anybody know of a dual sim adapter that is known working with the note 4? Ordered a $5 one off amazon, but can't get it to work with my note 4, while it does work on the note 2.
in my searching, i keep coming across magic sim, but i don't really want to go and spend $40 on one not knowing if it will work for sure or not.

I'm using Saige and I got it off amazon for under 4 bucks if my memory is right and it works like a charm. In the kit I purchased I got the remover tool, 3 different sizes of sim adapters and a desk mount phone holder. All straight from China lol!!!

That's a SIM adapter for a different SIM size, not one to enable the use of two SIMs at a time.

Yeah I missed the keyword "dual" in your post. That's pretty cool and I never knew those were even out there to be had. Learn something new everyday!!! I could sure use one of those too. I need to look around for myself and get one.
Those are neat...but you can't use both sims at the same time. look at this one http://www.magic-sim.com/product/id...DEVICE_-_2_SIMS_ACTIVE_AT_THE_SAME_TIME!.html sadly out of stock grrrr

Don't really need both at the same time, I use google voice as my primary number, so calls go to both anyway. Its mainly so i can swap quickly without taking the phone out of the case. the coverage at work is dumb, T-mo works flawlessly on one side of the building while AT&T is near useless. and the other side its the exact opposite, and I frequently move between the two.
took a chance and ordered another cheap one, this time it works.

Will an OTG cable work with stock, or do you need to root and/or have custom firmware?

Depends on what you are using it for, mouse/keyboard/game controllers(I think) do NOT need root. A flash drive or hard drive DOES need root, in which you can use StickMount.

If you use this toolkit it will backup your apps and restore them when the rooting and unlocking process is done

Haha - saw this too late. Already redid everything after rooting. My OTG cables should be here soon. I'm planning to use one "as-is" and the other one I'm going to see if I can mod into my case. I ordered a keyboard case and I'm going to shoot to find some room in there where if I strip down the cable and put a microSD adapter on it I should be able to hide it somewhere!
Thanks!
Wish I had seen your post before. I ordered OTG cables from Amazon, they were cheap but I realized too late that they were shipping from Hong Kong so who knows when I'll be getting them...
something to watch out for... due to the N7's bezel, the OTG cable i purchased does not insert all the way. since its impossible to know yourself, buy ones tried by other members. i have to buy another.. sigh..
I use the Motorola Camera Connection Kit cable found HERE, which was shown by @sleeplessninja HERE.
It is much more expensive then the generic ones but I feel it is better quality.
I use it for keyboard/mouse (use at the same time with USB hub) and a PS3 controller, I actually use a Nyko 3rd party PS3 controller and works fine. All of them work with the N7 out of the box (stock, locked, and not-rooted).

I got the one from eForCity for my Galaxy Nexus (sold on NewEgg, but amazon has them, now, too). It works on the Nexus 7, too.
Should be this one. Much cheaper now than when I ordered mine! http://www.amazon.com/Micro-USB-OTG...e=UTF8&qid=1343765093&sr=8-1&keywords=USB+OTG
Would a Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter compatible with Samsung Galaxy S III / S3 work on the nexus 7?

Same here. Does not insert all the way and what's upsetting was it cost a little more than the others that do work, atleast the one I bought

I too, have the Motorola Camera Connection Kit cable.
Heavy duty cable that one is. Fits fine, works every time.
Guess it's a case of "get what you pay for".
As much as I wanted to buy a cheap OTG, I couldnt wait when I got my nexus ended up ordering the Samsung Official OTG and it works perfectly with the Nexus 7, its not cheap but hey its well constructed and works.
Got the one from Hong Kong took about 2 weeks. Works just as it should. Gonna pick up a 32gig USB from micro center for dirt cheap and make this tablet limitless.

Hello All,
Can someone please provide their experience with using a dual SIM adapter on their Note II device.
I am thinking of this for future traveling.
T.I.A.
I have a gmate+. Was very good and handling well on 4.1.2. But when I flash 4.3. The device blocked during call. Restarting. Lost voice. It has issues with android 4.3. Hope they will update the app. I really like that device and it was all I need to transform my phone to a dual sim active phone.

