[Need Help]Stock kitkat sprint kernel flashable .zip - Moto X Q&A

hey guys Im currently on the stock enhanced kitkat kernel thats offered to us but Im having problems with it not waking the phone when i hit the wake button and then i have to hold power and volume up to hard reboot it.
so im looking for a stock sprint kitkat kernel flashable zip but I cant find one. Am I blind? or does this not exist

Grab one from the official firmware zip file and flash it using fastboot

There is not one on the forums but I will grab it from the OTA if you can't find it when I get back home
Also when you flashed the new kernel it made a boot image called boot_backup.img you can flash that via mfastboot to get back your stock kernel
from my XT1056 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Edit: ok so i just flashed the boot_backup.img and i can state that everything works fine it flashed to stock Kernel and i am no longer having the wake issue's but i am still in the process of pulling the kernel for you. but you are going to have to flash it via fastboot
the command you will use is
Code:
fastboot flash boot image-name.img

Hello,
I got my self the stock rom. So which file do I need to flash to get the stock kernel back? and only the stock kernel

Boot.img

Do I have to root it again after that?
EDIT: No, I don't have to

[Q] Odin not an option

Ok so I posted a thread earlier about how my usb drivers arent working at all so using odin to flash back to stock is not an option. I did however successfully root and install andromeda without them. Now heres the problem, I backed up the stock rom using rom manager. Anromeda installed a kernel and modem so I cant use rom manager to back up the rom unless I get the kernel and modem back. My question is could I somehow find the stock kernel file and use neldars sgs kernel flasher to flash the kernel back while still using the andromeda rom withouth having any problems? Also, will the modem affect my rom at all because I will change it as soon as i switch roms
H you can not flash a 2.1 Kernel on a 2.2 rom
Not sure what you are looking to do though
Im looking to install a different rom the problem is that I cant use odin because of the drivers not working. What im trying to say is if i flash the backup stock rom from rom manager its going to cause problems because its using andromedas kernel right?
Let me put it like this...is their another way to flash back to stock without using odin and without using a usb cable?

yes. you will need a CWM flashable zip of a 2.1 kernel and modem.
you would boot into CWM, flash that zip that includes kernel and modem, then restore your nandroid backup
ok thankyou!!! Ill try and locate the files myself but if anyone knows where they are and can tell me would be much appreciated.
why dont you just flash a 2.2 kernel with built-in clockwork mod recovery? you dont have to keep the kernel that came with your rom...
so... use sgs kernel flasher, why not? flash a new kernel then boot into its recovery (usually thrugh the power button menu on custom rom/kernels)...
Because I'm trying to install another custom rom, if i install a 2.2 kernel then flash back to.the stock rom which is 2.1 wont that cause problems?

Search jh7 ota design gears posted it a while back. Just must disable all lag fix before flash
ok so i found the file do i go into recovery and reinstall packages or choose zip file ?
With lag fix disabled
Select zip from sd, choose zip, jh7, confirm
Thank you man, helped out alot

Why bother flashing back to stock at all? Just flash the new Rom and save all the headaches having to screw with lagfix.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
A better option would be to borrow a friends computer for a minute and fix everything properly...
If I flash a new rom while using Andromeda instead of stock wouldn't that cause.problems on the phone because of the.files being.mixed.or something

[ODIN][N8013]Stock Kernel and Recovery Images

This post will contain N8013 stock kernel and recovery images. For UEALGB these were dumped from a device that was rooted using the "root injection of /system" approach. For UEALH2, they are simply extracted from the Kies dump at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706 so that you can get a stock kernel or recovery without downloading 1GB of files.
If you flash any of these using Odin, they should not trigger your flash counter. Note that for some reason, flashing these in Heimdall will trigger the counter (unlike Heimdall on most other devices).
Pardon for some ignorance. What should be the steps to follow in order to root from an updated to latest OTA update stock Rom on a 32gb USA version? Do I need to flash the kernel, or just recovery should be ok?

Why don't u ask this in the root thread?
Here is what you should do:
Root Via CWM (method 2 in the root thread)
1. Download and put the superuserzip on your internal memory on your device
2. In odin uncheck auto reboot and load the cwmrecovery tar in the pda slot
3. Start odin
4. Once finished boot directly into clockwork (volume up and power til the samsung screen then let go of power while holding volume up)
5. Use the volume rockers to scroll in clockwork cause its finicky and flash the superuser zip you put on your device.
6. reboot
7. Make sure you have root and touch screen and pen works
8. Download goo manager
9. In goo manager hit menu and hit the install recovery script
10. DONE
Have any problems odin back to a stock image and if things go bad flash entropys triangle away kernel and clear your binary count
Any chance you could update the thread to account for the updated kernel for the N8013, that adds support for exFAT?

Hey guys,I just picked up a GT-N8010 -Canadian Wifi version - running LG4 firrmware, will any of these stock recoveries work for me or do I need an LG4 recovery?
Looking to root via cwm then restore stock recovery so I can receive OTA's.

For OTAs - no, these will probably not work.
Ok I downloaded the UEALGB stock recovery tar again and it contains only boot.img. Is the link bad or am I just screwy?

I have the Canadian 8010 model, and installed the prerooted firmware that was provided. It didnt flash right the first time but the second time it did. Everything works great and Im rooted with CWM. The only thing I noticed is that it says I have the 8013 model now which is probably because of the firmware but its not a big deal.

