[Q] Help I'm lost to flash my rom - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I want to install "Elegancia" rom on my htc one m7 but i'm lost the devloper says that:
1.HTC_Dev Unlocked Bootloader (Ok I did it now i'm bootloader is unlocked I found a tutorial on Google)
2.Latest TWRP 2.6.3.3 Recovery for KitKat supportbut also to enjoy OTA Updates & better Aroma Support) (I did it also I'm done with that I installed it via Fastboot I also found a tutorial on Google. And I Rooted my htc one from TWRP
3.S-off recommended (Now that I don't know how to do it I'm block here my HBOOT: HBOOT-1.55.0000)
Edit: I'm just past in S-OFF but I have Tampered how to do to remove TAMPERED please?
4.I advice you to flash the latest Android 4.4 firmware (I have to install a stock rom kitkat first? or I can flash directly with his rom? I'm on 4.3 Android version. anyway I don't know how to update or flash with his rom because he doesn't explain or I don't understand right?)
This is the link of the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351020
Thanks for your time. Sorry i'm new on Android during 5 years I was Apple product.

I would suggest that you make a backup recovery from TWRP before doing anything further...
For s-off on hboot 1.55, search for rumrunner (tool) guide. GL.

watch that video for S-off ;]

[Q] Info before I root and install custom rom

All,
I decided that I do not want to wait for HTC to roll out the 4.2.2 update on my HTC One Dev and install a custom rom. I really tried to stick with stock because I was sick and tired of constant flashing and just want something that is stable and for work. But my itch is coming back and would just like to get a stable stock like rom ie Android Revolution HD 12. (Opinions for stable and stocklike?)
Anyways, since I have the Dev Edition, just want to make sure I'm doing this right, and have a couple of questions:
Since I'm bootloader unlocked, all I need to do is root, install a custom recovery ie CWM or TWRP, and flash a rom?
What do I do with firmware and radios? I know I should flash these seperately, but can anyone give me advise on which to flash? Again, I have the Dev Edition on At&T network.
Thank you all for any advice you can give me.

There's no real reason to flash either firmware or radio. but Install a recovery, which will root the phone for you, make a nandroid backup and flash to your heart's content.
I think you should read next link:

@vomer posted a detailed guide to achieve Firmware upgrade, S-OFF and other stuff. If you want to go with stock experience, then go with ARHD 12.1.
You need S-OFF to upgrade the firmware (which is recommended). If you have 1.54 HBOOT, you will not gonna be able to flash a custom firmware and you will have to use the full firmware package which I'm not sure if Vomer included in his guide, but you can always look for Mike's firmware compilation topic

This is a little off.
If you have 1.54 hboot, you are already on the most recent firmware. But because of that, you can't s-off and flash future firmware updates. You're limited to flashing custom roms at the moment.
How can I tell what version of hboot I'm on?

You're on 1.44 because your phone is still stock on 4.1.2. So you're okay.

To know this, all you need to do is go to the bootloader. As your bootloader is already unlocked, I will assume you know how to get here...
Anyway, you can just reboot the device while keeping the Vol Down key pressed and you will enter bootloader.

From Sony To HTC One, Utterfly Confused

Hi guys. I shifted from my old Sony Xperia Sola to the beautiful HTC One and I'm loving it. The phone was gifted to me and is from from Singapore (or perhaps bought in one of those countries around there). The problem is that I'm just not getting the Android 4.2.2 update (OTA or software). Here's what I intend to do:
- Download International HTC One Andorid 4.2.2 Stock ROM
- Boot into HTC One stock recovery
- Flash Android 4.2.2 Stock on my HTC One
Questions:
1. Do I need to unlock my bootloader for this? From my experience with Sony, I shouldn't need to do so. For Sony phones there's FTF, for HTC phones there's (what? Is it RUU files?)?
2. Can I make this update on stock ROM?
3. Can I install CWM without unlocking bootloader and ROOT my phone as well?
Would really appreciate some help, just links to the respective threads and I'll take it from there.
Thanks!
You need unlocked boatloader for custom recovery , root , flashing , if I were you I'd fist s-off then do the following.

