Tranquil 4.3 RLS2 - Trouble w/ Theme - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Flashed the Red Theme and now the "unfortunately, HTC Sense has stopped" displays endlessly. I can bypass it by using the shortcuts on the lockscreen but can't get to the homescreen or app drawer after. Tried re-flashing twice but with no change. Any tips?

have you tried fixing permissions within twrp?

Yes, tried that - no change.
Also, tried downloading again and flashing after verifying MD5 matched.

Are you wiping cache/dalvik cache when flashing?

Yes, first try wiped cache/davlik, flashed, fixed permissions, then rebooted.
Second try, wiped cache/davlik, flashed, wiped again, fixed permissions, reboot.
Third try, same as first minus fixed permissions.
Fourth try, same as second minus fixed permissions.

Maybe try a fresh install of rls2,let it boot, dont change anything in tweaks or setting then flash the theme, wipe dalvik and cache and see if it works then. I flashed it with no problems yesterday so maybe it has something to do with your settings

It's a flashable zip(right) perms should be good. What rls you on. You haven't flash anything else that may cause problems when flashing the theme?

Yes, it's a flashable zip - downloaded from steal25's post in the Tranquil 4.3 RLS2 thread. Running 4.3 RLS2 and everything was fine until today when I flashed the theme (only thing I flashed in recent memory).

At this point, I'll settle for going back to the standard blue theme. So I tried a dirty flash of 4.3 RLS2 (wiping cache and davlik and then a reboot) but it didn't help either. Did that because, like a fool, I didn't backup anything before I flashed the theme. If nothing helps, I try to backup as much data as I can and then do a full wipe - but I would only like to do that as a last resort.

Thanks BD! Tried to post in that thread but I didn't have permissions to do so. Also, PM'ed steal25 and he asked if I could send him a log but when I run logcat all I get is:
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
/sbin/sh: exec: line 1: logcat: not found
He suggested alogcat from the market so I got that a saved a log after a few of those errors. Let me know if I should let it run a bit longer and I'll re-post the log.

By the way, can I attach files to the post instead? If so, where is that option?

Well if you dirty flashed the original rom and it didn't fix the issue, then there really isn't anything anyone could give you to recover from your situation.
Be careful what you back up now as that data could be corrupted. At least I would suggest not to back up any system data.
I would do a clean install and then the theme again before bothering with more logcats.

First, thanks to everyone for their time and suggestions.
Decided to try another launcher (GO Launcher EX), which would buy me time until RLS3 is available. I remembered that I had TI installed and hoped to find a backup of Sense that I made after installing RLS2. Found it, restored it and rebooted and I'm up and running RLS2. There are some things that aren't functioning normally - can't go into Settings/Personalize, every reboot resets my home page, and I'm guessing a few others that I haven't found yet. I was able to make a backup of my Call Log, SMS, MMS, and pictures - the only items I was really worried about anyway - and will wait until RLS3 is ready.
Thanks again for everyone's help!

New Market Question

Hey so I realized that since im running CM 6.1 im not gonna get the new market. I have seen a bunch of apks of it but people have been having issues along they lose a couple Google apps. My questions are is there a stable apk, how should I go about installing (some people said wipe market cache and dalvik)? And has anyone had download issues with the new market? Thanks in advance.

You could always flash the new market and reinstall the google apps. Or run a backup of your apps on titanium backup, flash the market, then restore your gapps minus the old market

What gapps did you flash when you flashed the ROM? I looked in the DC 2.8.1 thread and I did not see the gapps file.. I don't see why there would be a different gapps for every ROM.. Nandroid and flash it, see what happens.

[Q] Can't receive calls?

Hi, I just installed the Andromeda ROM on my Captivate, and quickly realized that i can't receive any calls. I can, however, make calls. If there's a quick fix for this, that would be great, if not, I guess I'll have to flash back to another ROM... Thanks.
Not a rom issue cause I have been running andromeda for three dates with no such issue.
first have you asked this on the rom thread?
Have you tried going into airplane mode then back?
Reboot?

Go into recovery, clear davlik cache under advanced options, reflash rom.
Did you restore things with titanium backup, and if so did you restore any system data
Just curious why you would suggest clearing cache then reflash rom when the script is going to wipe it anyway?

You're going to have to reflash, like they said. I did this the first time I flashed a ROM and though "Oh great.. I knew I shouldn't have flashed from stock...", but I just reflashed and didn't restore system data, and all has been working great since then.
Fixed
That fixed it. Reflashed Andromeda and restored only apps with Titanium Backup, not system data. Everything seems to be working great now.
Thanks.

[Q] Backup/Recovery account issues

Running CM7RC
Decided to try one of the themes so I did a backup first using ROM Manager.
Didn't like the themes so I tried to restore.
It is coming up without my google account and there is no option to add it in the account settings.
I've wiped and reapplied the backup and also fixed permissions to no avail so far.
I'm finishing a 2nd fix permissions after wiping everything (even Davlik).
Has anyone ever had this happen to them? If so, what was the fix?
I'd rather get it restored than start over...
Restoring the account settings in Titanium doesn't help either.
I'm screwed, aren't I?

Yes, happened to me many times when I flashed CM and forgot to flash gapps.
Download gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip from here: http://goo-inside.me/google-apps/ and flash from recovery.
Did you use clockworkmod 3.0? It's been known to messed things up during nandroid restore.
Flash GAPPS like other have mentioned.
If not full wipe and start over, use AMon Ra or an older CWM version

Yes, it is cwm 3.0
For now I've done a full wipe and started over and after a couple of days of tweaking I'll likely forget the incident. I might try restoring and flashing gapps but I have my doubts as to whether that would work.
I'm going to have to start being more vigilant about backing up apps/settings/data in other ways if a nandroid backup isn't dependable...
Thanks for the comments.
OK, I just flashed RC2 and the account issue popped back up so it isn't necessarily that backup I did before.

