Guys, I'm using CM roms for about a month now.
Started with stable 10.1.3 and stuck with it for a couple of weeks.
But huge battery drain over (every) night led me to try nightly 10.2, and yesterday I flashed nightly CM11.
I really like these roms, but I get 30 to 60% of my battery consumed over one night.
I used Better Battery Stats (BBS), and the baseband_xmm_power wakelock keeps my phone awake for about 90% of the time (I get only about 30 minutes of deep sleep during 8 hours).
The phone is laying still in a table, with only 2G network enabled. Wi-fi, mobile data, synchronization and 3G are off during all the night.
I'm using CM's default kernel for now, but I used iodak's v8 with 10.1.3 and 10.2, and the problem was the same.
Strangely, during the day, when using the phone and having other wakelocks, I barely notice baseband_xmm_power is BBS logs...
Is there any solution to this problem?
damn maaan... where you came from?? there are hundred of threads about it.... this is a known problem.. seems even cm11 official nightly has this pain.. !!BUT!! unofficial cm11 and omni kitkat seems dont have that problem but they are still WIP and only camera not working...
next time please search first

Earth calling! Is anybody there??
I'd like a little respect, alright guys?
I bought this phone last summer, and only in december I started using CM roms.
I've searched and read a lot of posts of users with this same problem, but haven´t really found a SOLUTION.
Also, I find it strange that not all users have this problem, even with the same config and in the same country, like this one.
So, instead of treating me bad for asking, could you point me to a solution that doesn't imply changing rom?
Thank you very much.

You obviously did not read enough.. Baseband wakelock is the single biggest problem on this phone and devs are trying to get rid of it since the phone was released! They say that in KK the wakelock is gone.. So try and see! They say that iodak9 resolved it.. Try and see! If you dont want to change ROM`s try different kernels and see which is the best for you. Not every ROM/kernel works good for everybody so you just have to try them out.
P.S. Nobody disrespected you or treated you bad, it just funny to me that people still ask about this problem after millions of threads and answers about it..
there is simply no simple fix for baseband wakelock which is a very random wakelock for all users.. i confirm up^

That's because there is NO real solution. If you have read as much as you claim to have done then you will already know that.

As above, there is NO solution other than changing to a ROM that doesn't have the problem. If there are variances then it may be caused by the service provider, the network polling, the wireless type, the baseband, many things that randomly affect different people different ways.
Alright, thank you all for your answers.
I'm using CM11 rom (KK 4.4.2) and the problem is still here.
I've flashed latest iodak kernel (v9), and will see tonight what happens.
I apologize for opening this thread, but all the posts about this problem that I read were already old, so maybe some newer solution could exist.

For a long while now an on many different roms I have noticed my phone rebooting at what appears to be random atleast twice a week.
It's never been when in a call and I often only notice it because I see the boot animation on my phone out of the corner of my eye while it was doing nothing but being sat on my desk! Also I know when it has done it because it has switched back to my default network which I am not normally on.
For me I have had it on everything from CM7 to Juwes to docs rom to stock. If this is not normal behaviour I fear that my phone may have a hardware fault
Post your random reboot experiences here!
My experience: rarely with Darky 10.1, I got one today with Juwe 5.1 but I installed this rom two days ago and still making some experiment.
Bye.
always close to stock cfroot only + own changes = never had issues ...
Both my husband and I get them at least twice a week also, we are on stock JVH that we got from O2 through Kies, not rooted or anything. we are thinking of phoning samsung tomorrow, we never had any of these on 2.2, so I think it must be software with us both getting them since 2.3. both our phones are still in guarantee, although if it is software I dont know what they can do
TBH I haven't actually been on a pure stock rom for quite some time. From what I remember I would get the occasional random reboot but probably not quite as often as I have done since turning to custom roms.
Could some fundamental change that many custom roms make cause this?
Or could perhaps a certain rogue app which I have had installed on many different roms be causing this?

Yes this is partly why I decided to create this thread and try to get to the bottom of it. My warranty runs out in 2/3 months and the paranoid side of me fears a hardware issue. I also started on 2.2 and don't think I got quite as many, if any, random reboots then which seems to coincide with your experiences.

Yeah our guarantee runs out in about 6 or 7 weeks which is why I thought of phoning them, my phone has been back once because the motherboard or whatever its called had to be replaced. do you think it could be hardware?

