I need a little help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. Running on this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442024 version 20131114. I have link2sd installed and working in my phone.
Recently when I tried updating my hangouts, it wouldn't. Instead it showed me insufficient storage. I cleared the cache of all apps and hangouts data to create some more space. After all that I have managed to get a free space of about 40MB. The hangout update is only 13MB. But I'm still getting the same error while installing hangouts. After that I tried uninstalling hangouts and then install it again. It still didn't work.
Can anyone please help me with this?

I now found that I still have the problem. This time wiping cache from recovery menu didn't help. Finally I had to uninstall two other apps to install a new one. Can anybody help me?
This time I tried installing whatsapp(12MB) in my phone when I had about 40MB free internal memory. It would download from play store fine. But then while installing, it is showing "insufficient memory" error. Then I had to uninstall a game and another app(TrueCaller) to install whatsapp.
Any help would be much appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

Internal data partition is used by dalvik-cache and the installed apps, so try to wipe dalvik-cache partition, use Titanium Backup or CWM to do this

Today when i was planning to reinstall Flash because i want to watch FIFA, i found out that i can't install it. it tells me " Sorry, there's not enough space to install this item." So i went off and uninstall a few apps. Now i have 33.32 MB of available space in my internal phone storage, still i cannot install any app. not even tiny update. I tried to do a recovery but it didn't help. Does anyone know what's wrong with my phone? Thank you in advance!
P.s. i have froyo
Yeah, you need to clear more space. Remember to clear your unwanted cache, especially your browser cache.
Have you tried rebooting yet? Could be as simple as that. Were you trying to update it? Or install from scratch? Try uninstall and reinstall instead of updating. If youre on custom Froyo ROM and had enabled aps2sd, try aps to internal mem.

It did this to me. I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it and it worked.
Thanks for all your responses. However, i don't think its just a specific app, i tried to download any new apps, and it still says there no space. In addition, i tried to take pictures using the stock camera app. And then it tells me that i don't have space in my SD card either!!! i have 3.69gb left in my SD card!
p.s. i don't have apps2sd
I'm having troubles with Market on latest CM7 Nightlys
Market is FC everytime when i'm trying to install/update an app
I've re-installed gapps, no help
I've cleared up cache/data for Market, no help
Tried re-flash latest [ROM][NIGHTLYS][05/06/2011] CyanogenMod 7 for Galaxy S (Gingerbread 2.3.4), no help
I've noticed that selected app is downloaded successfully but when it should start installation, it will FC (there is over 1.5GB of free space on internal memory partition)
So basically, i can't do nothing.. I'm trying to avoid factory reset to my SGS, i did that just two builds ago
Help is appreciated.
Regards,
Stan
Clear the cache/data from Google Services Framework in Applications > Manage Applications > All as well, and see if that helps.

36.79MB used, 135.21MB free, r/w
Tried nandroid backup, factory reset, all works.. but I restored my backup, there is plenty of things to set-up etc.. and I'm in no mood to play with it
partition
I still didn't fix the problem, do anybody knows what other than WIPE can I do?
However, i find a workaround myself..
There is a partition /cache where all your market downloads are stored. I can find those apps (i've tried to download/install) stored here (multiple times) so I simple clicked on it and installed it. Works!
BTW, This partition is only 50MB and i had only like 5MB free space left. Removed half of this cache using Root Explorer but the market problem still isn't fixed.
Devs, how is it? What happen if this partition gets fully?

try to install the google apps update.zip again and clear the dalvic cache from CWM. I had the same issue and mine got solved by this. Also, as others pointed out, clear the market cache.
Hi guys,
You may have heard of this problem, my phone won't accept manual app installation from .apk files. The problem = not enough memory; this is quite ridiculous since i still have ard 1.5+ GB for my app memory partition in the internal SD.
I searched for solutions in the internet + forum and found nothing to my benefit. I tried clearing cache from recovery, clearing google apps cache, removing the original google play with some cracked one and it still won't work.
Anyone of you guys have any idea to deal with this problem? Thanks

Hey ppl. I'm getting an "error insufficient memory" problem while trying to update whatsapp. I've already cleared the cache for google play and whatsapp but still it shows up. I installed another app which was 4 MB and that installed fine. So what should i do? The whatsapp update is 9.3 MB and i have 35 MB free on internal memory. Using PAC ROM.

Extrat the .apk and install it Whatsapp 2.10.361
Oh ok thx. Another problem. I cleared cache & data for google play and google play services. Then I was trying to install doodle jump(20 mb) i still had loads of space. It finished the download and said storage is limited and then "invalid package file" so it didn't download it. I never had this problem before. Is it because of the ROM? I'm using Link2SD also.

well, I guess the problem might be caused by Link2sd, you need to check and to manage correctly the app and your sd-ext partition even the apps you have moved to the sd-ext partition, be careful with the apps you move, some of them need to stay in system partition in order to work properly
my advice?? Don't use sd-ext partition to avoid problems, I'm sure you don't use all your installed apps, so you can try to delete this useless app or install it, use it and do backup with TB and uninstall it, when you need it again use TB to restore the app and data anyway you can continue using your sd-ext partition cofiguring the manager apps correctly, (If I were you I'd use int2ext script, it's the best way to increase your memory without troubles and chaotic configurations )
Hi
I have the galaxy S3 Mini i8190 smartphone, lately, whenever I try to update applications I get an error insufficient storage available, I used a guide I found here on XDA to use my 32GB SD card instead of the internal storage and have been working like it for a long time without a problem, there's still over 9GB free space and on every app above 10MB I get this error, I tried cleaning the cache for all apps, even wiping the cache partition using CWM recovery, removing not needed apps, cleaning junk files, basically every suggestion I could find, nothing seems to work.
So far the problem is limited to updating apps, I have no problem installing new apps, there are no specific apps the problem occur with.
Please advise on what else can be done
Thank you.

Well, some time ago I couldn't install or update apps, because of your problem. I fixed it like this -->
1. Make a nandroid backup through CWM
2. Enter recovery and wipe : data , cache and dalvik cache (in advanced)
3. Now restore your nandroid backup
4. Reboot and everything should work as normal
PS If the above doesn't work consider flashing a completely stock firmware from www.sammobile.com

Well, thanks, but I think I managed to solve the problem last night by myself thanks to some suggestions I found on another forum somewhere.
All I did was run the following command in the app terminal emulator:
su
and after that:
set-install-location 0
tried updating the apps that I couldn't update and it updated just fine, hopefully it won't happen again, I wonder what changed that setting in the first place.
