Hi there!
Complete novice to anything to do with coding or anything, so I could really do with a hand here.
Basically, I saw that Canonical are only supporting dual-boot on Nexus devices, which is no good to me with a One X Intl. So, I decided to attempt modifying the dualboot.sh script they posted to include the Endeavor. This enabled me to get the Ubuntu installer app on my phone, but when there should be an option to install Ubuntu through a channel, it says: "Install Ubuntu, no available channels.".
I feel I am so close to getting this port to work, and it is just this one obstacle stopping me, so any advice as to how, or if I even can set up access to a channel would be greatly appreciated.
Josh.

Hey!
I ran into the same problem.
All you have to do is edit your build.prop.
Change your three values to look like these:
ro.product.model=Nexus 4
ro.product.device=mako
ro.product.manufacturer=LGE
I have an Optimus G though and that's why Ubuntu Touch sorta works for me.
Don't know how it'll work out for you, but good luck!

Sorry, but I don't think I can help with that.
I believe that happened to me a long time ago too after flashing a certain ROM.
The only thing I can think of would be to flash a different ROM, though that seems like a big pain.

Yep you would either need another harddrive or to partition your harddrive or to run in a VM
i was just gonna make another partition, and if i do, and it installs, will it automatically ask me which to boot from when i power it on?

Oh okay. If you try something "exotic" let us know your feedback!! I am going to do a reinstall on my computer soon and was thinking of switching away from Ubuntu just for the sake of trying something new so I'd like to hear some objective reviews.
Have you thought about "rolling your own"?

Sorry I meant you can make your own. There's a site dedicated to it but you might not want to do that just yet. Have you looked at OpenSuse? Haven't used it in a while but it was good. Personally it's only the GUI I want to have some variety in so I'm trying out "Xubuntu" which I think is Ubuntu with XDE desktop-thing-which-I-don't-remember-what's-called-thing xD I did read about openSUSE but it was too much like Ubuntu I think
For a complete noob, Ubuntu is the way to go. It'll get you started pretty quick and the interface is just a matter of choice. If you want something that's uberHaxX0rZ, try installing a tiling Window Manager such as awesome instead of Gnome (which is default in Ubuntu).
I myself use Arch Linux with gnome-panel and Compiz as a standalone Window Manager and I'm loving it!
I myself am an Ubuntu man. I'm currently digging the Ubuntu 10.10 beta. 2 weeks until the final release!
I myself is trying to use the default window manager in Kubuntu but I can't get it working It's driving me crazy :/ It just says that non of the effects could be enabled...

This usually happens because the drivers for your graphics card aren't installed properly (or the card is ancient).
This is exactly one of the things why I personally dislike Ubuntu. If you're lucky, it'll work like a charm, but if you're not, you're gonna spend hours and hours trying to get it to work.
Either way, you can probably fix it by downloading and installing proprietary drivers for your card, since the open source ones probably don't work with your card. Though on the other hand, maybe you need to use opensource ones because the proprietary ones that installed automatically don't work? Who knows?
Today Klutsh released psfServiceMod, which allows you to use an android device to downgrade a ps3. It currently supports most popular android phones.... now including the Droid Inc!
The latest release, 3.2, has everything fixed! I've had it for about a day now and all is good, backups and restores are no longer broken and psfreedom works, grab it here: http://www.klutsh.com/download/86/[...card: [url]http://www.klutsh.com/download/25/
Things to keep in mind:
There is a possibility that you will lose the ability to play Blu ray movies if you downgrade, i personally didn't, and i did it twice. I have a launch model 60GB for homebrew.
If your on 3.41 and want an alternate method of jailbreaking, you might consider Adrynaline's psfreedom kernel.
If you want to use the kernel make sure you have the right one, there is a sense and cm6 version. When your phone turns on, you need to open terminal emulator and enter:
su
insmod /system/lib/modules/psfreedom.ko
This method supports peek and poke and can be run with the phone on, however, it will disable usb mass storage, and wifi. To fix this, just flash back to another kernel like incrediblek's or ziggys. This code will need to be entered again if your phone reboots.
me too, would love to see this!
Yes a inc port will be awesome.

He tried 1 test build of the old psfmod. He rewrote the entire thing for this version. I really dont see the problem considering it has almost the exact hardware as the evo and both run clockwork. Am i missing something?
but, a 3.50 Jailbreak would be nice lol.
Im trying to get a service mod going, but i cant compile psfreedom.ko and if i do i get exec_format_error trying to run it. Im running a modded psfreedom kernel btw. Anyone think they can properly compile it? Or is it unlikely to work?
Is this different than Adrynalyne's psfreedom kernel? I'm just curious really, I never plan on owning a ps3.

Adrynaline lost his source for the original PSFreedom kernel. What he has up there is incomplete and cannot be duplicated as the original kernel. Do you see a pattern here? Im not trying to be mean, but seriously, there are better ways to spend your time.

The worst? Who knows?
Sure, you could set up a VNC server under the Ubuntu and then run VNC from either your device (Android) or from an external client. That's what the linked method is doing, so there's nothing inherently better about it.

Have you seen my post on getting Debian running on the Atrix? Debian and Ubuntu are kind of similar IMO, and can run the same applications. To get it go here:

Thank you so much that is what I wanted.
Yea I use debian on my laptop and Ubuntu on my desktop.
Glad to see I helped But the question is did it work? I know a LOT of people were having trouble with it. I did it fine with no problems, I hope it went the same way for you.
I'm working on getting a vanilla copy of Debian running on the device. So far everything works except X, which can't detect a properly configured device. Will post if I have any success with it.

I had a Touchpad for a while.. WebOS was nice... was always missing too many need applications to be able to use it all the time, but I truly did enjoy it.
Well, apparently there's a Dalvik emulator coming out soon - so Android apps will appear, just like on Blackberry Playbook.
Besides, I really like how webOS is closer to proper Linux - to the point where people can run distros as cards.
Thank god it's not just me wanting this, fingers crossed the team behind the nexus port releases their methods and findings soon.
I've been lurking around this since I heard the news of open webOS, well this and native Linux .

Well, that'll take a lot of work - pretty much the only similarity between Android and webOS is the Linux kernel.
However apparently there is some sort of an emulator in development.

I'd throw in some money for a daily driver port (aka working wifi and gpu acceleration).
I want a port for the Nexus One, G2X, and Nexus 7, maybe the G1 or even then Archos 5 7th generation. If I had free time I would give it a try. It would be my first time but they posted the sources and some basic instructions, so I just have to look around for what I need to change to specific devices.

It probably will be incredibly difficult for any pre-2011 phone.
Please focus on Nexus 7 first.
Im sure it wont be long before we see it on the N7, I am no wiz when it comes to this but I would assume that if it is possible to get it working on the Nexus then it shouldnt be to much more of an effort to get it going on the N7 being in the Nexus family and all.
