1st and most importantly is the sim card. I watched some videos on youtube about cutting it, but one also said that I had to "sand" it because it was thicker, but another video said it would fit all slots. So would I have to sand it or just cut it for the moto x?

kinda. It's been discovered it has a light that only lights up when you plug it in to charge and there's not enough juice to run the screen's charging animation. Someone is working on using it for more. But work is very early.

I cut my micro Sim to Nano and just did a quick brush with sandpaper to smooth the edges that were cut. Don't sand too much, it needs to fit the tray for a nano Sim and cutting it brings it to Nano size already...just smooth it out.
Active notification rocks once you start using it.
No official notification light though a light has been found with very limited access/functionality at the moment. That's why it has Active Notifications....a replacement for a basic light notification.

One more thing, how is the battery life on this? I returned my nexus 5 because the battery life is absolute junk. I couldn't even get through a school day with that thing. Can the moto X last from 5:30AM to around 6:00 PM with moderate use?

I got around 4 hours of SOT on Wifi without root. and about 3.5 of SOT lte. I usually game a lot. and with rooted i get around 5 SOT. and to answer your question. Definitely. I've gone 2 days with light use.
Technically a sim that has been cut down should be sanded a little thinner. The nano sim specification is thinner, using a sim that hasn't been sanded a little will work but it is much harder on the sim card slot.
Active Notifications rock, give it a try.
I got mine today, noticed the volume rocker is nearly flush with the side, while the power button really sticks out. Is this normal? Or should the volume rocker be flush with the power button?
Sent from my XT1053 using Tapatalk
i cut my SIM and it was fairly easy. just make sure you don't cut the chip in the middle. after a few weeks i jsut went to VZW and got replacement for free...
Both the volume rocker and power buttons should stick out about 1/64". Return it! Chris

A stuck sim can be a real pita. Why not just get an actual nano SIM? Most carriers can transfer your number to the new sim in an instant.

I know the Verizon X (Developer Edition included) comes with a Verizon nano sim.
Am correct in thinking that the Moto Maker versions come with SIM for the carrier you selected when ordering?
So I guess what I'm asking is.. Other than maybe the GSM Developer Edition, doesn't the X come with a Nano sim for the selected carrier?

Contacts are not stored on your Sim theres only info for your data plan. You can just cut and put it in though.

So I have the ATRIX HD and I love it, but there's one thing that's annoying me. I can't get my sim card to stay in place within the slot, it doesn't click in like the microsd card does. I'm not sure if that's what's supposed to happen but I've just been closing the door to the slot area and it seem to stay in place and my phone radio works. Anyone have any ideas or pics they could post as to how theirs looks? Thanks!!!

The sales rep at the store had the same issue, but he eventually got it to lock in. I haven't removed it to try myself, but it looked like he had to push it in a little further than the microSD to make it work.
Edit: just tried it and I had to use a key (just what I had laying next to me) to get it to go in and click.
Sales rep had the same issue inserting my sim. She actually chipped her nail getting it in. Guess it was her first AHD

Same Problem
Me and my friend bought (both) ATRIX HDs on eBay.com (NEW IN BOX).. and when they arrived we faced the same problem, Micro SIMs does not Pop in correctly on both phones. Friend tried to force SIM to pop in and stay there but he broke spiral(or how it is called) inside and it will not Pop out without same help... On the other hand I can not Lock in my micro SIM and it pops out.. I have to force and close the cover so that SIM stays IN...
P.S. SIMs work on both phones..(even though it is not locked in my phone, but I am afraid not to break cover as sim pushes cover hard from inside

Hello All,
Can someone please provide their experience with using a dual SIM adapter on their Note II device.
I am thinking of this for future traveling.
T.I.A.
I have a gmate+. Was very good and handling well on 4.1.2. But when I flash 4.3. The device blocked during call. Restarting. Lost voice. It has issues with android 4.3. Hope they will update the app. I really like that device and it was all I need to transform my phone to a dual sim active phone.

Thank you smentoma!
This will be a good start
Have been using the MAGIC SIM Elite dual SIM adapter for quite some time now and it has been working as expected.
Have been able to utilise both SIM's 3g/4g connections with no issues and switching between SIMs isn't difficult (requires activating/deactivating airplane mode).
It isn't dual standby/active, meaning that its only one SIM active at a time. You can set it up (not a feature of the adapter, but something to arrange with carrier), so that if one SIM is inactive, it will forward calls to the other SIM which is active and vice versa. That way you won't/shouldn't miss out on calls.
Can be tricky to insert into the Note 2's SIM card slot.
My trick to inserting it, is to first put a micro SIM in to disengage the spring lever that's in the slot, then carefully pull the micro SIM out with needle-nose pliers (don't push the SIM to get it out like you normally would), then place the dual SIM adapter (micro-SIM side) into the slot and slide the micro SIM in. That way the adapter won't impinge on the spring lever and will more than likely sit over the SIM slot contacts (hope that made sense).
It's very easy to either pull too hard or twist it and damage the flex cable.
Have been using it with Beanstalk 4.3 ROM and TW 4.1.2 stock and no issues with either ROMs
It will bulge out a little when putting the battery cover back on.
Thanks Optimistic Pessimist!
I'm looking for a dual SIM adapter, so thank you for this thread. It will help me. Anyway, did u try anyone in AOSP 4.4?
Here is mine, got it from ebay for USD 5, was for the iphone 5, but will also work for android, infact any of them from ebay will work, no need to spend the extra cash for a magic sim.

