[Q] Can't change MID again - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys! I was hoping I could get some help here, I would say I have moderate experience in this area but..
I was changing my Model ID. I got the ENG H-BOOT zip and edited the android-info.txt to my own device. I noticed some things different from the last time I did this. Instead of the fuzzy grey screen it actually had the bootloader showing up. It was the ENG bootloader and was a low version H-BOOT. I then issued the command:
Code:
fastboot oem writemid PN07120
after that I changed my CID and then proceeded to use the BrightStar US RUU for the Developer Edition. It told me:
Code:
FAILED (remote: 41 model id check fail)
Realizing my mistake, I made the zip again with the eng hboot and replaced the necessary variables. ie. modelid: PN07120 but when I try to flash it in RUU mode it still gives me the:
Code:
FAILED (remote: 41 model id check fail)
I keep on trying different combinations but to no avail.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could lend a helping hand. :fingers-crossed:

[Request] HTC Raider Rogers ICS RUU

I think I may have soft bricked my HTC Raider.
I was attempting to flash CM9 on my HTC. I followed the pre-flash procedures (Wiping Data, etc). Then, once it was complete, I rebooted the phone. The phone could not get past the CM9 Blue Tunnel animation. I left it there for about an hour, but nothing happened. I can still access my recovery and bootloader. I have tried flashing another ROM, as well as restoring a Nandroid backup I made, but they all lead to the white HTC screen. My Raider has S-ON.
User MzzSarahx3 had an extremely similar case, except that person had an AT&T Vivid, as seen here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836&page=51
MzzSarahx3 managed to fix the problem by running an RUU, so that is why I believe I can fix my situation by doing the same. I am aware of the RUU Collection that Football uploaded, but clicking on a link on FileFactory will give me an error saying that all download slots are in use.
So could somebody please link me, or upload, an ICS RUU for the HTC Raider on Rogers? Help would be much appreciated.

I have been clicking on that link since this morning. And it still gives me the same message. I will continue to check, though.
Does anyone have an alternate solution?
The stock Bell ICS RUU should work fine on your Rogers Raider. ( I have a Bell Raider but installed it on my buddy's Rogers Raider).
I'm uploading the stock Bell ICS RUU to Depositfiles right now but its gonna take an hour. I'll update my post with the link when it's done.
You can probably find the stock Bell ICS RUU on various threads in the forum. I believe that's where I got it from originally.
Note that if you have unlocked your bootloader (via htcdev), the stock RUU will refuse to install !

Thank you very much for uploading it!
I am definitely looking forward to using my phone again!
BTW I have looked around for the Bell ICS RUU on these forums, but did not find anything. The closest thing I found was this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672800&highlight=bell+ics+ruu
But they said it was not a RUU so.....
I have uploaded the Bell ICS RUU to DepositFiles. You're welcome!

Umm, well I downloaded the RUU file you kindly uploaded, but I have encountered a problem.
ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR
I have tried many times. Got this error every time. I guess it is because I have a Rogers phone and attempting to update using a Bell RUU.
Any suggestions?

Damn... I don't remember having to do that for my buddy's Rogers Raider. Sorry.. it was some time ago.
He's here so I just checked his phone... we must have put in the SuperCID back then (which may accept any RUU?)
C:\Users\Master>fastboot getvar cid
cid: 11111111
finished. total time: 0.000s
and I ran mine (actual Bell Raider).:
C:\Users\Master>fastboot getvar cid
cid: BM___001
finished. total time: 0.000s
Feeling adventurous? I'm not sure if you need to be S-OFF to do this (or have unlocked bootloader, or even both) but...
You can change the CID via fastboot.
Fastboot commands that you can do: (thank you jmone from showpost.php?p=25187040&postcount=199)
(to check your current CID - write it down?)
fastboot getvar cid
(to write a new CID to the phone)
fastboot oem writecid 11111111 (where the 11111111 contains the CID you want - you can try the 11111111 (is that known as SuperCID?) or you can try mine, which is BM___001 as specified above)
(then reboot into bootloader mode)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
(then if it reboots back into fastboot mode, you can run this to verify your desired CID made it)
fastboot getvar cid
Then maybe the RUU will allow itself to install?

