[Q] Android - File - Info error - HTC One - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I rooted my HTC one last night and then tried to install an add-on Advanced Power Menu mod, but for some unknown reason got stuck into the boot logo issue. I have tried searching on the web for possible solutions, but nothing seems to work for me.
1. ADB is not activated. Hence, can't push any file into my sdcard and flash using custom recovery.
2. RUU file - tried using the RUU zip from HTC1GURU, but getting the error "Read file zipped android-Info.txt failed".
Kindly let me know if anyone can help me as I love this. I believe I haven't bricked it and I am just missing some basics.
I am not an expert in all of this stuff, but able to work around a bit by following instructions.
Eagerly awaiting a reply to my issue.
Mods: Please re-direct me if I am posting in the wrong section and delete this thread.

You should be able to mount the "sdcard" from recovery, and then copy the new ROM.

TWRP > Advanced > Sideload..
then adb sideload romname.zip ?
This doesn't work?
If not, your OS? and output of fastboot getvar all (minus IMEI&SN)

The HTC one only has internal memory and no SD card facility. So, I doubt I can copy anything to the phone and use TWRP

I tried ADB SideLoad, but it doesn't work. Seems like the enable usb debugging option is turned off before I got into the problem and hence the device is not recognized.
I am using Windows 7. I am at office right now, but will definitely provide you the details as soon as I reach home.

But the internal memory is partitioned and then some of it mounted at /sdcard, which is usually treated as an external sdcard.

In TWRP, there is no USB debugging option. ADB is available in sideload mode.

Ok. But sorry for asking this again. Can you give me a step by step instruction as to what needs to be done now.
In TWRP, if I click on ADB Sideload, it gives me two options
1. Wipe Dalvik Cache
2. Wipe Cache.
I didn't select either and swiped to start Sideload.
I get this message.
ADB Sideload Complete.
Failed

Yes, I can see that there is a directory by the name /sdcard. But I really don't know how to copy the files to this directory.
At this moment, I can only access Fastboot & TWRP.

As I said, in TWRP, mount the sdcard and then use the PC to copy the file. I'm sure this works.

I tried following your instructions, but it didn't work.
In TWRP, I get only three options under mount - System, Cache & USB-OTG, but I am unable to select option USB-OTG.
But in My Computer, I can see there is a new Removable Disk appearing everytime when I go under this option but can't open it because of the above.
Feeling a bit low as I don't have any other handset with me, and I am unable to take/make any calls/messages

Just a quick update guys.
I tried to push files using ADB sideload. Fortunate enough that my device was detected and was able to push RUU file & Cyanogenmod files but when I tried flashing either of the zips, it just fails.
I now think I am close enough but the problem is with the files.
Any suggestions please please help me.
One more update
I tried copying the superuser zip and flash it. but every time I am getting the same error.
"Error flashing zip"
"Updating partition details...."

Today, I tried using the RUU file and it was working for the first time. Problem was with the processes running in background. After killing all processes in task manager, I was able to execute RUU.exe but this also failed after 15 minutes due to the wrong version of RUU used.
I then searched a lot on the web but was unable to find any RUU for my phone model which has the OS 3.63.708.3.
I really need help from people now.

At last, I got it fixed folks. Thanks for everyone's guidance. Here is what I did.
1. Flashed the boot.img from the OTA Update for 3.63.708.3 found on HTC1GURU.COM
2. Downloaded Hasoon2000's HTC One All-In-One Toolkit
3. Executed Perm Root from the Toolkit as my SuperSU was missing
4. Executed ADB Sideload a ROM with CM 10.2.0-m7ul
5. Re-boot
vola!!!! your phone is alive now
few points to note here - when I tired to execute the ADB Sideload I got an error
skipping MD5 check : no MD5 file found
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard
E: Error installing zip file.......
this post saved my life.
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/75631-updated-bootloader-still-getting-assert-failed/
I just removed assert device statement (first few lines from the update-script file) and all worked fine.
Again - Thanks everyone