When you say you want to flash stock ROM, do you actually mean official 4.2.2 or are you talking about a custom Stock ROM like ARHD? ... If you want to flash a custom ROM you will need a custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM. If you want to flash an RUU then you will need to be S-Off to flash anything other than the one meant for the region the phone came from.
Your bootloader needs to be unlocked to flash custom recovery, also, if you decide to flash something like ARHD which is the best custom ROM IMO (and is almost completely stock but with a few improvements) then it already has root built into the ROM. Just unlock your bootloader, install custom recovery usng fastboot and then flash a ROM using CWM or TWRP, whichever you install.
Check these threads for any info .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023 ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618

My phone software (.407) belongs to the India region. And I want to flash the official Android 4.2.2 ROM for the Indian HTC One version.

Alternatively, I'm considering flashing ARHD. Doesn't matter if I'm using an Indian region variant right? (GSM)
So I need to:
- Unlock the bootloader
- Install Recovery
- Flash ROM
That's it correct? I lose all the information in my internal storage or it stays? (I mean in the 32GB internal storage)
Also, can I lock bootloader and go back to official ROM at any stage in the future?

Yep, unlock your bootloader which will wipe your internal storage so backup to your pc first if there's things you want to keep. Install a custom recovery using fastboot and then you can just flash any ROM, ARHD is a very good choice btw lol.
If you want to return to stock then check the second thread in my previous post, but yes, you can flash a stock ROM like in the thread I mentioned, install a stock recovery, re-lock your bootloader and then you should be good to go as far as OTA updates etc.
This is assuming you are S-On btw, S-Off requires different steps for what I mentioned and I am not familiar with that way at all as I'm S-On. What I mentioned above is exactly what I did when I reverted to stock to receive the recent 4.2.2 update in the UK
I don't know which files you need to restore to stock as the thread is for the European version of the One and I don't know how your version differs but someone will be able to advise you more on that . The process is the same though if you are S-On, I'm just not 100% sure what custom ROM or stock ROM you would need for your variant of the ONE so best let somebody more knowledgeable take over from here lol
Good luck.
Phew. S-On S-Off, Sony phones are a hell lot simpler! Thanks a ton!

[Q] 4.3 Update Questions

Hi all,
I'm currently on 1.31.651.2 (Android 4.1.2) and just started getting the notifications to update to 3.04.651.2 (Android 4.3). I'm currently Unlocked but with S-On, with TWRP installed. The Stock ROM is rooted for my convenience.
What is the best course of action to get to 4.3? I know I can't OTA without putting Stock Recovery on and I'd like to avoid doing that right now.
From what I'm reading and seeing there is a Rooted 4.3 Odex/DeOdex ROM, but I'm wary from people saying it hasn't worked 100% right. I also am reading that I should do S-Off before doing it (for the radios?).
So what should I do? I'd really like to get onto 4.3 and I'm not certain of the upgrade path at this point. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!

You don't necessarily need to update your firmware, nor your radio to update to 4.3
Right now there are 3 android 4.3 ROMs which are buggless.

Flashing firmware and radio is OPTIONAL, your phone will work fine even without them
IF you want you can flash only the radio(no need s-off) http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23159073880933335
IF you want to flash the firmware you need to be s-off first. The new firmware contains a new touch driver, so before flashing it you'll need to update TWRP to the latest (2.6.3.0) if you haven't already. The firmware can be found here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23159073880933456
Note if you update your firmware touch won't work if you install a 4.1.2 ROM, it works only on 4.3 ROMs

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure what the firmware files were for. I was looking at the stuff in the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467607
I really want to keep a stock rom, and that's stock + root. Since I think I want to flash the firmware file (new drivers yay!) I'll need to do S-Off first. That's exactly the info I needed. I already have TWRP 2.6.3.0 (that's the one part I saw that I could understand and I always like to run the latest anyways).
Really appreciated. Thanked.
Sorry to piggy back, but how can we make sure we are on the new firmware or not? I flashed it but I remember seeing an error in the CMD window and want to make sure it went through ok.

For those interested, here's the path I took in full:
1) Installed TWRP 2.3.6 while on old (rooted) stock.
2) Obtained S-Off using revone including getting rid of the tampered flag. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582 )
3) Installed Full firmware from O.M.J. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467607 )
4) Installed Rooted Stock from same URL as Step 3.
5) Reinstalled TWRP 2.3.6 from the TWRP website using fastboot commands.
6) Flashed SuperSU 1.65 from the kit ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244060 )
I now have 4.3 rooted Stock with the latest firmware.
Thanks to all who commented, but especially elvisypi. I was reading through the O.M.J. thread and saw you answered a lot of my questions in there. My bad for not reading before going and posting. Thanks regardless.

