Someone offered to trade me his LG G2 + $100 for my Note 3. Would any of you consider doing that? I can't decide. The only thing holding me back is the resale value of the Note 3.

Why would you wanna trade it?
what is the resale value of LG G2?
what is the resale value of your N3?
I did it recently and I'm back on note 3 . Don't do it imo the LG g2 lags and stutters it's only o 4.2.2 and it needs work. The note 3 is where it's at and plus CES is going on there will be new stuff on the way the note is worth more anyhow around 550 resale still. In other words stay for a while

I've been offered the same deal. My bro n law has the G2. It's a nice device, but just can't bring myself to give up on this beast of a beast!!!
I'm thinking LG and the carrier partners will soon abandon software support for the G2. There are rumors that the G3 is almost ready for market, with the fact that everyone is watching what Samsung is doing the GS5, LG might do an early release. The AT&T model of the G2 has CarrierIQ onboard and actively collecting data. I would say that's otherwise not too big of an issue, but from what I'm reading there's a pretty serious battery drain flaw with how CIQ operates the GPS in the phone. Plus other issues which I think will take awhile to be sorted out.
The G2 is a really nice device that failed to find an audience and will suffer support-wise as a result.

No shock there, the LG G Pro AT&T model had Carrier IQ and it would ping the GPS constantly. Heaven forbid you were inside out of satellite view, it would just run your GPS ragged trying to get a lock. Oh and LG not releasing any software updates is the norm. Ask any G Pro or Optimus G owners.

i recently got an LG g2 for 250 on craigslist. got it because it was cheap, then resold it for 375, for profit to go towards my note 3, which i now have.
EDIT: no one around my area was willing to do LG G2 + cash for note 3.
Yea the g2 resale is horrible and will only become worst with rumors of the g3 on the horizon, I sold one last week for 400 on swappa I was surprised I got that much for it.

I've absolutely bashed LG for every phone they made because in all honesty, theyre crap. They are horrible cell phone manufacturers and they should stick to TV's.
After seeing the Optimus4X I was pretty impressed, but it was an LG so I wouldnt buy it anyways.
Then I saw the Optimus G. Hmmmmm theyre getting somewhere, the specs are there and the phone actually looks nice. But its STILL an LG.
Then the Nexus 4....holy cow this thing is amazing. PRICE, specs, build quality (that i can tell from videos)
But its an LG...........
IDC
The fact that it doesnt have LTE or a removable battery or expandable storage was nothing new. They had already said that it was not going to happen. Except for the LTE I mean. Thats not that important. Only ATT is a GSM carrier with LTE right now and they hardly have any. So pretty much no one cares..
BUT ITS AN LG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could just care less. Maybe they had to use them to keep the price down. Its ok Google. With that firepower, it could be a ZTE or something crappy like that and I would still buy it. Put a case over it and cover that branding LOL.
But all in all, how can you hate a phone this cheap with these specs from Google?
If you do, im sorry but go away. go buy an iphonecrap
I was literally about to pay full price for a galaxynote2. but then this was announced.
I can buy 2 of these if i want for the same money.
Enjoy the phones my friends. I will.

LGs typically sucked because of the horrible software builds. This being a nexus pretty much eliminates that big issue.
The s4 pro has great battery. The optimus g gets 8 hours screen on. The issue is the prerelease software the reviewers got. Expect the final version to do similar if not better the optimus g.

I'm in the same boat, always bashed LG ever since I recommended the original LG Optimus (A budget phone when it came out) to two friends and never heard the end of it.. apps were crashing without reason, the whole phone would lag up randomly and it was just chaos, I ended up installing CM7 on them both and it stopped some but not all problems.
I didn't even pay attention to the LG market up until recently, I thought well if it's LG then it will have a childish UI and be built for idiots. Wow was I wrong with this one. I haven't been this impressed with the design of a phone since I got my iPhone 4 on launch day. The iPhone 4, if anyone remembers is the only iPhone that I actually appreciate because it was completely different and built to look good while remain more powerful than the competition at the time.
I am going to buy the Nexus 4 as soon as I can and hope that it's just as good as the hype makes it out to be, I've already found a buyer for my S3 i9300 (not LTE version) for a cool $400 which gives me enough money to get the 16GB for $399 here in Australia and only spend $20 on shipping. But if it's anything like the original Optimus, this phone will be finding a place in a drawer and I'll go back to Samsung, Exynos sources/documentation or not.
TL;DR This phone better be good or else my newly regained faith in LG will diminish as quickly as it came.

