So I tried to root my Galaxy S Advance using Odin. Everything went well until the reboot part. It's been stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S Advance logo screen for a while. What can I do ?
Thanks !
Flash the firmware again! Upgrade to jelly bean, if on gb, and use shaan's method to root.

That root method with Odin is for Android 2.3. You tried it on 4.1.2? If yes, then download your JB firmware again and install it with Odin (like you did with that root). And use this for root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087424

Yes, I tried it on 4.1.2. I'm downloading the firmware now (it seems I'll have to wait a bit longer), I'll install it and I'll get back to you to tell if it worked. Thank you !

Yes, it will work. That zip is signed, and it can be installed with stock recovery without root.

Guys, I've encountered another problem and I thought it wasn't necessary to open another thread. So..I managed to root my phone and I would like to install a custom ROM but I have problems with Clockwork mode. I found a thread about temporary CMW for JB and I tried it but it doesn't seem to work. I installed it but when I want to navigate through it's menus (for example going to the "install zip from sd card" menu) it restarts. Even when I try to reboot my phone ("reboot system now") it doesn't work. CWM just restarts. Any thoughts ?

Install CoCore with Universal kernel flash, and use permanent cwm. You need to unzip it, and use kernel.bin.md5 and you must have some root explorer installed.

No, you cannot change kernel without rooting your phone.
And rooting has a lot less risk of bricking phone.

Ok I have a root now ,
when I rebooted my note to recovery I get this : Android system recovery <3e>
It looks like CWM but has no backup and restore options and thats why Iam confused
How I can get the CWM I used to use with my HTC Sensation
It looks like you only did root when what you wanted was root + CWM.
Go back to Dr.Ketan's guide and look at the procedure below this line that is in the first post:

My summary of your best options:
Follow from Step 2 and use the already-rooted.bat file
OR
The better (in my opinion) way:
Purchase Mobile Odin Pro(MOP) from the market and go get the CF Root Kernel that matches your firmware to get CWM. Just put the Kernel on your sdcard and run MOP, make sure EverRoot and all injections are checked, select file, find kernel, flash. Done.
MOP has also enabled us to retain root when flashing stock firmware updates by using the EverRoot and injections options, however you will lose most CWM functions when this is done. To regain CWM, you simply follow the same steps as above to update to a matching CF Root Kernel.
Have fun, and be sure to hit the thanks button for Ketan and Chainfire!
Dear beestee,
So: I have Kernel KK2 - Download This - and Extract
then : I am Already Rooted - Execute "already-rooted.bat" and follow the instructions
is there any side effects ? like format ot can not Upgrade via OTA or else?
Is there any thing need to be packed up first? like the original kernel if this method will change it
Nothin side effect, you can upgrade over OTA, BUT If you update over OTA/kies, you will lose Root.
So you have to use CWM or Mobile odin to update newer ROM

Ok I done it and it working, but I found that CWM is a program now you can access from phone not like in HTC where you must inter bootloader and MAGLDR to inter CWM
I can make the backup and restore from inside the program - right?
You can get it with entering recovery too, you have to press Home + Vol UP + Power to enter in recovery mode.
you can simply do it with inside app - restart in recovery
when you give command to backup, it will restart and auto enter in recovery mode and finish it

*NOTICE* Samsung Galaxy GT-5570i mistake in title :S
Hi
Okay so the problem is my Samsung galaxy mini doesnt get detected by Odin v.4.85 but it gets detected in v.1.85. I've tried restarting the phone many times. All settings are set in the "Application" and USB debugg. All usb drivers are installed 100% with Samsung Kies.
Also tried reinstaling the drivers and other versions it still didnt work. Its 100% not the USB cable cuz it works perfectly fine when out of download mode and Kies recognizes the device.
I've tried rooting it with SuperOneClick also , that one gets stuck on one line...I've also tried through recovery mode but it didnt work either i got error, and interrupted.
Also a question : Is it possible to get clockworkmod and root without using Odin?
In any case theese info are needed:Android version is 2.3.6(i did not install this one it came with the phone) , Baseband version 25570IXXKL4, Kernel Version 2.6.35.7([email protected] #1), Build Number GINGERBREAD.IXXKL4

I not have understand if you have rooted or not? if not, before of flash from recovery you must rename the package zip for rooting in update.zip or upd_1.zip (this should be right for your firmware) and then go in recovery and do apply update from sdcard and should works, if not if you not rename the package not works.

