I started to notice screen flickering, screen turning off randomly, random black boxes and artifacts showing up. I've had the tablet for under a month and absolutely never dropped it or hit it or anything. I tried a factory reset thinking it might be a software issue but nothing changed.
Since I was still under my return period, I decided to return it for a refund. I could have sent it out for repair (covered under warranty) or had it replaced with a different TF701t but the issue seemed like it was an issue with the Tegra4 GPU and not with the specific device.
I am going to purchase something that has a Qualcomm processor and Adreno GPU as I've NEVER faced problems with any Qualcomm phone or tablet. Tegra has great features but the stability (and development) is lacking.
I would have loved to keep this amazingly designed and solidly built tablet by Asus but the chipset caused me to give up on it. Hopefully anyone else facing this issue can chime in and let others know that this issue exists (maybe it really was just my specific unit?). Sad to let it go but glad I got rid of it for a full refund.
That's unfortunate, nothing wrong with mine

Yeah, I've had the black boxes on Chrome only, but that has gone since the most recent update.
Have you ordered something else? Note 3 10.1 2014?

Ya, chrome was the only app that I saw the black boxes in too.
The back light flickering I noticed in just about every app. But like I said, the most recent update fixed all of that for me. I don't think there is anything wrong with the Tegra4 chipset, just software bugs that Asus is working out.

I gotta say, I disagree that it is a specific problem to the Tegra 4 series. I own this tablet and I got an EVGA Tegra Note 7 for my wife for Christmas, and neither device has given me black squares in Chrome or any other application for that matter. I did get the loose dock/charging port, sent in for a replacement and this one has been fine.
I will say, the grass is always greener on the other side, Adreno's are after all not without their own set of issues.
For this tablet, I'm just going to go ahead and admit that Asus has typically always had fairly horrible software development, and as time goes on hopefully they will get their act together.
If you do go with the LG G Pad, try and find the google play edition that recently came out, LG has a horrible habit of bloating the OS.

Except I've had either CPU or GPU issues with:
- LG Optimus 2x (Tegra 2)
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Tegra 2)
- HTC One X (Tegra 3)
- HTC One X+ (Tegra 3)
- Asus TF701t (Tegra 4)
I've never faced similar problems with Exynos chips nor any problems with Qualcomm chips.

and don't know what you are talking about :good: so we are even. lol
I have the TF701T and had the TF700T. No problem whatsoever with the GPU. After reading the comments here, from others, I'm confident in saying is an isolated issue, and not an issue with the GPU.

maybe a problem with users eyes ... acer a510 af tf701 no issus here besides software related on tf701.
I highly doubt it's an isolated issue across all those devices. If that is actually true, this guy has the WORST luck when it comes to purchasing Tegra powered devices.
I'm going to go with user error, or with....

I prefer IPS than over-saturated super-amoleds as well. So if LTE2 is an international phone, then I'll definitely prefer it over the S3 as well.
And... LG's models always look hot. Their phones look nice too.

Yeah, we all know that for a fact.
Thing is, I came from a Moto Milestone, and support was actually worse there. And I'm hearing some people complain about Sammy and HTC support too. So at this point, it kinda feels like Google Phone or bust.
wont buy another lg phone.. support sucks (as already mentioned).
Love my O2X due to the great o2x devs doing their magic..
But its hard for a new phone to gain that much users and devs.
We'll see about that but my next phone will be a nexus for sure
O2x is the best phone I've used tbh, our gingerbread release is still top notch on CM7, and ICS isn't a necessity yet, just something we love to ***** about.

Also think that IPS screens are better and more realistic than AMOLEDs, and the one on LTE2, with HD resolution, could be the best one out there!
I am keeping an eye on this phone, too. LG has great hardware, and LTE2 not being based on Tegra chipset makes it just better for devs to do their magic. 'Nough for me!

Honestly, the ONLY problem I had with my phone, was that after a while it would 'stutter', in vid's/game's etc. I believe this was down to bad memory management and ony 512MB RAM. If that had been sorted I would NOT have good rid of my O2X for anything. It didn't EVERYTHING I wanted and more. Was a cracking good phone.
I think too many people get into wanting to hate companies and forget about the actual product.
Waiting for this phone as well, since the Galaxy S3 looks ridiculous.
Was waiting for the 4X, but I don't want another Tegra device.