I'm still using my LG Optimus. It's been the most reliable phone I've had. I've thrown this thing, quite literally, across rooms before, and it's 2 years old and I've yet to put a single scratch on it. Development has been amazing, I'm currently running a completely stable CM9 on it, and there is MIUI, AOKP, CM10, CM7, CNA, you name it, that are all slightly less stable. It might not be the best phone in the world, but it's good. My phone before this was a non-android LG phone, and it was pretty solid too. Software sucked (it was a feature phone. All software sucked for them lol) but once again, the build quality was solid. So far, I've only had good experience with LG Phones, and I'm guessing this Nexus will be a fine addition.

Oh and BTW... just to help you with electronics... LG produces ****ty TVs...
does this phone support micro sd card?
No but I hear people are fine with that since it has 128gb internal memory, LTE and a reinforced aluminum back and dual removable battery

I am really bummed about our locked bootloader. I forced the N2 update with out researching first. I've tried the warranty replacement but it came shipped with 4.4.2.
I had the most difficult time deciding between the Flex and the Note 3. But I need the opinion of such a well respected community. Do you think it's worth the trade. Is the flex equal to the note?

The LG G Flex didn't really feel like a phone I wanted. At the time, I didn't know I was searching my next phone, but I helped choose the Note 3 over the G Flex, which ended up becoming my phone as a gift. The G Flex has a 720p display, awkward UI, etc. I think the Note 3's internals alone shouldn't make this a conversation because of a better RAM chipset and a better display.
I also updated without thinking lol I just bought my note 3 yesterday and like a fool I updated but whatever a root will come so I'm not worried

Hi all,
Thinking about taking advantage of my available jump upgrade and going to the Note 4. The biggest thing that is making me want to do that is the oversharpening effect that is present on the G3. For whatever reason, LG decided to artificially sharpen their screen and it makes the quality of things like text and icons look terrible because of a halo effect that is generated. Has anyone that currently has a G3 gotten a chance to compare the devices? If so, does Samsung have anything similar happening on their screen? I would go to Best Buy myself and look, but there aren't any on display at the one local to me.

I wish I remembered the source, but I read somewhere that Samsung did NOT do any over sharpening. I distantly remember them comparing it to the G3 and saying it was far better. From what I could tell at Best buy (their G3 was just a dummy, but the note 4 was working) the screen was fantastic. Easily the best I've ever seen.

Awesome. That is my biggest gripe with the LG G3. 75% of the time the text looks awful because LG decided to go gimmicky and ruin the screen. Looks like I know what I'll be doing on the 17th. My ETF reimbursement should be here by then so I'll just use my Jump.
I own a G3 and went to a best buy today and played with the Note 4. To me i like the G3 screen better the phones has the same resolution Note is bigger which means less pixels per inch but both screens are great. I was suprised how nice the shape of the Note 4 is doesnt feel bulky or to big kindve like the Note 3 did at first to me.
I believe I saw some hacks that fix the oversharpening. So if that's the only reason, you might want to do some googling to see if it saves you some money.
I want to switch because G3 overheats when using GPS an charging at the same time. Just waiting to see if there are any major issues with Note 4 and when root and accessories (Qi cover) become available.