[Q] Cannot find required RUU

I was trying the Cyanogenmod with root but the phone ended up in recovery mode without any rom file in the phone. Since its internal SD card, I could’t move the zip files too. Tried hours and hours of troubleshooting and fixes but still the same.
My phones current status is as below:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** RELOCKED ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT- 1.55.000
RADIO-4A.21.3623.04
Also, I got the below information from fast boot
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4A.21.3263.04
(bootloader) version-main: 3.62.401.1
Main issue was whenever I try to send the rom zip file, fast boot only shows sending and nothing happens after that, and Im not sure if I am using the correct RRU as I couldn’t find the specific one for 3.62.401.1. I managed to use the CWM & TWRP recovery, and tried the sideload option, but even that gives an error
Kindly help

There is no 3.62.401 RUU only older version that requires to be s-off to install (require hboot downgrade) and you are S-On so forgive the RUU.exe
You should try to go back to stock with a guru reset.
Use this reset (rom) : http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_3-62-401-1-zip/
instructions can be found here : http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/
Thanks a lot for the details.
I have the Gururestore file, but couldn't figure out a way to move the file to the phone as the phone doesn't have an external SD card.
I am in CWM now and tried the sideload, but when I try the command adb sideload gurufilename.zip it shows error;closed.
Could you please let me know on how could I move this file to the phone and execute?
Thanks once again for the quick helo

adb push gurufilename.zip /data/media/0
be sure your in recovery before you begin
I am currently on CWM recovery and selected ADB sideload.
From the fastboot folder, I entered the command " adb push Guru_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1.zip /data/media/0"
Haven't received any error, but I don't see any progress on the phone or in the pc. Not sure if its copying the file to the phone.
Is this normal?

Then use cwm to navigate to your /data/medio/o folder the zip file should be there.
If I remember, in cwm, you have to select ''install zip from file'' and then navigate to /data/media/o and select the .zip you just pushed. then follow instruction in the video (you can skip to 1min30 after twrp procedure)
That didn't worked!
It stayed for some time and got cancelled. Restarted the phone and booted back in CWM but now the adb commands are not working.
Even adb devices shows
List of devices attached
Instead of the device.
Is there any other option by which I could move the file into the phone? Any alternative fastboot command?
I restarted the phone and selected FASTBOOT USB and tried the fastboot command.
fastboot flash /device/0 Guru_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1.zip
sending '/device/0' (1176263 KB)...
OKAY [ 55.447s]
writing '/device/0'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 145.085s
And that failed too!

you can't flash a rom in fastboot
your choices are adb push and adb sideload or a usb otg adapter
Thanks for the note.
I am trying to use adb with the how to from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
In that
- Ensure in Recovery that your phone shows "Unmount /sdcard/" and "Unmount /system/" (If they do not show this automatically, just press each one once respectively as pressing just toggles Mount and Unmount)
In my phone, the /sdcard doesnt shows unmount. Even if I mount, it still shows the same, only /system is mounted and showing unmount /system
I tried once to copy the Gurufile.zip to /system and got a message like "No space left on the device"
Adb devices should show the device without you mounting any partition.
Can you simply enter recovery and type adb devices after couple of minutes?
What OS do you have?
If you select install from zip in recovery, can you browse the internal sdcard?
Yes, I can see the devices details when I type adb devices, and I am using a Windows 7
I can also browse the phone when i select install from zip. Issue is I am not able to transfer the file. adb push doesnt seems to be working as the /sdcard is not mounting. Thinking of getting an OTG cable and try for the file transfer.
Finally!
Got OTG cable, copied the Guru restore file and restored from that selecting restore from external card and now restored to stock ROM!
Thanks a million to all of you guys, you saved my phone! :good:

[SOLVED] HTC One M7 Sprint: TWRP not able to mount system or cache

Soft bricked an HTC One M7 Sprint because of this. Unlocked with official method, I have TWRP on it. I try to mount system or begin ADB sideload (because stock ROM has mysteriously slipped away):
E:Unable to mount '/system'
E:Unable to mount '/cache'
Can't find this issue anywhere else, incredibly. Please help.
In case you're wondering:
Because stock ROM is gone (I honestly am not sure what happened to it), I need to flash a new ROM.
I tried to backup, then found out system and cache weren't mounted-then TWRP crashed, and I got boot looped.
I managed to get back into TWRP, and now I have no ROM, can't mount necessary directories for accessing where my ROM is, and can't ADB sideload a ROM- because that requires system and cache to be mounted.