Help me unlock, root and install android revolution hd rom on my new AT&T HTC One

Hi guys, just got a new AT&T version of the HTC One.
I've been reading these forums for the past couple days, and as always the more I read the more I got confused.
So, it seems that I need to follow Steps 1&2 on this guide to unlock my boot loader and install a custom recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182792
I plan to install Android Revolution HD rom, so does that mean I don't have to run Step 3 from the above guide to root the phone first?
Does Android Revolution HD rom has root with it?
Also, what's S-OFF vs S-ON? And does it matter what firmware version my phone comes with?

S-off give you full access to your phone i.e you can flash the hboot partition (bootloader). With s-off you can also change you CID # and your MID # if you want to convert your phone to a Google Play edition, Dev edition, WWE etc... Many useful things can be done with s-off but its also dangerous if you don't know what you are doing, you can hard brick your phone. IMO its better to be S-OFF and achieve it asap (easier on hboot 1.44) but you have to be very careful what you do after to avoid bricking. S-off also give you more option to restore your phone 100% stock because you will not be limited by your CID/MID to use a RUU.
thanks much for the reply alray.
it seems i want S-OFF, but you're scaring me a bit.
also, the instructions to flash ARHD below is a little confusing:
How to flash:
Download ROM and place it on your virtual SD card
Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol down + power)
In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard"
Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of Android Revolution ROM
You can use data wiping option in AROMA (optionally if coming from earlier version of my ROM, obligatory if coming from stock or other custom ROM)
After flashing process is complete, reboot the device
So, I need to do a data wiping with AROMA. What is AROMA and how do I get it?
Btw, this my AT&T HTC One software version.
Could you tell me if it's ok to root, flash recovery, and install ROM with this version on my phone?
Android Version: 4.3
HTC Sense Version: 5.0
Software Number: 3.17.502.3
HTC SDK API level: 5.45

[Q] Firmware update without S-OFF by switching back to StockRom and Update?

Hi everybody.
my HTC one has Viper 5.8 running with S-ON and i like it that way.
I never updated the Firmware since i moved from the 4.2.2 stock rom. (i have nandroid backup of the stock rom)
I am a bit scared doing S-OFF "just" to update firmware, hboot and radio, I know it should be easy to do, but i just don't want to.
So i thought that maybe i can flash back to the stock rom, then make the offical HTC update to 4.3 sense 6 (should also flash newest firmware right?) and then unlock the bootloader again, flash twrp and custom rom again.
Would that work? Is there something i have to pay attention to?
thx for any help!!!!

Since you don't want S-Off, that is your best option. I would follow closely @Mike1986 [GUIDE] Complete Flashing Guide | Rooting | Going Back To Stock it is for those who are S-On.
Thanks, I will follow the guide.
But I have one more question:
Can I do the official HTC update from the htc stock rom while I still have custom recovery and bootloader unlocked?
Can't find any any info if there is any risk involved not changing back first to stock recovery and bootloader relocked before doing the update.
I guess recovery will be overwritten by the official update?!?

you don't need a locked bootloader to get an official ota update, however, you do need to flash a stock recovery !!.
I went through the ota update method to update my firmware as for some reason my htc one wouldn't s-off and I felt that it wasn't running as it should on custom roms with the old firmware.
I started off with a flashable zip -4.06.1540.2,developer edition then ota updates, always doing a nand backup of rom.
always pull the stock recovery image from the ota before updating...
i'm now running 5.11.1540.9 firmware and all custom roms are running good...
if you google 4.06.1540.2 dev edition flashable zip you should find it,if not,i can upload it too somewhere for you...
an official htc ota update changes your firmware and installs a stock recovery..
its a bit long winded this way, but,it was the only way for me !!

First thank you for sharing your experience.
When you say "zip -4.06.1540.2,developer edition" then you mean the rom, correct?
Why would you pull the stock recovery from the OTA before updating? What would be the consequence of leaving it in?
...
so i would download the odexed stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48111304
and afterwards flash the according recovery.img, correct?
i guess it is no problem that my phone (and their for the bootloader) was not a developer edition

yeah,it's a full flashable rom, that can be installed by custom recovery, when I say pull the stock recovery,i mean copy it to a folder on your pc,always best to have the matching recovery for your stock rom.