Does anyone have a working UEALGB stock recovery?
Please, update the LGB recovery. I think that's the kernel.
Can I flash the H2 recovery in a LGB rom??
Cheers!

You can't, but you can flash the entire H2 ODIN image from here (about 1GB):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706
and not lose your data. You lose root though (which you can get again through the alternate recovery method)
Can we get a kernel and recovery from UEALI3 please.
Can someone dump latest firmware please and pm me.

Thank you.

Broken LockScreen (JB)

Hi XDA im new there i was looking for this issue everywhere but doesnt seems like its somewhere
when i installed Jelly bean i had fully working device but i pressed lock button and there it started when i want to unlock it i have screen like this
dl.dropbox.com/u/55724162/DSC_0885(.DOT)JPG
I used 3 versions of CM 10 JB
Still same issues and my Recovery is CWM 6.0.0.8
Thx in advance
Cant use link but i think its important to see it so please be nice
What specific tab do you have?
Edit and what rom
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I have P7310
Tested these jelly beans:
cm-10-20121111-UNOFFICIAL-p5wifi
cm-10-20121025-UNOFFICIAL-p5wifi
cm-10.1-20121222-UNOFFICIAL-p5wifi
and in everyone i got this issue right after first attempt to unlock from sleep mode (via lockscreen)
same AOSP_14-01-2013_Beta-14 P5wifi
Well your picture doesn't look good, can't do much on it can you? Does it only do it on the cm10 roms? I'm not sure what to tell you but I'd try fixing permissions in your recovery.
What recovery are you using and how did you flash it. Factory reset, wipes, etc
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Bassicaly i did all wipes then instaled rom then Gapps and then rebooted
Like i said my recovery is this Clockwork_Recovery_6.0.0.8_GT-P7310_alternate
And if you flash the stock rom it doesn't do it. You might try that to rule out hardware issues
Edit: found someone else who had a similar problem. There is an issue with the boot loader. If you odin the stock rom and then flash the cm rom. That fixed it. You'll of course, have to reinstall your recovery and root.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Just tried one stock rom and it says
Finding update
Opening
Installing
Inslalation aborted
// I got that its ok to moment when i push lock/unlock button . When i had it on Charger i saw the battery ok but after i pressed lock it goes scattered/distorded like i show u picture. I really dunno what this is but im going via backup back to my gingerbread *SADNESS*
Where did you get the stock rom? Go to sammobile.com for it. You have to register, but it's free you'll download a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. Use that in Odin, PDA.

the problem is your "unlocked" bootloader. you can only get OTA updates with a "relocked" or "locked" bootloader.
just use fastboot and type in "fastboot oem lock" and it should work if your still on stock-rom.
Would it be named "OTA_WL_JB_spcs_wwe".zip

The OTA. I havent downloaded any roms at all I'm still on stock
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
so you've downloaded a zip-file which contains the OTA update, right? if yes, you'd just have to flash this file in your recovery.
As I understand it, Your phone has a OTA available via [Settings - About - Software Updates]
You have downloaded and tried to install - but it boots the custom recovery instead of the stock recovery.
To fix this you would need to install a stock recovery.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2373111
Hope that was what you was after.

this was what i thought too, but then he mentioned his zip file... when you do an OTA via settings, you should never see this zip...
but i agree with SolCenva, flash stock recovery, lock your bootloader and it must work..

Once unlocked, can't relock & get OTA?

Hello,
So I just want to clear something out. So once I have used a the Asus app and unlocked my tab, I CANNOT relock it again? Also once unlocked, I can no longer receive OTA from Asus and therefore have to download it manually?
I just need clarification on these two questions. Thank you.

Yep, it's a one-way process.
But we can still download the official update from Asus and flash as long as we are on stock recovery, correct? And if i'm not mistaken, we can always revert back to stock recovery. Just can't go back to a locked bootloader.
Damn if I knew this I wouldn't have... oh well. Thanks for the answers!

Another problem: I up had installed cwm recovery and cromi Rom from here. I wanted to revert back to stock firmware, so I downloaded the zip from asus site and put in root directory, however when I flash the zip with CWM it always gives me status 6 error. I searched this and I tried a possible solution using notepad++ but didn't work. Can anyone help me why I can't install stock firmware without getting the status 6 error?

You can't flash the stock firmware from cwm. You need to fastboot flash the stock recovery from droid basement and then extract the stock zip onto your internal card and boot that way. Alternatively you could just flash my stock ROM in the Dev section.
Why do you want to go back to pure stock?
Wow lol I spend hours trying to flash through CWM. thank u very much sdbags. I wanted to revert back because, lol my WiFi was acting wiered with the ROM. some apps like "showbox" worked fine with stock, but with cromi it would go very slow and take really long to load a list of movies or shows. I Donni maybe wifi drivers are not same on cromi? Anyway, thanks for the stock installation solution.

Why don't you just flash my Asus Stock ROM first? It's 99.9% the Asus files - just with ROOT added.
I haven't tested the following but if you MUST flash the Asus Stock from a PC you would do it using the following. I won't take any responsibility if you brick and you do this at your own risk. Personally if I were you I wouldn't do it this way as flashing my Asus Stock will do EXACTLY the same. Note that the below instructions are for 4.2.2. Be warned - it will erase the bootloader so if it doesn't flash properly you will brick permanently.
