[Q] Faulty Chip? - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my replacement Nook and I checked the chip. MBG4GA. I've only read about MAG2GA being the faulty chip.
Can I flash TRIM kernels to mine without a possible brick?

You can flash trim kernels.
Sidetip:
I recommend CM 10.2 nightly with touchfix+trim enabled kernel.

Thanks for the answer!
Yes, I now, this is a great combination. Now that verygreen's CM11 build has trim and touchfix included, I am running his build and it's great. You should check it out if you haven't already.

I have MAG2GA and using trim-fixed kernel without problem.

Really haven't experienced that. But I have one more question: EMMC Brick Bug App tells me my chip is from 1997. Seriously? Is that a bug or do I actually have the "luck" to have ancient software in my device?!

You can also give a try to just released CM11 nightly

I have installed the Official CM10 roms went it went "official", i am having trouble with the in-call volume? also the people on the other end can't hear me either?
Has anyone found a fix for this, it's driving me crazy. I like the CM10 Very much, but i can't use it without being able to hear. I keep going back to DarkRaider 1.5.5 which doesn't have any issues.

Do you know if it's a ROM issue, or a Kernel Issue? I've tried a couple of different Kernels with the CM10, and, i thought, it made a little difference? but not sure.

Yep, there is one out there called "Kernel usb fix cm10". there is another one Called " KangBang Kernel 2.0", there is one built into the PACman rom that can be Fastbooted.
Langbang isn't for JB as far as I'm aware.. and if so could you link me it.? And the USB fix was the default kernel home slice uploaded (I think)

The kangbang kernel is probably really old...back from when syn was working on cm10
And after that pretty much all the "jb" kernels are 99.9% the same...all based off the same source.

The real only differences are the OC. On USB fix one i can OC up to 1512, on the Kangbang 2.0 you can OC up to 2082? i think,
and on the PACman Boot.img you can OC up to 1728.

Are you saying you loaded Kangbang 2.0 on your phone with CM10 loaded? The reason I ask is the Kangbang 2.0 was based on ICS so not really setup for JB.

Yes, i did load Kangbang 2.0 with CM10, everything seemed to be working except WIFI. I couldn't get the WIFI to turn on. But everything seemed to be working?
As I said earlier...when syn was working on cm10 he had a kangbang kernel for jb...that's probably what this guy has
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
That kernel is old and doesn't have all the fixes that has been done to cm why are they using it
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Try the new kernel or just stick with the default. Btw what the hell is linaro. Just curious. And not trying to be off topic
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
Linaro is a tool chain that you use for compiling...
Iirc it tells gcc what to do

So can't someone compare what Syn had in his kernel to what we currently have and sort of combine them?
The Sultana kernel seems to be making quite a bit of progress, and a fix to the in-call volume is being worked on, but no success yet.
Keep an eye on CM10 development and Sultana development and you will get the fix as soon as they find one. That's what I am doing.

[Q] Is LagFix safe to use with SEM32G eMMC?

Hello. I'm hoping to use LagFix with my 32gb Nook HD+ on CM10.1.3, but want to make sure it's safe after seeing so many horror stories on these forums and elsewhere. My understanding is that SEM32G eMMCs are unaffected by the bricking bug and so LagFix should be safe to use. Is this correct?
Thank you!
EDIT: In case there are other's looking at this thread without the same eMMC- Is the rule of thumb that all non-Samsung eMMCs are safe to lagfix (trim)?
That's a Sandisk part, I believe. Mine also uses a Sandisk. I've been running CM 10.2 with the trim-enabled kernel for three weeks; 10.2 is based on android 4.3 which auto-schedules trim.

The built-in trim function in 10.2 is equivalent to using LagFix in 10.1.3?

stick or twist

I'm currently running cm 10.1.3 on my nook hd,I've checked to see if I have the faulty chip,I believe I've got a toshiba one,and there safe.
My question is,would I be ok to flash verygreens trim kernel for better performance?.
Or would you recommend just sticking with the kernel that came bundled with cm 10.1.3?
Cheers for any help

I believe that verygreen's TRIM fix kernel is for the HD+ only, not the HD. I don't think he disabled TRIM in the HD kernel in the standard CM10.2 for HD.
But the issue of TRIM and the kernel fix only applies to CM10.2, not CM10.1.3. So even if you have an HD+ instead of a HD, you should not be applying that fixed kernel to CM10.1.3.
So bottom line, do NOT apply the fixed kernel to either the HD or HD+ if you are running CM10.1.3.

[Q] CM11 4.4.4 ... does it have TRIM enabled? Having Lag issues!

Is TRIM enabled, and running by default, on CM11 4.4.4 M12?
... or do I need to use LagFix?
I have been running all the latest updates, currently on M12 and I still get a lot of lag and often trying to come out of sleep, after unlocking the screen goes black.
Is this from lack of TRIM ... or is this something else?
thx!

I don't see anything about CM11.
Is it the same as CM10.2? Do I need to use lagfix ?

How's your free storage capacity? Once I experienced slow performance when it was 3gb free or less..
I think you don't need to run lagfix on cm11 nightlies or M builds.

Mugen 3800 cm12.1 xt894

I read {somewhere?} that battery percentage doesn't report correctly, does cm12 fix this?
{Somewhere?} Someone posted variables or some linux hw sensor id for voltage and hypothesised mapping it as a percentage to the battery capacity
How long does it take to charge?
What accessories are compatible

Cm12 overclocking?

Essentially what I want to know is if overclocking can be applied to a preexisting rom rather than requiring a reflash

Nah, I want to overclock the latest cm nightlies, without having to use an alternative rom. I want to be able to occasionally flash the latest nightly without having repeat the process of overclocking.
How much better is slimkat compared to both latest stock and latest cm12.1?

IMO stoch ROM is the best for a daily use.
