So bought my T-Mobile version about 2 weeks ago and since I got it the speaker quality is crap. I have to hold it to my ear to hear it and its crackly and sounds awful. I don't know if there was water in it or not but I've had it two weeks with no moisture exposure at all. Considering replacing the speaker but thought I'd post this first to see if anyone has a solution to my issue. Any help would be great.

Recently noticed a slight buzzing sound coming from just behind the Xperia logo on the back of the Z when you knock on it (or place it on a table). When I asked the guys at the Sony store, it turns out that all the Xperia Z models there all have that buzz when you knock on it. Can anyone else confirm if they've got this too?

After reading you post I tried knocking on the back at the center but no, I don't hear any buzzing sound

Really? It's not very loud so if you hit the back with your fingernails, it's almost inaudible, but if you use the meat of your fingers, it becomes distinctive. I hope it's not just my country that gets these ones...

I tried a couple time with harder impact and I think I now understand what you were talking about. It's a buzzing sound indeed, but mine is quite minimal,(almost like you have to listen to it extremely carefully) I would say those are the sounds from the glass and the thing whatever it is contacting with.
My phone is naked without any case or shield, but I never hear these buzzing sounds ever when I put the phone on the table.

Ah yeah, that's the sort of thing mine is giving off, although mine buzzes when I put it on a table. Must be a design flaw on Xperia Z models or something

I put the phone close to my ears and hit the screen with my fingers with a fair amount of strength. No buzzing whatsoever.
It seems to be occurring nearer to the camera lens than the Xperia logo. Where did you get yours, and when was it manufactured?

Beating the sh*t out of mine ... didn't hear any buzzing sound but now my glass is broken ...... sorry just kidding I just hear a "tick" which comes from the cameralens i assume.
No buzzing or sound on mine.

Oh actually that would make sense. It does seem like something around the camera lens is loose, so that could possibly be the cause...
Seems like there are certain ones which do have a loose camera lens and some that don't. Does anyone know if they would exchange mine for a new one if I can prove that it's a bit of a manufacturing flaw? Mine buzzes quite a lot and it's driving me crazy...
I think that the powerbutton makes the sound. Maybe it is a little bit loose?
Nah it's definitely coming from around the camera

Me too i have a little buzz next to the camera but i think it's the camera's auto focus.annoying but not a big deal.

Well actually this is correcly designed. The cameralens is kind of "loose" because of the "focus" functionality.
Just found it a bit strange as I've never seen (or heard rather) camera lenses that have moved around within itself...

It's the autofocus. Absolutely normal, all phones have this.
Hi All,
Since the past two days, whenever someone calls and I pick up the phone, the sound comes through the speaker, i.e. very high. I have to reduce that sound using the volume buttoms. This happens with only a few calls, not all. I have a screen protector on the phone, as usual.
I have restarted, reset, etc. to no success.
Can anyone suggest what the problem is?
Thanks
Are you using any sound mod?

I have done that yesterday as well. No luck. The problem still persists.
mine is like that as well. i can hear it even in the back of the phone... I checked clearsound and uncheck xloud and it got a little better but i still need to turn down the volume to people not listen to my conversation :x
when you state "speaker" you are referring to the speaker on the bottom right?
or do you mean the vibration through the back (near the camera area)?
edit: just did a test, it feels like its coming out from the speaker speaker but its not, the sound feels like its actually coming from the near back. I guess its not sealed tightly or just xperia z has really good loud earphone speaker.
No i was talking about the call speaker. Sry if i misunderstood

Flash another ftf file and see if the problem still persist.

I made an underwater recording video in my sink for YouTube and when I was watching it back I noticed that the sound got a LOT less loud :/
Anyone know a solution?

You have to wait for the speaker cover to dry properly.
It will come back to normal once its dried.

Are you sure? It's been 2 hours now ..
Have you had a similar experience?
It can take a while to dry. 2 hours is short.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
The manual says to let the speaker dry for at least 3 hours before using it again.
Although, it's fairly obvious that hardly anyone that has the phone has even glanced at the manual

See no sweat it just takes a while to dry. Sony here in Germany Berlin said to me that if it isn't better after a day so like 24 hours then there is problem.

So my HTC One speakers are unusually quiet. I've been researching it but I can't find a clear answer. Basically my girlfriend can blast the entire house with her S3 speakers and I can barely cover the bathroom with mine lol. Turning Beats off doesn't make much of a difference either. My friend with the phone says his is too loud and other forum posts say the same. Before I backup everything and take it back..is this a confirmed issue? Thanks guys

One speakers should def be loud, louder than s3 fo sho.

My one was so loud it blew out the speakers lol! Just got my replacement the other day.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4
I would back up everything and do a full reset then test the phone

Tried to do everything and nothing fixed it, so I took it back to Sprint and they ordered a replacement for me. She played youtube on my phone and youtube on their demo phone and it blew mine away lol...
Hi guys my gear is suffering from very low sound volume from the speaker, I can hear it its just very faint. It used to work fine, here is my set up ...stock NA3 which I have since downgraded to stock mk7 I also downgraded the gear manager and have performed multiple resets nothing seems to help. Is my only hope to send it to Samsung? it works, i just can't hear the bloody thing!

Anybody?? My 1st thought was software issue but I'm now thinking hardware issue

Did you get water in it?
I don't think so though but I guess it's possible. ... It's in for warranty repair at the moment, I will update when I get it back. On a side note I find myself really missing the convenience of staying in touch with the world at the flick of the wrist, after having a smart watch I can't imagine myself ever not owning one.

Okay, I called Samsung last Friday morning and by Saturday morning they had sent out the return envelope... Posted Monday morning and have just received a brand new watch and cradle back from them! So 6 days in total from 1st contact to new watch on my arm, THANK YOU VERY MUCH SAMSUNG.

Do you happen to have the contact information for them? Mine is doing the same thing. I don't think it's a water issue either. Thanks a million

I think I may go to best buy and mess around with their watches and compare sound levels. See if it's normal to be lower or if mine is just low. I feel they should have included the speaker on the actual strap facing you (opposite the camera).

Maybe some funk got in the speaker hole or the speaker itself got inverted somehow.

I blew some compressed air into the speaker and it seems to be louder now.
Hope this helps someone else in this position.
