[Q]Can't mount /system or /cache partition on TWRP - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Im facing an issue with this HTC One im trying to root. For some reason, neither TWRP or Clockworkmod can mount the /system and the /cache partitions, so i can't flash the root zip. I have tried several stuff but still got the same error. Anyone knows whats happening?
I have the Sprint Variant, bootloader is already unlocked. Here is a picture of the bootloader for more info.

BUMP. Anyone?

You should be posting in the SPrint HTC One QA.. Potentially you have installed the international Recovery and that has messed up your partition. You will need to run your stock RUU or restrore atleast recovery to try to fix system/cache.
How to fix corrupt sdcard partitions on your HTC One.
Make sure you're in the bootloader go into fastboot and make sure the downloaded image is in the same folder as your fastboot. recovery.img below is your STOCK recovery, not custom.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Go into bootloader and then choose Factory Reset - let that finish running <<< Important!
Phone will go out and start bootlooping. Now power off and go back to bootloader mode:
Go into fastboot
fastboot flash recovery <custom recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now you can go into custom recovery and you should be good to go now.

Hi,
Thanks a lot, this did it...
I couldn't get the partitions back (I tried even with ext4 partitioning over fastboot shell).
This is just perfectly elegant solution.

It didn't worked for me. the process which helped me was:
find the original Stock recovery.img for your device.
Boot your device in Bootloader and flash stock recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
go back to bootloader menu and select FACTORY RESET
once again boot into Bootloader and Flash any custom Recovery CWM or TWRP
boot into recovery and thats it. This SOLVED my /data mounting problem and adb devices not detecting my phone problem as well
Good luck

Oops wrong !

This really made my day.
Am using HTC One M7 Dual SIM (DS) m7cdwg. And this method works smoothly. Thanks Bro, for the information

I've posted wrong forum here I was looking at DevBase rom of G930. Sorry guys

Please Help "Brick" with Cyanogen's newest upate

My first post but I've been lurking for years. Pretty good with search, etc.
If anyone could help I would really appreciate it. I've been working on this for 12 hours!
I updated to Cyanogen 4.1.999
I successfully installed the new radio and fastboot confirms 2.22.19.261
Here's where I made the mistake in the following directions:
I have CMRecovery Image 1.4
-Go to http://developer.htc.com/adp.html
-DL the 1.6 "recovery image" the file name is - signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip
-Then DL CyanogenMod-4.1.99
http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/expe....99-signed.zip
-put them both on your SD card
-Boot up into CM recovery image 1.4 by rebooting and holding the home button, do a wipe.
-update using any zip to that "recovery image" (signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip)
(it should auto reboot install radio then reboot again and load back up to the CMrecovery img screen)
I mistakenly rebooted normally instead of applying the update in the next step. This is when the black screen began.
-Then update any zip usig CyanogenMod-4.1.99 (update-cm-4.1.99-signed.zip)
-Then power on the phone
I am stuck at the black screen of death.
I can fastboot and I've fastbooted the pimp recovery and still can't access recovery. Just get the triangle.
So, during update after new radio I rebooted normally instead of updating with the final build update got a black screen and have no recovery.
I've tried fastboot flash recovery and fastboot update.
fastboot flash recovery is succesful
fastboot update or fastboot flashall give me the "archive does not contain android-info.text and android-product.text" errors.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
this should be posted in Q/A not development.

if you have access to fastboot, do a fastboot flash everything... from radio, system, and what not (forgetting something)
if that doesn't work... do a fastboot of the radio and boot and system, do everything.
basically do a fastboot of the normal dev 1.6 system....
its on htc's website.... gl dude

any ideas on the commands to flash them as flashall? HTC's site has them as separate files so I can only flash the "recovery" file.
I'm sorry to be somewhat of a noob with the actual codes. Could you be more specifc with which files to flash with which commands?
TIA!
Using the HTC website 1.6 "recovery" with fastboot update I get the following:
Error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
I can't figure out how to flash the radio or system files in any other way than update in fastboot.
Did you erase the recovery? When this happened to me, just installing CM 1.4 from fastboot did not work, I had to erase the recovery then install. Hope this helps.
Also remove your SD card while booting, as prior stuff in your ext3 partition can cause black screens during boot. If that fixes it, you need to reformat your ext3.
The triangle you see is the standard recovery, to access it you need to do alt-L?or alt-x cant remember. To fix you need to flash cm-recovery to do this reboot into the boot loader (power + camera) plug in usb and hit the back button you should see "fastboot" then run
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery cm-recovery-1.4.img
seehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523558
then install rom as normal
okay this happened to me as well. I just made sure that I wiped, then started allover again. i had to do it a couple of times but it worked. just make sure that you still have the files on your SD card.
Good Luck!!!!

Hi mghtyred (of tmobile forums) welcome to XDA

[Q] Possibly bricked? It would be awesome if someone could help

Hi Xda
Forgive me for what you are about to read, as I have carried out some dumb ### noobness:
I was running Sinless 5.1Gpe rom (great rom) anyways I wanted to return to a sense based rom so decided to go for ARHD 40.2 fter reading a number of posts mentioning doing a complete wipe of the phone including SDCARD. I checked the process of pushing via adb and all seemed simple enough.
I initially did a test and it pushed the file, so then i carried out the complete wipe (no OS, no rom on sd card to flash). I then tried to push the rom and it failed. I tried a number of different ways sideload too.
I managed to get the rom to push in the end using the lastest TWRP of which it would not allow me to do rom failed to flash...
Now this is the stupid part, TWRP became unresponsive, and every time I tried to boot into recovery it would kick me out to the spash screen and bootloop. I did the fastboot erase cache without any success.
I managed to switch to CWM but could not mount anything so came across a post about switching to stock....This is the really stupid part. I flashed a stock recovery and also I now have a relocked bootloader.
Is this phone now bricked??
I have fastboot available
I am S-off
I can boot into stock recovery (Red triangle)
I cannot use ADB (device not recognised)
I cannot re unlock bootloader (tried twice and failed) - I will try again as it got to 4am and had to be up for work at 6am.
Any help really really apreciated.
Many thanks
Mick

if you have s-off you should flash back a custom recovery:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> enter RECOVERY, and adb should be working again,
use this to unlock your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475914
there's also a handy Guru Bootloader Reset (flashable zip): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527194
but it needs either CWM 6.0.3.2+, or TWRP 2.6.3.3+ to work.
or even "revone -u"