It's more convenience, especially if you are on the move, there are BT units available that allows 2 sim, 3 sim or 4 sim active at the sametime.
I know that....but if you are driving and need receive a call over bluethoot you cant....soo phone lose that usuability.

I have a chance to get one of these phones but the seller says missing sim tray. Is there a way to just tape the sim to the terminals. What can i do? I have an iphone sim tray from a 3gs would that work? What is a compatible HTC sim tray i could use?

An iPhone 3gs Sim tray uses mini Sim and the first has a micro so that's out of the question. And tapping it in probably wouldn't be such a good idea considering there's allot of space and it would be moving all the time. There is a OEM light blue HTC first Sim tray http://m.ebay.com/itm/141123998651?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1
But in my opinion that's too much. The phone closest relating to our is the one mini
http://m.ebay.com/itm/151182582693?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1
Which is cheaper but there's no guarantee it would fit. Then there's the One & Nexus 4 which could also be good candidates for Sim tray swapping but there's no guarantee it would work
Hope I could help

Well i don't think the tray would be a big problem, I had a normal sim and I cut it to micro sim.
I cut it a little too much and I was afraid that it would be moving around in the sim tray but no worries.
My point is that you could probably even get it working with a makeshift tray or something

Look. I got my first, brand new, no contract, and in box for 150$. About two years ago I got my old lg for 120$ no contract. So I got a really good deal.
Cullularcountry.com is awesome. I'm sure an HTC first will pop up there sooner or later. If not get a atrix HD for like 170$ no contract brand new. Or an HTC one x or anything else with no problems.
As far as a Sim tray goes. Use thin pieces of wood that they use on like clarinets and other instruments. Quite thin and light. Like taking it and carving out a slot for the Sim? Not sure how good it would be but quite possible. Otherwise idk haven't come up with anymore ideas.

Just wondering if Anyone is using a nano sim on their Note 4 with a nano to micro sim adapter to fit the micro slot of the note 4?
I've been using one in my unlocked Note 4 and G3 with no problems.
Also using one here.
+1 here use it and remove it daily.

Yup, so do I. Works just fine.
It works fine but I wouldn't recommend it. The edges of the sim adapter sometimes will get caught in the sim card terminal connectors inside the sim tray and will break. When that happens you get the no simcard icon.
I'm using a nano sim. No adapter.
Huh? How. Pics please if you have some time

Can't picture it. And then somebody else already did. You just need to know where to put it. And no, it doesnt slide around. If fits snug. I am sure it is possible if you dropped your phone on the edge somewhere it might get out of position enough to disconnect but I haven't encountered this. And I've gotten insertion correctly the first time probably 90% of the time. It is kind of a pain to get out, but being patient and not pushing it further in is key. And the reason some of us don't use adapters are that there are way too many knock off adapters that will actually mess up your sim slot. I have a sim punch and could use the old sim as an adapter but still risky for pins getting caught in the gap and screwing up slot. A lot of people don't know you can use smaller sims in a bigger sim slot. I would venture nano Sims would not work in the old full size sim slot because it is too big but I don't have anything or the interest to experiment it.
I've used my nano sim in the original note and connected great. It had the big original Sim slot as well.

Question
My friend has a nano sim without an adapter in her Note 4 Eynos model.
Works fine.
But she's been getting really bad battery .
Think the nano sim can be the cause ?
Or faulty battery or apps or something else ?
The nano sim has to be perfectly placed like the picture a few posts up to work without an adapter. Also when trying to fit the nano sim perfectly you have to restart the phone to get it to work...
An adapter cost about $1, I don't see why you would go through all that trouble everytime you take out your sim. Different strokes different folks
An adapter just doesn't fit right ... I have 2 and both Dont feel safe....

Don't really need both at the same time, I use google voice as my primary number, so calls go to both anyway. Its mainly so i can swap quickly without taking the phone out of the case. the coverage at work is dumb, T-mo works flawlessly on one side of the building while AT&T is near useless. and the other side its the exact opposite, and I frequently move between the two.
took a chance and ordered another cheap one, this time it works.
