Nokia Luma 520 Network Unlock - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have a Nokia Lumia 520 locked on the orange network. Is there any possible way to get this phone unlocked to use it on any network?
Don't mind if have to flash with new rom etc.
Thanks in advance
Crampo

Ask the carrier or ask Nokia, or buy an unlock from somebody. To the best of my knowledge there is no pure software/firmware fix right now. These days, there usually isn't; the SIM lock is implemented separately from the rest of the device firmware.

[Q] Nokia Lumia 810

hello, I wanted to ask if anyone knows any method to unlock lumia 810 (sim unlock)
Depends who it's locked to, but the usual approach is just call up the operator to which your phone is locked (or check their website) and get an unlock code...
Unlocking Nokia Lumia 810 is turning out be a nightmare. Tried bunch of unlocking sites. No luck so far. Only possible solution seems to be asking T-Mobile support to provide it, though highly unlikely as I am not their customer. IMEI is clean, so it wouldn't hurt to try.

[Q] Forcing Lumia 520 Updates

Morning all.
I bought a SIM Free Nokia Lumia 520 from Amazon the other day, and found out that its running Windows Phone 8.0.10211.204, which is not the GDR2 update. GDR2 is available for the 520, but its not approved by Vodafone (my network) here in Ireland yet (marked as coming soon on here => http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-europe/). Anyway, since this is a SIM free phone and its unlocked to all networks, can i force it to update? I mean, why does my carrier have a say in my phone if its unlocked?
Thanks.
you can try flash with this (but this delete all from phone, dont forget backup)

Do you mean
unlock=root or
unlock=boot loader or
unlock=phone from a specific carrier?
He said network unlocking.I think he means unlock phone from specific carrier.
The last one unlock=phone from a specific carrier and the carrier is EE uk !
Can you post a screen what are the values for your SIM LOCK?
in the phone dialer enter *#*#7378423#*#* (SERVICE)
Enter Service info > SIM Lock
Network is 5 so is not blocked , the unlock counter is not 0 !
I've been reading up a little on this, and found out that there not so many tools to force unlock the phone without an unlock code.
Also reports of using tools for HTC/Samsung (could not find any Sony related) not correctly (or sometimes correctly) resulted in a HARD bricked device.
So I suggest to get that unlock code, so you'll be on the safe side.
Yes I'm asking what is the best site to buy the unlock code ???
Which is the most used by the xda developers users ......?
I never used it, hence I always buying already unlocked phones.
My friend used this site to unlock his T-mobile GS4 and it worked.
Ok thanks , unfortunately I've used another site ... hope is ok , I will let you know.
Today I got the unlock code , all worked 100%.

Is there a way to remove simlock from 1320

Hey guys, recently I brought used Lumia 1320 from the US, it was originally locked to Cricket but when I got it it was unlocked. There was a bunch of crap on it so I just did factory reset and updated it to 8.1. After I finished playing with it I put the sim card in and it asked me for unlock code... So apparently factory reset locked it back to Cricket I asked them if they could give me the unlock code (again) but they need some info that came with the phone like account information or phone number and I don't have that and prob never will. So my question to you guys is there a way to remove simlock from the device? I come from Android and there it usually comes down to rooting the device, is it possible here as well?
is only two way to SIM unlock phone:
- carrier unlock
- or purchase unlock code from web (try here)
hard (factory) reset cant lock your phone. is possible your phone was locked from start but you not notice that
It was unlocked because it had a sim card inside from the same carrier I'm using and my friend was using it just fine. Idk what locked it, I did factory reset and then upgrade it to the newest version and it doesn't work anymore, asks for unlock code.
The price on these sites is a joke its more than half the phone's worth, I hope simlocks get banned by law and these thieves find a real job.
i make hard reset many times (maybe more than 20x on one phone because tests) and never lost SIM unlock...
if you want sim lock free phone next time buy phone from retail, not from operator... operator have rights to lock phone to prevent people to get cheaper phone and resale it, but must give free unlock service to customer... if you lost proof of purchase (or buy phone without), your problem...