I have no idea. I'm starting to think probably not. so far 75% of people to this poll have reboots either daily or weekly. I think it could be a software bug in all gingerbread based roms but i really don't no. Would be interesting to flash back to stock froyo and see if it persists then.
Keep an eye on this thread and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this

question/thread title is "Does your phone suffer from random reboots?" so majorityof people that does not have any reboots/problems will not join to read so they will not vote
also by the thread title in some way youre determining the anserw yet still youve got 15 people voted (thats not authoritative + 350 thread openings...) & 33% of them said NEVER
I used to get random reboots on stock firmware, because samsung can't write software! Since running cm7 based software (insanity cm) I haven't had one single reboot, the stability is mindblowing and it is super stable, however it is not really for flashing novices, just my humble opinion

I'm with 2.3.4 JVP, and usually after an uptime of around 333 hours the phone reboots itself, happened twice...

Yes I do admit I haven't received the amount of feedback I was hoping for in this thread. And yes I am fully aware that polling on here is far from an accurate way of gathering data exactly for the reason you suggested but still I hoped to learn something about the extent of this phenomenon.
Also when I wrote that quote that you critisied for being inaccurate it was correct at the time. If not a little premature
However please feel free to share your experiences (or lack of) the topic in question.
I voted 'very rarely' - usually when running a buggy app that uses all RAM and CPU.
No reboots by itself so far.
to much, using dark core 2.6 , pilotx rom
Wow I thought I am the only who suffer with this..LOL...My phone is running JVO 2.3.3 and I updated it via Kies...no root no lagfix, quite a virgin Galaxy S..hahaah...
Very rarely, and it was only after this one time I had to swap batteries and didn't allow the phone to fully shutdown which must've caused some corruption. Even though I restored a backup certain things just seemed off and turned out I did had problems with reboots and so after that, most likely being the cause.
Besides that, after putting in a fresh ROM and whatnot, never had issues, not before the incident save once maybe.
I have changed to juwe 5.1 today from his 5.0. Was playing angry birds and left phone down for minute, then soon as screen locked it rebooted itself. Have not tried with other apps yet. Will post back when tried them out
So, i got my handset like one hour ago, and so far i gained root access and made a backup of my original rom. Now it's time to install CM7. So, i found this link, and Nightly 20 seems to be the latest version out there. Nightly, that word makes me think that it is kand of a unstable beta/alpha version? Any experiences with any of these versions? And also, what is the NOVA rom i keep reading about around in here?
Well, novaROM is another rom based on froyo, cm7 is based on GB and it seems that the most stable is n17
As said elsewhere nightlies are something like debian testing... the dev makes improvements, corrects bugs... the dev's guru validates by reading the code of the commits... the bot (alas down this time...) builds it... and we guys use it and report bugs.
Can't be said stable but working. Read all threads and make your mind. Oh, and since the bot is down, someone built the code himself, with the dev's agreeing. Call that private build 'kang'... seems good with aprold kernel v10. Give it a try. Make your own mind.

Thanks for feedback guys. ATM, i'm not sure if i need to change rom, i mean, i've gotten to change so much of the original rom now that it is beyond recognition. These are the apps i used so far:
- GO Launcher EX (With Notifications-extra)
- Minimalistic Text
- Super Status Bar
- WidgetLocker Lockscreen
I've also deleted a huge amount of LG stock apps using ES File Explorer, and i'm pretty happy about it so far. What i don't like is the colorful Dailscreens, i might have to look for some alternative there...
You can have them, I think. For example I made myself a zip with google's and my favorite apps so I don't have to reinstall and delete stuff everytime I try a new nightly. Next step is to backup preferences of each (and even put it in the zip...) and evetything's fine.
You'll get what you want by tryin. At least that's how I see it.
Well, after some more playing around now, i think i want to flash CM7, but i don't feel like using a nightly build, sounds to unstable for my taste. However, i'd really like a stabile GB rom (or ICS ). Isn't there any other one providing a stable solution? As stock or stripped as possible. Battery time is horrible with stock rom, hope this helps with a different rom...
Try cm nightly 17 with huexxx kernel... seems the less unstable but nothing more: no stable cm yet and maybe there won't for the dev seems to work now on ics... and still no lg stock gingerbread...
It's adventure or 2.2...
EDIT: In fact, redy's KANG seems the "stablest" or the less unstable with incomming call audio bug half fixed. Wifi bug with Nova or Huexxes...
I think we all need to accept the fact that battery drain is never going to be what we hope, it is the nature of the beast. All smartphone users (including iPhone) have the same complaint, but particularly our phone with its slim design (and therefore smaller battery) will never have long life unless you never use it!