If you can get to the stock recovery press volume up then power button and quickly release both buttons and you should be in stock recovery. From here you should be able to follow any of the posted steps to flash a RUU back to pure stock.

I cant flash custom recovery the error i get is similar to trying to unlock.(above)
I cannot also use that thread because I cannot access adb (even though my phone recognises fastboot in device manager, when I go to what is now stock recovery is disappears from device manager)
I have no OS so cannot open up emulator for revone.

You're getting "cannot load"? That just means the filename is wrong, as simple as that. If ur on Windows, check for .img.img (double extension)

I now have an unlocked bootloader
I have also now flashed CWM 6.0.4.5 however I still do not have adb available. The difference now is fastboot is recognised in device manager as before but when I boot into CWM instead of it dissapearing, it moves to 'other devices' one (with yellow exclamation) I know it did this before because of drivers not being installed/recognised but I have htc sync manager installed which in theory has installed the drivers??!
Anything else I can try without adb?
Again many thanks for your assistance, I see you in a number of threads helping people...top bloke!

I suggest that you downgrade to Hboot 1.44, keep the bootloader locked and run the 1.28.401.7 RUU to be completely stock. Then its up to you whether you re staying stock or flashing sth custom.

Yes there is a fix. Install stock recovery. Go to bootloader and select factory reset. It will go to stock recovery and do it's thing and should go into a Bootloop . install custom recovery you should be good
Hi All
Just a quick note, to say all back up and running, thanks for all the respondants who helped.
I wanted add how i got it up and running, so if anyone has similar issues they can use it:
I believe the biggest culprit was the newest Firmware and TWRO 2.3.3.3 in which it did not want to load.
I downgraded by Hboot to firmware 3.xxx and then flashed TWRP 2.3.3.0 and it let me in instead of kicking me out to a bootloop.
I then had access to ADB sideload, which did not work for me in the 1st instance that led me to my problem, This i believe was due to not having the lastest SDK.(upgrade this).
Make sure the Rom you are pushing works well for that downgraded firmware i.e. a solid 4.3 based rom in my case.
Also to note I wiped my external SD card and was unable to mount this to flash, let TWRP sort this by doing a factory reset prior to flashing.
Hope this helps anyone who experienced similar symptoms to me.

It depends on the ARHD version.
As far as i know you can flash the v31.6 with cwm. Or am i wrong?
@Karlzzzon: Which version do you want to flash? 31.6, 53 or 60?
You need to do
fastboot erase cache
That will allow you to get into recovery.

I understood from your previous answers that I should have flashed with TWRP 2.6.3.3, which I'd like to do now. But how am I supposed to do that considering that I can't get to the recovery ?

even if its possible to flash a recovery.zip directly from recovery, the usual way to flash it is from fastboot using a recovery.img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
assuming your phone is a M7_UL or M7_U:
download twrp 2.6.3.3 from here (make sure MD5 match 72067aefb69541d40e8420d7aa46408d) and save it to your adb folder then:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
your rom.zip should still be there so just install it again
if not
adb push it to your /sdcard

Corrupted TWRP, red triangle when entering recovery

So I'm having a hard time here LOL.
I come from a soft brick and after some issues I got my m7_ul back to stock, which is great as it is alive again Now I want to flash a decent ROM, I have thought about ViperOne. However my TWRP 2.7.1.1 seems corrupted, I can't even enter it and I have had a couple of scary moments as the phone won't boot to system. Finally pressing the power button for like 30 seconds did the job and it booted to system. Stock ROM sucks but it is better than a brick haha.
My phone is international m7_ul, my HBOOT is 1.44 and I have Tampered and Unlocked labels, not sure what should I do exactly. Just want the basic strategy to get my custom ROM running and later on I will add a soundmod but that should be easier.

Unlock the bootloader at HTCDEV
then from fastboot USB

Suggest re-download, the re-flash TWRP, flash in fastboot fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery.img> and then fastboot erase cache, this should allow you to enter recovery.

simply flash twrp using fastboot. Easy, fast and reliable.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader

Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then boot in recovery, push the rom to your phone and install it.
You can't flash a rom from fastboot, it must be done from recovery.

This is my biggest problem I cannot boot into recovery, it bootloops after 15 seconds I choose it in the fastboot menu. I even tried to (fastboot boot recovery. img) and it also bootloops.
I cannot boot into android also, I am in big trouble. Any ideas??

First are you sure you have flashed the recovery and then erased cache and rebooted before attempting to boot in recovery mode?
Have you checked the MD5 value of your recovery before flashing?
"fastboot boot recovery.img" was only available on hboot 1.44

I literally tried all of the recovery images I found for that device , I always check the md5 , and erase cache.
It looks like it is finishes flashing properly with no errors , but when I try to boot into recovery it bootloops.
Ok I found it no worries
If someone can help me find the ruu for vodap001 x. xx. 161.x would be my savior right now
