Hi, I´m new at this stuff... I just bought a new tf701t from amazon.com, and i am having a little bit of problems with the keyboard dock;
US SKU, it says that a mobiledock firmware update is available, but when i tried to update it, it just keeps giving me this message:
"The hardware keyboard will not work before updating mobiledockk firmware succesfully, try again?"
I tried rebooting the system, and it actually begins the updating process... but sooner or later it fails.
I´m having the 0205 version of mobiledock... and it should be 0207 supposedly....
The keyboard works... but the widget is still giving me no signs of battery, its still frozen at 6% just the same as when i bought it...
Help!!!

Check if there is an update available for your tablet (under Settings/About/System Update.
Had this once too and when i checked there was an update. It updated the dock firmware as well and all was working afterwards.

It doesn't :/ system is up to date... The keyboard works... But it doesn't show the battery percentage on the widget, and if I reboot the system, it begins the update process... But it always fails....
What else should I do?!

When starting the update: the dock must NOT be connected to the charger!!
And when in the end it won't update I would return it.
It's not connected.... It just begins the update and does not finish.... But it does work.... It's just the widget the one that is not working....

have you tried deleting the update file off the device? not sure where it would have saved it but it might be corrupt and reusing a bad file

Didn't read your original post well because I thought your dock wasn't working.
Did you try clearing the data of the battery widget (under Settings/Apps/All)?

Could be a faulty download of the update zip.
Look in the root of the internal sdcard or in the download map.
I don't know sure where ASUS downloads the update zip to but delete any update zip you find and it will come again with the message that there is an update. Then repeat the procedure again.
When you can't flash the dock firmware again then maybe something is wrong with the dock, sadly enough.
I'm getting the same issue.
Worked fine until the 4.3 update.
Now each time i connect the dock it tries to update the firmware and fails as above.
6% battery or sometimes it says 0%.
the dock itself seems to be unable to charge. when i plug it in (with or without the pad attached) the battery indicator flashes orange, after an overnight "charge" the indicator is still flashing orange.
The below is a pure guess:
Perhaps it tried to upgrade the dock while it's battery was low, obviously you must unplug the power adapter before you upgrade the dock firmware .
There wasn't enough power to update the firmware.
Without working firmware you cannot charge the dock.
Catch-22.
I think i'll just RMA it, since the hinge seems very wobbly, maybe i'll get a better attaching dock as a bonus.
Note the dock works fine as a keyboard but it's use as a external battery is defunct at the moment.

Whats the build date of your dock? Should be on the back of the box. if it's 2013.9/2013.10/and possibly even 2013.11, these have been confirmed as bad build months.

Anyone find a fix for this?
I have sent my dock out once already and it didn't help.
Still the same problem wanting to update dock firmware but unable to complete.
Epad Kernel Build Number: JSS15J.US_epad 10.26.1.28.

Thanks for any help.

Hi there - I hope someone can help with this problem...
I have a TMobile Compact II MDA (HTC Charmer?), using a HBH-608 headset. I can activate the voice dial from the headset, the voice recognition runs up, but dosn't hear me say who to call, and I can't hear it speaking.
Can anyone give me an idea what is wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Jeez - that's not good news! I have 2 docks and just send in the one with the same problem. I cannot believe they still send these lousy, faulty docks back! They should just replace them with one from the latest production! Although I don't know for sure that those are any better.....
I don't think there is a fix for it. Get on the horn with Asus and insist on getting a working dock! If they can't fix it, they have to replace it!
I let you know how mine comes back. And I for one will not let them get away with it! This is truly outrageous and I don't get their policy at all... Why are they dragging their feet for more than 6 months now instead of recalling these POS????????
They are just alienating customers left and right and getting themselves a really bad rep :headwall:

