Read that kingo is pretty darn good. I rooted with it no problem. Shortly afterwards my date connection was throttled into the stone ages. ATT said I was good on their end. I removed the root and was good to go. Anyone else have any issues with it?

Why do you make these screwy and very annoying posts?
Are you a bot or something?
U've been posting to every thread the last day or two?
OP, how do you know you were throttled? (got any speedtest.net screen shots?) How much data usage were you at?

Same when I had to exchange phone I did the 2nd with kingo and didn't experience this. Did you do anything else? Age could have just been fluke spot or maybe in or nesting your throttle limit

If you used Kingo, just go into Superuser, settings and select unroot. if you rooted another way you are SOL.

i wouldnt chance a root with such a new phone i mean the sbf and what not is barely out there!
trust me i didnt do anything, is there a way to check to see how it was rooted?
I could maybe possibly see a spontaneous bug rooting your phone, but it could not have possibly been a bug that installed superuser and the terminal emulator. Possibilities I can see:
1. You used to have a rooted phone and synced the backup with your bionic, thus reinstalling superuser.
2. someone else rooted it for you without telling you
3. You bought the phone used and it was already rooted

Here it is enjoy. Also you need to reboot and turn it on and off a few times as described in the guide.
Also may need to change the starting ip. I had to do that on a few of them. But I can confirm it does work.
Also this mehtod works best with the verizon hotspot app. I haven't bothered trying to get wireless tether to work. But I'm sure its possible

I have a feeling you downloaded an app or a 3rd party app. A while vback there was a scare where an app actually rooted your phone without you knowing. Its far fetch but not impossible. Seen it happened before.
That's why its so important to check permissions on all apps and especially funky dev names.

I'm still rooted with kingo. Until they find something definitively wrong with it I don't feel like going through the hassle of wiping my phone and starting from scratch.
I had already rooted using it. As soon as they come out with an actual reason to not use it I'll unroot immediately. Until then I'm fine with a working root .

nope not after what happened with me
i think there is something up with kingo. i had some weird issues with it when i tried it. for one i couldnt get the custom icon off the screen no matter what i did with kingo root. kingo root kept stuff running in the back ground which i didnt like at all. all my firewall and antivirus software went crazy and flagged, blocked, and deleted it right away. i went back to the first root method with root de la vega and after the first try my custom icon is gone and nothing is flagged or suspicious
I'm still using it. It's working perfectly and flawlessly for me. Until I see hard evidence I don't see a point in switching especially since I do not want to wipe. If I get bored and decide to re flash for the hell of it I'll use de la Vega obviously but as of now I'm content.

You honestly think that if they are up to something like planning some crazy malware attack that they would just up and tell you and not lie about it and be super friendly? That said. Kingo devs immediately contacted XDA admins and are already working on a new version of the app that conforms to XDA standards (see the last modpost here). They also responded immediately to my concerns with exactly what information was collected and what it was used for. In my opinion, they are not "planning some crazy malware attack". I mean there is always a chance, but there is a chance in anything custom you do to your phone, you just have to gather all the information and weigh your options. Then make your own decision on it.

You misunderstand the purpose of asking them for an explanation. It was not done in the expectation of a confession if the software had indeed been malicious. Rather, it was done to find out if a plausible, benign reason for the IMEI behavior exists. And their reply does offer such a reason. In fact, it's difficult to think of a plausible HARMFUL use of the IMEI.

I was using it for a quick minute but have since moved on..
I'm still using it and it appears to be running great. I've not received any hard evidence that it is anything but good rooting software.
Dose the kingo install any apps on the phone beside the su and the supersu?
If it collect the IMEI what is the point from formatting/unrooting or flashing the phone? It already done!!

Yeah the APN settings changed itself to tmobile's LTE settings. kinda weird but it did.
Signal strength is based on your network, not really your phone, but I get LTE 80-90% of the time from the places that I go to (mostly in cities and urban areas)

and if you're too lazy to do it manually, you can always plug in a working ATT simcard for it to update then switch back to your tmoible sim card.

I just got a notification that a software update is being downloaded, yet I can't seem to see what exactly it is. I never took the 4.4 update because I was rooted and it was way too much trouble to install it, so I stayed on 4.3.