I typed in the commands and I got this:
c:\Users\Leo Zheng\Desktop\Vivid Toolkit\Data>fastboot oem writecid 11111111
... INFOvreg_set: request is duplicated id 14
INFO holiday_init_sd, SD card power on ok

finished. total time: 1.076s
c:\Users\Leo Zheng\Desktop\Vivid Toolkit\Data>fastboot getvar cid
cid: ROGER001
finished. total time: 0.002s
So, that means the SuperCID did not manage to write. I searched around and found hints about something called Radio S-OFF or Gold Card, but it was for a different HTC phone...
Is there a guide to follow so i could get this?
BTW SuperCID would allow the user to use any RUU.

Ahhh.. so you need to be S-OFF it seems. The S-OFF procedure isn't super easy, but it's nice to have (because with S-OFF, the custom roms you install will be able to automatically flash their kernel. With S-ON, to run a custom rom, you need to flash the kernel separately... not a huge deal, but having S-OFF is convenient if you like to try different custom roms). To S-OFF, you have to be willing to void your phone's warranty.
Theres gotta be the Roger RUU out there somewhere (that is ICS). I have the Rogers Gingerbread RUU... but I think it will only work if you havent upgraded your phone to ICS yet...

I also have the Gingerbread RUU and yes, it does not work. You were right about the ICS RUU out there somewhere.
I dug deeper into the comments of Football's thread on the Shipped RUU Collection to see if anyone had trouble downloading from FileFactory and somebody requested the Rogers ICS RUU mirror there. I downloaded it any now my cell is back to being operational!

Thanks to LaZiODROID, ronnie498,and Gene Poole for all their help!
Well, I also like to make sure I don't make the same mistake again. Anyone know why my phone ended up the way it is?

Amazing! Glad it worked out. Thanks for that link. I'll be archiving a copy of that Rogers RUU.
As for why your phone wouldnt boot with CM9... Is CM9 still in development? Maybe you should try a different ROM.
I'm using Pegasus right now and enjoying it. (As per kozmik I did have to do an extra step to get my LTE going, but it was pretty easy).
Remember to do a backup and your 4 wipes (data, cache, dalvik, and /system) before you install the rom, of course!
OK, thanks for the tips and the ROM suggestion.
I'll try Pegasus next.

[Q] Flash Error: remote: 41 model id check fail

Hi,
i tried to flash the Google Play RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43517424&postcount=358
- I'm S-Off
- CID is GOOGL001
I get the following message when entering "fastboot flash zip RUU-HTC_One_GE-2.14.1700.15.zip": FAILED (remote: 41 model id check fail)
Any ideas?
Thanks
Max
Ok, got ID. The RUU's Adnroid.txt says: modelid: PN0712000
Hence, is the RUU not compatible with a German HTC One?

You should just have to add your MID to the android.txt file in the zip.
You could also change your MID if you really wanted:

I am not sure because it is a full RUU with all stock GE images.
I would think it is ok becasue you are s-off, but since it contains all the stock partitions I would ask in the main thread of:

[Q] OTA Update!!

Hi guys,

Yesterday I got my HTC ONE but I found that the android version is jelly bean 4.1.2 which doesn't contain the IR TV app and the HDR camera option and other thing..

Hello Guich,
I recently bought HTC One with the same CID but different model id...
i.e : CID : HTC__332
Model I.D : PN0711000
HBOOT : 1.44.0000
Radio: 4A.15.3250.22
Now i did follow you step by step as carefully as i could because its my first time with changing RUU's, I did root some htc handsets in the past but thats the only knowledge i have regarding android.
Anyways i gained S-Off Using revone and downloaded the RUU you posted, but while installing that RUU i get this error
[Error 131 : Invalid Model ID]
Can you guide me to a specific RUU of my current model or a simpler guide to changing Model ID because the following guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322820 is too difficult and i cant seem to understand it, maybe you can help me out.. i would be very grateful to you.

get a garbled cid in my HTC one t28w

Hi, all. I get a very wired cid in my HTC one t528w(retails for China, I think.).
C:\Users\Andes\Downloads\adb-fastboot>fastboot getvar cid
cid: %??
finished. total time: 0.003s
as you can see I use 'cmd' to get my cid, I get a garbled cid. but mid is alright: mid: PM6012000. Right now the phone is unable to boot normally to the home screen, but only the fastboot. So I am trying to use RUU to flash the phone, but as the cid is wired, every time I flash the phone using RUU, it shows 'cid error'(132). I don't know what I can do now. I even can't flash a supercid to the phone, because, when I connect the phone to my pc, and try 'adb shell', it just shows 'device not found'. That's very strange.

