I've just bought an OTG cable, and I realize that it's not working in 4.4. I know that some apps can "fix" this for data access, but I still can't use my Xbox 360 controller, mouse, keyboard, HDMI, etc. So, I'm wondering if someone is working in a fix (even Motorola), or we've lost the OTG support forever.

I have 4.4 and have no issues using otg cable. I've used mice, keyboards and flash drives ( mount with stickmount ) . did u try the cable in another device to rule out cable problems ?

I don't have another device to try, but I tried to use the OTG cable to supply energy, and it worked. Sitickmount didn't work for me. You're luck, many of us lost the OTG functionality after KitKat:

I gained root with an unlocked bootloader, TWRP and Supersu. I have 4.4 and OTG works perfectly for me with Stickmount (requires root.)

I did the same thing, but I lost the OTG support.

I can't help but think either your otg cable is not up to spec or stickmount needs to be allowed root access. Check your supersu to make sure stickmount is included. Otherwise, try another cable. OTG definitely works with 4.4 and stickmount on a rooted device.
Stickmount definitely works on the stock 4.4 rom. I tried it earlier today and it worked exactly as it should.

Root access is ok, but I realized that my cable is not working after testing with a Moto G and Galaxy S3. I will try to buy a new one and try again...
EDIT: I bought a new OTG cable, and it worked with Stickmount!

Hi Everybody,
So today I tried on my Nexus7 this tutorial from efrant on how to root the Galaxy Nexus phone without unlocking the bootloader (and thus without wiping data), after a successful report on a French blog.
Even though I had a little bit of trouble (I should have rebooted my computer after installing ADB drivers), everything went flawlessly. I now have a rooted N7, with a 720p camera and automatic rotation of the home screen, and I didn't even have to spend hours backing-up and restoring my apps and data!
This present post is just a heads up to confirm it works like a charm on the Nexus7. And if you have any question related to the trick, please use the thread on the GN page, as this is where the author efrant posted it initially.

Cheers bud, was looking for something like this yesterday ! Can't be bothered to re-configure my N7 etc after rooting, and didn't want to lose data.
Thanks for the heads up and will be doing this later.
So this was easy and painless, and worked on the N7?
Fully rooted? without unlocked bootloader?

Just completed this using Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit and a fully updated UK Nexus 7. No issues - my experience was exactly as described in the howto/guide, step by step. I guess on Windows you'll need ADB drives for the Nexus? Anyway, it was a copy/paste exercise on Ubuntu and "painless" describes it perfectly.
Titanium Backup Root is running a full back up right now. In fact, it's just finished and now it's uploading to Google Drive.
Thanks for the link - superb.

Yup, painless, no wipe needed. Just install the proper adb drivers if you're on Windows. Also, I had to set my usb connection to ptp instead of mtp in the N7 settings. As I was saying, I am now fully rooted (checked with the Root Checker app) and was able to perform various mods needing root (tablet UI, homescreen rotation etc)

Great, only reason I really want root is StickMount.
Perhaps Tablet UI and rotation also .
But yeah, will be doing this tonight (hopefully), CHEERS !
I tried it yesterday and it went flawlessly
Just read the whole post first then follow the instructions precisely and boom you are rooted

No issues after reboot or anything? I'm gonna have to check that out.

Not trying to be a smart ass but does nobody read up on devices anymore, i read if would be wiped so i rooted before i set it up first time, instead of installing everything, it amazes me....
Cool link though maybe you should do a full copy and paste of the post and just mention them to give them credit and get it in the dev sections. This will come in handy for a few people. Good find

Hello all. I have searched and searched and cannot seem to find any solutions. When I connect my KFHD to HDMI and run it to my Toshiba television, the xfinity tv player app tells me to "disconnect from secondary output" to continue viewing the program. I know that xfinity disables the HDMI output and have heard HULU does the same. Is there a tweak, app, or anything similar that will allow the signal to still be sent to my TV?

I am a moron.. I got CM 10.1 flashed.. Will try it out later.
I have a nexus 7 with jelly bean 4.2 and have installed stickmount but when I connect a USB stick and click mount it just says stick mount is bust try again in a few seconds but never gets past this. I do not have root access and think the problem may be linked to that but I cannot work out how to get it.
Any help would be gratefully received
Thanks
Yes, you must be rooted to use stickmount. Try nexus media importer. No root required.
Hi guys, once I've bought my Rogers Moto X , I've rooted my with PwnMyMoto 1.4.3 or Root Version 1.1 ( I couldn't recall which one), and USB OTG was working perfectly.
I then foolishly updated the OTA and then rooted my phone with Rockmymoto to gain access to Root/Write Protection Bypass.
So now my phone is Rooted successfully and got Xposed to work, but USB OTG doesn't work anymore. (I've tried different OTG cables and drives)
I have tried to fix this by using USB Host Diagnostics app results are attached.
I am wonder if anyone have experienced this or know what I am doing wrong.
And as a last resort, can I use RSDlite to flash the stock Rogers firmware even after my camera OTA update?
Any help is much appreciated!:good:
I have the same problem, but it is not the root fault in my case, it's the kitkat OTA update that broke the OTG support. You can see more about this bug googling:

I am still running on 4.2.2 though.. and the latter two links aren't clickable.
I am wondering if I can go back to stock safely (before camera OTA).
I didn't root with rockmymoto. I unlocked the bootloader on my Tmo X and flashed TWRP and Supersu to root. I have the 4.4 update and using Stickmount I have full access to OTGusb with flash drives, sd and microsd cards, and my external hd. Maybe something glitchy in the root method for rockmymoto?

I don't see others complain about not able to use the USB OTG after rooting their phones with Rockmymoto, so I'm unsure what I messed up.
i recently got a z3c in a good condition, but apparrently the Usb port is not working. Is there any way to unlock the bootloader without Usb? or to root it?
Somebody suggested to use ADB over wifi, but the guides i've read require Usb for initial setup. Would it work with the ADB Wifi apk? That requires a rooted device, would you recommend the KingoRoot apk to root it?
But KingoRoot might also be able to unlock the BL, wouldn't that be the easiest way?
I ultimately want to install LOS, like on my zc1 (or maybe try Carbon, as it seems to be a bit more stable).
Thanks for any advice.
