Hi guys, once I've bought my Rogers Moto X , I've rooted my with PwnMyMoto 1.4.3 or Root Version 1.1 ( I couldn't recall which one), and USB OTG was working perfectly.
I then foolishly updated the OTA and then rooted my phone with Rockmymoto to gain access to Root/Write Protection Bypass.
So now my phone is Rooted successfully and got Xposed to work, but USB OTG doesn't work anymore. (I've tried different OTG cables and drives)
I have tried to fix this by using USB Host Diagnostics app results are attached.
I am wonder if anyone have experienced this or know what I am doing wrong.
And as a last resort, can I use RSDlite to flash the stock Rogers firmware even after my camera OTA update?
Any help is much appreciated!:good:
I have the same problem, but it is not the root fault in my case, it's the kitkat OTA update that broke the OTG support. You can see more about this bug googling:

I am still running on 4.2.2 though.. and the latter two links aren't clickable.
I am wondering if I can go back to stock safely (before camera OTA).
I didn't root with rockmymoto. I unlocked the bootloader on my Tmo X and flashed TWRP and Supersu to root. I have the 4.4 update and using Stickmount I have full access to OTGusb with flash drives, sd and microsd cards, and my external hd. Maybe something glitchy in the root method for rockmymoto?

I don't see others complain about not able to use the USB OTG after rooting their phones with Rockmymoto, so I'm unsure what I messed up.

I've just bought an OTG cable, and I realize that it's not working in 4.4. I know that some apps can "fix" this for data access, but I still can't use my Xbox 360 controller, mouse, keyboard, HDMI, etc. So, I'm wondering if someone is working in a fix (even Motorola), or we've lost the OTG support forever.

I have 4.4 and have no issues using otg cable. I've used mice, keyboards and flash drives ( mount with stickmount ) . did u try the cable in another device to rule out cable problems ?

I don't have another device to try, but I tried to use the OTG cable to supply energy, and it worked. Sitickmount didn't work for me. You're luck, many of us lost the OTG functionality after KitKat:

I can't help but think either your otg cable is not up to spec or stickmount needs to be allowed root access. Check your supersu to make sure stickmount is included. Otherwise, try another cable. OTG definitely works with 4.4 and stickmount on a rooted device.
Stickmount definitely works on the stock 4.4 rom. I tried it earlier today and it worked exactly as it should.

Root access is ok, but I realized that my cable is not working after testing with a Moto G and Galaxy S3. I will try to buy a new one and try again...
EDIT: I bought a new OTG cable, and it worked with Stickmount!
Ok so heres the situation. I was running a Stock custom rom but was on 4.4 and was getting constant update notifications. so i decided to installed the updated 4.4.2 version of my custom rom. BTW my phone is a verizon locked bootloader phone. anyways i tried the workaround for retail phones and i ended up totally screwing my phone up. everything is wiped and i cant get anywhere but the fastboot screen. I have tried the Moto X toolbox but that fails and so does every other script i have tried. I thought that this would be my saving grace http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...ty-windows-t2597625/post49119224#post49119224. but it looks like there server host is down so i cant download it. I have tried everything on both a Windows 8 with USB 3.0 and a Windows 7 with USB 2.0. both failed. My device only shows up at Fastboot ghost S in devices, i downloaded the PDAnet drivers but that didnt help. I can see the Fastboot in RSDlite though but the flash fails everytime. I keep getting "Partition (Boot) security version downgraded" and yes im using stock Verizon Roms.

If you can get into Fastboot and RSDlite you should be able to install the 4.4.2 Verizon files from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
I figured it out, my problem was that i was trying to flash 4.4 and not 4.4.2. got it unbricked but now it looks like i lost my root and my safestrap... :/

Yes, if you used RSDLite to flash you will loose root, etc.
But taking the OTA 4.4.2, you could have kept root, BUT would have lost write protect disable making root pretty useless (since any changes to /system or other protected folders would not survive power off/on)
recently got a VS 980 running 4.2. 2 with build number ending in 39 B software version 10 B, most everything I found here is for 4. 4.2. just want to make sure I do all the steps correctly, should I accept updates then root?is towel root an option? I saw it doesn't work on 4.4.2, but could be loaded directly to the device and routed straight from the device?
I think I also read you have to separately add recovery to the device after rooting?

You can still use ioroot to root 4.2.2, I don't know if towelroot works on it. You'll need to flash TWRP via fastboot if you need a recovery afterwards.
for what it's worth everything worked fine with towel route it appears was able to root straight from the device and not have to hook up to a PC,
now I need to find the right way to install recovery for this version?
what apps are safe to remove I would like to get rid of all the Verizon ones?
and any ideas on what to do with OTA updates as I believe I saw lollipop should be coming to this device in March and I am NOT even on 4.4 yet?
Hello everyone
I have now finally been able to root my beautiful Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. The bootloader is still locked. I did downgrade the Firmware in order to root the phone. Afterwards I made a backup of the DRM Keys via TA Backup. Additionally I updated the Firmware to 23.0.1.A.5.77. As the bootloader is still locked I did not install any kind of custom ROM and I am yet not planning to do so. The Sony ROM will probably do a good job. (My old phone is a Sony Xperia P which is now running with Root Sony's ROM since 3 years at least)
I am running on KitKat 4.4 and also not planning to change. I have a 64GB SD card in my phone as well.
Now my question:
Can I still use the encryption function or will this interfere or make problems because I have root (Bootloop)?
I am not planning to encrypt the SD card because I do not need encryption on the SD card but encryption for the Android System would be nice.
Thanks for your help guys :good:
Best wishes,
Dicey
No idea guys? Did no one ever try this before?

I'd like to know this as well.
I tried this today. Left it encrypting and when I came back it said encryption had been interrupted and it then did a factory reset, after which I was unable to enter custom recovery.. As I had chosen to encrypt the SD I was left with an empty SD card too.
Somehow I kept root so I was able to install XZDualRecovery again and then restore from nandroid backup.
There's a thread on androidforums where Samsung owners have reported success with temporarily disabling SuperSU while running the encryption.

Anyone tried this method or found another way to achieve root + encryption? It's the only thing keeping me from rooting again.
I got this phone today and it did an OTA update. I'm now on 5.1.1. Is it possible to root this phone? I'm don't think Kingroot will work and not sure I want to use it anyway.

If you root you won't be able to install updates anymore
You can root with Droid tool or King root 4.0
If you know how to, do a 100% backup with SP Flash tool
Before you try anything.
Thanks. I read on the Kingroot thread that its not working on 5.1.1. I'm a superuser kinda guy anyway, and not sure I want to use Kingroot. I'll google Droid tool to see how it works.

I can confirm kingroot works.
infinix hot 2 5.1.1
I have the same problem with the same device and king root keeps failing any idea what I'm doing wrong? I've tried the OTA and pc versions.
The update with the November security patch can't be rooted for now. I have tried all rooting softwares I know of (apks & PC) and none worked. perhaps a little more patience?
if you wish to root,
flash twrp
flash superuser zip
I'm presently rooted on 11-03 build