But now in order to install Custom ROM's i need clockworkmod. I've been searching for days bricked my phone twice and still couldnt find any working cwm FOR SAMSUNG GT S5570I becouse this one and the GT s 5570 use diferent system...Thats what i learnt so far:S
~Best regards Riste!
I rooted my phone and installed CWM.
However rooting and installing roms are not for me. So I want to go back to my warranty.
How can I unroot and remove CWM and go back to my warranty, I still have 21 months of warranty period and I dont want to burn it
I found how to unroot, installing unroot file and setuping it like rooting but how to remove CWM.
Thx a lot
Taha
if you have a stock rom then flash it with Odin
else for unrooting first remove superuser app then busybox and sqlite3 then su and you will be unrooted
for going to stock recovery you will need its img and have to flash with odin
weird thing I only had superuser. after putting unroot.zip into my sdcard.
I turn off my device and go to the recovery - tadaaa CWM is gone.
What can cause this?
How I install CWM? Put the cwm into sd card and installed it via recovery menu.
Thx a lot

I found this file in this forum and looks like it did the job. I check with root checker and it says I'm not rooted.
But I'm confused about CWM. How it deleted itself. It deleted itself before unrooting process.
I don't have the answer
I guess flashing a stock firmware gives you the stock recovery. So its obvious that you'll lose CWM.

Hi everyone!
My device: XT890
I´m on
JB 4.1.2,
Build Nummer 9.8.21-50_SMI-26.1358455837
Bootloader unlocked (done this under ICS)
System: 91.2.26001.XT890.Retail.en.EU
Baseband: Sunrise_SMB_REV30_V2_R3_Enzo_1251.B_SEC
my Problem:
No way to get root, every method i tried failed.
Using the Fastboot commands in the CMD and try to push the recovery rzri-tryAtouch.img my PC freezes, the phone shows "downloading" but nothing happens..
I have to reboot my PC and my phone.
If fastboots doesn´t stuck, it says, that the image is "too large" like that, also totally stuck.
Also a fail with the boot logo...
Now my questions:
-Can i use "RDS lite" to flash a prerooted rom to root my RazR i?
Or what to do to flash the cwm recovery to install the RazRIRoot2?
If i´m on stock recovery, the installation aborted!!
I´m not sure if i understand the whole thread...
-What to do to root my phone? (its already bootloader unlocked!)
Please help!!
-IMPORTANT!:
Solved the issue by Wiping the phone, disable Firewall and Malewarybytes, then flash like in this Video explained-everthing works fine. And
I got root on JB 4.1.2 ! Thanks !

Hi. I have Android 2.3.6 on my Galaxy Ace. I wanted to root it with upd_1.zip. I used the stock recovery. It said installation complete, so I rebooted. The Superuser icon has appeared in my app drawer so I was very happy that it was successful, but my SuperUser says that I haven't got SU binaries, so I haven't got any root access. I've searched for similar problems, but I didn't find any. What do I do now?

Do let me know if it is sorted out by Re-Rooting.

or
https://hotfile.com/dl/180452656/3c2538d/gingerbred-2.3.6-root.zip.html
I actually have a similar sounding problem but arrived at it differently.
My phone had been rooted and working OK for over a year. At some point the latest superuser binary stopped functioning with adb wireless.
So I downloaded SuperSU a few months ago and it's different binary fixed that particular issue. So all was working fine until failing to update that binary today. I'm now in the same boat as you but don't have a clue how or why.
This 2 files are the same as my upd_1.zip. The very same. My upd_1.zip has xbin with busybox, su etc. but it doesn't want to be flashed for some reason. The only files in my xbin folder (in the phone) are : busybox, dexdump, although I flashed the other needed binaries. What is this? Is this my phone's fault?
@edit : Can I flash CWM without those binaries?

Yes you can, and then you can try to flash root again.
If not you can flash CF-Root (only for Gingerbread!!) maybe it works :S
1º Flash via recovery CWM
http://www.mediafire.com/download/u331vcwkr36c28n/CF-Root-S5830-v3.7-b84.zip
2º Flash via CWM APP, it'll fix the bootanimation
when your android will boot, go to CWM app (in your drawer) and select "Flash kernel" and select this file
http://dfiles.eu/files/1sfl9qotm
I flashed CWM Recovery, and now when I select install zip from sdcard and select root file, it says error 7 - update aborted.
@edit - I found the AceGingerRoot.zip. Is it legit and can I install it on GT-S5830 (it has different MD5 than upd_1.zip and root.zip).

The last firmwares haven't enough space in system partition to push correctly root files, I don't know about your rom, I'm using KTM form Spain as base and I've never had a trouble, but if your problem is that your rom is using all the internal memory (system partition) you couldn't push root files, so you can try deleting ThinkFree from the system partition and then try to root your phone...

OK. I'm gonna do that, but can you post me some links with download and instructions for my Ace?
And - if I flash a new ROM with Odin, will my CWM recovery disappear?
Oh, I found my ROM on Samfirmware from Play Mobile (XWKTQ 2.3.6), so there's no point of installing it right? I need just a fine ROM with polish language.
EDIT - I almost forgot - I didn't tried the Delete_thinkdroid.zip thingy. I'm gonna flash it now and post the results.
EDIT 2 - WHAT?! I flashed Delete_thinkdroid.zip and it didn't even deleted it. I still have ThinkFree and it's working! Guess i'm gonna need that new ROM. It seems that my ROM just refuses to use recovery flashing in any way.