Hi,
until yesterday i had a perfectly working fast and snappy device:
JM5, Hackeclair, Tayutama´s update.zip lagfix, oc 120v2.3 kernel
then i tried to update the kernel to oc120v3 which worked out well and the device seemd running well so far. after some hours the device started to behave somewhat strange, it kept telling me "usb connected" again and again and again... so i got scareded and reflashed the 120v2.3 kernel. badly with no effect on the behaviour of the phone. so i just got scared eaven more and tried to reapply a nandroid backup of my virgin phone when i got it just to realize that this nandroid backup was far away from my original version, it showd me the wrong firmware number, did not overwrite the kernel and the csc and such stuff.
then i realized that i can only turn on my phone when it is connected to the charger and the green battery is showing, if i try to turn it on with usb disconnected it shows me the (not really) spinning wheel and then goes black again just to show the wheel again. also it often just crashes during sleep.
so what now? i cant reflash stock firmware since it is not available anywhere (a1 telekom austria branded) and so can not send my phone to repair...
any ideas someone????
you can send to repair saying it is dead. if it doesnt boot up they wont know what kernel or f/w is on it.. (a little dishonost since you toasted it).. or you can chalk it up to experience and buy a new one.. i never oc the extra speed is not needed and it chews through battery anyway.
just download a full firmware like JF3 then using odin and clicking the repartition option flash it to get rid of the oc kernel. I never mess with oc'ing as it tends to screw up your processor. Hopefully yours has not been fried.
it cant be the cpu, since it does start up when its connected to the charger, to me it seems more like the usb port of the device is defect (that could be why it always shows that "usb connected" notification) or somehow maybe the bootloader got messed up. actually the device is running well with a fresh installation of jm5 (repartitioned) except of not starting and those notifications...
also it could be somewhat hard to find jf3 since samsungfirmwares is down
Same thing happened to me a week ago. The usb connected message and the spinning wheel of nothing appeared on my Singapore galaxy set last week.
Went down to Samsung service center and showed them the phone. They were highly suspicious that this was caused by some custom firmware but later they honoured the warranty after some inspection.
2 hours later, my phone was fixed with Samsung telling me that it was because of the motherboard and that they had replaced a new one.
Hope you won't have trouble getting Samsung to do the warranty for you. Good luck.

I was using the Lagfix 1.0 with Root access only when the funny thing happened. I was running DXJG4 official firmware.
hmm, on investigating further, i realize that if the phone is turned on with charger connected, and i instantly disconnnect it when it starts up, it operates normally, so i just need a charger or usb cable to turn it on and everything is ok. with this i can live for until i find time to bring it to service.

Evening all,
I have being playing with a spare D3 and have been successful in bringing it back to life. I got it back to 959, and then upgraded it to 890. Now with the upgrade I have something weird happening and wondered if anyone else who is running 890 is experiencing this. I cannot seem to get USB mode to operate on the D3 now. It is connected to my PC via USB, but its not showing up on the device as connected. Is this happening to anyone else?
Thanks,
Steve

I think this thread belongs in General. The answer (probably) is that you have the wrong USB mode selected from the menu pull-down. Hit the little android-usb icon up top and choose charge only, storage, or pc mode. Media sync might be the default.
No worries but its not that. The choice was not showing up in the notifications. It was only charging the battery. I read in another forum that its the USB cable, and would you believe thats it true.
So for all of you make sure you use the USB cable that came with your D3. Somehow in 890 its programmed differently.

I use the cable that came with my Droid Incredible (HTC) and the cable that came with my DroidX, with my Droid3 with no problems--959 and 890 firmwares. Both cables are wired differently, but the phone tolerates both of them well, although using the HTC cable does not give reliable Fastboot flashing or charge-only-mode (phone off) results. You might want to pitch that cable if it was giving you issues, they don't last forever!
890 works great for me except that the signal strength indicator doesn't like to turn blue at times when I am on wifi. Anyone else get this? Maybe I need to wipe data....

I would recommend a full wipe, as that was happening with mine too. Once I did a full data and cache wipe it went back to blue...I actually like the blue! Wish someone would put together an ADW theme with that blue...maybe I need to learn how to use ADW.
I just did a full data wipe and it still does it. If I go from 3G to WiFi, the WiFi indicator goes blue but the signal strength indicator bars stay white. If I put it into airplane mode from there then back, they both go blue. Odd....

*EDIT*
It only seems to work for me when I'm connected to USB power...
I setup my wifes phone yesterday and then thought to check for the 4.4 update. Right now nothing appears to be happening. When I check for the update manually it says that there is an update already downloading and that I will be notified when complete. However, there is nothing in the notification tray to suggest anything is happening. This morning I woke up to a message saying that the download will complete once on wifi (but the phone was on wifi and working properly). That notification is now gone and same problem persists.
I've tried the obvious so far: Restart phone, try update using the Moto software via USB.
Level 1 tech support wants me to do a factory reset. Hoping to avoid that and the hour+ of setting up the phone again. Any thoughts? My phone is not rooted nor do I have plans to do so...
Since nobody seems to have any thoughts on this I decided to go ahead and factory reset the phone. Same exact symptom as before. Phone tells me there is an update available, I click download, nothing happens. Check the status a bit later and it says that an update is already in progress.
I'm starting to think that it's a problem with Recovery. Is it possible that these things will function normally with a broken or no recovery present? Went into fastboot and selected recovery. Instead of getting a factory reset I got a 'no command' error. Can't imagine it's possible to flash stock recovery if it's not rooted.

