Hi.
I just switched from my galaxy s advance to the Motorola moto g.
Where I live the Galaxy s advance is still more expensive than the new moto g.
Moto g has better CPU, GPU, display size and resolution, update to 4.4.2 kitkat, louder speaker.
Galaxy s advance has micro SD card slot and changeable battery, which both the moto g has not. There is only a 8 and a 16gb version.
I don't know about the other phones but maybe there are phones from "wiko" available where you live, you find phones in their product range that have similar pricing and specifications like the moto G.
I'm glad that i left the galaxy advance for the Motorola, it's so much faster and better. And touchwiz from Samsung is too overloaded for me.
Sgsa vs moto g:
CPU: 1ghz dualcore vs 1,2ghz quad core
RAM: 768mb vs 1gb
Display: 4inch 480*840 vs 4,5inch 720*1280 (the phone has nearly the same size)
Battery: 1500mah vs 2070mah
USB-otg: no vs yes
Os: 4.1.2 jb vs 4.4.2 kitkat
Just some information about the specs.

I am 1.5 yrs old user of N7000.
I recently bought Galaxy S advance.
Price difference is 10000 INR (200 USD)
But no major hardware difference.
Same dual core cortex A9 clocked at 1ghz. I used note at 1ghz for better battery.
Same screen technology with 4 inch vs 5.3 inch.bl but no black clipping vs black clipping in note.
No spen.
Same camera lens with 5mp vs 8mp. No new technology. No major difference in photo quality. I am a good photographer.
Same 4.1.2 with smart stay etc.
Same 16 Gb internal memory.
Does that mean sammy is fooling its customer or I am missing something.
s advance only has 768mb ram, plus it uses novathor chip, whereas note uses sammy's own exynos.
That does not explain the difference of Rs 10000 or 200USD.
Bigger Screen
Higher Resolution 800x1280
Better Camera 8MP (2MP front)
S Pen and Wacom Digitizer (Touch and S Pen recognition
Bigger Battery (2500mAH)
FYI: Samsung has many types of the GALAXY series.
FYI 2: Wrong section.

The screen size itself & s-Pen clearly explains the difference.
Or find another phone with them. There's no real competence for the Note series, you're misjudging hardware specs for the main - exclusive - features.

I'm looking for a secondary phone for my Note and wondered whether the Moto G will actually outperform our Note?
I was specifically looking into the performance differences between the Notes dual A9 vs the Moto G's Quad A7. I read that our A9 is a little more advanced but can't find any benchmarks.
For £130ish it seems a steal!

In terms of performance then the Moto will smash the Gloat™.
My bet is that it is faster, or in other terms snappier and smoother than the Note. It's only £130 so I would just get it.

Keep in mind that Motorola has also hardware-optimised its version of Android for their devices.
Look at the Moto X; the real-life performance of its dual-core processor was comparable to Snapdragon 600 devices, and its GPU outperforms the Galaxy S4.
So I would say go for the Moto G.
As the title states, now I know that our devices say that they support up to 64GB but I have seen other phones (a long time ago, Desire HD and the like) using memory cards they were never designed to be used with, just wanted to know if anyone had tried it and if so how did it go? Did it work did it make the phone any slower?
Sandisk has said that it's compatible but i'd just like to hear what people have experienced.
Cheers.

Would anybody seriously spend £100 on an sd card, you'd be better putting that £100 into the 32GB or 64GB versions

I highly doubt that it'll stay that price for long once it becomes mainstream, with 4K video set to become the standard over the next few years i'd expect people to be picking this sized memory card up soon so yea if you want to get in there early then 100 quid isn't that bad.
Bare in mind that the jump between iphone memory sets is £100 when a new one is released check the prices, 16GB 32GB and 64GB all £100 difference between them.
So not only would people pay this but they do already.
Not to mention that if you roll back time a little the 64GB card wasn't exactly cheap when it came on the scene.
Also this thread is a question, not a general discussion.
There's a huge difference between buying a 16GB-64GB phone, than buying a 16GB phone then buying a 128GB sd card, especially with kitkats limitations with sd cards

I don't know m8, i've been using foldermount for the really big apps and it's been superb up until now.
There isn't an app out there that I can't mount onto the SD with foldermount, not to mention the sheer amount of media that could be put on a 128GB sd card.
Plus if you've not used one then youre not answering my question either

I am so attempted to buy that card, and soon or later I will.
I have the card and is working fine. All I can say is that isn't fast. Max speed you will have is about 15/20 Mb/s writing(Rarely) as the Mobile Ultra. Honestly I prefer my 16 Gb Extreme Pro(I have had 104 Mb/s writing files).

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm merely saying that for the average user, anything more than a 32GB or 64GB is too expensive, and yes the price will come down, but then they'll develop 256GB, how long before we have terabyte cards? They already do terabyte pen drives but they're not affordable to the average user

Lol get some sleep mate, try it when you've got a few zzZZZzz's
I'll look into SDFix, it appears to be a very clean looking app, but as for the modification that it does, does it extend the usage of your internal memory or simply put the rules of the SD card back to the way that it was on 4.3 and previous versions? That's kind of what it says on their play store page.
If thats the case then it is different to folder mount which literally enables you to grab a folder from within your internal stoage and move it to the ext card then the previous folder can be deleted, 100% space back.