please..the only thing i like about apple and its products is battery life..est they are just crap..with all those jailbreaks n ****..android rocks..and optimus black awsm..
bt i was thinking why devs left cm7 on nightlies..at least 1 stable rom should have been cme..well..its good to hear bout ics rom..hope it will cme soon
Well, how long will it take until Optimus Black gets CM w/ICS? I don't think P970 is on top of their priority list. About the battery, my LG lasts about 24h, while my HTC Desire lasts for 2-3 days, both sporting a 1 GHz cpu. Also, P970 has a marginal bigger battery, and HTC Sense is "bad for battery", that is common knowledge. I did read something about Beautiful Widgets draining battery as well, might uninstall it and see how it goes...
My little review about CM7 #20 with NOVAV11c Kernel by knzo. Sorry if it look like a noob review.
Overall nice, just like what I want of how android should, but without all google product of course.
Bug I got, quite laggy when OB connect to PC via bluetooth , wifi error when I turn it off meanwhile it connect to my PC via bluetooth, but when not, wifi are good
Battery: drain a lot in default governor and quite save in LIONHEART governor.
Antutu score: 26xx in default launcher and 2492 in GO LAUNCHER EX.
Btw anyone knows how to make it battery saver?
Hello there, seems you comes from the same country with me
Just remember that CM P970 is still under development, the source code hasn't completed yet, so don't expect too much Well, how many hours your battery life from 100% to 0%? As my regular usage, up to 24 hours till 30 hours lifetime. Battery saver depends on users experience.

I thought to bring this to everyone's attention https://plus.google.com/115049428938715274412/posts/gtGAn4BVvWs
Official nightlies have started for the T on CM 11. I had a quick play last night. It seemed okay, though I did notice the odd blue flickering. One thing I did notice is that the install package is around 30mb smaller than OmniRom. I didn't have time to give it a full test, so went back to OmniRom. I'd be interested to know what you guys think of it.
using 20131213 nightlies, so far so good, haven't encounter any blue screen and the rom is stable for use. ART still have many problem, and battery life is better than JB..:good::good:
Using FXP250 CM11, so far so good
I've been using official CM11 for the past 24 hours just to see what the most recent builds were like (the early builds werehugely unstable.) My impressions are that it's faster and smoother than OmniRom 4.4. I don't think it's placebo either. As far as I can gather, the official OmniRom builds are using older branches as the newer ones are breaking Nexus devices. I assume CM11 is using newer branches as the speed difference is very noticible. It's really nice to use. Also, it seems to have more features than Omni, though this may simply be that I've been using OmniRom for so long that CM's unique features are instantly noticible.
I haven't had any flickering so haven't had to disable HW. There's blue screens, but as most of us are aware, this isn't a rom issue but a kernel one and will hopefully be sorted when 4.3 is released.
There are bugs though. I can't get GPS or location to work. Everything is switched on but my location cannot be found. For me it's not a big one, and it may be device specific, but it is worth considering. Also, the battery is...well... inconsistent. Last night between midnight and 4am my battery dropped 40% while my phone was supposed to be asleep. I charged it again this morning and while it isn't as good as OmniRom, I'm currently on 77% after 4 hours. So yes. Battery inconsistent. Also, I had problems syncing with Google. Wouldn't let me when I installed the ROM, woke this morning to find it synced. A bit weird.
What else... I haven't had to flash superuser. Which is good. I also don't think that I'll have to reflash Gapps on each update. I'll find out tonight.
To summarise, it's a very fast ROM with a few bugs. I'll be interested to see what OmniRom is like on the new branches.

Great review. If you could let the battery settle down for a day or two and compare it to that of Omni it would be great! I am currently on Omni but cannot waste any bandwidth to dl cm unless it's worth it. So report back if possible.

I've been using it for 48 hours now. Omni's battery is better but by how much is difficult to say. I'd say I was a light user. Bit of web browsing here, an odd text there. I listen to a couple of hours worth of music on my way to and from work each day. I very rarely watch videos or play games. Each night I have to charge my phone, but I had to do this with Omni too. Right now for me the performance difference between the two ROMs is worth the poorer battery time. I know that battery is important for a lot of people, but as long as it gets me through the day then I'm good.
When I flashed last night's update via the phone's CyanogenMod update, I kept Gapps but seemed to lose CM's superuser status.
To be honest, OmniRom is excellent (it's the longest I've stayed with a single ROM since I first unlocked my phone), and when it reverts back to the newer branches then I'll go back to it.

