Just helped a buddy root his droid. I don't have much knowledge on this device but i cant seem to get wifi tethering to work. I have tried Barnacle and wifi tether. I think i remember seeing some settings i need to change for Verizon but i can not find them. Any help is appreciated.

Assuming you already toyed with the settings in barnacle, try a different ROM/kernel setup.
I have the AT&T Galaxy S5 rooted via towelroot. I have tried several tether options, and all I have successfully gotten to work is pdanet through usb tether, and the limit pdanet imposes is not acceptable to me so I need to find an alternative. I would prefer a wifi tether method. If I try to enable the stock wifi or usb tether I receive the classic (To enable mobile hotspot on this device, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611) message. The wifi methods I have tried but not limited to are FoxFi, WiFi Tether-TrevE Mod, Open Garden WiFi Tether, and Barnacle Wifi Tether. With every thing I have tried, I always receive an error that varies with the app. I am open to pretty much anything, I just need clear instructions if it involves changing system files. I will really appreciate the help
I recently changed over to a mobile share value plan with at&t. Not only did my bill go down quite a bit, but the package also includes tethering. That being said, i believe foxfi works for tethering.

Check out the Wifi provisioning bypass thread under GS5 General forum. That method worked fine for me.
Could you point me too the WiFi provisioning bypass thread please. I searched for it under general and could not find it, thanks

After being guided in a different direction by STraver (Thank You) I have finally figured out a solution. The thread STraver referred to is actually titled "Wifi-Tethering Provision Bypass" which is why I didn't find it at first. In my renewed search I ran across several different methods, 2 of which required me to flash a zip in recovery. Both times the zip did not agree with my phone, it looked as if the code failed and then repeated in a continuous loop, my phones solution to the issue both times was to trigger a factory reset. I finally decided to go with this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2791938 which did the trick for me. I only strayed from one step,
Step 2:
Open Titanium Backup and find TetheringProvision 4.06.72
Press the App and select 'Freeze !'
Instead of purchasing Titanium Backup to freeze TetheringProvision, I got a free app from the playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ramdroid.appquarantine&hl=en and it did a great job at freezing TetheringProvision. For instructions solely concerning Xposed, I reviewed post #4 of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787606
This is what worked for me, and I can now freely use the native built-in wifi and usb tethering.
I have a htc first that I unlocked so I can use on tmobile, currently on stock rooted rom. I have been able to reliably get wireless tether to work and would like to share what I find so that other people can see if it works. By using the wireless tether app I used to use with my epic 4g touch wireless tether works.
The settings i used were generic wlan0 Jb
mms claming checked
routing fix checked
wifi driver reload checked
The apk is attached.
I know it is an older device but it can be unlocked easily for free and can be purchased on ebay for around 100 in excellent condition. Gets Lte on att not on tmobile but great hspa+ speeds in my area, the only problem I had was wifi tether until i tried this method.
I see there have been quite a few views has this method worked for anyone else?
Resurrecting a zombie thread,
I can confirm the wifitether treve mod above works great, caveat the settings are followed as above post.
hey guys so i have an unlocked d950 g flex and im currently using it on metropcs/ t-mobile so after trying my hardest and alot of research the only tethering app i was able to get to work is "wifi tether router". It works fine but from what i was told w.t.r. blocks your tethering but apparently it doesnt because im still gettting throttled . In my past ive always used foxfi to hide tethering but i cant get it to work with these phone. Does anyone know of any other ways to hide tethering usage for the g flex, another app that should work, or how to correct foxfi for the g flex?
