[Q] Firefox OS - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,i wanna know if there is someone working on port FFOS to our phone, if yes, I wanna help if possible.

But from wich devices should anybody port it?
Here is the link if anybody want to see it: Firefox OS

I don't think firefox OS is worth to try at this current moment, its UI is ugly, lack of apps support from google play store, bad performance. I would like to see MIUI v5 ported rather than Firefox OS. Anyway, all that just my personal opinion

common ebaseks
I think Firefox OS and ugly, I'd rather carry UBUNTU PHONE, seems much more promising

[Q] quasi-Blackberry OS rom ?

Hello,
So I am curious, has anyone flashed/ceated a ROM that is basically the blackberry rom?
Thing is I am thinking about upgrading my phone and considering a blackberry just because my new job relies heavily on outlook thus it would be easier to be integrated on a blackberry.. So I really want to try out their OS before going out and upgrading b/c I might hate it. I dont think I can really just buy the phone and try it out for a few days so I had a quick thought; maybe someone had either like ported the Bb OS to android or made a similar rom?
Oh and before you hate up on me for wanting to leave the awesome-ness of android I must say I LOVE LOVE LOVE my g1 and am thinking it might be very hard to convert to Bb which is why I want to 'demo Bb out'. Android rules!!
thanks for your advice/help in advance..
anyone?
Is there a way to run the Blackberry OS on android ?? Has like anyone ported it or anything??

[Q] Question for all devs....maybe a little stupid...

I have been wondering for quite a while....maybe it is a little stupid so maybe you guys might not want to reply...
We have been receiving custom ROMs like Nova, Pay's ROM and CM7. It was good all along whether it is 2.2 or 2.3, still waiting for CM9... and i was actually wondering after looking at the news that LG is going to release their next WP7 device, why isn't there a WP7 port.....What i meant wasn't the launcher like Launcher 7 and other MODS to make the phone into WP7-look(fonts and framework etc etc). Is it possible to make a direct ROM port into a Android device or was I just thinking a little to much? Maybe the specs couldn't fit in? I hope you guys can like think about it? I mean wouldn't it be cool if we can have WP7 ROM on Android? That would be like breaking the barrier in between them!
WP7 - as any MS sh*t - is not open source. It's proprietary software. So you don't have the source, neither the right to port or modify. I'm amazed you did not realize...

You can't have "WP7 ROM on Android". WP7 and Android both are Operating System. Perhaps the right question is "can WP7 installed on P970 devices?". But, using WP7 means I can't accessed the source code, and I don't want it...

Exactly.
My roommate had Samsung Wave mobile (Bada OS) and he was tired of it, so i went to some tutorials and installed him Android on it.
The point is, if you install WP7 (or even Symbain belle for the matter), your device won't be android anymore, and of course as far as i know there doesn't exist any port of other OS for our p970... ( most android phones don't have the port; it's usually the other WP, Bada, Symbian devices that get android port )
So, if you want to have metro UI, the best option is to use Launcher 7 at the moment. But trust me, it's all just a one week fun, because in the end the customizations you can get with ADW and Go launcher are of no match.

Dual Boot Possible?

Was curious if anyone one has looked into dual booting on this device. Like Firefox OS and Android. If no one has checked into ill will when i get my phone back friday. If its not possible then maybe ill just try porting Firefox OS for our device. Already looked into the firefox porting and doesnt look like it will be that hard to get it on our devices. however i still prefer dualboot if possible.

Would be nice but I don't think its possible, but there was something in the galaxy s thread about it so idk.maybe talk to camcory about it.
Ya that's what gave me the idea about doing it for our phones. I wait on asking camroy til i get my phone in and get at least a native port of Firefox OS before worrying the dual boot part for now. Plus I'll have to test the port and see whats majorly broken and what is not. Worse case I know i can take a different approach and do like I did back in the day with my windows mobile 2003 phone and have it on the sdcard. So you start up like normal into (for this case just saying how the windows mobile/android boot worked) Windows Mobile. Then launch an app that shuts down windows mobile completely to free up resources then it boots up android GB (when i did this) from sdcard. It really wasn't hard to get it to do that. So i don't see why we couldn't do the same for this phone but Android and Firefox OS. Least the brighter side of using android and firefox is that they both are made for the same hardware where compared to my windows mobile phone it ran an xscale cpu ( Windows only cpu ). So it shouldn't feel slower than what it would by it's self. Android just wasn't made for intel xscale cpus.

Well the s4 has dual boot and HTC is capable and what i was reading in the galaxy s forum it looks like i might be capable. And for firefox i see in the nexus s the camera and bluetooth doesnt work but i think cam has fixes for that so i guess youll find out once you compile the rom. If you need help with testing or anything let me know I'd be happy to help.

