[ Root ] Incredible S

First of all hello to everyone
And secondly I'm sorry for the mistakes I hope few, I am French
I came on this forum for his very very large community that can help me solve my problem
So I have an Incredible S for about 3 months and for 1 month or so I passed under ICS and I'd like to spend this wonderful adventure with you rootage
So I would like the rooter but what I saw AC looks very complicated, it should unlock a HTC DEV oartir what I have done, it must be put in S-OFF (I n have not done) in order to install the rooter and a ROM but what I saw there is still no solutions to switch OFF and S-rooter for version 4.0.4
So please if you have a solution (or more) to enter S-OFF and rooter for version 4.0.4
And will be available when an official version of ROM or JB on my Incredible S

Hello,
I have 'unlocked' my incredible s via the HTCDev website and I have got root afterwards. I have also flashed a custom ROM, Android Revolution HD, which is very stable and I would recommend if you want the latest ICS ROM.
However, I'm not S-off. If you want S-off you need to unlock via a different method. Check the link provided above and search these forums, there is a lot of useful information to be found.
My 'unlocked' S-on is still a little restrictive, S-off would allow you more access to modifications and ROM updates from the forums (as I've found out).

I got root before I installed ICS (4.0). And when you flash the custom ROM root is retained within it.

No, you need to S-OFF or HTCDev UNLOCK before you get root by using this method.
As I mentioned above, I used HTCDev method to unlock first, then rooted from the link I posted earlier.

I don't really understand your question, sorry...
There are various files/programs, and various methods for using the files/programs, for each stage of the process - unlocking/s-off, install recovery, get root, flash ROM.
Each is downloadable from the XDA forum, normally in the first post of the topic.
You need to allow enough time, read each set of instructions and carefully follow each stage of the process as advised. Be aware of the warnings too!

Oh, I see now...
So you have ICS already, I guess you updated to ICS via OTA before you 'UNLOCKED' via HTCDev?
And now you want to root your phone but can't find the guidance on how to do so from ICS to root. Is this right?
For me, I can't help you as I haven't had to do this myself. I'm not sure, but you may need to follow one of the downgrade threads, but don't hold me to that. I would suggest reading and searching through the threads before trying anything.
Be aware of your HBOOT version and read through things first.
And post 2 above has tried to help you, I haven't read through that myself, but does that not address your query?

Next step is to install a custom Recovery and then you can SuperSU to get root.

Search for SuperSu and read about how to download and install it. You will install the SuperSu zip file from CWM recovery.

It's good I'm root !
Now I want a Rom or all features are functional, that is Android 4.0 (or 4.1, I doubt it) without sourcouche, like the Nexus

i flashed Android Revolution HD via clockworkmod
and now my speaker & mic are not working with the native phone app. i cant hear the other person and they cant hear me.
i download some apps from the market place to test calling over wifi and it works fine. just the phone app has problems.
i also flash ROM][Jul-15-2012][STOCK][RUU][ICS][Sense 3.6][Asia/WWE] 4.10.707.1 and same problem.
i know definitely its not hardware but dont know where the software is gone wrong.
please help

Did you happen to come from a Froyo rom? If so you'll need to flash a new radio. Froyo radios don't work with ICS.

does gingerbread support froyo radio. im okay with using gingerbread.

Yes a GB radio will work on ICS. GB rom will need GB radio as far as I know. Chk the threads and stickies for radio files and how to flash. I use the adb flash method personally.
The latest radio is 3831.18.00.11_M

Every time I run the upgrade manager from the phone, the update stucks halfway and I have to pull the battery
Some pro here knows a alternative way to upgrade and could help me? Maybe with some written instructions??

You make it sound so easy but I have nerver done anything like this before. What´s wrong with my build I don´t really know but I guess some file on the phone is missing from unistalling some app or something.
I´ll try to unlock my bootloader, you have a link to how to do it???

You did not search properly!
what custom Rom are you running as per your post you just have an unlocked bootloader.
Read the stickies ? You'll find all solutions!

The Vivo_W is the Droid Incredible 2/CDMA IncS, so you really should be asking in the Droid Incredible 2 forum.

Download your kernal zip and putit in your sd card then enter recovery and install zip from sd card

It will be a sense 3.6 ROM... probably best for you to stay s off and use all the awesome sense 4.1 ROMs and the jellybean aosp ROMs

Since you have BlackRose HBOOT, the procedure to go back to S-ON and prepare your phone for an official HTC RUU is documented in the BlackRose thread; you just need to search, read and study before you begin.

The information you need is located on the first post. When you uninstall BlackRose, it will replace it's S-OFF HBOOT with HTC stock HBOOT 1.13. Then you are ready to run an official HTC RUU.