Yea you're right i'm not disputing that mate, i've already got a 64GB myself. Picked it up for £38 when they were just becoming mainstream.
All I wanted to know was what people experience was with them, I honestly don't care about the price or whether or not it's too big for some people, everyone's different.
Also I don't need to re-read your post, I read your statement, which was no answer to what I had asked, it was simply your opinion and of no help to me, sorry.
128GB SD-Card speed issue on 4.4.4
I bought my 128gb-card yesterday and I noticed a HUGE speed difference between android 4.3 and 4.4.4. On 4.4.4 it's EXTREMELY slow, but the speed is good on 4.3. Anyone else facing this issue? My Roms are: 4.4.4 - slimkat AMD (evo 9) and 4.3 - romaur 1.2.
Try installing pimp my z1 and change some SD card read ahead and some different I/o schedulers

Hello,
Right now I have Galaxy Note N700, the original Note, and I am considering buying the new Moto G.
Do you consider this as an upgrade over my 3 year old phone specs wise?
When I compare it in GSM Arena, they are almost identical except for the processor which is Exynos 4210 for my old Note and Snapdragon 400 for the Moto G. When I google their differences, it seems that the Exynos chip is still more powerful than the Snapdragon 400 but the former is Dual Core 1.4 GHz Cortex A9 while the latter is Quad Core 1.2 GHz Cortex A7.
So is this a worthy upgrade? Because I do not wana buy expensive phones anymore, I will be needing it for call and texts, FB, browsing and some light gaming only.
Thank you!
Buy Moto G Asap!!
Upgrade Your Phone!! Buy Moto G (2nd Gen) cheap price. and smooth than butter. very fast phone. its feel like nexus phone. Moto G is Awsum device. with upgrade Garenty From motorola. Moto G also will get android lemon pie(5.0) on Jan to Feb. :good:
The Moto G is worth every dollar. Is go for it. It runs smooth, has a nice size and great build overall.

The Asus ZenFone 5 has piqued my interest. More RAM, faster processor, same display, same with MicroSD slot.
Asus Zenfone 5 may not get the Android L update.
What to buy...
I have a get a "cheap phone" and a "expensive Tablet" attitude.

If you are happy with your Note, software is ok and everything els is fine, I would stay on Note
It will probably be an experience upgrade, because the Moto software is very light. I have touchwiz on a Note 10.1 (2014) and the Samsung bloat sucks. That said, my advice is get a first-gen G 16GB model while they are still available cheap. My impression is aside from not having expandable storage, it is a better phone (all same specifications except screen size, but the resolution did not improve). If you are willing to hold-off a bit and wait for a new mid-price phone option, the new Nexus should be out within a month or 2.
It is a worthy upgrade from the original G and the old Note. You will get Android L with this device as well. Read my review here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55536919
Just remember this is a budget phone at $180, when the Note came out it was $800. In any case it's still a better phone because of stock Android and useful Motorola additions. The new Nexus will probably be $400. (I don't think it will be $349 this time).

I have moved from the N7000 to a G and it's great, initially I wanted the bigger screen, but the whole package on the G is faster smoother and generally easier to use, not so much stuff you won't ever use! It also fits in your pocket easily.
At the prices of the G at the moment try it, you will be surprised
I will skip on the original G since I really need the SD Card slot. That is why I am considering Moto G 2014.
I am using SlimKat now on my Note I. It lags but it is acceptable compare to when I flashed a JellyBean stock rom.
What is limiting for me with the G 2014 is the 1GB ram, because right now with my Note, it cannot handle a lot of apps. It will always open a new app and not from where I left it.
e.g.
The Chrome browser is really slow on my Note, not slow because of internet connection but slow because it just lags a lot.
Plays Youtube with stutters.
Facebook after clicking on an external link and returning to FB will start from the top.
I am also looking at Asus Zenfone 5, another value for money device.
I like the specs but there is no dedicated XDA thread for this device. It means no development.
The reason I am still holding on to my GNote and still acceptable for daily use is because there is still few developments happening, I still got Kitkat.
In that case, I would recommend a bigger jump and get a mobile phone with 2GB of ram
At Moto G's price point, do you recommend any other than Asus Zenfone 5?
Hello, I am in need of a new mid range phone. I have two phones in range i.e. Moto G 2014 and Samsung Grand Prime. I don't know which one to choose. Personally I want to get MOTO G 2014 but then the 64-bit processor and better camera makes me want to go for Grand Prime. I don't really need the camera though. But I really like the stereo speakers and build quality of MOTO G. And then again the Grand prime has a 2600 mah battery(which i have heard is not enough for this phone and i dont know how it compares to the MOTO G 2014). I am right now in a big dilemma, PLEASE HELP!

Would be a good choice. My personal opinion:
-Don´t buy anything with less than 2 GB of RAM
-Don´t buy the samsung.

Well Moto G Gen 3 has LOST the stereo speakers.............. that the Moto g 2nd Gen 2014 has..............
thanks everyone
i have a moto g 2014
i think the moto g series its very good for you i have the 2014 version and im very happy with it .
moto g 2015 its better 2gb ram version better hardware but lost the stereo speakers .
i love my moto g 2014 i installed viper4android and sounds very goooood i love it
so buy as you want moto g 2015
I'll buy it when I have money (moto g 2015 2gb ram)
I would also suggest going with the Moto g 2014 (if you are on a low budget you can get a second hand quiet cheap) of the Moto g 3rd gen with 2gb of ram. I would stay away from Samsung (personal preference). Nothing beats stock Android in my opinion.
Dont buy 1 gb ram phones at this tym
Of course if he has the option the 2gb model is the best hands down .
