[Q] Flash RUU problem - PLEASE HELP! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please help, I have a big problem!
I accidently flashed a rom that required S-off but my device is S-on and now it keeps rebooting. After that I tried to install Stock Sense(fflashable .zip) but when it almost completed, it failed. Now if I reboot it it doesn't go further than the HTC logo screen. I did some research to flash the stock sense on it but I don't know which RUU I have to flash. My the device is the international version unlocked (m7ul). My radio is radio-4a.17.3250.14
my getvar:

I don't get any devica-main code so I really don't know which one to download, but I've downloaded one, but when I try to flash it, It always fails at: (boatloader) checking signature.

this is because you the tried to flash something (ROM or any other package) with S-ON
you have to flash it with custom recovery, CWM or TWRP
which one you selected?

So I'll tell you my story.
First it was on sense, then I installed OneDroid using TWRP v2.6.3.3, It worked perfectly fine but battery drain was to bad so I decided to return to Sense, so I flashed a flashable .zip. Eveyrthing worked ok. Then I heard that AOKP had better battery life so I downloaded it, but it didn't want to install, It kept saying ERROR. Then I've thought of flashing the Google Play Edition. So here everything went wrong. it tried to flash with TWRP but It got failed aswell. then I flashed CWM on it, installed the Google Play Edition rom and rebooted my phone, after 3 seconds it reboots, and it keeps on rebooting. but eventually I got back into Recovery and flashed the Sense rom that I still had on my phone. But when I was installing that, It got failed. Then I tried to flash TWRP to install the Sense rom, but after I flashed TWRP, I couldn't go back into recovery. Then the phone get stuck on the HTC logo screen.
So now I want to flash Sense with RUU but I don't know which one to install and it fails when I flash the .zip with cmd. It fails at "checking signature".
PLEASE PEOPLE HELP ME, it's my brother phone's and I messed up

Please try to find me the right RUU and a RUU that doesn't requires S-off, that would be awesome!

i understand you are anxious, but please calm down, before you end up with a brick; (and please don't cross-post, it just get's everybody confused)
I'll be back in a little while, but in the meantime can you confirm,
1- you have bootloader unlocked
2- what OS are you running (Win7 / 8 / 8.1, Ubuntu, Mac)
3- do not type the output of "fastboot getvar all", use copy/paste

do you have a functioning ROM? you'll need to use rumrunner to get s-off
i believe you need a rooted ROM, preferably with unsecured kernel.
what recovery are you on, and what ROM?

Sorry didn't come back yesterday, but I'll be online a bit later...
In the meantime, flash the ROM I sent you, and use http://rumrunner.us/ to get s-off
to get the rom to your phone, go to custom recovery (CWM or TWRP), then use one of the following methods:
1- OTG cable
2- adb push <name of rom>.zip /data/media/0/
3- adb sideload <name of rom>.zip
example of adb push:
Code:
C:\ADB2>[B]adb push Guru_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1.zip /data/media/0/[/B]
2922 KB/s (1102709591 bytes in 368.450s)
note that adb push will not show any kind of progress until it completes (about 5 to 10 minutes).
and finally choose "install" in CWM or TWRP and install it.
then use rumrunner; remember reading the rumrunner instruction (especially the firewall/antivirus etc).

I broke it, can you fix it?

I've flashed multiple ROMS but I don't know what what's up now.
I was stuck on FTS Rom and couldn't flash any other ROMS- they wouldn't take. It would always reboot in FTS.
So in TWRP, I did an advanced wipe... everything was gone including the multiple various ROMS and backups in both TWRP and CLKmod. Trouble is, now I can get as far as flashing various new recoveries from the bootloader, but I can't push any rom to it or flash anything from the bootloader.
Extra kicker- I can NOT mount the phone on my computer. This has been the case for a while, not from any ROM. Not from FTS Rom, not from any recovery... can not mount the phone and transfer files.
HTC Dumlock also did not work.
Specs-
HTC One- unlocked, rooted, HBoot 1.55, S-On, Radio 4%.20.3218.13
Any help would be appreciated.
I did s-off since you're unlocked. Probably the issue. Then I would go into fast boot to either ruu or transfer a rom
I think rumrunner is what works on 1.55 hboot
Sent from my HTC One

Edit your post to match mine.
you have AT&T phone here's the link to the RUU
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...3_10-38j-1157-04_release_334235_signed_2-exe/
Edit: Keep in mind that resetting your phone with RUU is full wipe and starting from scratch
after it's done you will need to unlock bootloader, flash recovery and Root. Same as if your phone was brand new

Thanks for your help. Downloading the RUU now but before I flash this I just want to be clear.
Do I first need to S-Off using Rumrunner? I can't find a mac version, just Linux and Win.
Then do I need to re-lock my bootloader? (I read that step here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251800)
Then at that point I can flash the RUU or can I just flash the RUU without S-Off or re-locking the bootloader

[Q] HELP with updating HTC One to 4.4...

