I'm about to receive my 4th HTC one:
#1 - lasted less than a week before I returned it. Wiggling a headphone plug in the headphone jack caused all kinds of weirdness. AT&T replaced it.
#2 - lasted about 6-7 months. Unplugged it one morning and it went totally dead. No charge light would come on when plugged in. AT&T replaced it.
#3 - lasted less than one month. Pulled it out of my pocket while (ironically) in an AT&T store and it was a brick like #2. 5 minutes before it was working. It was charged that morning using the original HTC adapter & cable. AT&T is mailing a replacement (#4).
All had bootloader unlocked. #2 was also SIM unlocked and S-OFF. All were running (different) custom ROMs. All were in cases and had no physical or water damage (not even scratches).
Any idea what could cause this hard brick where the charge indicator doesn't even come on? Any ideas to rescue it?
Thanks!

What you need is a sacrifice. You should bathe yout phone in virgins blood than let it dry for three days and three nights. Finally you must say 20 times loudly "this phone is not gonna break without reason", while doing a ritual dance. Hope it helps
Yeah. How helpfull... Please tell me how an S-on device can be bricked when everything is stable. This didn't happen after a ROM flash or any similar activity. Phone goes from just fine to dead without any specific action.

Stop messing with your phone. You clearly have no idea what you're doing.

Really strange problem. Some ideas:
- Was it always the same adapter/cable or was that one replaced, too? If it was the same, maybe it is somehow broken and eventually kills your phones.
- If you use custom ROMs, did you maybe changed some low level settings (voltage? CPU frequencies?)
Cheers, Curly060 =;->
Curly060 - same adapter, but I use other adapters and cables as well (office, car, etc.). Custom rom was Maximus 30.0. No under/over clocking or volting.
My guess is that one of my power adapters is out of spec. I use a non-HTC adapter where it generally charges overnight.
I'll replace them all.

Maybe you should go for original ac adapters this time...
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Well, looks like I was on the right track then.
Yes, please replace them and see if that helps!

Hiya,
I was out travelling, with my Kaiser and my three batteries - unexpectedly two of them died in humid weather, and I thought the phone had died totally too. It refused to boot up even when plugged in, or it got into a strange reboot loop.
Now back home, one battery is working as it should, but the other two are totally dead - but they seem to charge ok (in my external charger).
Has anyone seen this? Is there any point in trying to revive these battery?
Next step: check with a voltmeter if they respond, and also clean the terminals...

Are the batteries older than a year?
They are about a year old... Maybe less than that, and I have rotated between them fairly well, but they have been travelling around in my messenger bag when not in use (and there is a lot of other junk in there...)

Good idea if they've been floating around in a messy storage bag. Lithium Ion batteries come with built in protection circuitry so if, for example, a staple has shorted between the terminals then the diagnosis for the battery will probably be terminal. Cleaning them with contact cleaner or IPA and testing them in a known good phone is about the best thing you can do in an attempt to 'revive' them. Good luck.
Try connecting all of the batteries together inline, then attach them to a bit of this cable and then attach that to a kite. You'll need to wait for a thunderstorm to fly the kite but with any luck, lighting shall strike the kite, thus recharging the batteries.

I just cleaned the terminals of the batteries with a dry q-tip, and that did it, back to life, and working ok! (they have seen quite intensive usage, so they are not 100%, but now they work as they did before)
Hello Friends and greetings to all,
I used to have for my previous HTCs an independent cradle battery charger where I would place a battery in the morning and replace it the evening with the one in my device.
Hence I never suffered from powerlack.
Did you see in your surfing a new device for HTC HD2?
Thank you and have a nice holiday season.
I always switched batteries. I agree, it's the most comfortable recharging practice.
Anyway, I found a craddle/bat. charger here.

Can't agree more with you my friend, takes 3 minutes to do the whole operation, whereas with a broader battery, the spirit itself of your purchasing goal goes astray.
Thanks for your link, I will go for it.

to give your HD2 a nice tan
Are there any issues with using non HTC produts? I've used non official products in the past and always had problems, ie they stop working after a while.
Has anyone actually got one? Is it any good?
cradle
I had 1 for my hd, loved it. So got 1 for hd2. Saw 1 with 3.5mm headphone jack, super for listening to tunes,& charging. But, Didn't realize that unless plugged into external speakers when charging ,say at nite, you won't hear phone ring, or message alerts? So, I just plug into reg. charger,so I can hear ring, its my only phone. Might be getting reg.1?
Edit; it does still work to charge spare battery.
Just had thought? If I take out the 3.5 male plug, it will work like I need it too! Right?
Today I got from a big Pc store a generic charger which has two inputs car/home and two outputs usb 1000 mA and 500 mA.
Connected the IS and in all my years I've never seen something like that. Phone charges but touch screen is not responding while connected to that charger. Tried both outputs, different outlet in the house, even another charger with one usb at 500 mA. Only with that charger I bought today the problem exists. As soon as I disconnect it the screen works again..
Any ideas?

yes thought of the data pins too but (I opened it) they're so tight soldered to the board that was difficult to do anything.. anyway.. I'll probably try to return it.
FYI all of you since these chargers are Chinese and pretty widespread look like that (nevermind the label)

Hi, anyone using the AC Adapter Model KY-738 before? The adapter is as per picture below:

When I charged using this adapter, I would able to "wake up" the phone by pressing power button. However, the screen wont have any response when I touch it. When I unplugged the phone, the screen will response already. Anyone any idea why this happened?
Bad quality adapter it is very common problem with responsibility of touch screen while charging. Use a stock charger
Best wishes,

+1 its probably the cheap charger
If you use a higher quality one like the HTC one, you might not have the same problem

Have a try with the real one to see if its a hardware issue with your phone before throwing it out
Then buy a proper one, with some things on eBay you get what you pay for unfortunately

Hi Guys,
I am happy owner of the MI8 right from the Beginning. I have always been a big fan of Xiaomi.
Now I had the problem, that my original USB C Charge Port Flex was so messed up from dirt and stuff that I replaced it with a one I bought at Ebay.
The changing did work well. But after setting the phone back up again, the charging speed now only allows 490mA which is really slow and takes forever to load! Biggest problem: I cannot use it as Nav and charge because of negative charging balance. I then bought another Charging Port from Ebay, thinking maybe the first one was broken. Unfortunately same problem occured after putting that one in. Only exactly 490mA.
The thing is, that those replacement pieces only have a serial number/code printed on. No MI logo or anything like the original one. Is it possible that these are low quality and cannot work properly?
How can I fix this issue? Is there a driver issue or anything with those replacement parts?

I think it might be useful to flash in a custom kernel, it doesn't sound like a problem with your charger.
I also encountered the same problem as you in July last year. I solved it by re-flashing the MIUI official ROM in fastboot.you can try it
Hey, same problem here. Yesterday I changed the charger module. All looked good at the beginning but now I realize that it does not connect to Android Auto or to any computer and the charging speed is slow as well...
Did you manage to solve the problem? Did you try to reinstall?
Thanks!