ASUS has done a darn good job with frequent updates for their Tablets and the fastest ICS Delivery. I think the Padfone will be a device I'll have a very close look at.
Obviously Optimus LTE2 will have brilliant hardware, but if it wouldn't have CyanogenMod suppoted, it will not be the phone I want.

That's how I read it, too; frankly, I think it would be pretty hard from any of the N4 release photos that would reveal distance between the display & glass.

First use of Zerogap Touch for Real Touch
It’s nice to be part of a conglomerate. Working with its vertically-integrated sister companies, LG incorporated the industry-first Zerogap Touch technology into the Optimus G.
As the first smartphone with the Zerogap Touch, the Optimus G boasts a cover glass that’s different from typical touch screen cover glass. While the others are typically topped with ITO film or a glass sensor, the Zerogap Touch has an ITO sensor film printed directly on the glass, removing the air gap that is normally trapped between the two elements.

Wait, you exhibit poor reading skills yourself, then chide another for the same? It wasn't nonsense at all, clearly on-topic. Nobody can stay abreast of the latest at this neck-breaking pace.
That said, this phone will have at least one less area in which dust can congregate. Yay!
Hmmm I just don't understand the glass back design...? Everybody have laughed at the iPhone 4 and 4s design which broke almost just by looking at it - or at least when dropped from little height. And now Google - as I see it - makes the same mistake!

The difference is the plastic has a lip over the glass so if you were to drop the phone on it's corner The glass itself wouldn't make contact. However I could be misinformed.
It'll be interesting to see drop tests of this device, though. I do love drop tests.
EDIT: I must agree with you, though. The glass back wasn't very wise... :/
That's a good deal bro. imo you should return your GNII and buy the N4 first. Then wait the the 3G/4G version of N10. It will be better thought.
Glass back doesn't bother me. I just won't drop the phone

Embrace the sense of freedom, it feels amazing when you're coming from a HTC or Sammy device... so, SO many roms and kernels to chose from and they all mostly work together, unlike for example HTC One X where half the kernels dont work with the other half of the roms and you gotta repack and flash the kernel through fastboot... what a chore just to switch kernel. And S-off... ffff... Anyways welcome to the world of Nexus and hope all your flashing experiences go smoothly! :good::good::good:

yeah you hit the nail right on the head a phone full of junk!!! that and knox I really dont understand why sammy added that..
All i actually did was roll into tmobile to pay my bill and while i was waiting I saw this device just chilling there looking like a chocolate bar so as i started messing with it I realized that some of the roms i flashed on my note 3that i really liked originated from this devise.. So i sat down looked it up, checked out some reviews played with it some more and realized this is the true android experience i crave.. well actually i pulled up the xda site to see how much "love" this device was getting and that kinda sold me.. the development is huge here... Im running droidkang right now which im loving..
one question tho is there any way when i flash a rom how do i keep my music from being deleted?? What i do is basically just redownload it from my laptop, is there an easier way?? Im just used to having that internal mem card... thanks for the warm welcome all..
WELCOME

No problem. I looked into it and there are a few other new tablets experiencing the same thing. I just zoom in and it looks better. [emoji2]

Also dpi settings too. Changing them changes it a lot. Happens on my note 4

Does it need to be rooted to mess with that feature of dpi

I believe its the only way until coc manage its resolution scaling differently. And even then...on android 5.0 to 5.1 they display differently. Looks better standard dpi on 5.1 than it did before
Damn my s2 is late version and I was reading they don't have root for it yet

Yeah, resolution is a little messed up. But my main thing is the screen is way too sensitive.... when farming, trying to drop multiple troops at a time just makes the whole thing zoom in... it's not even playable because the screen touch is way too sensitive... it's obviously more than capable of running Clash.. I just don't know how to reduce the sensitivity... maybe get a plastic screen cover or something....
Ive heard people say that aswell i dont seem to have that problem as much my thing is it looks soooo bad now im leasing a tablet that i dont even use basically cuz of how horrible it looks i usually just play on the phone and until they come ojt with lte version root i dont really have any options

Ive had the same problem. Hoping for a solution soon but there is a work around. If you reboot your tablet and start COC it will properly scale in full resolution and it looks insane on this tablet (i have the 9.7). Sometimes you have to reboot more than once but usually once will do it. As long as you don't kill the app the proper resolution will stick. If you kill it in task manager or hit the back button until you get the 'Exit Clash' prompt it will revert to low rez the next time you launch it. Every now and then (seems like once a week or so for me) it will randomly revert back anyway. So weird. Then you reboot and you're good again. FYI switching users on the tablet (multi profile) will break this which really sucks for me cause i have multiple clash accounts. Anyway this solution has kept me at bay. Hope it helps others.

