Hello xda members!
I am using Xperia SP without touching anything.
I mean I didn't flash any roms - root it - unlock bootloader etc.
I wan't to root my phone but I am afraid of loosing my warranty.
I can see at some threads if I unroot my phone and repair it with PC Companion or SEUS it's like
i get back my warranty.
Is it true?
Thanks
Do whatever you want on a LOCKED bootloader. You just need to make a copy of your actual firmware, a .ftf file to use with flashtool. If you need to send your phone for warranty repair you flash the .ftf and it gets everything like new.

I am going to follow this guide [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440375]
it requires me to flash some old kernel then root then flash the new.
Will this interfere with the warranty because I am flashing?
Or is it OK to flash?

I don't think flashing will affect your warranty, but if it does and you want to send the device back for repairs, just use SEUS or PC compagnon to do a repair

Hi there!
I've unlocked using flashtool, installed CWM Recovery and rooted using the recovery-only root.
Now, I need to return the phone to as stock as possible - certainly removing root, but relocking the bootloader would be a good secondary objective.
My current plan is to use the flashtool to relock the bootloader, then use the PC software to repair the phone. Will this work?
Thanks for your help
Edit: I've searched the forums but can't find an answer, including in the starting thread - please link to a relevant portion instead of the whole thing if possible
Further edit: There's no 'relock' option in the flashtool - huh?

As of now there is no option to relock the bootloader. You can unroot the phone by simply performing a repair system command in Sony PC Companion or flashing a stock rom. This has been explained in every single rooting or custom MOD thread.
Ya you are right. Relock bootloader using flashtool and repair or flash a ftf from flashtool.
And IIRC in the beta version of flashtool u will find option to relock under BLU. And btw u won't get back DRM keys and no Bravia engine.

I don't see the option to relock anywhere - perhaps as I did the unlock on another PC?
If you can't get it to work with PC Companion use SUS (Sony Update Service which you can download from Sony's website) http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/ --> for UK

You have to relock the bootloader with flashtool beta4,click on BLU.
Flash a stock rom and repair it by update service.

Thanks - I expected there to be a separate button for relocking - whoops!
I've flashed the stock ROM and that's gotten rid of the root. It also says that the bootloader can be unlocked, so that seems all perfect as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for your help, ladies and gentlemen.
Hi, I unlocked the bootloader on my xperia t lt30p one time with intention to root it and install custom roms but never did as I nearly bricked it when putting a kernel on. I managed to put what I think is a stock kernel and rom back on, but I went to update it the other day and pc companion says that it could not complete the operation because the phone has been modified. I read somewhere that having the bootloader unlocked can cause this, so I wish to re lock it. Could anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial to do so? Cheers...

the link provided by our friend is quite good, that's where you have to head over
and about the tutorial, tha't so easy, just flash that FTF file via Flashtools
power off your phone, open flashtools, select flash logo, then FLASH MODE, then connect your phone as you are pressing down the VOLUME DOWN button, and let it do the rest
disconnect and enjoy your relocked bootloader
So I won't need to re flash the rom again? sorry. I'm a bit of a noob at phone modding. Pc's I can do. Not phones yet. Hahaha.
no, flash the relock ftf found in the dev section, and it just relocks your bootloader, your rom will stay the same

RElock won't affect you rom, BUT if you unlcok AGAIN, then at the very first start up of the phone when it is the first time after RE-UNlocking, it will have a factory reset
just wanted to let you know
but for now, NO, it won't touch your firmware
Just done it. Worked. Cheers guys,

You can't root this version directly.
You have 2 options.
1) Unlock bootloader.
2) Downgrade to 4.2, root via vroot then upgrade.
More details here.

You can always use nut method for upgrade but it doesn't support this version i guess.
or you can always go for a custom rom which is prerooted.

i know there is a method will sure work.
-use flashtool flash custom kernel
-go to cwm flash a zip file (update_supersu.zip) provided by someone in xda, credit to tat person!
-finally flash stock ftf with only kernel.
-done! rooted!
@chunlianghere, @thalada, What are you doing People? From all the links just one is correct, for .290. Also NEVER give advice to Unlock Bootlader because users cannot be aware of the risk doing this like lose Permanently DRM Keys and Warranty, FOREVER. Because if you do not advice of the risk someone can Unlock the Bootloader then lose DRM keys and if so it will NEVER be relocked and warranty will be void permanently, so before give advice learn what is all about!
@SpawnCube, the .136 cannot be rooted directly but can be Rooted with the method by NUT for Locked Bootloader. If your Model is C6903 you can downgrade directly to .534 with FW provided by NUT to not lose IMEI, then Root with Bin4ry, then Update to .290 with the instructions given HERE, when you have .290 rooted you are ready to update to .136 with the same method HERE.
For different Models the downgrade have to be done differently, downgrade to .257 FW First, then to .534 FW to not lose IMEI, but you will update anyway so there is no problem even if you will lose it.
Watch the Video Tutorial How To in the first Link for .290. It will explain all.

That sound like you try to be smart without know anything about it. So then you should go back to read the whole Xperia section before Post.
If you Unlock Bootloader you will lose DRM Key permanently and you warranty will be void forever. To avoid that You have to Backup TA, to Backup TA you need Root, but if you Unlock Bootloader before have root you will lose DRM. It is clear NOW?
I think only Samsung lose IMEI? Read again the whole Xperia section and Rooting Section.
If you love Samsung because is not so complicated then you are in wrong section.

actually i dont care much about DRM key anyway. send for warranty only if hardware is spoilt. the most ask them do last warranty repair.
if DRM key n warranty is so much important, than sony would hav "Bootloader unlocked: NO" for all phone in the world
actually sony doesnt do the warranty n repair. it depends on the company in tat particular country. like example for doomlord, his one is only flap damage, but can get 1 to 1 exchange. tat shows tat how good the company is in tat country.
unlocking bootloader n rooting is pretty much standard.
technology n software is improving at a fast rate. the most i get a latest newer phone.

hey eclyptos, hope you still around this thread.
i quite agree with you, since i am one of those who care about warranty.
I hope it's fine to make a question about rooting here 'coz i can't make post on there. anw, i've been trying to follow the steps on here, but i find some trouble.
My status is :
Device : Xperia Z1 C6903
Build number : 14.2.1.136
what I did was :
Installing Flashtool 9.13 on PC
Download C6903_14.2.A.0.290.flashable.zip and put it on my first page of SDcard on device
Download C6903_14.2.A.0.290.Stripped.tft inside flashtool/firmwares folder on PC
Install TWRP on my device (can’t be used, root needed), can’t create a backup *step 5 failed*
XZDualRecovery Question : I’ve download it, connect my device to PC then enable USB debugging mode. Execute the install.bat from XZDualRecovery and choose number 2. Does anything really happened? *step 6 failed?*
Then I install the flashmode and fastboot drivers from flashtool folders. Tried to flashmode C6903_14.2.A.0.290 Brand Generic NCB but it stopped halfway.

The Video Tutorial on that thread explain very well what you should do, did you watched it?
You have to downgrade via Flashtool to .534 FW provided by NUT to not lose IMEI, Root the Firmware with Bin4ry, when you are rooted instal Dual Recovery, then follow the instruction to update directly to .136 from HERE.
All the files you find in .290 thread, Post #3, Watch the Video, then follow .136 thread.
I got damage in my z1.Sony is ready to bear it.but z1 is rooted and unlocked bootloader also.i am on nuts rom 4.4.
