enable or disable 3G in comm manager, it only enables or disables the data connection, right? It doesn't switch GSM to 3G does it? I don't know. I still have my std rom.

Turning off 4G

Several times in my week with the moto x internet will stop working despite the 4g sign being blue in the status bar. It happens in crowded areas where there is likely a lot of people connecting to a single cell tower (concert, sporting events, etc), but friends on other Verizon phones (iPhone and S4) still have service as their phone has switched them to 3g.
Is there a way to force 3g mode? In Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode there is only the option for LTE / CDMA and GSM / UMTS (which doesn't work), not CDMA only mode like there was on the Gnex. Any apps or tricks to force the switch?
Use the app LTE OnOff from the Play Store. Says it's for HTC Thunderbolt but works fine on the X.

[Q] LTE/3G switch issue

Hi, I have an F340L and from the hidden menu I've set the Data connection to Global+LTE. When I'm in an LTE area the phone automatically connects to the 3G network and not to 4G. In order to make a 4G connection I have to enter the hidden menu, set it to LTE only, the device reboots and then the LTE connection is possible. Why is that? I mean why the device prefers 3G in an LTE area and needs the above procedure. Is there anyway to bypass that without a reboot or even automatic 4G connection? Any workaround, input or comments are welcome.

[Q] How to force Moto X Developer edition (Verizon) to use only 3G

PagePlus does not activate an LTE phone on their "low-end" plan but allows a modified LTE phone to be activated. I used an app to make it CDMA only but PagePlus still cannot activate it saying it has some issues because their system still thinks it is LTE. I wonder if I have to something special on the phone.
I unlocked fast boot. The phone is not yet rooted.
Any help is appreciated.
Network connections? Set preffered to 3G/2G.
@kyzn is right with going to Settings > More > Cellular networks > Preferred network type and selecting 3g. This does not mean it will be in 3g only because 2g is there for a backup network signal in case that the 3g or higher signal is lost. Shouldn't be problem for you with what you are asking.

Grab this app, it'll take you to a menu which lets you select the mode you want.

How can I neable just 3G/4G network mode on my SM-N920G?

Hi
I'm trying to get the best Internet connection on my phone. My carrier doesn't support voice over LTE so if I set the Network mode to LTE only I got no calls incoming or outgoing.
The other options I have are 2G only or 3G only, which makes my LTE data plan useless.
Best option is to have it configured to 2G/3G/LTE, but the problem is that when I'm usually stuck with an excellent 2G connection (with useless internet), instead of a not lousy/not great 3G connection, which still has better Internet speed and stability than 4G.
I'm looking to have my phone only see 3G/4G and not 2G, but I don't have a network mode for that. How can I enable the network mode I require?
I'm rooted so if I can enable it somewhere in the system, that is an option.
Thanks in advance
