That 'white' light looks to be your camera picking up the infrared light from the proximity sensor

Question for devs: Capacitive button backlight off during watching videos

Hi Devs, do you think it would be possible for a mod to be created that dims or switches off the Capacitive buttons backlights off whilst watching videos or Youtube? Would be especially handy when watching videos in the dark. Kind of annoying having the bright capacitive button lights there when trying to watch in the dark.
Cheers!

You could try downloading a camera app the features manual focus, but even still if you absolutely can't see you'll have to guess and try it a few times to get it right.

What sensors, do you mean proximity sensor, front camera sensor or ambient light sensor?
Sent from my C5303 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Simply dial *#*#7378423#*#* and go to Service tests and you will get options to perform different checks like light sensors, proximity and others sensor
If you want to check via an app you can use CPU Z https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cpuid.cpu_z
When you go to the sensors tab it will show you what your phone sensors spit out.
As for the proximity sensor its 1cm standard and when you touch the top of your screen (between the camera and the speaker) its should go to 0
try that
Thanks everyone.

You are welcome but if CPU Z does not recognize your proximity sensor you might need to flash the original 245 kernel from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367488)
using flashtool!

Moto actions no-stock

Hi all, is there a way to keep moto actions on no-stock rom, whit a porting or something like this? Thanks in advance..
Inviato dal mio MotoG3 utilizzando Tapatalk
If you build a custom ROM based off of a stock build I believe you can. However I haven't found a custom ROM with the ability and believe it is closed source.

Well, is it something like the slowmo function that need some motorola stock libs for working, or it simply "a gesture" and nothing else? what i would to know is that if is enough fash some ported app like "moto" or "moto actions" for have gestures working on no-stock roms!

I tried just installing the moto apk for that but I get a popup saying not official Motorola device. The function is a mirror of ambient display sort of. Moto actions (chop chop, double twist) are already implemented in most custom ROMs for our device. (Including official CM)
Another user made a package for the moto camera and gallery with play store hooks, I'm gonna try that and installing moto with it. I'll report back.

Chop chop and double twist are what I'm talking about, and if you say that tery are already implemented on custom rom you have quite asked my question... For moto display, there is a xposed module working on the same way and for stock Motorola camera, when you try to flash it, take a look for the slowmo.. Thanks!

Glad I could help heh yeah they're called CMactions on custom ROMs.
These photos are what I get on cm12.1 rooted but I'll try xposed! I prefer moto display over ambient but haven't solved this yet. I got more faith now. :good:

The module it's called ac display, but.. I thinking about it, i remember that on CM 12.1 for moto g 2nd generation there is something very close this function, under "gesture" menu in display option, if I'm not mistaken... Try to take a look if you have this menu.. In this case, whit cm actions and cm gestures, the moto application it's useless, unless you use "do not disturb" function.. That if I'm not mistaken again, it's included on cm too!!!

You are doubly correct! [moto is absolutely useless, especially with the native Do Not Disturb settings from LP.]
(I turn off DT because it goes off so often in my pocket lol)
Thanks! I'm going to check that out, appreciate the share!

I'd love to see this running as a stand-alone flashable zip. It would be great to have on a N6! I believe they have most, if not all the necessary hardware, it just needs some libs and drm, probabaly

Well, there isn't nothing special hardware that N6 have not (unless your device hasn't accelerometer )
You cant try to ask in yor rom thread if somebody able to program can try to extract that functions from the CM for moto g 2015!!

Yes there is...the cpu, for example, has the ability to keep the display active while sleeping. There are differences, but I believe the N6 is essentially a twin of the retail Moto X, just in a different chassis.

Yes there is... the sensor hub in our device is the key here.
And all of that is coded on kernel drivers.
The app just listens to events from it.

Well... Different devices have different kernels due to different ram processor and other sensors.. But when a sensor like accelerometer or gyro are the same.. The function it might work on two different devices at the same way...

I build kernels for lot's of devices, I know

How can I see which sensor hub is? I'm not a programmer... But if there is a "simple" way to do it, I can take a look!

You can't.
Putting it simply: the IC in both devices doesn't have the set of instructions and physical capabilities to do it.

I'd like to clarify summary. Is it impossible to take stuff from Moto_device_tree and use it in Other_device_tree to activate Moto gestures?
