[Q] Stock ROM LED Notifications - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I just returned to stock rom (XWJWB/XWJW1/NEEJW2/Sbl (CSC: NEE)) after trying CM11. I flashed twice but both times I could not get LED notifications working. They worked fine under CM11. Any ideas? Also I think there are no settings to configure LED notifications, right?
Thank in advance

Hey
You could use a Kernel with BLN included, then download BLN Manager and set it up, so you can use your Softkey Backlight für notifications.

No, i've just done some research, but it's not possible to use BLN without Root and Custom Kernel :/

Fix for auto brightness:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545402
Flash via cwm recovery.
Remember to thank yousef-p for his fix.
And for LED notification remove lights.shakira.so from system/lib/hw with root explorer.
then go to cyanogenmod settings>interface>led notifications>advanced and tick always pulse and blend notifications.
Hope this solve your problam.

Thank you very much, the auto-brightness seems to work, but i delete that file with root explorer and it still don't work, the led is not working even when the battery starts discharging from 10%,thanks again!

Hmm...
Go to cyanogenmod settings>interface>led notifications>unconfigured and select Massaging.
Now change LED Mode to "use application settings" and choose flash color and blink rate.
Now you can test the notification with "Flash test" option.
Now tap on the save button. (Don't press back button)
And do those steps again for Missed Call.

[Q] Jelly Bean 4.1.2 hangs a lot!

Hey guys
I am running JB 4.1.2 on my Galaxy S Advance. First I was really pleased about the new functions, the additional speed and the new the design.
( I was running 2.3.6)
But now my mobile hangs a lot, if I'm watching videos, playing music or if I just go on facebook.
I've used the instructions of this video and I've done exactly the same as showed. /watch?v=2W2NVfGJ0Cc
Do you have any ideas, how I can speed up my phone?
Maybe with an other kernel, an other ROM or something like that.
Greetings from Switzerland!

Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app

i am using stock rom XXLQ4 with cocore 3.3 kernel and no frills config: governor-pegasusq and i/o-sio
still if u feel the phone lags which i dont think it will, u can enable forced gpu rendering in developer options, although u may experience screen flickering.
try Thunderzap 4.1 kernel and wipe cache/dalvik. See if there's any difference. It worked for me.
my phone also hangs quite a lot, a few times a day when i want to unlock my phone it just shows the last used app (be it the launcher or any other app) and doesn't respond except for the power button. when i press the power button the screen locks, but when pressing again it's still frozen.
(i know, it's a bit of an old thread, but maybe someone will reply)

It has been a long time since we have custom kernels and roms. Use CoCore E kernel and some custom ROM. Or some CM ROM.

already done, when i deodexed it i made a flashable zip that removes all files from /preload/symlink/system/app, /system/app and /system/framework, and then copies all the deodexed files to these locations, and roots it and adds dsp manager.

does cm 10.1 have a better battery life than cm 10.2? cause in cm 10.2 it was quite terrible, only about half a day with wifi off (i never use data connection, always turn that of ) and in standby most of the time.
edit- the battery is fine, it's almost new, and in stock rom i can get about 1 and-a-half day with wifi almost constantly on

Yeeees. I think similar to stock. I am on CM10.2 based ROM now, and CM10.1 was better for me.

i think i'm gonna try that one for a day or so, see if the battery life is indeed better than cm 10.2.
only downside other than that is the high vibration strength, is there anyway to lower that? (only for buttons and certain onscreen things)
and is there much difference in battery life between 10.2 and 10.1?
edit- just installed it, but wifi always takes about 2 minutes to turn on, so i'm back to stock based

I did not have that problem on 10.1. Did you use 1117 version? Use 1117+phone.apk from newest one.

so that one hasn't got the wifi problem? that would be great thanks for the link
and if so, is it also fixed in 10.2? that would be even better
edit- still the same problem, most of the time it takes around 2 minutes to turn on wifi, and sometimes it doesn't even turn on and i have to reboot.

If you haven't done yet, root your phone. Then flash a custom recovery. CWM or TWRP. Then flash a custom kernel or a custom rom.
I think the Jelly Bean stock-rom isn't recommended for this phone. It didn't use to lag, when I used Gingerbread 2.3. After flashing Jelly Bean it hanged a lot!
Now, i rooted it, installed CWM and the custom rom Pure Vanilla. It doesnt lag anymore!
Greetings and nice luck

Are you running stock rom with root?

I have the same issue.
My previous rom version was 1.28.401.7 (stock + rooted).
I updated to the latest stock 1.29.401.16R and the option disappeared.
I would like to know if users with the latest version have the same issue, perhaps it's a suppression from HTC to preserve screens (like Samsung) even if I don't really think so.

[Q] CM11 Backlight Notification buttons flashing

I have CM11, and whenever I get a notification, the 2 buttons near the Home button are flashing on and off.
I'd like to know to disable the flashing - not the light from the buttons itself (i.e. turning off the light completely).