To cure the unable to mount issues, you need to enter twrp and select wipe, then format data, this will however completely wipe your phone sd card included.
As you have the Sprint HTC One, you need to get your files from here, you cant use the normal GSM roms on this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one
once you've found the rom of your choice, you will need to push it to your sdcard, so with the phone plugged into the computer and on the main screen only in TWRP type
Code:
adb push NAME_OF_ROM.zip /sdcard/
be patient, it takes a while, but cmd window will let you know when its finished, once its done, unplug your phone before flashing it.

just sideload or push it to your internal storage, I prefer to push it myself, I find its less problematic, make sure you unplug your phone before flashing it, ive also experienced problems flashing whilst still plugged in.
unable to mount cache is quite a standard error though and usually (if available) format data in twrp fixes it.

adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/

from start to end of the story
in messup my phone and now i have no os at all so i am using the twrp v.2.7.1.1 to try to install the os
i am trying to install from the twrp insallation menu the rom that i downloaded and i pushed it from cmd "adb push filename.zip /sdcard/"
but when i try to install it "swipe to confirm flash" it faield the instalation
i explain it clear enough?

so this
E:unable to tount /data/media/twrp/. twrps when trying to read settings file.
E:unable to mount '/data'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/rom1.zip'
E:unable to mount internal storage
is the result of the failed instalation message where the rom1.zip is the zip that i downloaded

Sounds like you just need to push and install a Rom. Which version of Team Win Recovery (TWRP) is installed?
Do you know how adb and fastboot work?

Ok first you need to get adb and fastboot installed and working you can download tool from the above link to do this easily. Also in that thread are guides on how to use adb and fastboot. But feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
Once you have a basic understanding of how to use these command line tools we can get to fixing this for you :good:

Download both these files
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
http://www.androidrevolution.org/downloader/download.php?file=One_6.09.401.12_deodexed.zip
Put both files inside your fastboot folder.
Rename twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img to recovery.img
Rename One_6.09.401.12_deodexed.zip to rom.zip
Connect fastboot usb in the bootloader and flash the recovery with these commands
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Select recovery from the bootloader menu to boot to TWRP recovery. Select "Wipe" from the TWRP menu and then "Format Data" you will be prompted to type yes to confirm. When its done go back to the TWRP home screen and select "Reboot" then "Reboot Recovery" TWRP will ask if you want to root the device at this point say no.
Once your back in recovery we need to push the rom.zip to the phone. In the command window type
Code:
adb devices
You should get an output showing your devices serial number. This confirms adb is working. If you don't get the serial number output check in device manager on your pc that the drivers have installed correctly. Otherwise continue to push the rom with
Code:
adb push rom.zip /sdcard
The command window will appear unresponsive until the push completes (Sevral Minutes) When it's done select "Install" from the TWRP home screen and choose the rom.zip, Swipe the pull bar to confirm. The Aroma Installer will start and guide you through the rom install, When it's done Reboot the device. Again TWRP will ask if you want to root the device at this point it's your decision but now you have a rom installed you can root if you want to. That's it let me know how you get on :good:

Yes, This is because we used fastboot erase cache. Fastboot formats differently to recovery. After you boot the rom the cache partition will be formatted correctly for recovery and Android

so umh, what now ?

Phone won't open after format through TWRP..

So, a couple of months ago I deleted videos and wanted to get them back, so I searched a bit and installed TWRP. Anyway, the videos were lost, could not recover anything, so installing TWRP was of no use to me.
I checked last week for updates and found out I have the latest Lollipop update available, so tried to download and install and I couldn't, because of TWRP..
Next thing was to try and uninstall it from the phone, but getting lost inside multiple internet pages, I reached a bad moment and formatted data.. my mistake.
After this my phone won't boot into the system, it always opens me in recovery mode and Team Win menu.
I tried to make my Macbook recognise it as adb device, but it will not do it, whatever I do on terminal with instructions I found again in various pages on the internet..
Now: what I should do? I am desperate, as I don't have a phone and would love to get it back working soon enough.
Any ideas??? Thanks in advance, Kosm.