Hello, I have a rooted international HTC One currently running 4.3 Android with Sense 5.0. I am trying to perform an OTA system update that I have received... I downloaded the new 4.4 Android (1.1 GB) and I have selected "Install Update". But when the phone restarts, it just enters recovery and opens TWRP by itself!
So then I try to flash the downloaded OTA file via TWRP, but that also fails... Does anyone know how I can get 4.4 on my HTC One? Thank you

You can't apply ota with a custom recovery, you need your stock recovery.

Depending on whats been done to the phone you can eather flash stock recovery and try the update from their or you have to ruu back to stock and take the update that way.
fastboot getvar all will tell you what stock recovery you need or what ruu to use

So would you recommend getting stock recovery following nkk71's guide in your signature, or should I just flash a 4.4 rom?

Do what cIsA said. Check the output of "fastboot getvar all". Look at your main-ver # and find the corresponding stock recovery. There is a thread in general section with a collection of stock recovery.
You can post the output of getvar here minus imei/sn and we will link you the correct recovery.
Okay so I ran a fastboot getvar all, and apparently there is no RUU for my device, because it is Latin American with a CID of HTC_332. (I searched almost everywhere)
Now, after flashing a 4.4 rom I downloaded, my HTC device wasn't turning on anymore (it was getting stuck at the HTC boot logo). So I restored from a backup I made in TWRP, and that didn't work either. So now my problem just got 1000x worse because of a mistake I just made now of completely wiping my device and the OS.
So for the moment I'll try to flash a new boot.img, get S-OFF again, and change the CID to 11111111 (as I have read) where I will then download a RUU I can use. I'll let you know what happens.
Whoa there.. No need to flash boot.IMG.
What's you're steps? I think you are about to make it worse
sent from my mobile device
Okay well I'm in a tight situation atm.
My phone is completely wiped, with no OS or anything. The only thing I have access to is fastboot, and the TWRP bootloader. Also considering my phone is wiped, I believe I have S-ON as well.
So what is the first step to just get a boot going? (unless I'm not completely screwed that is..)
EDIT- I have successfully flashed Android Revolution to my phone from TWRP by pushing the zip via adb fastboot. Got my phone running again. Step 1 complete.
Step 2 now is to get S-OFF again...
Step 3- Change my CID to 11111111 using the SuperCID method (there is no RUU for my Latin American CID; HTC_332)
Step 4- Use an appropriate RUU to get 4.4 stock after I have changed my CID.
Before I continue with these steps, can anyone confirm with me if I am on the right path?
Step 2 - Confirmed.
Step 3 & Step 4 ... What is an appropriate RUU? You have not yet posted a fastboot getvar all output yet. (remove imei)

I had the same cid when I bought mine. Irc, MID was PN0711000 with s.w. X.XX.599.X.
so he could use the 1.29.401.2 ruu on htc1guru but he have to change cid.

These CID:
HTC__001
HTC__J15
HTC__A48
HTC__M27
are compatible with the 1.29.401.2 ruu.zip so i'll suggest you to use HTC__001 if you change your mind. Personally, I would stay on ARHD. No benefit to flash that RUU vs ARHD. ARHD is always up to date...

[Q] htc one sprint ruu failing. help please

Help please?? I am trying to RUU my HTC One. I successfully relocked my bootloader.
However, when I start the process, it fails (unknown error). I am told that I need to use the "correct" RUU and try again. My problem is that the one I am using claims to be correct. Sprint_HTD_One_m7wls_1.29651.10_RUU.zip
I have noticed that when I am going through the RUU process I am shown the screen that asks to compare the current version with the new one. The current image version is blank. Nothing there. No current image version at all.

The RUU you are trying to flash is a downgrade, thats why you can't flash it. 1.29.651.10 is for hboot 1.44 and you are on 1.56. You need s-off to downgrade with a ruu.
Refer to the sprint htc one forum to see if this is possible to s-off your phone on hboot 1.56 and then downgrade using the ruu
or
flash a rom for sprint htc one.

first your bootloader is relocked, you'll need to unlock it.
flash twrp recovery for M7WLS (sprint variant)
then download a sprint compatible rom. You can find them here .
push it to your phone and flash it.
If you have questions about how to do any of these steps ask me here, we'll go step by step...

My basic problem is that my radios were not connecting with Sprint at all. So, I understand that I need to do a RUU to fix that. Flashing a custom rom won't fix that (?). Now, I am unlocked with S-on. I have TWRP available. When I reboot, I am taken to the HTC lock screen, but if I unlock it, I get a white HTC screen that lets me do nothing.
I just want to get it back to what I had when I took it out of the box. If you can walk me though this, I would appreciate it. I am NH if we can do this vocally.

With s-on, its not possible to use the available ruu. You could use the latest guru reset rom available for your phone. Select the option to wipe, install stock recovery and stock radio.

download this ruu.zip http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip-m7_wls_jb_50_sprint_1-29-651-10_ruu_decrypted-zip/
save it in the same folder where adb and fastboot are
reboot your phone in bootloader mode, select fasboot, plug your usb cable.
open your command prompt from fastboot/adb folder
type:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
(make sure you use capital letter for RUU)
your phone will reboot in ruu mode, a black screen with a silver HTC logo
then type:
Code:
fastboot flash zip <name_of_ruu_you_have_downloaded>.zip (without < and >)
wait for the ruu to flash. It will probably output something like: failed, flush image again so do the same command again
Code:
fastboot flash zip <name_of_ruu_you_have_downloaded>.zip (without < and >)
then
Code:
fastboot reboot
your phone should boot to your stock rom.

