Official 4.3 ram consumption - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since my update on official 4.3, I have a high consumption of ram ... after starting the system already uses 1GB ram and after a while the RAM is full, even if I stop all applications Recent ... am I the only one in this situation?
I'm on the official 4.3 UB with Xposed framework and gravity box.

Try this command on terminal emulator, then post the result here
Code:
# ps | grep system_server

thats why I went back to 4.2.2,
ram usage is about 200 mb or more higher in 4.3 also actual usable ram drops from 1751 to 16xx ...

Amount of RAM and "ROM"

Moin moin
I just noticed (and saw on wiki) that our ace has 384MB RAM and 512MB "ROM"
i put togetzer the numbers i had: system + data + cache = always around 400MB. What is the rest used for? i mean 100MB are 100MB if you know what i mean.
same with RAM. is it used by some kind of ramdisk or what is it used for? cuz we just have ~276MB. Also more than 100MB going "nowhere"
I read somewhere that some ram is used for GPU. true?
Thanks in advance and wish a nice sunday

There's system, data, cache, boot, binaries, a lot of partitions (including efs), the device's hardware controllers, etc. That's where 512 MB run off to.

*384 MB
Ace have 330MB RAM - when the kernel boots they is an info about it in dmesg, but only ~280MB is alivbe for the user, other is reversed for the GPU (mostly), audio processing and etc.

In my opinion you don't be worrie with the Mb Ram it's appear or not. be worrie with ROM,
The ROM is like an HD, and like you now the system android it's based on Linux, so like every system linux you have on less 3 partitions, and 1 of them have a type Swapp. and if this partition be small if the Ace don't have Mb Ram, he go to the partition Swapp use the Mb that's in fault.
So see the differences.
Ram 330+ Rom 512 or
Ram 330 + Rom (1st partition 250+ 2nd partition 150 + Swap 100)
Ram 330 + Rom (1st partition 350+ 2nd partition 150 + Swap 12)
and don't forget you have the micro SD with memory extra.
in my point of view this option is the best Ram 330 + Rom (1st partition 250+ 2nd partition 150 + Swap 100) because you have more memory to complement at RAM.

Not getting it because I need my phone intact.
But here's an idea: build it with inferior hardware (instead of 384MB of RAM and 800MHz, use 300MB of RAM and 600MHz) and modify it to recognize 384MB RAM and 800MHz. The RAM and CPU usage should be lower. If you didn't understood, it's like installing Windows XP on a PC with 4GB of RAM and a Quad-Core 2000MHz (it would be blazing fast) ;D
And you have to get all the drivers and libs from Gingerbread and ICS, and port to Jelly Bean. That would do it, but it requires time.
Anyway, it's good to see the L3 isn't dead. Greetings from Brazil!

Search for jb odex,it should provide some extra space.
Try using minicm10,or jellybean by davee, they are most developed roms.
Btw. odex won't work with any davee's rom or with based on it (so probably all roms from yari too). For me litecm10 is great, it's just lighter minicm10. It's usable but only if you are not going to listen to music from phone, 4.1+x8+music=lags everywhere. But if you want jb look and fast rom just wait some time for optimus nexus me v6 - I've seen screens on facebook and it will be very very jelly
The best way to increase free space:
- drop every sh!t from the rom
- odex it
- remove all languages from the rom
- check how many mb used in /system and compile the kernel with new partition sizes
You can gain 20-25 mb after removing the languages (go into the minicm10 faq thread, I wrote earlier how to do it), you also gain another 40-50 mb additional space after changing the gigantic latinime and trebuchet to any normal sized app and removed the trash (wallpapers, ringtones, etc...)
You lost some space on /system after odexing, but you win lot of space on /data.
You can shrink the /system partition size in the kernel config to make bigger /data partition (and remove the /recovery partition, this is useless, only 10 mb wasted space).
If you do these steps, you can get free space on /data partition up to 250 mb.

Ćan you tell me best way for odex rom. I find some thead, but what kind you prefer?

increase ram using SDcard????

As you know all the apps are getting bigger and bigger and Xperia so with it's poor memory of can't handle all of the apps.
Recently I have some bad time with the ram memory (see the attachment)
I read about an app called "ROEHSOFT RAM Expander (SWAP)" it's paid app that use partition from sdcard on ram and it needs a kernal that support swap.
Does anyone tried that app ??
Is there any chance of a hardbrick??
Device : C5303
ROM : Official CM13
Kernal: helium v24.
Thanks in advance
I don't recommend, this will brick your sd card more soon than natural time

No you won't get hardbricked but you'd be doing yourself a deservice as the act of using SWAP is CPU intensive and will degrade your SD Card to a large extent due to many r/w operations that are required.

Phone lagging a lot. Shows only 43 MB of free RAM

I have this ROM flashed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-firmware-titan-xt1068-t3312933
I noticed that no matter what ROM I flash, within a month or so the phone becomes really slow. I don't have any heavy apps (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) either.
Going to Settings -> Memory shows me Android OS consuming 351 MB, System UI taking 76 MB and Android system using 60 MB
The lag is getting unbearable. How do I identify the cause of this issue and resolve it?
If ur rooted i recommend flashing Turbo Rom or Radium Redefined or Aosp Roms .. they are debloated at their best for performance & use greenify app to hibernate all apps that u dont use & get rid of any battery saver or such apps ..

Solution 1 (If you are rooted): Remove the unwanted and ram consuming apps like custom launcher, maps, youtube, facebook, etc using link2sd app. Also install greenify and hibernate all the apps which u doubt are consuming the ram.
Solution 2 : Try switching to another ROM (Recommended - CM12.1 or Turbo ROM) with pico/nano gapps. But before installing the ROM make sure you wipe data/cache/dalvik/system. Also you can use solution 1 contents with these ROMs. Thanks
Cheers.

thanks for the reply. I have flashed Cm 13.0 snapshot from 20th August but stuck in boot animation. Tried rebooting but still stuck... I am able to access TWRP and bootloader though
Ok guys I have flashed CM13 and now the phone has 133 MB of free RAM. I use Greenify as well. Is there a way to find out which app is causing the issue?
Android OS is still consuming 200MB of RAM and I'm only left with around 135 MB of free RAM. Can someone help me out with this?
Use a lightweight rom (preferably AOSP based, since it doesn't have all the CM ****). I recommend Krexus Caf. It's really light (only 205mb!!). Install opengapps pico; it doesn't have stuff like the google app and other stuff that hogs ram. Install xposed and greenify and hibernate apps. Also, download L speed mod and select multitasking option in the ram management settings.
No rom will help you these days if you only have 1 GB of ram.

Well it's tempting to say that, but like I said, my friends with the same phone had around 250 - 300 MB of free RAM in it...
