About a month ago my N4 dropped down and broke the back cover glass, so I ordered this one on ebay from a german store (I live in Italy) for a total amount of €.53,90.
It is ready to be assembled onto the phone and includes NFC antenna and (I think) the Bluetooth one.
Today it is been delivered and I've just replaced.
This is a very easy operation, only require a n 4 torx screwdriver and a plastic pad (a guitar pad is optimal).
With only those tools and a little care everyone can replace it.
First unscrew the two screws on the bottom, then carefully insert the plastic pad between the top chrome frame and the plastic one starting from the bottom of the phone having care of the usb port frame, it is very thin and easy to be broken.
Once disassembled pull away the protective plastic protective stickers from the camera glass and the usb port frame and place on the new cover, having care to pair the two parts with your fingers, put back on the two screws, that's it, all done.
Oh, and I higly recommend to protect your N4 with a bumper case or something else.
That's a pretty expensive auction. I've seen full back covers with NFC go for almost half that price.

I've seen them on ebay and amazon for that price...ebay had international shipping, so its location doesn't play any part in price, imo. And afaik, amazon only ships within North America....so yeah, that one would make sense to have a lower price. But like I said, there are ebay sellers who ship internationally for half that price

Even though you don't have your receipt you still should be able to go to the sprint store and have it replaced it.
When I got my Black case from the sprint store the guy told me that He also had a note in my acct. that I was entitled to have a free replacement if anything was wrong with it within a year.
Just got outta the Sprint store and got the black case. Fits tighter than the other one and just had to pay the difference. Plus this one comes with the belt clip.

If it's the HTC branded case, I'm rather shocked you broke it.
I've had mine on and off a few times and that bad boy is really tight. Actually, thinking about it, it may be because it was on so tight you had a hard time removing it and broke it.
You shouldn't have any trouble getting the case swapped out. It's a much better fitting case than the Seidio/Platinum version of the same thing and a good side effect, if you can get the Seidio belt clip it works just fine with this case.
The case was really tight. I knew that goin into it. And I only took it off once and was extremely careful when removing it. Even made a custom tool to get between the phone and the case. Shimmed it on either side of the clips so I wasn't putting any stress on em. Might of just been a bad cover. Got the black one with the faux cabin fiber on the back. Works awesome. Plus it makes the keyboard really stiff and since I use the on-screen keyboard I don't have to worry about the keyboard sliding out on me.

I cant even get the top portion of the blue htc case off its on so tight! anyone have this problem?? lol
That's why I made a little shim to stick between the case and the phone. Way too hard to get apart.

Is this something you left there full time or something more like a once used tool? If you left this there it may have caused just enough stress on the already too tight cover and caused your breakage.
This case was designed to go on, stay on FOREVER. hahahaha
I've only taken the front piece off 2x. Once to put on a screen protector then a week later to remove said crappy feeling screen protector. Other than that, the front piece stays on all the time.
It was just a one time use tool. Had to take the case off to change screen protectors. I made out of 24 gauge steel which is less than .04" thick. The case broke while trying to get it off a second time without the tool when my phone froze and had to pull the battery.

The only OEM accessory specifically designed for the HTC EVO Shift 4G and sold in Sprint corporate retail stores is the leather case. The black 3 piece carbon fiber and plastic cover/holster as well as the 2 piece black/blue and pink/white covers are manufactured by two different third party vendors.
going on 3 1/2 weeks and the case still fits snug
I bought the black/blue case from the Sprint store and mine also broke! The case was SO tight that when I tried replacing the case the corner clip broke off just like the OP! I bought a simple black replacement case on ebay for $5 and its snug as a bug, and comes off easily in case I need to access the battery compartment.
i have the blue black htc branded case i got mine at radioshack for 20 bucks after my foursquare mayors 20% discount and i have to say its perfect now if i could just find a leather case to fit over it
How did you get a foursquare discount?
Is this the case with the texturized back with the HTC logo near the bottom?
If so - it's been holding up fine for me over the past month, even survived a couple of drops to the ground from waste-high.
I have noticed that the slider has become slightly loose - like, it has maybe a millimeter of play in it now. Not sure if that's the because of the case, or because I dropped the phone on the ground twice in the past month.
Does anyone know where I could get a white back cover like the ones they had on the I/O Nexus 7 Devices? Off eBay or Amazon or wherever.
I'm looking for a replacement of the entire back cover, not something to go over it.
Thanks!
Doubt you'll see many third party rear covers, since the stock cover has all the wireless antennas mounted to it.

Nothing is attached to the back cover and it's not particularly complex. I popped mine off with a credit card - it's just a plastic cover, nothing special. Still, I suspect that the market for replacements would be pretty small, but who knows?

You didn't look very hard... it has at least the NFC antenna in it and if I recall other antenna connections as well. Look for the connectors that connect it to the back of the device.
Good lord, I'm a dumbass. You're right. But it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to duplicate the antenna placements. I suspect, though, that there just wouldn't be enough demand.
It's like anything else, replacement parts are a narrow and usually expensive market. A replacement cover with the antennas would probably run double the coat of a regular replacement back. And that's once dealers get a demand big enough to warrant making them at all. -Ara

Hehe well it was worth a shot
I'd love to get it to match my white HTC One X on AT&T but I guess not
thanks anyway!
One option would be to "Paint" the cover. With the correct paint types, it should be easy to do... I've no clue what those proper paint types would be, but it would need to be something that covers well, stays on and doesn't impair the use of all the antennas.
My daughter who makes toys might know. I'll ask her tonight.
Use a vinyl paint such as duplicolor or sem. That's how I painted my gnex and how I plan on painting the n7

My white nexus 7 feels empty on that side, the rest of the tablet feels tight on all the other sides.
I appreciate it!
Hi guys,
Just got my hands on a quite used N1 from my friend, and is thinking of replacing the full housing.
After looking at pictures on eBay and subsequently asking the sellers, I found that many of the housings on sale are fully plastic. I aware that the front frame of the N1 is metal, so I would like to ask you guys if you know anywhere (eBay or elsewhere) that sells the metal housing for a reasonable price?
Cheers

My point was that it is more feasible to replace the device as a whole than open it up and repair it.
OP, a quote from Ifixit: "The display assembly cannot be replaced without removing the rear case—this will make the most common repair, a damaged screen, nearly impossible."
Link to article: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC+One+Teardown/13494/3
Sorry, but I feel like they would fail to fix the screen.
HTC have said the H1 is highly reparable and was designed with repairs in mind, but they say you need a special tool that only HTC has.

