Hey all!!! where i work i have no phone signal i am however connected to the wifi there so im wondering if there is a way to send/recieve my texts using the connection?
Any info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
p.s. i dont really want to log onto a sms-sending website everytime :$ i also dont want to have to rely on emailing people but at the moment it feels this is the simplest option?

google voice seems like your best bet but ud have to give out a new number to people :/
yeap google voice will do it for you..
also you can use your gmail to send text messages to cell phones..
ex: [email protected] and they can reply you back to ur email from there cellphones... cingular also has it but don't remember the domain..
I text my girlfriend this way when i run out off messages..

Hey that's pretty cool. I just tested it out and it works, even with picture messages.
For AT&T it's [email protected]
is google voice only for US at the moment tho? i live in UK im trying an app called SMStoMailbox at the moment, will give it a go at work today!!!
When i receive a call, SOMETIMES i only see the number that's calling me and no caller id, like i dont even have that person in my contacts. I am using the default phone and contacts app from JB 4.1.2.
Is it a ram problem, phone app problem, modem problem or something else ?
Pls i need a solution for this, it gets annoying to no know who i answer to

Does it show caller's number or just "Withheld"/"Private number"?
I have the same problem. It show only the number, not private number or anything else.
And when I answer to the call, it show the ID again.
Try to save the contacts on the simcard

Actually they are saved in my google account, but i don't have an active internet connection; i just log in to wi-fi when i need something from the google market. Idd, why there is no Phone account ? Or is it replaced by this google account ?
I have the same problem. I'm using the stock phone app. It started with JB 4.1.2 and still happening with 4.2.1

yea, in both JB versions...i was so annoyed that i changed to GB for now .... since nobody got an answer for it yet
I actually have the same problem, but I'm using ICS and an I9001 (arco's CM9 build 2)... Maybe it's a CM issue?
It happened to me too one time. It turned out the Contact numbers are saved in multiple times. Try to clean your contacts or try put your settings first to display only one source, either phone, sim card, or google account.

i only have 1 set of contacts in google account (since there is no phone account in cm10, but i guess it gets replaced by google acc).

Yesterday i tryed to talk with a friend on yahoo messenger app and everytime i try to make a video call the app crashes. If i make voice call it works. Do any of u have the same problem or it my phone related only.?

Hi, since I updated my Xperia Z (C6603) to 10.3.a.0.423 I experienced 2 problems.
First one is:
The display stays off after a call, also when you remove the phone from your ear during the call.
(It usualy should turn back on)
Second one is:
All my contact images are gone and it won't even show me the whatsapp, skype or facebook images in contacts anymore (in whatsapp, skype, aso. it's working ofc.). If I add a picture manually it's working but I don't like to add a picture to every single contact manually.
Have someone experienced the same issues and found a solution for them?

Might be a little bit late, but maybe for others
worked pretty well on my Samsung S4.
download the app "proximity fix" from the playstore and run it.
Job done.
Hope that helps you or anyone who stumbles upon this!

I have a problem with hangouts
When sending messages and things it works fine. Only when calling or video calling it force stops. The video call and voice calling will work but as soon as i hit the "ok" button on the popup it says unfortunately hangouts has stopped. I use hangouts alot i keep in contact with many friends and family. What could be this problem. Please help out