Hello, I also found a windows machine to try, but it makes no difference to trying on my mac.. thing is, I dont think I enabled usg debugging, before I come into this problem, so now that I cannot enter my phone, it doesn't get recognised as a phone anywhere.. it only sees it as D:, where I cannot do nothing..
Can I activate usb debugging from inside TWRP somewhere?
Thanks for supporting my noob questions with such patience!!

You don't need usb debugging. usb debugging is only needed to use ADB commands when the phone is booted in the OS. You can use FASTBOOT commands from the bootloader and ADB commands from custom recovery both without USB Debugging.
What version of windows is your computer running?
What is your phone hboot version? (you can see when booted in bootloader)
When your phone is booted in bootloader mode/fastboot usb, go in windows device manager. The phone should be listed there if its detected. Is you phone in the list? Does it says "Android USB devices --> My HTC" ?
1. windows 8.1
2. 1.57.0000
3. Yes, it finds it, only when I boot into HBOOT/fastboot USB. If I let it open as it does alone at TWRp, it doesn't find it.

So whats the problem with "fastboot getvar all" ?
Boot your phone in bootloader/fastboot usb mode (hold power and volume down until it reboots to the bootloader or from twrp recovery select "reboot" --> "Bootloader") and then open your command prompt form your adb/fasboot folder on your computer:
Code:
fastboot getvar all

adb push [source] [destination]
Function: Copy files from your computer to your phone.
The push command allows you to copy files from your computer to your phone without touching your device. This is particularly handy for copying large files from your computer to your phone like movies or ROMs. In order to use this command, you'll need to know the full file path for both your source and destination. If the file you want to copy is already in your tools folder (where ADB lives), you can simply enter the name of the file as the source.

Thank you for the quick reply. I am downloading the files now. How can I save this rom to the root of my phone storage? HTC sync manager doesn't see my phone.. :/
edit: This way?
adb push [source] [destination]

Get rid of HTC sync, it can cause issue when using adb and fastboot. Uninstall it (but don't uninstall the drivers).
Then you can use adb push like you said:
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard
Command prompt will be unresponsive for like 5-10 minutes, its normal.
Or if you have twrp 2.8.4.0+ you will see your phone like a storage device on your computer when booted in recovery so you just need to drag and drop the file to your storage.

too bad I don't have a new version of TWRP, checked and it is 2.6.3.0..
got rid of HTC sync, but kept the drivers as is. Also now that the zip is downloaded, I tried to run the command 'adb push', but it gives me error: device not found... is that logical? :/
I am desperate, seems that nothing works for me, what am I doing wrong?

Your phone drivers are not installed correctly. When booted in twrp recovery go in windows device manager again. Is the device listed or its a " ! " logo? If yes then install the drivers: http://www.mediafire.com/download/msfud4uem3gew2d/HTC-Mobile-Driver_v4.14.0.001.exe
You might want to update your twrp as well, will be easier to deal with the rom.
you can find twrp 2.8.5.0 here: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-m7.img
save it in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot installed. Reboot your phone in bootloader mode / fastboot usb
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then enter in recovery mode, you should see your phone when going to "My computer" --> "One". Copy the rom to "My Computer\One\Internal Storage"
then in twrp select "install" and then choose the rom and swipe to install.

I ran the drivers installer, told me they exist, so did a repair.
Later, I was able to run the command and write the TWRP 2.8.5.0 recovery properly.
I restarted the phone to enter recovery mode, but it gets stuck forever in the first white page, saying Entering recovery..., the HTC logo and the message 'this build is for development purposes...blah blah'. I did all as you said.

Try to restore your phone using a RUU then. YOu have s-off, super CID and "super MID". you can use any RUU you want. The latest version is 7.19.401.2 and available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B17smFr95pleSFhvZHd2a0RkTFE/view. Rename the file "ruu" (ruu.zip) and save it in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot reboot

renamed to ruu, saved in the same folder, 'fastboot oem rebootRUU' finished in 0.047 secs, then tried to 'fastboot flash zip ruu.zip', but the fastboot.exe quits...

try with this fastboot.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59412137&postcount=38
looks like the newer ruu must be flashed with htc_fastboot unlike older ones.

you are right! downloaded the htc_fastboot and it started sending the ruu.zip. Fingers crossed, I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again for the continuous support!