I have both defender and commuter..but i prefer the commuter since its have quite thick and soft rubber if compare to defender which have thin and hard rubber (not good to absorb impact) plus the hard poly plastic and aluminum i dont think they are good when mix with each other. Easy to scratch the aluminum body. The hard case, i observe is too tight (prone to scratch the alu body) when i put my H1 inside it, feel very solid, but i really afraid if it fall down, then plastic and its thin rubber unable to protect it from impact..i do try search if anyone had done any drop test using the defender or commuter with no prevail..

Stop trying to save 30 dollars and get HTC to replace it. You will kick yourself when you get your phone back and the case is mangled because third party repairs don't have the right tools to disassemble the phone.
I have a TPU case and so far I've done great in terms of drops. At least one face down drop from three of so feet off the ground.
Not trying to save anything but if HTC does it I'll be out a phone for 10 days plus cost. That's probably what I'll have to do tho. The cs guy said they may discount the repair due to the circumstances.
Get it done from HTC. With local places you need to consider not only might they do a crap job but they also might use cheap unofficial glass which is more prone to smash again, my friend recently had that problem with her Nexus 4 repair.
I decided to just file an insurance claim 200$ witch means 400$ in less than ninety days on this phone fml.

To be honest they look exactly the same but I would like a closer look. Sellers in Amazon claim that they're identical to the genuine with the exception of the logo.

It doesn't say HTC and obviously an overseas knockoff. In my opinion it's much, much nicer than the OEM version. It will flip open all the way back easily and isn't near as springy. It also works with my .3mm glass screen protector, http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6100440084.html.

Don't use one of these cases for protection period. I can almost state with certainty that if you drop your phone on any kind of solid surface, it will definitely come flying out of these cases. In fact, if you clumsily open the case to fast the device will come flying out sometimes. That is in the original from Verizon. They offer some screen protection while in pockets or bags, but little to no drop protection & even in bags, the top & bottom of the device is not protected from scratches.
It was a little more than I remembered but it's 13$ http://www.ebay.com/itm/221503424128?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
The pictures are of mine.
Beyond that I agree with the post above mine, the dot view case is very functional as an accessory but as a protector it's useless it pops out so easily.

And I also agree with the two previous posts. I bout the official case back in June and two weeks ago, it fell on a carpeted space and the phone flew out of it as well as the corners that secure the phone popping off. Since I enjoyed the functionality of the case, I ordered the above since spending $40.00 for something HTC will not stand behind (I tried to get them to replace it but was told they would not) was not something I was willing to do again.
I will report back pnce I get it.
I had the fake one with logo and the real deal case I got from a Verizon store. Felt the fake with the logo was just as good. So went to return the real deal case at Verizon. Turns out I mistakenly packaged the fake one and returned that one to Verizon(honest mistake). I had no idea until later when I took my One out of my csndyshell case and popped it in the dot view....So while I didn't mean to do that, I ended up with the real deal case. But honestly the fake one closed better than the real one. That is how close they are.
I'm on the Dot View case fence. I really like the concept but the reviews I've read have kept me from picking one up. Does the flap "loosen up" for lack of a better term after using it over time. What I mean is when open and flipped to the back does it start loosing it's springness that people complain about. I like hearing that the generic's seem just as good as the one from htc. I may just have to pick one up at the lower price.
I had an authentic one, and then recently bought one of those non-authentic ones.
As a direct comparison, they both look the same, but the quality is different. particularly, the dots' translucent level is very uneven, so you'll get random brighter vs darker patches
on the authentic one, all dots have consistent translucency
OME or Knock-off, I wish that someone would come out with one that snaps on decently (even if it used double-sided tape) and maybe wrapped in leather. The plastic makes the phone feel so cheap! I had the original. I have since misplaced it since I got a cheap otterbox knock off for now. Does the job, but I do miss the DotView for the cool factor.

I have an OEM Dot View case and love it. I spent about $15 for it on Amazon. HTC also updated Dot View to add more functionality. And I was surprised yesterday by the Halloween animations. I'm very impressed by it and glad I got it.
SoI received my case today in the mail and here are my findings:
1. The case closes just as well as the OEM one I had.
2. The plastic case itself feels a bit thinner that the OEM one but I like that since I felt the OEM one was a bit too thick and added bulk to the phone.
The "Seams are not as smooth as the OEM but I am going to try and use a nail file and see if I can't fix that my self
4. The "Springiness" of the hinge that is in the OEM is not present in this case as it was in the OEM
5. The cover does not lay flat on the back of the case when opened all the way but I think that is just due to the design of the case.
6. The case seeme to snap onto the phone as well as the OEM case did.
To me, the $8.00 I spent on this case is totally worth it. As a matter of fact, I might order myself a second one to have different colors to chose from. If you think about it, for the price of one OEM you can get 6 of these in different colors and still have $2 and change left over!
I posted some pics of the case but it's hard to see any details.
Hope this helps you guys make a choice.
