You didn't happen to root using SlapMyMoto, did you?
If so, you might want to read up on what that rooting process does to your stock Recovery.

Volume up is select. I believe you scroll around with volume down and use up to select. Weird, I know...

Yes that's the way I do it.
By the way I rooted my phone with RockMyMoto.

If you're rooted, you don't have a recovery. Recovery for us bypasses write protection. You shouldn't have done anything to warrant the wiping of the cache. So, don't worry about it.

Yes seams so, i am booting into recovery when i want to change something in /system, which disables the write protection for the time being.
Thanks anyway.

Complete Brick?

Guys if you are in a complete brick of your phone there's a trick. If you hold the volume down and power button, then right when the logo comes up you just let go of the power and press it again quickly it will try to do a factory reset. I was able to get into TWRP thanks to that and install CM. Just a heads up.
Do you really know what 'complete brick' is?

Well you can't get into a recovery because there is no button configuration so in the case of installing a bad rom and being in a boot loop without USB Debugging, you are basically in a complete brick.

I'd say a complete brick is when your phone doesn't turn on in any case and you can't even do a factory reset with hardware buttons. Anything up to that is a soft brick imho. In such an event your suggested 'trick' wouldn't really do anything.

Yes you can get to recovery with key combos. See the link in my last post. View Q14 in that threads OP.

[Q] Followed directions and.. nothing

So i recently bought a nexus 6 from att..
I had rooted it an unlocked the bootloader.
after a few days OI have decided that I dont really like the size of it and want to return it for something else.
I followed the guide to unroot it and all that, but when I get to the step of booting into recovery, it says no command..
So i tried to continue to follow directions by holding the power+ volume up key to boot into recovery, and then it just boots through to the setup screen..
am i finished or do I need to re flash the recovery?
Thanks in advance for any help provided.
i dont know what you did, but all you have to do is flash the factory img via fastboot.

I followed this guide to the letter, except for this part:
"- After everything finished, select "Recovery" using the volume buttons.
- When a small Android appears, press Power Button + Volume UP.
- Select "Wipe data/factory data reset"
I didnt get the option to do any of that, should I assume that its all good and clean?
I do appreciate your help, and I am just trying to cover my tracks haha.
I was just concerned that I couldnt get it to go into recovery to do that final wipe, I dont want to have to pay for it from ATT..

[Q] Stuck at boot splash screen and will not reboot into recovery

Hello all,
I haven't touched my M7 in about 6 months but I figure it's time I try to fix it. Here are the following symptoms of my problem: it won't boot past the splash screen, it won't boot into recovery, and it doesn't like powering up unless it's plugged into a wall socket.
Is there any way I can RUU this or force it into fastboot or recovery?
press vol down + power button to enter bootloader and then choose fastboot
Sorry should have specified that I already tried that.
Is it unlocked or not? Does it have stock or custom recovery?

Did you try holding the power button for few seconds till capacitive buttons start flashing? After they stop keep holding the power button and press vol down. That should take you to bootloader menu

Sorry, seems I left out quite a bit. Was up late messing with it to see if I could get anything done and it was probably due to lack of sleep.
I believe it was after I had tried to RUU. Unforunately I don't remember with which .zip file, but I'm going to assume I didn't screw that up as I've had to RUU quite a few times and hadn't messed that up just yet.

Help with bootlooped Nexus 6 with broken vol. down button

Long story short. was flashing roms/mods on a spare Nexus 6 of mine and ended up in a bootloop. Now i'd NORMALLY just boot into recovery/fastboot and fix it or restore a backup but that is where i'm running into my fabolous problem of mine. The volume down button is broke so you can't push it in and or hold it. So what i'm wanting to know is if anyone knows a workaround for booting into recovery or fastboot so i can restore this phone. ANY suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

He's lucky if ADB daemon starts , otherwise he won't be able to adb it.
connect to fastboot while you're in the bootloader, then type reboot recovery

good point, but occasionally during bootloops, itll boot into the bootloader. only other thing i can think of is to power it off, and try to connect it to adb, the try reboot recovery.

sure you can, that's an easy one. power your n6 off, then boot up with the power button + volume down pressed, this will boot you into the bootloader. the bootloader is the ONLY place that fastboot works. duh.. :silly:
oh, btw, I AM dumb. broken volume down button, right.

Wave I have a lg l90, as reported here:
I installed cm13 with gapps successfully ...
I've been using it normally since then...
But in an attempt to run the "es file explorer" in root mode, I installed the supersu from the play store. I opened it, and he asked to restart by TWRP.
It restarted, opened the twrp... And after restarting, the CM will be booting forever.
Can someone help me?

Try wiping Dalvik and cache..
To get into twrp Turn off phone then Turn on with power button and pressing volume down button.. when lg logo appears release both buttons and press again both until a white screen appears. Use volume keys and power key to select yes.
If wiping cache and Dalvik dont work probably u have to flash cm again.

Really, I have no problem unbrick/formatting my cell phone... In losing data, information, etc.
This time, I would just like to save some pictures of my son that are in this device.
So by pressing "yes" to that question, it will not erase the data, but call the twrp?