Hey good call on that this thing looks amazing now that's so weird though I don't understand why it would do that it obviously has the ability to look good so what's causing it to go low Def makes me wonder.

Idk man. It's super weird and quite annoying. I've tried messing with a bunch of options in developer mode and cant figure it out.

Hi. Do you have touch screen sensitivity issue where you think you have selected a troop but the touch does not get registered on tab s2 8.0? Tried hard reset, still no luck.
Anyone had apps crash / close not responding or phone reboots ?
Installed stability patch that was released but still getting reboots of os and app crashes.

Nope no problems here, everything runs clean and smooth. Maybe you should hard reset?
No issues here

Lorditler. I'm no troll buddy. Sadly my Nokia 8 is going back. Crashes, reboots, smart lock doesn't work period.
I'm pretty gutted about it not being 100% from the get go.

I've had the odd app crash and reboot, I've got one more week to decide if I'm keeping it. Only thing is, I'm not sure there's anything else around that's going to be pure android with these specs for the same price. Pixel 2 is interesting, but likely to be £700+...

You sound like your exactly where I'm at smudger40. My phone arrived last wed so under DSR I've got a fortnight. After a fortnight I'm stuck with it for the next 2 years.
I'm after a near stock / totally stock android phone which leaves the pixel.
But like you I'm watching what price it is released at and with the fruity firm releasing a £1150 handset, what's not to say the pixel 2 hasn't suddenly gone up even more.
Like yourself I suspect it's going to be around £750 ish.
Which makes the Nokia a real bargain. My Nokia is going back so I'm covered under DSR and im just going to sit on the fence and see what pixel 2 looks like come oct.
And at that point i maybe re-order the nokia and hope I get a better one than the one I'm returning.
As for the X phone... I think this will open the flood gates to 3 year phone contracts to make the phone contract affordable or people are going to have to put 300-400 towards the handset cost.

I've had random reboots. Also issues with phone app and alarm. Phone app is being silent and unresponsive, alarm is just silent.
No issues here at all. Maybe try a factory reset and run with bare minimum a day or 2.
If it still happens it could very well be issues specific to your phone and you should be able to return it and get it either replaced or repaired.
My phone version is... Read below ?

Running a flagship phone with bare minimum? That makes no sense.
I have random reboots, phone app crashes on incoming calls, apps lag heavily, phone gets stuck in landscape mode.
Even the original ZTE Blade had better software than this. This is my first Nokia phone in 17 years and I will probably never get another one.

The very least you can do is to factory reset and some basic trial and error... If the service workshop factory reset it and can't find issues they basically end up claiming you caused the problems. Gathering some proof makes them look like the idiot instead.
It could very well be hardware related since mine works perfectly. **** happens. No brand has 100% flawless phones.
Avoid Nokia if you must... But then avoid Samsung due to Note 7 aka Firestarter, Sony due to random reboots on my Z5 premium (that they fixed later), Apple due to critically flawed updates... The list can go rather large if you really put some time on finding reasons to avoid something.

A interesting question... All with issues is that TA-1012? Mine is TA-1004. Only issue I've seen is that I had Data Saver function enabled a few times automatically.

Already am avoiding all brands you mentioned.
I really like the Nokia 8. Just what I really wanted but, mines not been right from the first day. However, having seen pics that were leaked last night of the pixel 2, I think that looks a proper minger. Then there's leaks of the Nokia 9 appearing every where.
Sitting this one out till Nov when either I go Nokia 8/9 or minger phone (pixel 2 XL) depending on how stupidly it is priced

I have exactly the same issues, with the phone app crashing and alarm is silent sometimes, have you found a solution to your problem?
As others have not had this issue I've returned my handset to carrier. Awaiting a replacement bud