I have just tested the link and it work fine for me, the download speed isn't great atm but you'll be able to get the file in maybe 1 hour (200-300 Kb/sec)

The download has begun working but all my attempts truncate/stop at around 20MB... Nowhere near 1gb. I will keep trying -- because right now I have an HTC One with working Cyanogenmod... but no connectivity at all with Sprint.
Do you happen to have a copy you can throw in dropbox for me?
And... this is the first time I've ever used these forums, so, I am still learning what I am doing. Thanks for your patience
I did download a rom called
Sprint_HTC_One_3.04.651.2_Stock_Rooted_Odexed.zip
If I flash this, will it fix my radios or will it just put me deeper in the hole?
I am on my 10th try for the htc1guru ... but none has made it past 40mb

I finally was able to download the entire file. Then, I carefully followed instructions as you sent...
At last step, I received a "failed 32 header error"
so, I repeated the flashboot flash zip command again. same error
repeated a third time. same error
did fastboot reboot and.... nothing still at cyanogenmod with no connectivity. It didn't take.
It went as planned up until the Failed message.
Please tell me you have another idea or a way to deal with this.

I did finally get the entire file... and did everything you suggested. Unfortunately, I got a Failed remote "32 header error"
I repeated the whole procedure a second time. Still nothing. I checked the MD5 of the file and it apparently was corrupt.
SO... I was back to Cyanogenmod 11 with no Sprint. As a last ditch try before retiring to bed, I came upon a zip file that said it had Sprint radio files. I figured, heck, what have I got to lose? So, I flashed the small zip. and POOF... works! My phone is back AND I didn't have to go back to stock.
I do want to say THANK YOU for all your help. Knowing you were there to help me along encouraged me not to throw my phone under a passing truck. I am sure that once we got that dang file downloaded correctly, it would have worked.
Even though it didn't turn out as we started.... your help was immeasurable for me. Thanks again.

Did you flashed a sprint compatible custom rom? You can't flash custom roms for the M7_UL on your m7_wls, both phones haves different partitions layout. Reflash a sprint custom Ron using a sprint compatible custom recovery or flash the latest sprint ruu from htc website (Google search: htc support rom download).

You can't use fastboot boot recovery with that version of hboot. Only works for hboot 1.44 it mentions in the guide it only works in earlier versions
You have to flash the recovery using the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After that you can make a nandroid backup, but it won't contain stock recovery

Are you planning on getting s off after you install your custom ROM? Means you can run an earlier RUU for your CID which will put you completely stock again if you need to return your phone for warranty purposes etc

If you do not understand what s off is or what it means for your phone, then don't worry. It's not for you
To install the custom ROM, you need to flash the recovery rather than boot recovery as suggested by the guide. If you have any problems installing the ROM I'd be happy to help you along. But continue with the guide in the meantime

To install the custom ROM, you need to flash the recovery rather than boot recovery as suggested by the guide. If you have any problems installing the ROM I'd be happy to help you along. But continue with the guide in the meantime

Did you use 2.6.3.3 version of twrp?
When installing the ROM did you choose to do a complete wipe in the options whilst installing it?

HTC ONE- Unable to install OS, Only Fastboot and recovery working

Dear Xda team,
I recently unlocked my phone via HTC dev site and I also made a backup of stock and I decided to upgrade to Custom Rom Android revolution 81..0 and since then I have had issues, I wiped all datas and now I am left with NO OS. I also tried Android revolution google play edition, it successfully installed but unforuntately boot loops because of S-ON and I dont know TWRP compatibility issues. I am confused.
Ideally, I want to get back my STOCK make an adb back up of stock, Make it S-OFF and then try all custom ROMS. I need all possible help. I am also posting other device info.

Returning back to stock will probably require s-off first so you can flash a RUU with a lower version. Better to post a complete "fastboot getvar all" (remove emei and sn) so we can determine what is the best solution for you.

I'm 100% sure that TWRP 2.6.3.0 was the cause of your trouble when flashing ARHD. Flashing twrp 2.6.3.3 should resolve that issue
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Your stock version is the pretty standard WWE version X.XX.401.X so it should not be difficult to find a nandroid backup of this version over here.
You can also just update the recovery to 2.6.3.3, flash arhd, s-off the phone. With s-off you'll be able to flash every rom you want including GPE and you'll also have the ability to use a RUU like 4.19.401.9 or 1.28.401.7 to restore your phone back to stock so your adb backup will not be required.

flash arhd Sense version,
then s-off, (try firewater first, if you get the "whelp" message ---> Sunshine s-off.
then you are free to do whatever you want cause you have s-off.