That's stock recovery, I think you need to hold down the volume button and then the power button and release, it should boot into recovery.

Hello,
I FINALLY convinced my wife to go Android. Got Nexus 7 2013 in August and she's gotten used to it. She's been IOS forever. So, her new moto x arrived Friday and we setup yestersday. Since she is OK with Nexus, the moto X will be good for her to move to. All is good EXCEPT the updates didn't download for some reason on activation yesterday. It showed it was downloading but to re-activate wifi. But, it was on?!!! Anyhow, she comes home today from her first full day at work with Triangle in notification bar to turn on wifi to download update. It's been over an hour with no movement and no status bar showing it's begun the download. I keep clicking for "system update" but says it's downloading... Status bar shows nothing other than update is ready and turn-on wifi.
Sounds like same issue as original poster. So far, wife is not happy with Android and her battery meter jumps all over place from 5% to 100%. Tempted to do factory reset but not a good way to start off as OP mentioned.
Any ideas or updates? Thanks

It seems like a dodgy or slow internet connection to me. Since you're still in download phase of the update, I don't think the problem is related to Recovery.

Wifi is not the problem. The internet is cranking and when I did the factory update it chewed through 20+ app updates in no time at all. Motorola has no idea how to help me... they just want me to send it in for repair. Such crap. I would love to try flashing stock firmware but can't seem to find any links that work.
Found the firmware. It appears my phone has the oldest build listed 139.9.51. Would it be okay to flash new build of 139.12.54?

I think this is likely a temporary fix. I figure there is bound to be at least one or two more OTA's well within the warranty period... so I'll found out then if there is some other problem that needs to be addressed. Right now when I check for an update it simply says that the phone is up-to-date.
4.4.2 should be around the corner I think...

Maybe it's a problem with the Motorola update servers...
I'm thinking that's probably the case since the cyber Monday promotion probably slammed them.
Glad to hear it's not just two of us..but still.... Sorry to hear of your problem too. Keep us posted.
Update on my wife's moto X. Still no update has been downloaded. She came home last night from work turn on wifi with triangle in notification. It said I have to turn on wifi to start download. It was already on have been on for a long time. So after a while I started to hit the Check Update button and also cleared the popup message telling me that one was being downloaded. (It's not) Did that routine several times. It did look like some WiFi activity was occurring based on WiFi x in symbol..but nothing. The message in notification eventually changed to the download status bar but stayed a 0 %
So, same story since initial setup on Sunday. Bummer. Not going to fiddle with any hackery. It should just work like my X does which is why she wanted it in first place and left Apple.
Will keep all updated.

