[Q] error insufficient memory? - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey ppl. I'm getting an "error insufficient memory" problem while trying to update whatsapp. I've already cleared the cache for google play and whatsapp but still it shows up. I installed another app which was 4 MB and that installed fine. So what should i do? The whatsapp update is 9.3 MB and i have 35 MB free on internal memory. Using PAC ROM.

Extrat the .apk and install it Whatsapp 2.10.361

Oh ok thx. Another problem. I cleared cache & data for google play and google play services. Then I was trying to install doodle jump(20 mb) i still had loads of space. It finished the download and said storage is limited and then "invalid package file" so it didn't download it. I never had this problem before. Is it because of the ROM? I'm using Link2SD also.

well, I guess the problem might be caused by Link2sd, you need to check and to manage correctly the app and your sd-ext partition even the apps you have moved to the sd-ext partition, be careful with the apps you move, some of them need to stay in system partition in order to work properly
my advice?? Don't use sd-ext partition to avoid problems, I'm sure you don't use all your installed apps, so you can try to delete this useless app or install it, use it and do backup with TB and uninstall it, when you need it again use TB to restore the app and data anyway you can continue using your sd-ext partition cofiguring the manager apps correctly, (If I were you I'd use int2ext script, it's the best way to increase your memory without troubles and chaotic configurations )

Installation error Insufficient storage available

Is anyone else having issues with Market on the ADP 1.51 (CRB43) builds?
When I attempted to download an update to an existing app (GV) it downloads but when it tried to install "Installation error Insufficient storage available"
I have apps2sd and I've removed the stock ringtones from the build giving me only 89% of used space in /system directory and I have about 600mb free on my ext2 partition. Insufficient storage my a$$!
Anyone else have issues with this "Insufficient storage" error?
Do you have the cache etc all running off the SD? Apps is only one step, where it installs the apps to the SD. However unless the cache and so is moved, its like having firefox installed on one drive, but storing your browsing stuff on your main drive still. So youll run out of room unless its all on the SD.

Yeah. Cache is also on SD. Just to be certain, I cleared the cache. Same issue.
I'm assuming your using the app to put things on the sd. I used lucids script to do it to mine. I wonder if something did not get linked over. Tried using a file manager to see what's on the internal?

After clearing the cache and discovering that it didn't work (just for the heck of it I also cleared the cache directory on SD) I tried a wipe and everything downloads again. I fastboot flash my data.img and I'm back to the same issues. Not sure what the problem is but I'm considering a wipe. I already backed everything up by backup pro. I just loathing the fact that Market will loose all the apps that I had installed already (they will all say FREE instead of INSTALLED or UPDATE AVAILABLE). Is there a file for market that marks what has been downloaded/installed?
The tip Id recommend. Try Lucids script for moving the data and cache before doing anything. Since if your ready to wipe, cant hurt to try and see if it does it.
Next do the pre tip I did personally. I used atrackdog, Hit menu and do export, it saves to a .txt file. Open that file and you will know which apps YOU had on there vs everything in the my downloads.
I wish I could help more as far as cache and why its not working fully. Ive had my share of struggles and always lucked out.. which is why I hope the 1st option works for you.

Here is the answer!! i have the same problem, i tried to get out the sd card, and it worked(app installs succcesfully)!!
THE PROBLEM IS: EXT2 PARTITION (android do that.. wrong) the ext partition was causing the problem in the installation
1. download minitool partition wizard(or use a working partition tool)!
2. in recovery(volume down and boot phone into recovery) a, go into usb mode(mount and storage/usb mode) (if you have old recovery, download the 4.0...... i cant remember but the newest what you can find)
you have seen 2 partition and its crap!
3. creat 1 partition FAT32 PRIMARY! and format the SD card! (with all storage) this is all you need on your droid!!!(and your music, pictures and apps too)
4. after that, take rom on the SD and install it.
AND APP INSTALLATIoN WORKS!
Not the same phone but for what it's worth this does not appear to be hardware specific. This problem for me was caused by the Google app sync. As soon as it got too many apps in the install queue, it breaks and thinks the drive is full. I was able to fix it by going into recovery and clearing the cache again on my LG P999.

[Q] Market on CM7

I'm having troubles with Market on latest CM7 Nightlys
Market is FC everytime when i'm trying to install/update an app
I've re-installed gapps, no help
I've cleared up cache/data for Market, no help
Tried re-flash latest [ROM][NIGHTLYS][05/06/2011] CyanogenMod 7 for Galaxy S (Gingerbread 2.3.4), no help
I've noticed that selected app is downloaded successfully but when it should start installation, it will FC (there is over 1.5GB of free space on internal memory partition)
So basically, i can't do nothing.. I'm trying to avoid factory reset to my SGS, i did that just two builds ago
Help is appreciated.
Regards,
Stan
Clear the cache/data from Google Services Framework in Applications > Manage Applications > All as well, and see if that helps.

36.79MB used, 135.21MB free, r/w
Tried nandroid backup, factory reset, all works.. but I restored my backup, there is plenty of things to set-up etc.. and I'm in no mood to play with it
partition
I still didn't fix the problem, do anybody knows what other than WIPE can I do?
However, i find a workaround myself..
There is a partition /cache where all your market downloads are stored. I can find those apps (i've tried to download/install) stored here (multiple times) so I simple clicked on it and installed it. Works!
BTW, This partition is only 50MB and i had only like 5MB free space left. Removed half of this cache using Root Explorer but the market problem still isn't fixed.
Devs, how is it? What happen if this partition gets fully?

[Q] Application Installation Problem

I need a little help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. Running on this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442024 version 20131114. I have link2sd installed and working in my phone.
Recently when I tried updating my hangouts, it wouldn't. Instead it showed me insufficient storage. I cleared the cache of all apps and hangouts data to create some more space. After all that I have managed to get a free space of about 40MB. The hangout update is only 13MB. But I'm still getting the same error while installing hangouts. After that I tried uninstalling hangouts and then install it again. It still didn't work.
Can anyone please help me with this?

I now found that I still have the problem. This time wiping cache from recovery menu didn't help. Finally I had to uninstall two other apps to install a new one. Can anybody help me?
This time I tried installing whatsapp(12MB) in my phone when I had about 40MB free internal memory. It would download from play store fine. But then while installing, it is showing "insufficient memory" error. Then I had to uninstall a game and another app(TrueCaller) to install whatsapp.
Any help would be much appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

Internal data partition is used by dalvik-cache and the installed apps, so try to wipe dalvik-cache partition, use Titanium Backup or CWM to do this