Well got my phone back already got AOIP on it and been testing out the device its self to make sure it wasn't defective and its not. So now I'm gonna start working the firefox os port with in the next few days. its been quite a while since I've done any programing and what not so not promising anything but I will definitely try. So bare with me on progress. Any how I know we can run firefox os on our phones. according to Mozilla ]https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox_OS/Introduction hardware requirements is arm6 cortex5 or better cortex 7 with neon, adreno 200. then the rest is standard wifi/3g gps and others like that. So yeah its possible. its just building the rom and fixing device specific bugs. Also yeah I wouldn't mind having internal beta testers when i get to that point. Just glad mozilla has a lot of useful resources on porting it.

Starting to like window apps on my nexus 6 :s

Hey all is it just me or are the Microsoft apps getting much better now (i do mean android versions and i dont mean windows os)
They look and run so nice on my nexus.... i know can not believe i just said that myself
what u guys think ?
Why does your subject line read "Windows"? It should just say Microsoft. MS does make software for many different operating systems.

Its one of the best and the most stable OS around, the trouble is that nobody wants it (or MS can`t sell it)
Got their mail app, onenote and onedrive.... they work great and look great on android i have never used a newer windows phone (or os or whatever u want to call it, still windows in my eyes) so i wonder if they look and feel like that on their own os.

I had some windows phones and the OS is very efficient and works fluid and fast even with a 2 cored cpu. Android is much more power and RAM hungry then WP8.1 or iOS.
thanks for the feedback mate

Request for other operating systems on Android One

This is a request thread for developers to port non-Android OSes to Android One devices.
Hello there users and devs of Android One!
Here in this thread, I will put forward the rationale for developers to port mobile operating systems that don't have a robot as a logo to our devices.
Android One is well supported by Google and (somewhat shockingly) MediaTek. Source code can be found on Google's official repositories and as a result, the custom ROM development scene is very much alive. The only thing lacking are the ports of other platforms. We have the install base to test ports (I think), we have CM support (this helps with porting some systems such as FirefoxOS and Ubuntu Touch) and we surely have devs who can do it (you know who you are and I hope that you're reading this).
As for users, please comment down below for what operating systems y'all would like to see on your phones so that we can grab the attention of those heroes behind the screen! Developers can reply to a request directly or PM me if you want to talk. It would be nice if you coders would respond.
P.S. Thanks for all the ROMs and the entire community is grateful for the works you all did for Android One users around the globe! :good:
buy a nexus device and u will have that OS
Android One devices are like cheap nexus devices
The reason many buy Android One phones is to get the vanilla experience for cheap. Some buy it because it's a Google device, therefore, easy to tinker with. Also Nexus devices may not be found easily at retail shops in some countries. That's why I bought Android One. What this thread is hoping to achieve is to (at least) get discussion started on other OSes in our phones. It's very likely that there are people here who bought Android One because of the Nexus-like experience being more accessible.
Will really appreciate the work to port other OS to android One... Hope someone makes that happen
Yes.Can't wait to see another os
FirefoxOS has already been ported to sprout, by Shahidujjaman Khan Anik. He said that he'll make a thread soon.

Great!
That's really nice! I wanted to try my hand at porting it myself, but I ran into an issue during the build process. Glad to hear that someone was successful in doing so!
Hopefully this is only the beginning of OS diversity on Android One.
P.S. Best of luck to the developer and I'll start testing on my device soon.
P.P.S. I'm considering making a thread for him, is that allowed and could I hand over management and/or ownership to the dev after creation?
Happy to see Firefox OS on android One. Hope to see more of them too
Btw is hike available on firefox OS by any means?
News.....
I search for ubuntu touch for sprout and found that same dev that compiled firefox os has compiled a version of Ubuntu Touch!
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=44454
I can't wait to test it.
If someone has test one of this, please give us some feedback

I heard that that build of Ubuntu Touch doesn't boot.
But I hope that he, being as good as he is, will get it running soon!

quick update
ubuntu touch system.img does not installing.... so I cannot boot it
firefox os boot up and works fine for now,
-camera does not work indeed...
-sometimes random crashes
for me it is not a daily driver for now....
Installed Firefox OS
Bugs
1. Sim 2 does not work
2. Cannot connect to mobile data
3. Camera does not work
As @lzimbrea said, not recommended as daily driver

Anyway users have to give it a try! Is first different os for sprout.
Maybe an update will fix some bugs and make it a daily driver
Personally I wait for ubuntu touch build.... Firefox os is a bit immature for now.
Congratulations to dev for his efforts!
What about windows ?Did anybody port it?
Cannot compute
Windows mainly runs on the x86 architecture, while most Android devices like ours run on the ARM architecture. Mainstream Windows will not run and Windows 10 Mobile is closed-source; what this means is that the code is inaccessible for anyone wanting to port it. Unless Satya Nadella sees fit to open up Windows source code, this won't happen.