I think the only thing I need is to flash a stock RUU (doesn't matter which version, as long as it works, then to do again all the processes: unlock bootloader, s-off, custom recovery, root, stock WWE RUU).

trouble is, your current OS is 2.25.1402.1 and thats an OTA not an RUU, you need a full RUU, this one may work:
PN07IMG_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTCCN_CHS_CU_2.30.1402.1_ Radio_1237.25.32.0717_release_332510_signed_2_4.zip http://d-h.st/NAf which is the next full RUU up from yours.

Umm, im a bit confused, its a zip file not an official RUU, im just downloading it to take a closer look, how are you trying to flash it ?
EDIT: ok its an RUU zip, it need to be flashed in fastbootRUU mode, using fastboot commands, bootloader needs to be locked as you are s-on, Its should work as this OTA states that RUU was your next update if you got it via OTA, OTA_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTCCN_CHS_CU_TO THIS ROM VERSION 2.30.1402.1 --------------------- FROM THIS ROM VERSION-2.25.1402.1 SAME AS YOURS_release_332539.zip - 50.49 MB

from fastboot, using the command line:
fastboot flash zip ....zip
I've locked back the bootloader, and still doesn't work:
writing 'zip'... (bootloader) adopting the signature contained in this image...
(bootloader) signature checking...
(bootloader) rom parsing start ...
(bootloader) rom parsing finish ...
FAILnot allowed
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
and no, it was an UNICOM version, and my friend tried to update to WWE.

You cant change to WWE without s-off, tell your friend to leave it alone lol, it requires you to change cid and mid etc first, then flash the corrisponding firmware and then the RUU.
Rename your RUU to rom.zip for ease, then issue these commands :
make sure its this RUU, not the WWE one PN07IMG_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTCCN_CHS_CU_2.30.1402.1_ Radio_1237.25.32.0717_release_332510_signed_2_4.zi p
fastboot oem rebootRUU (case sensetive, type it exactly like that)
Now your booted to the black HTC screen. Make sure your Rom.zip file is in your adb/fastboot folder
fastboot flash zip Rom.zip
This takes a couple minutes and you will most likely get a error
(pre-hboot update: please flush immediately) HTC typo, should be please flash immediately
Make sure device is still in ruu mode(black HTC screen)
now simply reflash the rom.zip, fastboot flash zip Rom.zip
Let it run and it should finish this time, make sure it says successfull at the end, if it does then fastboot reboot, you'll be full stock, if failed, report back here before doing anything else, dont reboot out of RUU mode.
The first flash is just a preupdate, the 2nd flash flashes the rom and firmware files.
Yes mate, I know that. Now I'm trying to put back any ROM then I will do the right procedure to install WWE.
But, now doesn't work at all. not even with that command (and it's not necessary to rename the zip file, as long as it's only one in the adb folder). I already tried that, and it doesn't work .
L.E. oh, wait mate! I think it works now! I'm waiting for the installation to be finished. do you have a good tutorial to upgrade to WWE version?

Im not really familiar with the dual sim versions, dont know how to s-off them, all the knowlege im giving you is just based on my M7, but to convert you will need to get s-off first, change your cid and mid to match the WWE RUU and then you'll need to flash the WWE full RUU as close to as possible to the version number you have now so that the firmware swap over goes smoothly.

just had a quick read through it, I would be cautious flashing HBOOT before getting s-off, if I was you I would use the moonshine s-off method for your HBOOT and device version first before flashing the HBOOT, make sure these have not changed after flashing an updated RUU.
A bad HBOOT flash will hard brick your device.