Hello, I've had my G Watch R for not quite a full week so far and I've really enjoyed it. Two days ago, I believe that I let the battery die so I placed it on the charger before going to bed. When I woke in the morning i grabbed the watch off the charger without looking at it. Just before i stepped out the door i noticed that it wasn't waking up and It wouldn't even power on. I ran back and slapped it on the charger thinking that it would be more than charged by lunch time. Thats when i noticed the apparent boot issue you can see in the video attached. It hasn't been dropped at all and I have the basic apps installed; facer, watchmaker etc. At this point, Is there anything that I can try short of sending it back?
I've left it on the charger for 24+ hours, it gets slightly warm and stays in the boot loop. As soon as its taken off the charger it has no visible charge and refuses to respond to anything. I purchased it through amazon, so I'm thinking it shouldn't be an issue for me to return it...
http://youtu.be/GgF3iXAhTTI/
Sorry i tried to embed the video but the youtube link for xda seems to be breaking the url somehow
So I have already initiated the return process with amazon and it should be pretty painless. I have almost 3 weeks to send it back, so if anyone has any tips/tricks or ideas I'm more than open to try them....The watch is 100% stock as far as firmware or root is concerned.
Any luck with this? I just got back an RMA for a broken touch sensor, I don't want to have to RMA it again.
try to see if you can get in to the bootloader, and restart the watch from there
i have notice when i charge the watch from empty (so thewatch boots up while charging) it causes problems, usually boot loops as well
I just watched the video (should've done this before hijacking the thread, sorry) and it seems like I'm having a different issue. Instead, mine does the android boot animation, the goes to "Starting Apps" and counting ("x of y Apps"; the y value seems to be different every time), then "Staring Apps" with no count, then it says "Powering Off" and shuts off. But I will post my experience in case someone else with my issue finds this thread.
I'm back up & running today. I got it into the bootloader last night and put it on the charger before I went to sleep (to avoid battery rundown by bootlooping while it charges). I woke up this morning to it bootlooping again. I'm guessing that it restarted itself sometime during the night. I took it off the charger and let it sit for a while (it was pretty warm, so I figured it would be better to let it cool down before trying anything else). I tried to restart it again after about a half hour, but it still only got to "Starting Apps" before shutting off. I reflashed the stock boot, recovery & system images found here: Stock Boot, Recovery and System for G Watch R . I restarted it and completed the initial pairing process (due to wipe when I unlocked it in order to flash system image) and it is now working.
I don't know if what I did actually fixed anything or if it just decided to start working, but I will post again if something happens again. If you don't see any more replies from me, then all is still OK.
EDIT 6/22/15 9:53 pm EDT: No good, see below.
To workaround the bootloop while charging, you can boot into recovery (swipe 10 to 4 a clock while Logo is shown, select and press okay to recovery), than charge battery for a while, after that, you can boot to as normally to AW-system and charge to fully battery!
You can charge with USB on PC, it's work fine for me.

So your gwatch r started doing the same thing again? I have the same problem and it won't connect to the computer via fastboot or adb. How did you get on with the RMA? I cant send mine back due to voided warranty. Still hoping for a solution.
Have you tried taking it off the charger and booting it? Also are you running custom software?

So i took off the back plate, and found that the spring contact pins inside the watch weren't making good connections to the connect points on the inside of the back plate. Be careful, they are fragile, but you want to bend them out slightly. If you can source parts, get a new contact pin module.
After this, i was able to connect my watch and flash over stock firmware.
I can't guarantee this is what is happening with yours, but let us know if it does work.
I've scince broken the screen and can't find where to get parts!

I still haven't found a fix. My charging works fine, but no PC connection. The bootloader/fastboot wont come up, no logo or anything. I'm sure the EMMC chip is fried, it sounds like many are seeing this issue, some with a black screen and some with a snowy screen. I've had several galaxy phones do the exact same so I'm doubting it can be fixed without going to the manufacturer which mine came from redflagdeals and LG wont service the random online store purchases
I had to take the back off and clean and adjust the contacts that make contact through the back panel. Then I could connect via fastboot.

This solved my problem. As soon as I plugged it into my PC it booted just fine

Does anyone face this problem as well??
Whenever I plug in the charger, or even the USB type-c cable into my phone, if the other end is connected to any power source, my phone would freeze for a while and then restart.
Does anyone have an idea about this problem?
Have you tried different adapter/cable/USB port? How old is the phone? Using stock firmware?

Hay, my suggestion, backup all data, fully reset and format internal, i have this problem long ago, after update new firmware, escepcially if then place TWRP, doing root with magisk and kernel custom.

Yes, I have tried a bunch of cables, adapters and USB ports. I've tried one plus & Samsung chargers, tried plugging in the car, laptop and also some battery banks. There's nothing much I can do now. It seems that the moment the type c port is in contact of a current source, it freezes and eventually restarts.
The phone is almost a year old now, bought it last October. I started experiencing this problem in March. I have been living with it quite a while now. I was waiting if anyone else experienced this particular problem but it seems that no one has. The only freezing videos I saw were from another issue wherein the phone automatically restarts while being used. Mine won't restart abruptly, it would do that only when it actually touched a power source. But here I feel the problem is quite different.
I'm still using the stock firmware. I have tried factory resets and also followed the instructions on this link too.

Another issue is that I bought it in India last year, and now I'm located in Canada. I can't go back to India to get it fixed by ASUS since they don't provide an international warranty.

I might root it pretty soon and flash a custom kernel. But I hardly think it's gonna solve any problem
