Hashcode started one here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168221 for the 8.9" but it seems to have stalled. Given the fact he has so many irons in the fire it has not gone past the alpha phase.

Hi just wanted to see if any Deva are still trying to compile Ubuntu for out device as I found this post in the nexus s development section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38393990
and since it is nearly identical hardware in both phones I wondered
1) is any one still working on this
2) what's the worst that could happen if I flash it to my i9000 as I have used ROMs which cause my PC to recognise my phone as a nexus s in the past
Thanks for your time

Is it really official for the RAZR HD? If so then we should be able to just flash it on our phone without any modifications except a couple to the build.prop to get it to work with AT&T.

That is pretty cool. I used Ubuntu several years ago and enjoyed it. This would be really handy.
In the spirit of my fresh Linux install, I thought I could open up a place for discussion of the world's most popular consumer Linux distro. Ask and answer Qs, talk about your build, suggest packages, and discuss development.

What you want to do is split your C: by partitioning half (or more or less) to Windows and the rest to Ubuntu

I suggest you partition during the Ubuntu install to ensure the proper amount of allocation. So just boot up the DVD, say install to C:, and partition like I mentioned above.

Make sure you have the Intel Version/Generic Version of Ubuntu with the Correct Intel/Generic Processor, and use Ubuntu AMD64 for AMD 64-bit Computers to avoid problems.

You only start out with 12.6GB of usable storage in the first place. Once flashed you can remove CM zip. Use Clean Master to clean your tablet up. Sounds like you have the proper storage.