Hi,
Would love to know where you came across the hacks. I've googled but no real joy. There is one to disable hardware overlay and increase resolution by one but it did not work for me.
Sharpening is the only gripe I have. I absolutely hate it, there's no reason for it, and LG will not answer my mails on the issue. The min brightness on the G3 is too high compared to other phones so apps like LUX only highlight the sharpening.
I have no over heating on GPS while charging though.
Literally can not wait to dump the G3. I'm on my second one. I don't think I've ever owned a device I hated more. Love the camera though. Note 4 can not come fast enough. One of my favorite devices ironically was the G2. Go figure.
Im moving on from the lg g3 too for no other reason than ive had notes before and imo its the best phone samesung makes.

g3 soon to be NOTE 4
I too am in the box of deciding between the G3 and the note 4. I LOVE this G2. No complaints at all with it. But oddly enough my opening questions about the note are..
-does the rooted version include a knock on/off feature?
-is there a notification dropdown quick key like the one used on the g2?
Had the Note 4 since Monday last week, from the LG G3. So happy. Can't say enough good things.
I had lg g2 and lg g3 now note 4 I believe lg g2 to me qorked better than lg g3 for me battery drained faster only had like 2 and a half on screen time and phone died wifi kept cutting out on same place note 4 has service so for me note 4 is great love it
As you can see below I've had a lot of Samsung phones. Never had a problem with any of them even after flashing ROM's, Kernels and radios. My note 3 went for a ride in the washer back in July and ruined it. So I replaced it with a LG G3 and really love the phone. No over heating or lag like others have complained about. No yellowish or blueish screen. Knock on is great, camera is great, so I had no intentions on buying the Note 4. Today I went to best buy to get a pair of Bose QC25 headphones and just happen to walk by the Samsung kiosk and there was a working Note 4. So I picked it up and played with it a minute and right of the bat I realized that I missed having an AMOLED screen. Before I left Best Buy I called 6 T-Mobile stores here in the Tampa area and not a 1 had the Note 4 in stock. So I came home and ordered one online. After I checked out I got the back ordered message So i guess I'll be a Note user again whenever it arrives. Said 10/30, so we'll see. Glad to see there's root available already.
There is a few minor software glitches but no show stoppers. Note 4 is an excellent device. I almost had my m8 paid for so I bought a Sim adapter and switch between the m8 and note 4. M8 is crazy butterly smooth and fast , the note 4 a little slower but is not lacking in any thing and will be on top in its class with updates for at least a bit. LG g3 is a decent device as well but the note 4 in my opinion takes the cake.
I'm on the fence to replace G3 with a G4, so was hopi g to get some input from those that are rollin with a G4.
Now that root is done, @micromod has dropped a rom looks like a time to decide G4 or G3?
Any constructive thoughts are appreciated.
Tia,
hud

With the price drop right now is a really good deal. Only $480 vs the original of $600.

this is my first LG phone, my friend tells me that the upgrade from G3 to G4 isn't worth the change. The battery life on this phone goes way to fast considering the large battery. I mean i use my phone on the train to work and i lose 30% of my battery in my 15 min ride, from what i read, they say its because of the processor, if had a choice, i would had just stood with my M8, but it cracked in time for my upgrade. The only thing keeping me from selling this phone is the promotion for a spare battery.
I'm not here to make the phone look bad, to be honest, its a beautiful device. Ill most likely wait for CyanogenMod, but I'm not about to harass the forums about release dates.
I have migrated from G3 to G4 because I want B12 which is rolling out in NYC.
In fact, the difference between G3 with 5.x and G4 isn't that much, but you may have better music and video experience with G4 because the speaker is better and louder.
Tempered glass plate for G3 will fit G4 with some space on both top and bottom, but the cutouts are exactly same.
Quadrant is similar on both, but Antutu gets better result on G4 thanks to 64bit architecture.
In short, if your area will have or is having B12 service, G4 is your better option, but if not, the difference is not much.
With the price drop, I did it last week. I did notice the speaker is much better and the camera is quicker. I haven't had it long enough to be able to say about the battery. My thing was that my G3 had cracks around the mic and IR blaster and they bugged me.

600 wasn't realistic for a cheap plastic body that has an old version ram and retarded processor. 400 is the real value of this phone.