Thank you smentoma!
This will be a good start
Have been using the MAGIC SIM Elite dual SIM adapter for quite some time now and it has been working as expected.
Have been able to utilise both SIM's 3g/4g connections with no issues and switching between SIMs isn't difficult (requires activating/deactivating airplane mode).
It isn't dual standby/active, meaning that its only one SIM active at a time. You can set it up (not a feature of the adapter, but something to arrange with carrier), so that if one SIM is inactive, it will forward calls to the other SIM which is active and vice versa. That way you won't/shouldn't miss out on calls.
Can be tricky to insert into the Note 2's SIM card slot.
My trick to inserting it, is to first put a micro SIM in to disengage the spring lever that's in the slot, then carefully pull the micro SIM out with needle-nose pliers (don't push the SIM to get it out like you normally would), then place the dual SIM adapter (micro-SIM side) into the slot and slide the micro SIM in. That way the adapter won't impinge on the spring lever and will more than likely sit over the SIM slot contacts (hope that made sense).
It's very easy to either pull too hard or twist it and damage the flex cable.
Have been using it with Beanstalk 4.3 ROM and TW 4.1.2 stock and no issues with either ROMs
It will bulge out a little when putting the battery cover back on.
Thanks Optimistic Pessimist!
I'm looking for a dual SIM adapter, so thank you for this thread. It will help me. Anyway, did u try anyone in AOSP 4.4?
Here is mine, got it from ebay for USD 5, was for the iphone 5, but will also work for android, infact any of them from ebay will work, no need to spend the extra cash for a magic sim.

It's more convenience, especially if you are on the move, there are BT units available that allows 2 sim, 3 sim or 4 sim active at the sametime.
I know that....but if you are driving and need receive a call over bluethoot you cant....soo phone lose that usuability.
Ive sell my grand duos and bought note 2 because the performance.....and bought another cheap phone for other sim card (htc desire z). Since its a company number I dont use alot. But need to stay "alive" all the time

sorry I did not make it clear, I meant the sim slot like iphone 4/4s which has a sim tray to pull out.
The RAZR HD has a SIM tray that pops out. I've never seen a iPhone one though so no idea if it's similar.

Just wondering if Anyone is using a nano sim on their Note 4 with a nano to micro sim adapter to fit the micro slot of the note 4?
I've been using one in my unlocked Note 4 and G3 with no problems.
Also using one here.
+1 here use it and remove it daily.

Yup, so do I. Works just fine.
It works fine but I wouldn't recommend it. The edges of the sim adapter sometimes will get caught in the sim card terminal connectors inside the sim tray and will break. When that happens you get the no simcard icon.
I'm using a nano sim. No adapter.
Huh? How. Pics please if you have some time

Can't picture it. And then somebody else already did. You just need to know where to put it. And no, it doesnt slide around. If fits snug. I am sure it is possible if you dropped your phone on the edge somewhere it might get out of position enough to disconnect but I haven't encountered this. And I've gotten insertion correctly the first time probably 90% of the time. It is kind of a pain to get out, but being patient and not pushing it further in is key. And the reason some of us don't use adapters are that there are way too many knock off adapters that will actually mess up your sim slot. I have a sim punch and could use the old sim as an adapter but still risky for pins getting caught in the gap and screwing up slot. A lot of people don't know you can use smaller sims in a bigger sim slot. I would venture nano Sims would not work in the old full size sim slot because it is too big but I don't have anything or the interest to experiment it.
I've used my nano sim in the original note and connected great. It had the big original Sim slot as well.

Question
My friend has a nano sim without an adapter in her Note 4 Eynos model.
Works fine.
But she's been getting really bad battery .
Think the nano sim can be the cause ?
Or faulty battery or apps or something else ?
The nano sim has to be perfectly placed like the picture a few posts up to work without an adapter. Also when trying to fit the nano sim perfectly you have to restart the phone to get it to work...
An adapter cost about $1, I don't see why you would go through all that trouble everytime you take out your sim. Different strokes different folks
An adapter just doesn't fit right ... I have 2 and both Dont feel safe....

Like many of you in the past, I am a Verizon unlimited data customer that didn't want a phone that was locked down from Darth Verizon. I purchased my galaxy nexus December of 2011. I just purchased my Nexus 6 from Moto's website and am psyched. All I have to say is this experience going from a Galaxy nexus to Nexus 6 is going to be epic.
I'm in the same boat. My nexus 6 won't be here till 1/5/15 so let me know what your steps are for getting the Sim activated.

I just did the exact same thing, G Nexus to Nexus 6 (got mine in on Monday). I printed out a template online (check with ruler after printing to make sure it's the correct size) and cut my SIM with scissors. Had to do a little filing to get it to fit flush in the SIM holder, just need to make sure you don't cut it too small. I think all the electronic are in the center oval so make sure not to cut into that part at all. Everything is working for me, calls, text, LTE.

Just note that since you're using a LTE sim card that old, it may cause problems even though you don't experience any.. your signal may not be as good as a new sim card.

But yeah the difference would be night and day.
As for my Sim, I called Verizon and said I ordered an HTC M8. They are shipping it. I also ordered a nano to micro sim adapter. I am going to put my newly acquired nano sim in the adapter and place it in my galaxy nexus to verify it works. Then remove it and place it in the Nexus 6. Hopefully it works