Last update (developer rom) I thought I would do a fresh install. Since then it takes forever to charge my phone. Can anyone shed any light on whats going on I downloaded the latest version tonight and seems to be even worse. Charged for 4 hours only on 10%.
I have the same problem ! Glad I'm not the only one !
At first I thought it was the cable (and I'm still not 100% sure it isn't) but it looks like it comes from the phone.
I'm in holiday right now so I can't download an other ROM or try an other cable so I can't be sure but I just wanted to tell you that it seems like I have the same issue.
I'll try to fix this and update here

Charged with phone switched off, back to normal so must be software issue. Today seems to be running hot and battery draining quick, turned on profiles or battery saving and seems to have cooled down. It's definitely not the cable tried others and same results.

Yeah after the latest update mine is running hot as well...
Just charged for 2 hours phone on only up 2%
So which version are we running ?
Which one is stable ?
Right now I'm on 5.7.16 and I charge very slowly like 2% per 30 minutes so this version is not good enough.
Is someone running the newest version ?
Is 5.7.2 stable ?

Had a stable rom on phone so just flashed that at work and all is well again, charging as normal.
Unfortunately I can't use stable ROMs as I'm a MIUI beta tester so I get all the bugs but so far I haven't had many problems apart from one bootloop when I updated to 5.7.22

Battery life is excellent.
I'm still around, checking this forum from time to time. Looks like its all dead.
I wondered if there is anyone out there still using this phone daily, like me.
If there is anyone, please share your ROM info too. Which ROM is the best for your liking?
I'm still using X-Los13_p880-ufoFFICIAL-201904CVE--1c6ea70874 since 01-2020.
Yep. I'm still around, too. And checking from time to time, too.
But, in the last years all is going veeery silent. That's not surprising, i guess.
My 4X HD is already in daily use, too... and i am using X-Los13 201711 (last version with QR).
Alternative is AOSP Nougat 7.1.2 or CM13/MM 6.0.1 quite good (if you don't need QR).
But... i see, you already know that!
PS: My secret favorite was always SlimKAT 4.4.4 build 9 (after Rom, install the Cyodak-X3-Kernel (!)).

Wow! Thanks for the reply.
Devs were active at the peak of Kitkat era so our device has a wide variety of KitKat based roms. I've tried many rom+kernel combination back in the day. Now 4.4.4 become completely obsolete for me as some of my -must have- apps. forcing Android 5+.
I didn't try Slimkat 4.4.4 build 9 with Cyodak X3 though. I'll try it sometime for fun!
Latest CM13 is a performance monster. If I remember correct, it also has codec tweaks too. Allowing for better bitrate video recording and/or stereo sound on recorded videos. Main drawback is unstable.
AOSP 7.1.2 is the highest Android version available for our device but it's dull AOSP.
@oF2pks 's Linage is like a balanced medium. Performance is good and it's very stable for daily use. 30+ days runtime without rebooting is almost always possible.
Do you have any GPS related issues?

Sorry for my very, very my late response.
Sometimes, i use my P880 vicarious for Navigation (or for Geo-Caching) and i had never problems with GPS.
Works fine for me.
I agree with you. But with X-LOS13 i noticed that when there are more and more apps on the smartphone, booting takes longer and longer (like 5 minutes) and also generally slows down. To counteract this, i've started sorting out apps that shouldn't be booted with a reboot (i.e. only run if you open them by yourself). With this I could e.g. reduce the boot time to 3 minutes. The disadvantage, however, it takes longer to start the app (because its not preset in RAM by booting).
PS: I loved SlimKat 4.4.4. Unfortunately, there are no new apps backwards compatible (SDK/API20).

I had to re-flash LOS13 several times from this reason too.
The last time however, I needed QR code so I flashed Euphoria 5.1.1 latest 20160208 and still using it.
Raised the max. CPU freq. to 1700 too. No signs of slow down yet.
Hi! Good to see some activity!
I want to repair my old LG. The screen and touch are trashed and the battery is puffed. I found an almost free screen with LCD and battery and I'll repair it.
I remember I tried so many ROMs in this phone... The best performer was the Mourta's 4.4.4, but the battery consuption was bad. I ended up flashing the stock firmware 4.1.2, but it was still usable back in the day. Today is useless.
Just booted my P880