Speaking of battery, G4 is similar with G3 according to my usage scheme. However, it may take couple of days to make it settle down.
BTW, you can transfer most of the things (apps, personal data, text and MMS, and most of the apps with data) from G3 to G4 using LG Backup Tool, but you may reboot couple of times to successfully restore.
coming from a G3 I think it's worth the upgrade. There's no oversharpened screen and it's much faster. People figured it would be slow just because they didn't go for a 810 but real world usage suggests otherwise. Performs better than my S6 at least and has longer battery life. I don't get the lag that I had with the G3. Camera is better and the build is certainly better than the G3, especially the frame.
I owned the lg g3 and g4. Battery life on them are about the same.
Some quick mods that are available on some xda forums fixes the touch problems that some may experience..
With the extra battery I can go two days without being worried about charging the phone.
I love the camera. Best one thus far.
The screen looks flawless too! And I got it for 480 which is even better!
It rocks. Do it, only if you love your g3 and want those little extra perks like camera, faster processor, better screen, and better speaker.

There just isn't that much or enough of a difference between the two devices to really make it worth a full priced upgrade. They feel the same in your hand, except for the material if you're opting for leather and also, in my opinion, better designed volume and power buttons.
If you're strictly running your phone on the stock UI, though, it might be an improvement since the G4 does run smoother overall than the G3 does when it's completely stock. However, in my experience, a completely stock G4 will occasionally have a fit of lag so bad that it makes the phone unusable for more than a few minutes unless you pull the battery. I've never had problems like that with my G3. Ever since rooting, though, and removing bloat, I don't have any lag whatsoever.
Another benefit of the G3, unless you absolutely prefer LG's UI, is the number of ROMs available. A G3 running an AOSP or CM based ROM still performs better than a G4 on a good day.
The G4 is an amazing phone still. I just think, given the opportunity, I'd save my money and keep my G3 as my daily. I wouldn't miss out on anything. I feel like I'd get more of a fresh experience had o waited for the Moto X. And I would have saved money.

G3 wasn't enough phone for me, Nexus 6 was/is awesome. I bricked my G4 F500L, traded my Sony Xperia Z3v + $140 for another Nexus 6, Love it. But I missed the G4, so I bought another, this time a H811, for less than I sold my G3 for originally.
Actually, as I mentioned, it makes more sense for T-Mobile customers, especially in B12 active area or where is deploying, than other carriers to upgrade from G3 to G4.
B12 LTE is supposed to help reception.

With 2016 approaching do you have any intentions to upgrade to the LG G5 or otherwise? What's keeping you from upgrading or pushing you towards upgrading?
I only need Band 2 LTE to use my new T-Mobile line with. What about you guys?

I would probably switch to G5 if it comes with a 4k display and if it looks something like this the concept shown on techradar.
I'm pretty happy still though haven't had phone long. Would like an update to 5.1.1 then see what comes along. Lots of good phones out there now at good prices. But this is still one of them.

I wouldn't. The battery life of this one its incredible and the new ones dont offer anything that can be real % improvement.
Only if LG creates something like the S6 active (with incredible battery, water resistant, rugged, etc) that would be the only reason to change it. Otherwise, there's something that the G2 can't handle?
If the GPS was perfect, then I would never upgrade. This phone can still do everything and it's perfect size and screen to body ratio.
I feel like the camera could be better. So I am upgrading the note 5 or moto x pure. Going to try another rom first though.
GPS is my number 1 issue, mine doesn't work at all. I will hopefully upgrade when the new Nexus 5 comes out (Verizon better have it...)
This phone has aged really well though, still as fast as when I got it (my galaxy nexus not so much) and there's really been no significant improvements for phones since it came out.
I'm not interested in a phone that I can't update myself and there just really hasn't been anything that I am interested in upgrading to that's out currently.
The stock rom on this phone is god awful ugly though, got rid of it immediately with CM.
The battery life is why I haven't moved on to a G3,G4 or a Samsung. My GPS works fine, when I need it. I'm only rooted and using the LG stock rom 39a.
My only real wish is a better camera, though the video part comes out fine