Flashing cm9 nightlies

Do a search in the dev forum for 'nightlies'. In the thread you'll find the download link, I think it's 'terrachata'. Install the file with cwm. (install zip > choose zip from sdcard). Do a wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache beforehand . If coming from cm9 alpha 2, no need to wipe/delete data, factory reset.

Absolutely no need to wipe anything.
I've flashed each nightly "over the top" of the previous version without any problem.
You can use Rom Manager to flash. Just tell it to use the existing version of CWM when it asks and check the version you have manually installed either 2 or 3 and away you go.
Then you can install all zip updates and mods the same way.
Check out buildprop-supreme-rohan-v1.1 for some cool tweaks including 120dpi screen settings.

With any android system, you should ALWAYS wipe at least cache and dalvik after flashing a rom update. It only takes 5 seconds, and can help you avoid big issues.
You can use Rom Manager to flash.

DON'T use Rom Manager to flash roms, it's just a bad idea. Many devices have been bricked because of that app. Just boot into recovery, install the zip, and wipe cache and dalvik. It only takes an extra 30 seconds to do it through recovery, and will make it so you don't have any issues.

Boot into recovery, and before doing anything else, go to Backup and Restore, then hit Backup. Backups will probably take about 600mb or so, more if you have a lot of apps on there. You only need to keep one backup on the device, and you can copy the backup off the memory onto a computer if you want to save space.

The nightlies are basically compiled each night from the cm9 source. Its an automated process so the changes are what was changed in the cm source in the last 24 hours. Usually its nothing major, if its something big you'll probably see an alpha posted on rootzwiki.

I'm interested in moving my backup from my touchpad to my computer to save space, however, my "backups" folder is empty...
As I'm writing this I'm realizing that I may have preformed a backup before doing a factory settings/data reset/wipe so would that be erased when I did the wipe/reset?
I know now that if coming from another version of CM9 their is no need to wipe the factory data/settings, instead just wipe the other two (forget what their called)
Should be in a folder called ClockworkMod
After updating nightlies
What should I expect to have to re install?
gapps?
dpi fix?
any launcher settings?
what typically breaks/resets and has to be re-configured?
DPI fix is all.
Any changes you make to your build.prop file will be erased on an update from one nightly to the next (or CM9 to another nightly). Anything else - apps, gapps, settings, etc), should not change.
Personally, I've become used to the 160DPI default, which works quite nicely on the latest nightly. Yes, there isn't as much screen space, but I don't mind. I don't have THAT many things I need on the screen at once - one widget, half a dozen or so app shortcuts, that's about it for my main home screen. So 160 works pretty well, especially for office docs and kindle reading.
160 v 120, what do they actually look like when compared? I know that running 160 has the portrait app grid view off kilter (landscape looks fine)
120 I find ends up with a row and at least one column off of the screen, so you can't use them. 160 doesn't have that issue unless you go portrait.

boot looping when I update with Viperboy 1.1.0

I am rooted on a Sprint One and had stock HTC. Then downloaded the Viperrom 1.0.4 and had no trouble get it on, did not loose any of my settings or folders. Able to get on to recovery and reinstall the back up i had made with no rpoblems.

I did the same thing as you. Mine got caught in a bootloop, I couldn't get the damn thing to force restart either. The bottom home & back key just kept flashing no matter how long I held it. I had to wait forever for the battery to die. I think something might be wrong with the restart fail safe HTC built in. So I relocked it, flashed back to stock, go to sprint store of course it reboots perfect every time. The people at the store are morons I hate going there. The guy says to me you just hold it down and the restart menu will come up. I'm like if the phone is frozen that doesn't work. None the less I don't expect them to replace something that is working. So I re-unlocked, cleared everything and installed latest build fresh works great haven't had any issue. I didn't back up either so I had to re set everything up which takes forever. I'm not a fan of restoring backups anyway as it can cause issues. I will be doing a nandroid next time and be more careful with dirty flashing. I always dirty flashed on MeanBean on my LTE without issues and Mike made it very clear when dirty update was not advised. In my opinion they shouldn't release a major update that will bootloop a phone over goo manger. It's still my fault but I didn't think twice about it when I tried to update viper. It still pisses me off that I have to fight with it to get the phone to reboot, the entire point of a fail safe is incase something goes wrong. It's the first time I have ever bootlooped a phone.

Thanks all, I am just where I was. so many opinions and would like to have a concensus.
It won't wipe internal unless you specifically check it in advanced. Never wipe internal, but davlic, cache, data and system are fine and constitutes a full wipe..you should always wipe that way when trying different roms or going to a new base. Or use a superwipe script to make things easier.

im stuck in boot loop after the viper rom and i just got it yesterday .. i dont know what to do at this point . when it does boot it ask me for the wifi login and fails says poor connection when its right next to me
Boot Loop
I'm also stuck in boot loop. I've done research and tried all kinds of stuff with no luck. This is what I get...
Phone boots
I get the notification bar and a black screen
Can't do anything with that.
After about a minute, it reboots.
Can anyone help with this? I have the 1.31 version. Clearing cache/data/delvik does nothing for me.
Can someone help me get it back to stock, or at least usable?

I'm also stuck in boot loop. I've done research and tried all kinds of stuff with no luck. This is what I get...
Phone boots
I get the notification bar and a black screen
Can't do anything with that.
After about a minute, it reboots.
Can anyone help with this? I have the 1.31 version. Clearing cache/data/delvik does nothing for me.
Can someone help me get it back to stock, or at least usable?
Thanks in advance.
